Had my 38 week appointment today, and still no signs of upcoming labor. She hasn't even dropped yet. ugh. At this point, I'm just so ready to be done! Hope everyone else is feeling good today!

@marriedandlovingit: The growth chart is so sweet! I can't wait to decorate a little boys room.
@duckduckkristen: I'm glad I'm not the only one. You're right though, its almost a pattern of its own that she'll have that quiet day every now and again. Ugh. So hard not to worry.

@jennylynn: Hang in there! You're getting so close and yet I'm sure it feels like there's no end in sight

@LAGS: thanks i feel like these last few weeks have been the hardest. Mostly just because of the anticipation of meeting our girl, and not being pregnant anymore! But you're right. I'm almost there, and so are the rest of you ladies!

@winniebee: Well, I will keep my fingers crossed that you are off of bed rest (and still have winnie baby cooking) when my induction process begins!
@cvbee: The kids sound sooo cute! I am excited to have an induction date now, although it is weird to know that the end is so close!
grapefruit / 4056 posts
@LAGS: I am glad you are feeling better. Being sick + pregnant is just no fun at all! The induction is due to my complications, we hadn't intended to induce, but the combination of high BP, GD and other issues cropping up increase the chances of fetal distress, so better to get baby out when it is term, but still doing well.
@marriedandlovingit: I definitely thought I would feel a difference when baby dropped, it is just very subtle! Now that I know it has dropped, I can identify the differences.
@jennylynn: I hope your baby makes some progress soon!
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@winniebee: Guess that just shows they were right to put you on bedrest. Glad you're doing OK now.
@jennylynn: Aww, some babies don't drop until during labor. I know it's something you look for as a sign of impending labor, but it doesn't mean it's going to be later.
The anticipation is crazy. Even now, when I have over a month to go, I'm still full of anticipation.
@MsMini: Eek! a solid "due date" for induction-- so exciting! It sounds like it's really the right thing for you, and I hope it makes you happy to know when baby will arrive.
Glad you got some real sleep, too!
And... I wonder if my baby dropped--when I'm not super busy at work I think I have to pee every 5 minutes (no joke, tried 3 times last night after brushing my teeth and being ready for bed--only a few drops all 3 times!)
@winniebee: your shower sounds awesome! I'm so glad you got to go after all. Sounds like you made out a like a bandit. A well loved bandit
@nskillet: sounds like such a great shower. Thanks for sharing details
@goldilocks: Thanks for the tips. I am pretty curious about that. I may just go for a towel. I am definitely not going to use nothing though. We'll see. I'll have to do some research.
AND --- Hahhahah, too early to waddle? I definitely have the waddle, too.
@volksgirl64: glad you had a good b-day party. Sounds pretty awesome.
shortcake: 2 showers in one weekend? You must be exhausted!
And, no, we don't have names picked out, but I think at the end we're just going to choose the name I hate that my husband decided he wanted for his son back in high school, well before we knew each other.

@jennylynn: Sorry, girl! Just know that labor signs (dilation, dropping, etc) can change on a dime!
@MsMini: Thx! I will be just about 36 weeks when you are induced. Suddenly, that doesn't seem too far away!
@pastemoo: Do you have any names that you really like? I feel like boys names are so much harder than boys names.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@cvbee: Um the story about the little kids is just adorable!! Do you like the 1/2 days of work? It seems like it might be ideal : )
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@LAGS: I used to feel that way (days of lots of activity, followed by a quiet day. I think that the less active days are days when you are more active. Now that I'm laying around all day, he's pretty active all day long and I notice his sleep patterns (sleep for 30 mins, active for 30 mints). Not much else for me to do : )
@marriedandlovingit: The baseball themed nursery sounds adorable!

For names, I think we are down to Tyler John and Owen Taylor....maybe Taylor John, but I think we are both leaning towards Tyler...I don't think we will decide until we see him though.
Today should be a good day of bedrest. I have an ultrasound to check on baby's growth - I feel like I haven't gotten any bigger in the last few weeks, but I also think baby is sitting a lot lower. Not nervous, just hope he's put on some weight since our last ultrasound. My husband is in surgery all day, so mom is coming down to bring me to the appointment. Then, she's going to help sort through all the baby gifts we got at our shower (ok, she'll be doing all the work while I direct from the couch....). Then my friend is visiting this evening to bring us dinner.

@LAGS: thanks! DH dreamed her name before we knew she was a she! It's very very sweet.
I'm having the same paranoia today. My LO has never been the overly active type. I've always said she was a couch potato and the anterior placenta/carrying all belly weight as a plus sized mom I figured was normal. Last night/today I have felt way less movement and I am freaking myself out with it. I feel like she may have dropped last week because I had horrible back pain/ pressure and now I'm having regular pressure and sharp pains down town. If I'm on my feet too long I feel a million years old. Going to pay attention today and if she's still not moving much by end of day might call my OB. I felt her like punching my vagina last night though! Her movement just feels different since last week!

Based on some googling, it sounds like something thin (like a light blanket or possibly a cotton bathmat) might be okay to put under the car seat base. I plan to ask about it when we take my car to get inspected (after we buy the second base!).
From what everyone is saying, it does sound like what I interpreted as huge baby movement are actually BH contractions. Who knew?!?
I think we found our daycare provider last night. The couple does day care out of their home and have been doing it for 30+ years. Babies have their own bassinets until they're able to roll around, then they get a pack n play to keep them safe from the toddlers. Plus, it sounds like babies get lots of holding time, which is great. DH and I both agreed that it's the right place for an infant, but since the toddler program is a little underdeveloped, we'll probably switch around age 2 to a more "educational" setting to help prep her for school. Just need to fill out the contract and drop it off today to reserve the opening available at the end of August. What a relief!

@msmini - how exciting to have an induction date! DH & I were just talking last night about how much better it would be if we had any idea about when labor would start. We're definitely planners by nature.
@goldilocks1107 - isn't it a relief to find a daycare? Glad to hear you found a good one!
@cvbee - how cute that the kiddos felt the baby!!
We went for a walk last night and took a wrong turn and ended up going 2 miles! Surprisingly, I didn't feel too bad when it was done, just tired.
Tomorrow we get to tour a different daycare for DD. It's at a church and it has more of an educational program. She's in a home daycare right now and we'll probably send DD#2 there but I'd like to get DD1 in a preschool setting.
As for names, I'm pretty sure we'll be naming her Theresa (after my mom) and calling her Reese. Middle name will be either Lynn or Judith (after MIL). I haven't told anyone in real life so you ladies are pretty much first!
persimmon / 1134 posts
thanks ladies! I'm hanging in there!!!
@winniebee: Good luck at your u/s!
@Nskillet: How far along are you? I noticed a change in the type of movement I felt at around 34-36 weeks. It wasn't so much kicking and punching, but more of a squirming sensation. I hope everything is ok!
@Goldilocks1107: I actually found a seat protector made by Munchkin (I think?) at Walmart for like 10$. And yay for finding your daycare!
Have you guys already picked your peditrician? I feel like I'm majorly slacking in that area! I've got one picked out, I just need to make a phone call and be sure she's accepting patients. I need to get on it!
clementine / 959 posts
@Nskillet: I have an anterior placenta too and I think it limits the amount of movement I feel. Now that he's bigger, it's not so much of an issue for me, but I have never felt ANY movement in the middle of my belly, only on the sides. I also get lots of vagina punches. Have you tried laying down and doing kick counts?
@jennylynn: We picked a pediatrician, but don't plan on meeting with them. It's actually a group of docs and when I called they said to just call before I leave the hospital to schedule an appointment for a day or two later since they don't have privileges at the hospital where we are delivering. We chose this group because everyone else in my husbands practice uses them for their kids and likes them. Plus they are close!
I think I had BH for the first time last night. After running errands and organizing baby stuff all day, I finally laid down and started feeling tightness/pain in my belly and lower back. At first it freaked me out, but they weren't regular and went away after a couple hours so I'm going to assume everything is fine.
I can't share my name on here because one of my real life best friends is on HelloBee and I'm paranoid she'll see it. My husband is Vietnamese so we'll be giving LO his middle name (Thanh, pronounced Tan). It's also his dad's middle name and it turns out those two will have the same initials, which I'm sure DH's dad will love. LO's first name will be a more American name, although there is a Vietnamese name that is very similar so I'm sure the grandparents will be able to pronounce it (their English isn't perfect).
persimmon / 1099 posts
@jennylynn: 34 weeks + 2 at this point and it's definitely an occasional jab but more pushing/ squirming sensation. Sure enough as soon as I hit reply I got 10 movements within 30 minutes or so she just must be sleeping at long clips at this point. Does anyone else have almost a uterine pain? Its almost TMI behind the clitoris feeling? I swear this baby has to have dropped.
clementine / 959 posts
@Nskillet: glad you got some movement! I know that feeling! I get it sometimes when LO punches. It's pretty weird.
clementine / 878 posts
@jennylynn: I met with a pediatrician a few weeks ago, had a quick 10 minute chat and that was that. With our health plan, there were only 2 pediatricians in our town (suburb), so that made our decision pretty easy!
@Nskillet: That's what happened with me last week - I was getting really concerned about lack of movement and BAM squirmy baby for an hour.
persimmon / 1099 posts
@duckduckkristen: right? Man I have to admit these last few weeks are just brutal and the fun has just started! My concentration at work is pretty much out the window. All I can think about is all the baby organizing I need to do but by the time I'm home at night I'm exhausted, and I work in an office!
DH and I met with a pediatrician last week and have selected him and his practice. We have all the major stuff out of the way thank god!

@Nskillet: I know the feeling you're talking about. It's such a weird sensation. I feel like they are cervix punches or something, but they feel soooooo low sometimes!

@Nskillet: Same here! And it doesn't help that my workload is already starting to slow down. I don't know how I'll get through the next 7 weeks!

@pastemoo: Thanks! I do think that induction is the right thing for protecting me and baby. DH is kind of freaking out, because we aren't likely to be done renos by then. It does sound like your baby has dropped, it is really subtle, which surprised me!
@winniebee: It really isn't too far away at all! Good news for both of us! Enjoy your US today!
@Nskillet: Whenever my LO is a little quiet, I lie down and do a kick count, it always makes me feel better.
@Goldilocks1107: Congrats on finding a daycare provider!
@volksgirl64: It is weird having an end date in mind, I always pictured labouring at home for a while, then heading into the hospital, this way we will have a date and time to show up, then once we are there being back and forth for a few days of "soft induction" before the big guns IV induction.
@jennylynn: We decided to take baby to our family doctor rather than a paediatrician. I work with all the pads in our city, and none are a very good fit for us, our family doctor however was awesome.
@marriedandlovingit: Ugh! I am SO TIRED lately, I feel like I am going to grow into the couch or something. I have projects to do, but I just can't get started.

So, what's left on everyone's "before baby comes" to-do list?
Now that we've secured daycare, here's what we have left:
-Finish packing hospital bag
-Decide on a name (or two)
-Make a few frozen meals for post-baby
-Decide on baptism
-Find out how to add baby to DH's insurance (and how to sign up for the flex spending money for daycare)
Not a lot left to do!

Mine is:
Organize nursery
Buy dresser
Wash all baby clothes
Pack hospital bag
Wow, I guess not that much!!

The appt today was uneventful which is a good thing :). Before he checked my cervix he said that it looks like our son is going to be hanging out in my belly a while longer, and sure enough the cervix is closed. I would love for him to show up at the end of April (edd May 1st), but I obviously don't have much say in that
@Nskillet & @MsMini: Okay, so at least I don't feel so bad about feeling so tired now! My husband has been incredible this entire time. He is so patient with me, and understands that I feel like crap now non-stop. I hope I get that nesting instinct soon! I need that burst of energy to get stuff done.
@winniebee: Tyler is a cute name! Looking forward to hearing how your appointment went today!
My husband is going to be so excited when he gets home to find the stroller and the Mamaroo have arrived. He loves putting all of this baby gear together.

@volksgirl64: I never thought of the nickname Reese for Theresa - I love it!
@jennylynn: We picked one - when I was in the hospital I called around based on a few recs. from friends. We are going with our neighbor's pediatrician who is in the same practice group as my care. We wanted someplace close to home with weekend/urgent care hours. We won't get a chance to interview her since I'm on bedrest (unless I make it to term) but that's OK with me..
@marriedandlovingit: Glad your appt went well! Are you 36 wks now?
***
Ultrasound today went well. Baby looks great - happy baby, good fluid, good cord, good heart, good movement, etc. He's still on the smaller side - 3 lbs 8 oz, so up about .6 oz from about a week and a half ago - which is 23% percentile for 32 weeks. The good news is he's putting on weight and doctor said he's not at all concerned by his growth or percentile. That's good, because there's pretty much nothing I can do about it. I eat plenty and rest all day long. I just wish he was 4 lbs - somehow that seems a lot bigger to me. Hopefully another week he'll be up in that range.
Afterwards, my mom came over and she unpacked all the shower gifts and started putting them away. We also took a quick run through the clothes - I have plenty of newborn and 0-3 stuff, a good amount of 3-6 (though some of it is kind of random), less but more appropriate stuff for 6-9 and probably 5-6 outfits for 9-12. So I probably need to get a little more 3-6 but not too worried about that yet, Next week she plans to come down and help me wash everything and figure out what else we need. Definitely made lots of progress!

@winniebee: Sounds like a great appt and your son is healthy! If the Dr isn't concerned about the size, then all should be good :).
Yes, I am 36 weeks today. I just posted my 36 week bump on the bump love thread on wb

Ha! What isn't left on my to-do list (we are SUCH slackers):
- Start and finish decorating nursery
- Have my baby shower (1 1/2 weeks to go)
- After shower, buy remaining registry items needed
- After shower, install car seat
- Finish lower level renos
- Start and finish packing hospital bag (will do this after going home for shower)
- Wash and put away baby clothes (need nursery done first)
- Wash cloth dipes 2 more times and stuff pockets
@marriedandlovingit: Just checked out your bump pic! You look awesome!
@winniebee: Glad baby is looking happy and growing well on your US. Fingers crossed he does some good growing this week!

@MsMini: Thank you!
Don't feel bad about having a ton left to do! I like to think we are making good headway, but there is still so much left for my husband and I to do! It will all get done though
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
My to-do list kind of scares me! Supposedly I have more time than the rest of you, but who knows.
- Shower thank you notes
- Organize insurance/switch to DH's insurance with baby
- Research and apply for life insurance
- Purchase remaining *must haves* from registry - crib mattress, breast pads, bottle rack, and a few more random things
- Purchase sheets, bedskirt, curtains, carpet (had it all figured out at PB Kids, then it all got backordered til like July...)
- Look for wall hanging or wall decal for nursery (am stumped)
- Organize and wash baby clothes, blankets, towels (mom will do for me next week)
- Watch some BF videos online (since I can't go to my class)
- Pack hospital bag (not in a rush to do this)
- Install car seat
clementine / 959 posts
@Goldilocks1107: We have to:
- buy frames for artwork I bought for nursery and buy a rug
- wash clothes, sheets, blankets, etc.
- pack hospital bags
- make frozen meals (we looove soup!)
- finish thank you cards
- hospital tour
- do a good deep cleaning of the house
- install car seat
We're going to be away for a week, and I won't get any of that done this week since I'm getting everything ready for our Easter party, so I'm left with about 3 weeks to get everything done!

@Nskillet: Should i wash all the baby clothes before she comes? I didn't know if it would be better to have her wear them once and then wash them....I heard that it's good to wash them because then if the clothes shrink you can see what size they "really fit" if that makes sense...
@Goldilocks1107: Left on our list:
*Pack my hospital bag (baby's bag is already packed)
*Finish making the crib bumper... this project is taking forever! I am not really in a rush though because we don't plan to put her in the crib for a couple months.
*Finish thank you notes for shower
That's about it! We have pretty much finished the nursery and picked out pediatrician. We have even installed the carseat into my SUV!
@winniebee: My brother's name is Tyler! I love both of your name choices.
You should just search "nursery decor" or "nursery wall hanging" on etsy. I think you would find lots of unique and affordable options!
A few updates:
I have my first pre-natal massage tomorrow! I can't wait. I have been having lots of aches and pains in my back, and since baby is so low I constantly feel achy and sore in my pelvic area and upper thighs. I have been sleeping with a heating pad! Hopefully this massage will cure some of my aches. My insurance covers it (I get up to 10 a year) and my co pay is only $10. YAY!
Anniversary celebration with hubby was awesome! In the morning we made a big waffle breakfast. In the afternoon, we went down to the waterfront (first sunny day in MONTHS, still 50 degrees) and shared a deli sandwich and had a little picnic. Then in the evening we went out to a nice dinner and it was soooo delicious! We had gotten a giftcard from a friend, so we didn't even have to pay much!
As a "gift," DH cleaned out my purse and my wallet for me and then transferred all of my stuff into a new purse. What a sweetie!
This afternoon hubby asked me "hypothetically" if I would rather get another diamond band to add to my e-ring/wedding set, or an emerald right hand ring (May birthstone) as a gift. I didn't know which one to pick... what would you choose?
I have an appointment on Monday for an internal check and ultrasound. I am honestly really excited because I know baby is super low and dying to come out. I also wonder what my blood pressure will be, and if doctor will mention anything about induction. It finally feels like I am getting so close! I started watching Mad Men on Netflix, so now I have something to pass time until baby comes. The show has been pretty good so far--maybe it will make time go by quickly!
Sorry for going on and on. Hope you all are feeling wonderfully--I love reading all your updates!
Happy for Ms.Mini and the induction date--it really gives you something to look forward to! YAY!

@Mrsdaredevil: Apparently it's recommended to wash the clothes etc before first use to remove any traces of chemicals/germs left over from manufacturing etc. I suppose we're all going to be drowning in extra laundry soon enough so why not:)
Glad to see you're all doing so well, everyone seems to be in great form in our final month!
I'm really feeling the tiredness now. Went shopping this morning to get all of the hospital bag stuff and got all except slippers and dressing gown. Was supposed to grab some groceries then, but I just could not be bothered! Neither interest nor energy. So it was chuck in the oven stuff for dinner here today:)
Had another growth scan monday, twin 2 has finally got the memo and moved her ass- literally- she's no longer breech, she's between transverse and actual head down, and it seems like she's trying to headbutt her way out my side the last couple days! They're 4.8 and 4.0 lbs respectively, so all is well on that front. My blood pressure was a wee bit high, but I'm choosing to think of that as a one off so as not to stress myself into it getting even higher! Swollen ankles have arrived here too - not in a huge way, and only at night, but uncomfortable all the same.
I was supposed to have an epidural fitness assessment today but it got postponed to this day two weeks. Does anyone know what that entails? Consultant said the basic idea is that the anaesthetist doesn't meet me for the first time at maybe half five on a Sunday morning;)
That's all the news on this side of the pond right now: I am absolutely not discussing the horror that is our to-do list:)

@winniebee: DH shot down all the ones that I even a little bit liked. I just... F it. I hate being pregnant, and I'm going to make up some nickname for the kid anyway, so what does it matter what his real name is?
@Nskillet: You can always call the doc. They can either help you relax about it, or have you come in and then not have to worry.
I have an anterior placenta, too. I was surprised though, because I feel like baby is so active. I'm really glad I have the anterior placenta--don't think I could take feeling everything.
@Goldilocks1107: Sounds like a great daycare. And... Yay? BH are ... a milestone, I guess?
@volksgirl64: oh, a 2 mile walk! I would love to be able to do that.
@duckduckkristen: yay for finding a good doctor's office!
@Mrsdaredevil: Oh!! Enjoy the massage. Sounds lovely.
@aunt pol: what is an epidural fitness assesment?
