@shopaholic: We try to follow the 2-3-4 schedule but lately he has been fighting naps. Most days he has only 30-45 minute naps. On weekends though he sleeps from 1 1/2-2 hours each. I have noticed if he is up by 6:30am he takes a nap around 10am but if he is up any later then he fights his morning nap.
@QueensBee: Aww hope Pete gets used to it. Our pony is a small one and has a cute face and kind of looks like our cat!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@shopaholic: I think 2 hours might be too short for K so she's fighting it hard. If I put J down for his nap too early he will fight his nap and not nap at all! Right now he takes a nap about every 3-3.5 hours from his wake up time.
His typical day looks like this:
6:30 am - wake up
10-11:30 am - 1st nap
3-4:30 pm - 2nd nap
7:30 pm - sleep

@silver1: That is so cute!!!! We got Xander an elephant rocker like that! I'm excited to give it to him!!

@shopaholic: Wow, sounds like she is growing well! Great stats!
I wish I had better advice for the naps. Pete is a pretty consistent napper, especially at home. He wakes up for the day at 6:00am and then his first nap is usually 9:30-11:00am. Second nap is generally 2:30-4:00pm, although that changes on daycare days or on days when we are out and about. Bedtime is always 6:30pm so that puts us on a 3.5, 3.5, 2.5 schedule right now.
K generally sleeps well at night (12 hours), right? It's possible she might be one of those babies that does okay on short spurt naps? A little energizer bunny you have!
@silver1: Yaaay, great pics! Thanks for sharing! Will def share with Pete in hopes to inspire him!
Pete continues to have one runny poop each evening, even three days after his cup of milk. I'm still not sure if they are related at all but I do know that it's leading to a bad case of diaper rash! Poor guy with such a red tush....
I leave for a conference in Orlando tomorrow afternoon and don't return home until Friday at 10am. It's my longest stretch away from LO and I am feeling a bit sad about it. I know the time will pass quickly but I just can't believe that I won't see him until Saturday morning! I am trying to focus on the fact that I can sleep through the night without a monitor by my ear for two full nights.

@shopaholic: We are getting close to a set nap schedule. He has a short 45 min nap at about 8:30 and then his second nap is at about 12:30 for 1.5 hours. He usually gets up between 5-5:30 but sometimes later. His bathtime is 5:30 or shortly after and he is usually asleep by 6:30.
Maybe try keeping her awake a bit longer in the morning?
@Smurfette: That is crappy that she is waking so much in the night. Poor girl must be so tired.
@silver1: Such a cutie on the horse!
@QueensBee: I hope your trip flies by. Enjoy the quiet nights sleep!
I'm pooped these last two days. DH started a new job and has to leave about 6:30am and doesn't get home until almost 5:30pm. Such a long day all by ourselves.

@silver1: Cutie!!
@QueensBee: It could take awhile. Been about two weeks now and the poops are starting to slow down. Hugs! I know you are going to miss him but enjoy the peaceful sleep!!
@ALV91711: She is so tired. Last night she woke up at 9, cried out, and was back asleep. I didn't hear from her again until she woke up. She is still only getting about 10 hours of sleep at night. Which isn't enough.
@Adira: Happy Birthday Xander!! Hope you two have a wonderful day together!!

@Smurfette: @ALV91711: Thank you ladies!!! So far we've gone out to breakfast together (we met up with my BFF) and now he's napping (and made us miss that music class)! Not sure what we'll do with the rest of our day.

Hi everyone! I've been so busy lately that I haven't gotten on here! Things have been good. L is fully walking like a pro. He now can stand up in the middle of the floor when he falls down too. He is sleeping mostly through the night- goes down at 8 and wakes at 7. He just got 3 new teeth and I am pretty sure he is teething a molar or two. He keeps putting his thumb in his mouth all the way to the back and gnawing on it. And he's been kind of fussy in the evenings. Eating-wise, he is gonna send us to the poor house. This kid can EAT! It's almost comical how much he can pack away. I weighed him at home yesterday and he was 23lbs. I can't seem to measure him though as he won't sit, lay or stand still. Napping is getting better. He has always been a consistently good napper but he wouldn't nap in his crib- only the swing (which he is obviously too big for). The nanny has been working on it and has finally gotten him to nap in his crib consistently. His nap schedule looks like this:
7am Wake
9:30-11 nap
2:00-3:00/3:30 Nap
7:45 In bed

@Adira: Happy birthday Xander!!! He's ONEEEEEEEE....
@travellingbee: He's sounding like he's doing so well! That's good he's consistently napping now~
@QueensBee: have a safe trip! It's so hard to leave them, but the return will be that much sweeter!! Enjoy your time away, and your full night's rest... you might not even know what to do with yourself with all that down time!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@QueensBee: We have a rocking elephant and L likes it but won't hold on to it so if we hold him and rock it he giggles. If we let go, he'd fall off. So silly. Have a good trip!
@silver1: Cutie
@Adira: Yay! Birthday fun!
@ALV91711: I don't know if I could handle all that time alone! That would be exhausting!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: Yay for walking! L is doing so great. I would kill for R to sleep 8-7! She is back to 5/530 waking and not going down till 730 cause she is fighting the afternoon nap. I am so ready for her to move up rooms at day care and one nap. I am so glad that the nanny is working out!!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@travellingbee: Yay for walking!! What a good sleeper he has become. That is great that your nanny got him napping in his crib!
I took Isaac up to my work today and he was such a charmer. It was a good visit and made me feel so much better about going back.
Working on pushing his bedtime back slowly this week is hard, but he needs to for daycare. I took him grocery shopping and got back for his afternoon snack late on purpose in hopes that he will have dinner later and bed later. We just need to go about half an hour later, hopefully it helps.
Tooth 6 is just cutting through, so hopefully it will be completely in soon and he can sleep better.

@travellingbee: Great to hear the nanny is working out and his naps are better.
@ALV91711: Hope both you and Issac have a smooth transition. Looks like Issac is practicing his charming skills
@QueensBee: Hope your trip is going great and you are getting some quality sleep!!
@Adira: Happy Birthday Xander!! Hope you had a great day. Elephant rocker sounds so much fun!! Did you give it to him?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: That's awesome about his naps and that you actually have him on a pretty set schedule!!! Yay for improvement! And I'm so impressed with the walking! Xander can barely stand up without holding something for more than a few seconds!
@Mrs. High Heels: @travellingbee: @silver1: Thank you ladies!!! Xander and I had a fun day together, but didn't do anything TOO exciting. We went out to breakfast with my BFF, but he ended up napping during when BOTH the music classes were, so we skipped them and just stayed home and played! I wanted to bring him to a playground to try out a swing for the first time, but the playground near us is covered in snow and hasn't been shoveled out at all and it was pretty cold yesterday anyway.
@silver1: We didn't give him the rocker yet! Hubs was all "You didn't wrap it??? We have to wrap it first!" Crazy boy. So I told him he could wrap it and I guess we'll give it to him on Sunday!
@ALV91711: That's so cool that you brought Isaac into your work!!! What time are you trying to push his bedtime to?
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: We are trying to get his bedtime to be 6:30 instead of 6. Sounds like you had a good day even if you didn't do too much. I find that most classes are at the best nap times, so it is really hard to do much. I guess once they are on one nap it would be easier.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Yeah, both times were definitely fit for the one nap schedule! One time was at 11:00 and the other time was at 4:00, and if your kid naps noon to 3 or something, that would be perfect for either class! Oh well! We'll go another time!

Has anyone dropped a bottle/nursing session yet? I want to drop a bottle in the afternoon and just do a snack. But I keep chickening out! I did only send 5 oz bottles today cause she is only drinking 4-5 ozs.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm going to drop one starting Monday! But I'm going to send the same amount of BM and ask them to put his afternoon bottle in a sippy instead and feed it with his lunch. I have nooooo idea how that will go, but the last few days at daycare, he's only had ~3 oz of his 6, so I'm thinking he's ready to drop it!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Smurfette: I dropped both of the middle of the day nursing/bottle sessions... so now he is only getting BM in the AM and PM. I dropped both of them at the same time... he just gets whole milk with his lunch now, and an afternoon snack with WM.

Random question, ladies! Did you guys do your taxes yet? And did you get a lot back for having a baby??
We filed our taxes already and basically got a $600 credit for daycare, but didn't really seem to get that much more back than previous years. Hubs thought we'd be getting an extra $2K+ back! Did I totally mess up our taxes and miss a section or something???
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: ok, I am going to try it tomorrow! Will send a bottle just in case but just do a snack instead.
@Adira: DH did ours. We are getting money back, but not sure how much is for R. Last year I don't think we got anything but we also have 2 mortgages, and rental income (we break even month to month) to include this year. But I am not sure what all he did for child care. I do know that Turbo Tax recognized that I had child care Flex taken out of my checks, so they directed to him to some child care deduction. We had to get the Tax ID number from day care for it.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: We did get a tax ID number from our daycare and I know we got a credit for having Xander in daycare, but in general, it didn't seem like we really were getting any money back JUST because we had a kid, if that makes sense... the only money we're getting back because of Xander seems to be because of the daycare... I'm worried I messed it up (although too late now to do anything about it).
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: You listed him as a dependent right? Anything else change, DH or you go up in salary? technically you shouldn't get anything back that means you are doing your taxes right.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes, I listed him as a dependent! Hubs and I both got raises last year, but we didn't change our withholdings at all, so Hubs thought we should be getting more back... ugh
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yeah but you probably went up a tax bracket with your fancy raises
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Adira: We got an extra 1k (I think) for the Child Tax Credit, which used to be $2500 but they reduced it this year. Could that be what he was thinking of?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: Yes, I think so, but I don't think we got that...???? How does that work??? I'm looking at my tax form now and I see the "Child tax credit" section, but form 8812 doesn't seem to apply to us because Xander doesn't have his own tax ID?? I'm soooooo confused....
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Adira: We had a tax bracket issue due to my change of jobs, and didn't catch it and have additonal money deducted, and we ended up paying even with our two little new dependants. Point being, it could be the raises. The Child Tax Credit is only available if your joint income is under a certain amount. That's probably what he was thinking.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Blue: Oh maybe we make too much?? (haha, what a nice problem) Although when I tried suggesting that to Hubs, he was all "No, even if we made a million dollars, as long as we have 0 withholdings, we should be getting something back!" I don't know enough about how withholdings and taxes work to say if he's right or not, but he was pretty certain...
honeydew / 7589 posts
@Adira: @Mrs. Blue: Yeah probably your joint income was over the cutoff. We qualified for both that and the earned income tax credit because we made so darn little all year, lol.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: You don't always get something back if you have 0 withholdings. If he thinks he is right, make him look into it. My guess is that you went up a tax bracket.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Blue: @Arden: Ooooh, just looked up the limits and our adjusted gross income IS over the amount to qualify for the credit! NOW I get it! Thank you so much!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I looked at the form that you linked on the other thread, we make too much as well. I was expecting to see more of a return and was surprised when DH said what we were getting but I went with it cause he has done them over like 3 times to check. Bummer though. Mama was hoping for a new couch!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: haha, yeah, I was PRETTY sure I had filled out our taxes correctly (I use TaxAct and it's pretty dummy-proof), but then when I told Hubs how much we were getting back, he was pretty sure I must've done it wrong because he was expecting much more back! Oh well... Rich people problems I guess (or are we upper middle class??)
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Well if you are rich, I will be jealous! Cause I feel pretty poor these days!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: haha, yeah, I'm with you. I mean we definitely have enough money, but it feels like we're just breaking even really! All our income goes to daycare and the mortgage!

@Smurfette: Tomorrow I'm adding in a morning snack and milk with breakfast. That will mean he is getting milk with all three meals and two small snacks. Besides wake up and bedtime he is nursing 2-3 times in the day and this weekend I want to get it down to 1-2 and then hopefully next week only 1 then none. I'm going to keep the morning and evening for a while and the overnight until he STTN. It is hard though as yesterday and today he has only wanted purees since his tooth is cutting through.
@Adira: When do you have to have your taxes done by? We don't even have all our forms we need yet. Luckily we have an accountant do it since DH was self employed and it is just easier. She doesn't charge us to much anyways and I usually don't get anything back. I'm wondering what this return will be like since I only worked 2.5 months last year.
