    @Adira: There was just extra plastic in the cup? Where did it come from? Glad that he took it from a sippy cup. I would use a sippy cup over a straw for milk. Much easier to clean!

    @Smurfette: It's this plastic ring and it's about the same size as the lid, so I think they think it was supposed to go in the lid to be a seal of some sort, but it doesn't actually belong to the Zoli! I have no idea where it came from! I remember when I originally brought them the Zoli cup six months ago, they mentioned that after going through the wash, they had this plastic ring and were asking me if it went with the Zoli and how it was supposed to go back on, but I told them I didn't think it belonged. They apparently have kept it with the Zoli this entire time since they don't know where it goes! I'm guessing it goes with some other cup!!

    @Adira: He started out in the 90% and has slowly come down. In the last three months he hasn't even gained a pound. But it hasn't been drastic, he just isn't growing as fast.

    @Smurfette: @Adira: I'm not sure what to do for sleep. We already do no feeding before midnight, so maybe we should stretch that out. But when he does nurse it isn't that long, I think it is mostly to just go back to sleep. Cold turkey might just be best, he does eat a lot during the day.

    @Adira: That is kind of crazy that they had an extra part and just put it in his cup.

    Yesterday he made the day with only three nursing sessions. One at wake up, one a while after lunch and another before bed. A couple more days and I'll drop the mid day one and then we are good for a while. He didn't even ask or try to get into my shirt yesterday which itself is a big improvement.

    @ALV91711: Xander was the same - he started off around the 75th percentile (for weight at least) and last time was only 13th! I'm curious (and nervous) to see what he is at the next appointment!

    I guess you could always TRY cold turkey! We were lucky in that Xander just progressed to longer stretches on his own without much help from us, so I really have no advice! I just hope you all get some sleep soon!!

    Three nursing sessions I think is what Xander would do if I didn't force him to have a fourth (ack, which is all over now that I'm weaning...)! I think that's crazy he tries to get into your shirt though - he must be much more of a boob-man than Xander is! I don't think he's EVER indicated he wants to nurse!! I always initiate it!

    @ALV91711: If you are already doing no feedings before midnight, I would go cold turkey. At this point he doesn't need to eat over night. I think he is doing it more for comfort and habit to get back to sleep. But he has to learn to put himself back to sleep. Esp. before you go back to work. Believe me you don't want to work on multiple wake-ups. It sucks!!
    Glad that the day weaning is going so good!

    @Smurfette: I guess now it is really a decision of what night this week to start. It will be a good week to do it since we have nothing going on.

    @Adira: And he didn't get shots yesterday. Here they don't do it at the ped's office, we have to take them to the public health center. A public health nurse weighs, measures, checks them out, asks questions and will also address any concerns and then gives them the shot. They won't do it before he is 1, so his appointment is on the 24th.

    When does Xander go for his one year appt?

    @ALV91711: We did over a weekend, so DH was there to help with support.

    @Smurfette: I was just catching up on the thread. I'm terrified of molars! That sounds like a big, fat pile of no fun. As for the formula, can you just make it in her sippy cup if she'll drink out of that? Or mix it in? I can't stand the idea of wasted formula since it's so expensive. Although, now that we are buying WCM for them, too, I've realized how friggin' expensive milk is, too! Yikes.

  9. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @Mrs. Blue: We tried putting it in a cup and she wouldn't drink it. Yesterday she drank 6ozs in the AM and then 2ozs at night. She probably drank 3 ozs of milk all day. Plus water. I measured everything today so I am going to see how she does today. She ate better yesterday then she did all weekend, so maybe her appetite is back.
    And molars suck!! Been chewing on her hand for a month now.

  10. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

    @Smurfette: How much water is she drinking? Maybe she's filling up on that? Hopefully it's just the teeth!

  11. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @Mrs. Blue: Not much. I think maybe 4 ozs through the day. So she is drinking less then she did when she was getting 4 bottles. She will drink more at home cause we leave her cup out but day care doesn't. Other kids would take it.

  12. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

    @Smurfette: I know she's not drinking as much as normal right now, but how are you sending/planning to send enough WCM for the day? I've been wandering because right now they usually take 2 6 oz bottles while at daycare and I know their straw cups don't hold that much. Do you just send one sippy of milk? I know our ped said they'd probably drink less out of a sippy with WCM, but I'm worried about them cutting back tooo much.

  13. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @ALV91711: Oh, that's so interesting!! Xander goes for his appointment on the 14th! I'm nervous about all the shots!

  14. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @Mrs. Blue: I think they might provide the milk cause I never see it in the fridge (infant and toddle 1 room share a fridge). But this week I am just sending 4 ozs for her for 2 meals. I don't think milk amount is supposed to replace formula oz for oz. She goes next Wed for her 1 yr appointment, so I guess we find out then what they want her to drink. So I going to just try and track it for the next week so I can tell the doc what she is doing.

  15. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @Smurfette: @Mrs. Blue: My "my toddler this week" e-mail said that 1 year olds should drink between 16-20 oz of WCM a day, but never more than 3 cups (24 oz) worth! And that corresponds with what Mrs. Lion posted with her toddler eating cheat sheet (http://www.hellobee.com/2014/01/27/toddler-eating-cheat-sheet/)

  16. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @Adira: Crap! R isn't drinking that much

    although she can put down some cheese

  17. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @Smurfette: I think it's dairy that is important - not necessarily WCM! If she's getting 16 oz of dairy (milk, yogurt, cheese, etc), then I think she's fine!

  18. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

    @Adira: That makes sense because previously our ped said he wanted them to still be drinking at least 15-20 oz. of WCM per day.

  19. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

    @Smurfette: our one year appt isn't until 3-28, so you're going to be the designated March mama to ask your ped about this and report back!

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @Mrs. Blue: Will do!

  21. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

    @Adira: My ped said 20-25oz of milk a day or three glasses. I thought that seemed like a lot.

    Right now we give it to him with all three meals and I give him some to replace his morning nursing session we just dropped as he won't go without something. I figure after a couple weeks he will just have milk with his meals.

    @Smurfette: L is probably drinking about 10 ounces a day of WCM but he is also still getting 2 full feedings of BF too so I think it is fine. I really have been trying not to stress and just take his cues. Curious to see what the doctor says. He has been weening himself fairly steadily but he definitely wants his nighttime and morning feedings so I will hang on to them for a while. I think he will take more WCM once we totally ween. He seems to like it at least.

    @ALV91711: @Adira: I'm pretty sure we have fallen in the percentiles too but I guess we will have to wait to see. He didn't gain any weight for a long time and then he gained a whole bunch but I am not sure about height. He seems to be around 30 " but it is so hard to measure him that I am not sure.

    We were supposed to go to the doctor the 17th, but now we are going away for that week so it'll have to wait until we get back.

  23. Smurfette

    @travellingbee: so jealous! R drank 2ozs today.

  24. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

    @Smurfette: Actually I think he drank more today. He is going through another growth spurt I think.

    I can't believe how much this kid eats. For dinner, he ate a bunch of pasta, two small meat balls, 4 large strawberries, cheese, tons of blueberries, a red potato, and a handful of peas and carrots!! And I had to cut him off with the blueberries because I had been feeding him for an hour and I needed to clean up the kitchen. And he downed about 4 ounces of cows milk to top it off. The nanny said he ate a lot today for lunch and then he was hungry after his nap so he had a snack of TWO cereal bars. Jeesh. He is expensive!

  25. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

    @travellingbee: Sounds like he is eating a lot of food! That is so awesome. What type of cereal bars do you give him for a snack?

    Tonight I gave Isaac ham and corn for dinner. He gobbled it up and I had to give him a second helping. That never happens. Usually he eats a few bites and then wants purees.

  26. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @travellingbee: OMG! That is a ton of food!
    @ALV91711: good eater too!!

  27. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @Smurfette: Bleh, Xander's not making the switch from bottles to sippies well. He drank pretty much nothing from his afternoon sippy. I was able to get him to drink 3 oz before bed, but it was a struggle to get him to drink even that! Hoping today goes better...

    @travellingbee: Wow! That's a lot of food!!! I'm jealous! Mostly of the fact that he can probably feed most of that to himself! I still have to sit down and spoon-feed Xander!

    @ALV91711: That's awesome progress!!! Yay table food!!

    @Adira: Have you tried spoon feeding him table food? Why won't they drink their milk!?!?

  30. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @Smurfette: Yes - anything that's not complete mush, he spits out! And then gags and acts disgusted! Ugh.

  31. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @Adira: Have you mushed up a banana? So some chunks but not all the way. Also R does better when we aren't sitting in front of her watching her eat. If I put it on her plate, and then go in the kitchen so I can still hear her she will eat better if she isn't eating otherwise.

    9 month clothes are starting to get tight on R. Sad! Getting so big!

  32. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @Smurfette: Yep! Tried banana, tried carrots, tried apples (all foods he likes in puree form)! I've also left him chunks of all and puffs and been in the kitchen while he was at the dining table. He just throws it on the floor, haha. Or - with banana, he'll sort of suck on them, but then spit them out.

    Awww, R's growing up!!

  33. Smurfette

    @Adira: What a stinker!!!

  34. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

    @Adira: He'll get there with eating food. Do you send any finger foods to daycare? Maybe he would eat some there with the other kids.

    Isaac is obsessed with books lately. He spends a good chunk of his day "reading" them. He also loves for me to sit and read to him and he will sit there for what seems like forever and listen to the same book over and over.

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @ALV91711: I don't send any food - they provide food at my daycare. But they have tried offering him puffs, cheerios, bread, and fruit when they feed the other kids snacks. So far he just pretends to eat stuff (brings it to his mouth and immediately drops it or puts it in his mouth and then spits it out)!

    And yay books!!! Xander's been losing patience with books lately. He used to bring me a flap book and have me read it 3 times in a row! But now he'll get through three pages and then crawl away! He's still good about bedtime books though.

  36. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

    @ALV91711: @Adira: I'm jealous of your babies that listen to books. L never has. He likes to turn pages and play with the book and he will listen while he plays and walks around. Sometimes, if the book has a rhythm he will dance as I read. But he NEVER will sit and listen. My kid is already ADD

  37. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @travellingbee: I wouldn't really say that Xander LISTENS (except maybe at night, but even then, I don't know). He's always impatiently trying to flip the pages or open the flaps! But he seems to enjoy flipping pages and stuff, so I'm counting that as an interest in books!

  38. Adira

    Xander just took a step!!!

  39. ALV91711

  40. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @ALV91711: R has been playing with them a little more too. She goes through phases at night. She will lift the flaps but most nights when I just read a book she doesn't pay attention.
    @travellingbee: R just started semi paying attention in the last month. Do you have flap books? She loves Karen Katz books.
    @Adira: yay!!!!!!
