Urg! R is breaking my heart. Only getting 10-10.5 hours of sleep at night. Then she isn't napping at day care. An hour total for the 2nd day in a row. She didn't wake up till 440 so it was 740 before she went to sleep so I am sure she will only get 10 hours again.
She also only drank 2ozs all day at work today. Luckily I got her to drink her bottle tonight before bed.
I wish that I knew what was going on with her. On the plus side, she was so fun tonight!

@Smurfette: We've been missing a nursing session here and there most days (usually the one between naps). I'm not supplementing with any other kind of milk, but she just doesn't seem as hungry when she has more solids.

@Adira: No help on the taxes. My FIL does ours. We rarely get anything back, so I don't expect anything.

@Smurfette: I know R is making you worry. I have no idea what's going on - but K is being strange the past couple of days too. WW?

K didn't take an afternoon nap today. Just refused and cried and wasn't calming down for 40 min. I gave up. I have too much stuff to do. lol She seemed happy though once she was out. The past 2 nights have been horrible getting her down to sleep! Last night DH had to go in there and rock her to sleep. He thinks she is learning how to get her way. But then he is also the one who goes in to rock her to sleep. I'm hoping it's just a WW thing. Or teething. I think she's teething again and that's why she wouldn't nap either. Yesterday I discovered the side of her crib has been gnawed on a bunch of spots! It wasn't there before and I've never seen her chew on the crib, so I hadn't bothered with a guard.

@shopaholic: I can't feel or see anything but I really think that she is working on her molars.
Sorry that K is giving you trouble. It is so hard when you know they are tired but won't sleep.

@Adira: not done taxes yet. DH got a raise and my guess is we would make too much to qualify for the credit. I would be happy if we don't owe any!!
@Smurfette: LO still gets a bottle at lunchtime and one in late afternoon in addition to his morning and nighttime bottles. He is not a great eater though and loves his milk.
So the past few nights my arm has been tired and hurting while giving LO his nighttime bottle. I cradle him on my arm and most of weight and rock him as well after he finishes. He couldn't have suddenly gained weight.. DH thinks he weighs atleast 24-25 pounds. He was 21.5 at 9mo appt. Trying to figure this one out. This is my only cuddle time and don't wan't to stop that yet. How do you feed LO bottles?

@silver1: We still hold her but we always have a pillow door support. She maybe weighs 20lbs but I think 19lb is more likely.

@Smurfette: what is a pillow door support?

@shopaholic: Hopefully it is a WW or teething and she goes back to good sleeping soon. It makes for a long day when they refuse to nap.

@Smurfette: Is she eating more food and that is why she isn't drinking her bottles? It probably won't be hard to drop a bottle if that is the case.

I forgot to say Isaac has been letting go to stand for the last couple weeks. At first he would just fall to his butt. Now when he pulls up on something he will let go and squat to get down. Tonight when I was doing dishes he was beside me and let go for about 6 seconds before squatting down. I'm hoping this means his first steps are soon!

@ALV91711: I think they have to be done by April 15th, so you still have time!

@Smurfette: Poor R!!! Do you think she might be coming down with something? Did she eat well besides not really drinking her bottles?? And ugh, no sleep?? I have no advice, but poor girl!!

@ALV91711: YAY for standing without support!!! Isaac and Xander sound like they are on par with each other! That's exactly what Xander has been doing. He'll stand up holding something and then let go for a few second before sitting back down. And yesterday, he even tried clapping while standing! He managed a couple claps and then sat down to continue. It was so funny.

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: @Adira: R stood up comfortably, 10+ seconds for about a month before she started walking walking. Probably was a couple week before she took her first step.

@Adira: She is congested and this morning was coughing. She woke up at 540, urg, and was about to fall back asleep and started coughing. Fell asleep on the way to school, which she hasn't done in forever, but again coughing woke her up. She also spit up a lot of mucus this morning, all over DH!

@Smurfette: Thanks! That's good to know! So probably another month before I see real walking happening!

Poor R!!! That girl needs a break! Between teething and being sick and just not having the best nap schedule!!

Well I guess she is just over her bottles. She refused her morning bottle as well. Her teacher called me to make sure she was supposed to get the sippy cup with milk with lunch or just a snack. Said she is drinking the milk at least. I guess this makes weaning easier. But darn it, we just opened a new container of formula! Not even half gone. And we have a whole other container not opened, you can't return those can you?

  15. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: Ours don't have to be done until April 30 and they have until the end of this month to have all T4's etc out to us. I keep trying to get Isaac to clap when he is standing up but he won't fall for it!

@Smurfette: Poor girl, I hope she is feeling better. Sounds like super easy weaning, guess she just wants to grow up. It is good that she is liking the milk in a sippy.

My baby hates me, lol! Kidding. But today he took a short morning nap and then a half an hour afternoon nap. I tried and tried to get him back to sleep but he wouldn't have any of it. So we went shopping and he didn't even fall asleep in the car. Plus he was so happy all the way to bedtime. I on the other hand am pooped.

  16. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: I would be pooped too!

R has barely drank anything today. She ate some banana and pancake for breakfast and then would only eat pouches for the rest of the day I don't know what is going on with her. DH thinks he feels the molars. We gave her some Tylenol before bed. She was at 98, but she felt really hot to both of us.
I wish she could talk and tell us what is wrong. She was in a good mood through. So no clue what is going on.

Also we have to hold her down to brush her teeth this days. Torture!

@Smurfette: Aww poor R hope she is feeling better today and her appetite is back.
It was funny re: pillow I was googling maybe another baby product I didn't know about! haha
@ALV91711: Hopefully he is making up at night and letting you sleep in late!

@silver1: Luckily we got her to take a bottle in the am and pm. But she still didn't eat or drink much today. We feel the teeth now but they haven't cut through.

    Hi all!

I survived the conference in Orlando and it feels so good to be home! I missed Pete soooo much (DH too of course!) and I teared up every time my family sent me a photo of him.

The work days were super long (7:00am-10pm or later) so I didn't really get to catch up on sleep as I had hoped. I'm still feeling pretty tired and will probably head to bed as soon as I finish this post.

Pete has had a big weekend! He's officially walking for real now! He's wobbly and walks like a drunk sailor, but he can take about 15-20 steps now before he falls over. I'd say he walks 50% and crawls 50%. I still can't get over it. He's definitely moving into toddler zone and he toddles around the house now. My big boy!

And speaking of toddler, he has been super whiney this weekend. He's usually such a happy boy but recently, everything seems to bug him. He whines when I hold him but he whines when I put him down. He whines when I put him in the stroller or Ergo, etc, etc. I hope this is a brief phase and not the beginning for years of toddler whining. I am not ready for that!

Today, he only thing that made him happy was a raw sweet potato. I was unpacking our groceries this morning and holding him at the same time (Mr. Whine needed to be held, of course!). I took some yams out of the bag and he lunged toward them. I decided that the yam was actually a fairly safe "toy" to give him so I rinsed it off and put him on the floor with his yam. He was feeling the rough skin with his hands and then put it right into his mouth. I expected him to make a yucky face but instead, he started biting it and eating it! This kid carried around this raw potato for the next hour munching on it like it was a cookie. Weirdo!

DH jokes that Pete has given up on my bad cooking and now just prefers his food raw. Har har!

@adira: I'm pretty sure we are going to owe a few thousand dollars on our taxes this year so I have been avoiding them. I should probably sit down and face the music soon. Ugh, not looking forward to it.

I've been loving the photos of Xander's party today! Looks so festive and fun!

@Smurfette: More teeth?! Poor girl, I hope she feels back to normal soon. Has her sleep gotten any better this weekend?

@ALV91711: A day of nap refusals is the worst! I hope you got some rest today!

@shopaholic: Also loving all the Rio party photos! Everything came out so beautiful!
I should probably go catch up on the Spring Birthdays thread now...

    Goodnight!!!

@Smurfette: I hope they cut through soon and she goes back to eating and drinking.

Isaac has the rosy teething cheeks again this afternoon, why can't we just have a break. His upper gums are slightly swollen, so I suspect the top ones beside the front will come next. I can't see or feel anything.

@QueensBee: I can't believe he is walking so much, that is awesome. Too cute eating the raw yam.

@Adira: I hope that the party was fun today, the pictures of the decorations all looked great.

@shopaholic: All the pictures from your party look great. K looked so adorable in her dress. I'm really glad the weather held out for you.

Yesterday Isaac walked with his walker for the first time. He went about 9 feet, it was so cool. Of course he hasn't done it again.

Tonight I could not get him to settle down for bed. Usually nursing makes him pretty drowsy, but he was wide awake. So I sat in his chair to rock him and get him drowsy to put him down. He was fidgeting around and making all sorts of noise and then all of a sudden he just passed right out.

@QueensBee: Haha! I can't imagine eating a sweet potato raw! So fun watching them walk isn't it!
R's sleep has been so so this weekend. This morning she was standing up in the crib at 450, I saw the time and thought aww,
Hell no! Luckily she went back to sleep till 530, and then fell back asleep till 640. Sat she was up at 530. Naps were better today but she wouldn't go to sleep till 8. So way later then normal.
@ALV91711: yay for walking with the walker!! I hope he gets his teeth soon too!

@Smurfette: I hope it was your day to sleep in yesterday and not today, since she slept later.

It worked out for me this weekend that he slept later on my day to get up.

@ALV91711: I had Sat morning this weekend. Even when it is DHs morning I get up cause I have the monitor. DH has to have it turned up so high it would wake me up. I just go back to bed after waking him up.
I swear she sleeps better when DH gets up with her.

@Smurfette: Yay for a potentially easy transition from bottles! But boo for her timing! I would THINK you could return an unopened can of formula, but I'm not sure... do you have any local family FB exchange groups? Maybe you can sell it to a local mom.

@QueensBee: YAY walking!!! Go Pete! And that is so funny about the raw potato!!! Babies are so weird! Ugh, sorry to hear about your taxes though - owing money SUCKS.

So Xander's started to get fussy when he doesn't get his way! Boooo! He wanted to play with our remote control and I took it from him and hid it and he immediately started whining and being cranky! Luckily we were able to divert his attention to something else, but I am NOT looking forward to this new phase in his development!

I start pump weaning today!!!!!! So excited to only pump TWICE at work today!!! Although this weekend when I was nursing Xander and he was just snuggled against me, I definitely started to get nostalgic. I'm going to miss our weekend afternoon nursing sessions!

@Adira: I don't know any FB groups. I have a girlfriend being induced today, her 3rd, and she isn't trying BF this time. Last two she never got milk. And another due in July, so I can always give to them if Costco won't let me return it. I just want to know what is going on with her. Not like her to now want to eat. And I am worried she isn't getting enough nutrients since she won't drink milk now. She did drink 6ozs of formula this morning. I sent no bottles to day care. So nice not having to make any.
Is he doing ok drinking the hemp milk? Yay for less pumping!

  27. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Hopefully Costco will take it! Will R drink formula in a sippy or straw cup instead of a bottle? Daycare has told us that Xander has been fighting his bottles lately too, so we're hoping the transition to cups will go smoothly. This morning I sent a note asking them to give him his afternoon bottle in a cup with lunch! We'll see how it goes!

And I haven't been giving him hemp milk. He didn't really seem to like it, haha. So I've decided to transition him from bottles to cups with breast milk first and then I'll do a gradual transition from breast milk to hemp once he's fully off bottles!

@Adira: I hate that whining when they don't get what they want. I always say just because you are the baby doesn't mean you can do/have whatever you want! I hope that giving him his milk at lunch today works out and yay for pump weaning!! It will be awesome when you have that time back in your day.

@Smurfette: Costco is usually pretty good about taking things back. I hope she starts drinking some milk/formula again. It is hard when they don't eat/drink as much as normal.

@ALV91711: Yes! I'm SO excited not to have to pump!!! My poor nipples are sick of it too, haha. But I AM going to miss the hour+ of my day where I'm just relaxing and reading a good book! But I'm really looking forward to not having to pump at HOME anymore (I pump twice in the evenings to have enough milk to cover Xander's intake)!

We had Isaac's one year check up today. A couple weeks early.

He weighs 20lbs 10oz and is 29.5 inches tall. 25% for both. He has steadily gone done in percents, but nothing drastic. Health little dude and the doc thinks that the top two teeth beside the front ones are on their way in.

I asked her about his sleeping. She said to put him to bed and not to get him out until morning. If he cries, feel that he isn't wet, shush or pat him, give him a lovey and just let him cry and he should figure it out. Right now he nurses twice at night, I'm not sure how I feel about going from nursing twice to none all at once though. I'm going to have to think about it for a day.

  38. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Big boy! Although you said 25%... so not big?? I don't even think Xander weighs 20 lbs!! I'm nervous for his appointment next week! Did he get vaccines at this appointment too?

I think maybe going from two nursing sessions a night to zero might be a bit drastic! Maybe you could set a time limit for when you're willing to nurse him and try to only do it once? Like you put him to bed at 7:00 and you're not going to nurse him until after 1:00 a.m. or something? And then do the things she suggested if he wakes up prior to that? Then once he's down to one wake-up, work on eliminating that one as well??

  39. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

So my daycare sent home Xander's zoli cup because they couldn't figure out how to use it without it leaking everywhere. When I opened it to wash it, there was some extra plastic piece that does NOT belong in the zoli, so I'm wondering if that was their issue! Either way, they have spare sippy cups and they said Xander drank about 2.5 oz from one, so that's good that he'll drink out of something! I'm curious how today goes!

Also, it's CRAZY how my view on my pumping output has changed! I got 15 oz yesterday instead of my normal 18 oz and I was all "This is headed in the right direction!" What a difference a year makes (or more like 6 months)!

  40. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: That is a great weight and height. I wouldn't worry about percentages too much.

I would let him CIO as well. I think at this age he isn't going to get the if I cry after 2 I get to eat and if I cry at 1, then I don't get fed. Do you think that he is really eating that much over night? Or more of a comfort thing?

R was up 3 times a night when we sleep trained at 6 months. I don't know that she was eating all that much but we went cold turkey. She started eating better during the day. It was long 3 nights but it worked.
Hugs I know that it is a hard decision.
