@pastemoo: Liam hasn't rolled over at all. He can get onto his side from his back, but that's it!

@tysonja: Welcome! And what a cutie. Gabriel has a pink and a purple gDiaper, too. I wanted the red one and it came with pink. And I think purple is gender neutral (but DH does not).
I'll catch up more later...

Ugh ... hat a horrible 24 hours of sleep. He used to be so good at going down for naps, and since we have been home it is almost impossible to get him to take a full nap anywhere but in the swing. He also fights going to bed like crazy and is up every 2-3 hours. He has also been extremely pukey today, so I am not sure what is up, but I hope it resolves itself soon.

Feeling everyone's pain on the sleep front, Lily has been taking 2 1 hour naps which is ok, bedtime is a different story she's been waking up every 30-60 minutes! Actually sometimes she will even wake after 15 minutes. That is until the past 2 nights when we just put her in bed with us at midnight and then she will sleep for about 2 hours at a time it is horrible! This has been going on since Monday! Blah! I don't have the heart do cry it out, but hubby and I are getting sooo frustrated! Plus she's been a grump! Sorry vent! Any tips?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
So my mom got up with Tyler last night and guess what. He slept 930-630!!!!!!! Shut the front door.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@winniebee: LOL, so she didn't have to get up at all, did she? Congrats!!
I got a 5 hour stretch. And then 1 and then 2, I feel pretty good.
@MsMini: We just went through 3 days of that, and so did winniebee. Hopefully today he stops.
@Mrs.M57: How do you put her down? What is she wearing? Is she fussing, or drooping her eyelids, or already asleep. My Gabriel wakes up way too often when he is cold. And if we try to put him down before he's ready he also wakes up in less than 75 minutes.... Ugh. We have to put him down drowsy and touch his shoulder or his belly for a few minutes. He has to fall asleep on his own in the crib or he wakes up very quickly.
clementine / 959 posts
Wow, looks like we're all having sleep issues! Liam was sleeping 8 hours straight, now he's down to waking up every 3-4 hours! Uhhg. And his naps have gone from a crappy 45 minutes to an even crappier 25 minutes. He gets so exhausted that he winds up super fussy. He still won't go to sleep on his own either. We have to rock/bounce him until he's in a deep sleep, or else he cries when we put him down.
The inlaws are coming for their weekly visit today so they'll watch Liam while I get a break. Yay! I'll probably spend the day researching appliances and countertops since our new cabinets will be here in a week and then the old kitchen is getting torn out. Should be an interesting few weeks not having a kitchen!
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@duckduckkristen: Yay for a break. goodness-what sleepless drugs are in the air?
And thanks for sharing about the rolling.
So, you're going to be eating out? Or a lot of microwave food until your kitchen is done?
clementine / 959 posts
@pastemoo: probably a combo of take out and microwave food. We have a mini kitchen in the basement with a fridge and microwave, so I'll be using that. We'll probably grill a lot too.

Man what the heck is up with our crazy babies? They are all going nuts at the same time!
Today my DH and I are throwing a surprise anniversary party for his parents. It is their 30th. There are going to be about 100 people there, and it will be at least a 10 hour day for willa. Kind of nervous about how it will all play out....
Anyone suffering from the heat? Here in Seattle Pretty much no one has air conditioning since it is so rarely hot. Well, this summer has been the hottest summer in 40 years or something like that, and our house has consistently been 87-91 degrees inside, depending on the time of day. It is pretty intolerable. I wonder if that is why willa is sleeping so poorly?
Also, anyone else have a LO who sucks their thumb? Willa wants nothing to do with her paci anymore. And she sucks her left thumb...does that mean she is left handed?
pomegranate / 3729 posts
@Mrsdaredevil: Penny has not been doing well with the heat this summer either. She has also has been sucking her left thumb! I wonder if that means that she could be a lefty, then it's possible! DH and his mom and sister are all lefties:)
Penny seems to have a little eye infection. I think it's from when she tries to suck on her thumb or fingers and her fingers go into her eye. I've been trying to keep it clean, and have been told to put a couole drops of breastmilk in her eye and that might help. Anyone else had any eye issues??
eggplant / 11287 posts
@bpcmarj: willa had an eye infection when she was 5 weeks. The per prescribed some anti biotic drops! Cleared in two days!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@tysonja: Welcome and congratulations! Glad rouser joining us!
@pastemoo: Tyler hasn't rolled over on purpose yet either. My mom said he started hiring at 4 am so she went downstairs to make a bottle and by the time she got back upstairs he had stopped and was asleep! Better sleep for u last night.
The 3-4 month sleep issues are insane I jut can't believe how many of us are having problems! I am under no delusion that T is going to repeat the 9 hour stretch tonight. I would be happy just to get a 5-6 tonight. It was nice to hve a night off last night Def had a few beers and pumped and dumped ; ) Today he has taken decent naps but has been a little more fussy than usual. Who knows what that means.
On iPhone - more later!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Mrsdaredevil: Yeah it has been so hot and humid in Boston basically all summer. We have AC units in several rooms (and we have an open concept) so it stays pretty cool. I also have a powerful fan pointed right in T's room so it stays cool. Our electrical bill has more than doubled this summer because AC is going all the time. Yikes.
@bpcmarj: Tyler had a clogged duct for a week or so - his eye would tear and almost leak a little and he had yellow crusties in it. I only know it was a clogged duct because he happened to have an eye appointment when this was going on. Maybe it's that?
So, maybe the week from hell was worth it. Last night, T slept 7 1/2 then 3 more (9-4:30 then 5-8). Not as good as the night before, but even better than he was sleeping before the crazy week. He then wanted a nap at 9 and has been sleeping 2 1/2 hours....I'm not sure if this means that maybe I should put him down even earlier at night....
Now, on to try to transition him from the Rock N Play to his crib....oh and he still takes the majority of his naps in his swing, swinging away, in his swaddle.
pomegranate / 3729 posts
@winniebee: I think you are right, that it could be a clogged tear duct. I have been keeping it clean and it has gotten a bit better! Penny is also still in her rock and play. When are you going to make the switch to the crib?? I have NO clue when I should do that....hmmmm.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@bpcmarj: I was going to ask you about the R&P situation. We have tried a few stretches in the crib and he makes it only 2.5 hours. I tried last week during hell week so who knows. The biggest problem is that since his legs are fully extended he kicks like crazy and wakes himself up. I think my plan for this week is to let him sleep stretch 1 in the R&P and then put him in his crib for stretch 2 when he's sleepy and when it doesn't affect me as much. Once he is used to it, I'll try the first stretch. I told myself I would have him transitioned to the crib by Labor Day....

Wah all this time I was not joining because I thought M would be so much older but I guess not!
She is 16 weeks 1 day today. No clue how much she weighs but she's def getting heavy and still has her lovely fat rolls! Haha
She's sucking on her thumb and it drives me crazy!! I stop it everytime I see it.
No rolling over yet
She smiles all the time especially at daddy!
Her giggles make us giggle! Daddy is really good at getting her to giggle
It's amazing how good her hand & eye coordination is getting
Still hates tummy time but will hold her head up
Loves to "walk"
Her legs are really strong and she's been standing on them for probably almost 2 months?
Her sleepers are 6 month sleepers and she's outgrowing them
We currently have her in size 3 but she probably should still be in 2s. But we're all out of 2s and I had started stocking up on 3s.
***
Her sleep has been HoRRENDOUS. She got sick about 3 weeks ago and it's been spotty since then. Before that she was sleeping 730-2/3am. Now she's up every 2-3 hours and the worst part is last couple nights she won't go back in her crib. So I'm stuck holding her 3/4 of the night.
I wasn't planning on sleep training and even then not till we move into the new house but I can't take too much more of this lack of sleep and whatever sleep I get is sitting up holding her.

@duckduckkristen: we're going with soapstone for our island and butcher block for the perimeter. Either a Jennair or Capital 36" range. And a Samsung French door with bottom freezer and a pull out fridge tray for the kiddos
clementine / 959 posts
@regberadaisy: welcome! We decided on granite for the countertop because we got a great deal on it, but we have butcher block in the basement and it looks nice. Still can't decide on appliances though!
So, Liam must be having a growth spurt or something. Over the last 24 hours he has been eating every 45 min to an hour during the day and every 3 hours at night. Every time he acts like he's starving and eats really fast. He also has started getting distracted while he nurses. He'll turn his head to look at something so my nipple will pop out of his mouth, then he gets frustrated that he's not getting milk anymore!
We put him in his walker today and his legs are too short to touch the ground so we put the brakes on and stuck some cd binders underneath and he loves it. he's getting so into his toys.

Hey everyone! Well, @winniebee convinced me to join this group again. I know I'll have the youngest since she was born June 11th but, whatever. It will be nice to have some ladies to talk to about things you have already been through!
Megan is 10 weeks old tomorrow. She seems to get bigger every day! I wish I had more motivation to work out. Well, I have plenty of motivation - it sits on my belly and love handles - but I just can't get my butt up. Walking is the best I have done.
@winniebee- you look fantastic in your vacation picture!!
I'll catch up with everyone as we go from here. It's too much to catch up from everything I missed! Hope it's okay a June baby is crashing the May party.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@duckduckkristen: I know how you feel about not having a lot of family around. Megan gets soooooooo excited when she sees new faces when we're out and about. Her eyes get all big and buggy. We decided we will take her somewhere new or at least somewhere public every weekend now to make sure she is seeing new things. We don't have a lot of people visit because we're the type of people with "quality over quantity" friends.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@regberadaisy: we are that.
So...when your lo's were younger, did they look off to the side a lot? Megan's eyes wander off to the side a lot. She will look at us sometimes and she will look at her toys and the mirror some imes but most of the time, she will look out of the corner of her eyes...mostly it doesn't appear she is looking at anything. Is that normal?
pomegranate / 3729 posts
@mediagirl: @regberadaisy: welcome to both of you! I know I see pics of Megan on instagram, but it will be nice to hear updates, too! And, regberadaisy, I was supposed to be an April one like you and M but I delivered 2 weeks late!! Can't wait to hear how you are doing:)
@winniebee: the hardest thing for us is that the bedroom is the only room with a/c so I am not aure she should go in her room yet. Maybe I will try the pack and play before the crib? Hmm. You know gow crazy humid it's been, so transitioning to her room may have to wait until fall!
clementine / 959 posts
@mediagirl: Liam still looks off to the side a lot. I think he just likes looking around at everything and since he sees our faces all the time they aren't as interesting to him. Haha.
pomegranate / 3729 posts
@mediagirl: we had a running joke about the ghost in the corner of the room. Penny would always look to the side. Even when video chatting with family, they would say "Penny's looking at the ghost again!". Seems that I notice it less now that she's a little older.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@bpcmarj: @duckduckkristen: I'm so glad it's normal! Love the ghost the corner comment.

Wow! This thread has been really active this weekend....great!
@Goldilocks1107: Audrey looks just like you with that smile! I wonder if she'll be so lucky as to get your curls?!
@regberadaisy: @mediagirl: and @tysonja: Loving that you all joined this thread! Yay.
We just got back from the cottage and now I didn't get to do all my replies yet but I have to go. Just on a little break while DH took Nico for a walk. It's bath time now, so Mommy is back on duty!!
@duckduckkristen: Ah! A walker!!! It's funny because in Canada walkers are ILLEGAL! Yes, illegal. And when I was visiting DH's family in a border town (Sault Sainte Marie), his cousin was trying to convince me to go across to the states to get one. Ha! Meanwhile, when I was in prenatal classes they were all like 'if you know anyone who has a walker, you should convince them to turn it in...." like it's some kind of illegal drug or something. The whole thing is way too funny to me. Anyways, it makes me smile to see your (illicit-for-me) walker.
clementine / 959 posts
@cvbee: haha. I def don't plan on letting him use it as a walker! We have a lot of steps in our house so I can see it being a huge disaster! Luckily our walker has brakes so it can't go anywhere! The only reason we even have a walker is because it was a hand me down from DH's sister's kids.
nectarine / 2039 posts
Nico is sleeping and it's an hour earlier than usual...I think the cottage fun wore him out. Last night at the cottage he would not go to sleep....a problem we've rarely had.
Oh no. typing waking baby. must stop now. bye.

I am glad to see so many people on! We had our only weekend at home this month this weekend, and got a lot of little housekeeping stuff done around the house. It felt good to get the house organized again.
Sawyer has his 4 month shots tomorrow, I am not looking forward to it because DH is too busy at work to come along, so I will be solo and I will have to restrain him myself.
Sleep is still a struggle. I hate this sleep regression business, we get 4 hours at most, and mostly 2 hour stretches of sleep, and lots of fighting sleep and naps. I am hoping our new swaddle sacks arrive soon and that they help. I have caved and have Sawyer co-bedding with me for at least a couple hours per night in despiration, because he sleeps best with me.
@Mrsdaredevil: Good luck with the party and the long day! Sawyer is miserable when he is hot, I am thankful every day we are home in our AC!
@cvbee: I am SO tempted to smuggle in a walker! Our house is almost all on 1 level, and Sawyer would love it so much. I hate that stupid people ruin good products for the rest of us.
clementine / 878 posts
@cvbee: DH hopes she DOESN'T get my curls - because it will make his job of keeping the boys away that much more difficult
@MsMini: Good luck with shots today! I definitely told DH that he HAS to come for the shot appointments because I don't want to hold her down. It's hard enough listening to them wail for 10 minutes after it's over!
Last night Audrey slept from 8 to 3. Which put her squarely in DH's "time slot" for night feedings. And I got an uninterrupted night of sleep! Funny, but I almost feel MORE tired today. And after hearing all the 4-month sleep regressions going on, I'm really not looking forward to losing this awesomeness.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
Did any of you turn to sleep training?
I'm really starting to run on fumes. The worst part is she's gotten to the point where she won't let me put her down. She wakes up every two hours and wants to eat. It's a hit or miss on whether she'll let me put her back in the crib. And most times I'm so tired I end up falling asleep with her in my arms.
Which, I know, is creating the problem.
And. I can't even have a real cup of coffee. F me.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@regberadaisy: oh dear girl you are a better woman than me - I have the real coffee everyday! There's no way around it wig sleep deprivation.
@goldilocks1107: go audrey! The night I got 7 hours sleep i felt more tired the next day too.
@msmini: good luck with shots today : (
@cvbee: why are these walkers so evil in Canada?!
Tyler did 6 in rock n play, then I tried him in the crib and he
only slept 1.5! Ugh so I moved him back to rock n play where he slept another 3. I'm determined to break him o he rock n play habit in thE next month.
clementine / 959 posts
I found this article on kellymom about the 4 month sleep regression and it seems pretty spot on for us. Liam is so active and interested in playing and exploring that he doesn't eat as much at a feeding, so he winds up hungry more often. Hopefully this distractedness won't last too much longer.
http://kellymom.com/parenting/nighttime/4mo-sleep/
Oh and he laughed for the first time last night while I was tickling him. So cute!
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@bpcmarj: I agree with the breastmilk... Gabriel has had a few weeks of icky gunky eye--all cleared up now. It wasn't an infection though. It was a blocked tear duct. I think it was from 1 or 2 weeks to 4 or 5 weeks.
@regberadaisy: Why would you stop her from sucking her thumb? When Gabriel found his thumb, he was able to self soothe at night (sometimes) and let me sleep more! Of course he has now un-found it and we are hoping he finds it again!
Re; Sleep training--sometimes I am just too tired to deal with it and let him cry for longer than I would if I were less tired. And sometimes he goes back to sleep. This is heartbreaking to hear him cry, but it works sometimes. Also, lately I try to give him a pacifier and rub his belly for a minute when he wakes up crying--so far it has only put him back to sleep once and all the other times I have to feed him anyway.
@Mrs.M57: How is sleep now? I hope you had a good few nights!
@Mrsdaredevil: 10 hours? 100 people! Please update on how it goes. Good luck!!
(and @bcpmarj) My books say handedness can't really be determined before age 2--those parts of the brain aren't don't being wired yet.
The heat was really bad here (DC) recently, but yesterday was actually really nice--overcast and humid but maybe in the 70s without that direct sunlight. We went to a museum.
@winniebee: How much sleep did you get last night? We got 7.5 hours--the longest so far! WOO HOO! I hope you got something decent after that 9 miracle.
We have had Gabriel in the crib (on and off) since we got home from the hospital... but we surround him in rolled up towels so he can't roll over or kick himself awake.
(Well... 3 towels, one on each side, up to almost his neck, and one at his feet. None over his head just in case he rolls over somehow.)
@duckduckkristen: We had that growth spurt earlier this week, and I hear you on dealing with a baby who eats so greedily that he falls off the boob and gets all mad about it! Love the photo in the walker.
Mmm grilling! How long does the renovation last? I could probably live off just a grill for a month...
And hooray for laughing!
@mediagirl: Walking totally counts. I got a Striiv pedometer and it issues challenges to get you moving and I walk almost 10,000 steps a day now that I have that for extra motivation.
Gabriel always looks at random things/off to the side (still, especially if he's overstimulated).
I am also going to the gym 5-7x/week, run-walk intervals 5x and yoga once and pilates once. Weight loss is ridiculously slow and frustrating.
@cvbee: Illegal to have a walker? Why? We still haven't gotten anything new (gear) since the swing. He seems to be outgrowing it... What gear do you have? (obviously not a walker
@MsMini: Nothing like a clean house! glad you got a calm weekend home. Is he still pukey? Good luck with the 4 month shots!
@Goldilocks1107: SMILE!! How cute! Happy 3 months!
Love your husband's comments about the curls! And yes, I am terrified of the sleep regression. My Dr. Spock book says putting the baby down drowsy before his sleep starts becoming more like an adult's (4 month) will help him learn to put himself back to sleep when he starts waking up more... I really hope it's true!
We're going to the doctor today--he's had a cough for a couple days and I just want to make sure he's OK. He screams when he is set down on his back (like "I am in pain" scream) regardless of if he just ate or hasn't eaten in 4 hours. He is super pukey and has green snot in his puke. In one hour I can start getting us ready to go. It's probably just a cold, but I've been worried for a few days and DH is worried, too.

Anyone else started babyproofing? I bought outlet plugs last week (and need to buy more because holy hell we have a lot of outlets!).
I'm trying to decide what to do for cord shorteners - we have a ton of blinds in the house and I am not replacing them for more baby-friendly versions!
Same with baby gates for the stairs. I really don't want ones we have to drill into the bannister.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@Goldilocks1107: hair ties work great!
We covered all our plugs, are putting some shelved things in more enclosed drawers within the shelves and put plug covers in... but I don't think he'll be mobile until we move out of this place...
