@Mae: I didn't take a class per se, though I did take a bradley birth class and it was a topic. However I found the nurses and LC most helpful since I had an actual baby at that point. So cool about your appointment! Sounds awesome. Interesting that your mw is a proponent of RRL tea as mine said it didn't matter lol. I should break out my ball again.
papaya / 10343 posts
@iluvpink: @cheesetomywhine: the appointment was super fun! Other than the brief aside about BF, it was my fav appointment I've had other than u/s. Also I guess I don't know that I should say they are "proponents" of RRL tea. I was the one who brought up that, EPO, and the yoga ball. The midwife I talked to today said that they don't believe they make a big enough/sure enough difference to outright tell everyone to use them, however there is certainly enough evidence to support that they MAY help (and at worst, are of absolutely no harm) that if someone is interested in them they think it's a good idea. So I guess more of a "Well it certainly can't hurt and there's a good enough chance it will help that if you're inclined to do it-- great!" sort of attitude.
pear / 1586 posts
@Mae: Understood! I don't drink enough normally so I shall skip the tea. I did use the ball with R as it was fun lol. The only thing they mentioned again was darn perineal massage.
papaya / 10343 posts
@cheesetomywhine: Yea 4 cups/day is a LOT. I do 2 capsules/day and 1-2 glasses of iced tea. much easier for me. Also since it is non-caffeine I count it as part of my water intake. My midwives havent said anything about perineal massage and I have no interest in it so I'm not bringing it up

@Mae: What's the dose on the evening primrose?
ETA: we're not taking a BF class, either, if it's any consolation! It sounds like you have great social support, which I think would go a long way.

Along the vein of the weird sharp/stabbing vaginal/cervical pains folks are having -
Anybody feeling funny achy low back cramps when baby moves? This just started today for me, a little like menstrual cramps that I'd feel in my back but very brief, only with fetal movement.
I'm thinking maybe that's a sign of moving lower? Or maybe I just overdid it yesterday on my feet all day, since everything else is achy, too...
papaya / 10343 posts
@anandam: When we discussed it in office, she told me 2 capsules orally and 2 capsules vaginally every day. Although she said that some people get diarrhea with it, so if that is the case try 1 pill orally or skip oral all together if I need to. The handout she gave me says "500mg every 6 hrs while awake by mouth and 100mg vaginally each evening" So it seems like the handout is saying probably more like 3 pills orally? But I think I'll just do 2, one morning and one night.
papaya / 10343 posts
@anandam: My back has been hurting more but I haven't noticed it associated with movement so I figured it was just overcompensating for my front. lol

All this talk about the bf class has made me both excited and apprehensive because my class is tonight. It was free through my insurance but I hope it's not a waste of time. I've done research on it but I'm excited for me (and DH) to hear about it from someone else. Of course it's also reassuring that there will be LCs available at the hospital too.
My back has been hurting too but I think it's more about the extra weight in the front and not sitting in a correct position at work.

@Mrs Hazelnut: I think its exciting that you and your hubby are taking the class together, even if you don't think much of it, it should be great for your hubby to understand what your body, you and baby will accomplished
pear / 1586 posts
@Mae: Haha love it I only drink water (and a random cup of herbal tea maybe once a week?) and I still only drink may 3 cups a day. I am constantly working on it!
@Mrs Hazelnut: Hope you enjoyed your class!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Mrs Hazelnut: Come tell us how it was!
@cheesetomywhine: omg how do you function? lol. Honestly I used to be similar but since I started drinking more my body demands it. Like today was super busy for me and all I had until about 8:45 pm was a cup of coffee and two tall glasses of water (4 cups water). I had such a horrible headache from dehydration! I just sat down and downed another 2 tall glasses and I'm starting to feel normal lol.
pear / 1586 posts
@Mae: Lol I don't know! I don't even think I drank that much while I was nursing and my supply was fine. I like to aim for 4 cups a day though. One would think I wouldn't have to pee as often during the day but alas I still go all the time.

My bf class was really useful! We learned about the stages of breast milk and how it changes, bf positions, how much/often a baby eats and so much more. We got a really helpful packet and she led us to some websites that I think will be great resources. I'm happy to share if anyone wants them. The LC who was teaching it was also really appreciative of all the partners who came too. My DH found the class helpful.
I also found out which pump my insurance covers so now I can go read up on that one. Yay!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Mrs Hazelnut: Glad you found it useful!! Had you done much research before and learned new info? Or were you going in sort of "fresh" since you knew you were doing a class anyways? Just asking because those topics were all covered in my Art of Breastfeeding book so I *feel* like I know the info.. but wondering if they gave info beyond that.

So I've decided I'm officially over being pregnant! It's not because of discomfort this time. I'm just ready to meet my son! He has dance parties in my belly every day that almost hurt. I can't wait to see his little face and give him kisses!
Plus I'm ready to stop hearing comments on my size and how big I'm getting. I wish people would just be quiet. Spring is here and I so miss normal clothes! I see everyone in cute clothes and here I am waddling around in maternity stuff, which we know is not as cute.
Six more weeks until I meet my little guy!

@Mamasig: Today I am 35 weeks and I've decided I'm over being pregnant too. I think it's the nice weather we've been having. I'm sick of bed rest - I want it to be real spring and have these babies on the outside already! 35 weeks is still a little early for that though, but when I hit 36 weeks next week I'm really going to be itching for them to arrive!
cherry / 130 posts
@Mrs Hazelnut: I am glad that you two found good use of your class and enjoyed it!
@Mamasig: I hear ya! I want to meet mine little one too! He is, too, making a lot of dance parties in there haha!!! does yours have a specific day of the week where he moves the most? My LO for some reason does it every Friday and some Saturdays. It is so much movement that it even makes me cry of the soreness.
Ladies, I just got back from my u/s to check if the placenta moved out of the exit. It did not! My scheduled C-Section is officially on May 12, but they will do one last scan on May 1st, jut to make sure a miracle did not occurred haha !
Other than that, baby is good, has lots of hair and is approximately 7 1/2 lbs. The doctor said that maybe by the time he is born he could be at 9 or even 10 lbs.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@iluvpink: I find he isn't as active on the weekend. I think it's because I'm moving more so I don't notice it. But he wakes up every day on my way to work. He is just moving constantly! Way more than DS ever did. I had a 10 pounder via c section. They are nice and cuddly-ha ha.

@Mamasig: haha I cant wait for my cuddly chunky monkey bear I always loved chunky babies.

@Mamasig: @twodoghouse: We are totally thinking on the exact same wave length! I'm so ready to meet my babies.
It doesn't help that my dr placed me on hospital enforced bedrest yesterday simply because he feels I need extra monitoring (ok truth is, babies placenta is not as efficient as he would like, and since baby A is breech He doesn't wants to risk anything)
We're aiming for 37 weeks tho, so help me God!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Apex: I'm so sorry you're stuck in the hospital, but glad they are watching you and the babies carefully!
clementine / 770 posts
@twodoghouse: its all good, we getting NST tests twice a day a day now, hence the need to remain in the hospital. I am tempted to opt for CS at 36 weeks, but we'll see how things go.

@Mamasig: I still have to much left to do, so i'm not quite ready to not be pregnant yet! My entire house needs a good deep cleaning before baby gets here And at the pace i'm going, it's going to take me another month to get it all done. I'm definitely ready for the comments on my size to end too though.
@iluvpink: glad to hear everything is good with baby, even if your placenta issues haven't solved themselves. That's so cool that you could tell that he has lots of hair!
@Apex: Sorry to hear that you are on bedrest Hoping that everything stays ok with the babies and that time passes quickly for you!
I just had my checkup today...the found glucose in my urine but didn't seem concerned about it...so I guess it's nothing to worry about. I did lose a pound, which is good since it makes up for the "too much weight" i gained before my last appointment! They said that baby is definitely head-down, so either it was just a butt I was feeling last week, or he turned himself around. yay! Turns out that I won't have another ultrasound to check on measurements, unless I really want one. I'm measuring normally, and according to my doc, the baby's size doesn't increase any risks related to a vbac (seems a bit strange to me...but i guess i will trust him on it).
DD is completely wearing me out. She's a huge cranky pants this week. Probably a combination of DH being gone, a minor case of HFM, and a painful looking tooth coming in. She's absolutely refusing to feed herself (she often refuses at home, but this week she's refusing at daycare as well). Well, our daycare provider has said that she won't feed her, that she has to feed herself (I don't really blame her, she has 5 kids to look after ). But then she told me that in all her years of doing this, she's never had a kid of this age (21 months) that won't feed herself...which of course made me feel like the crappy parent of the year. I pretty much bawled my eyes out all the way to work, thinking that I'm raising a child who can't use a spoon. Anyways, I know she CAN use a spoon, she's just SUPER stubborn and we give into her at home way too much and feed her. But usually she's fine at daycare doing it herself, which is why I've never worried about it. I'm just going to let this week go by and hope it's just a bad week, and that she'll go back to eating normally on Monday!

@Apex: I am sorry for the forced bed rest FX you guys make it to 37 with little to no more problems to face. Keep us posted!
@cookie_dough: I am glad all went well at your appointment. I am sorry your little girl is having a bad week. Hopefully once your DH comes back her mood will change and don't let the lady from daycare get to you, I am sure she has dealt with probably worse, so in my opinion she is just being dramatic about your little girl. Everyone is entitled to have a bad day or week, and your daughter should be no different. *HUGS* hope it gets better!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Apex: Sorry to hear about the bedrest. I hope you are at least able to get plenty of rest while you are there. I know it can be difficult in the hospital setting sometimes.
@twodoghouse: I don't remember if you mentioned this before but do you get to come off bedrest at 36 weeks?
@iluvpink: Glad your appointment went well except for the placenta issue. Fingers crossed it will resolve by the first but if the baby is going to be really big maybe a scheduled c section is not the worst thing.
@Mamasig: I'm opposite! I'm done with being pregnant but want the little guy to stay put a few more weeks so we can finish work on the house!
@cookie_dough: We are having trouble with DS too. He has been super clingy recently and refusing to sleep. It is awful. I think he's getting 2 or 3 teeth in soon which is probably the cause but I also wonder if he does sort of understand what is going on?
Not much new to report here. Dealing with third trimester nausea, more frequent BH, lots of pokes to my cervix, etc. I guess pretty normal pregnancy stuff! How is everyone else feeling?
honeydew / 7230 posts
@cookie_dough: Aw, sorry your dd is having a rough week. I hope things improve with the eating at daycare and home !
@skipra: I'll go off procardia (to stop contractions) at 36 weeks but I'll still be home. My bed rest rules will relax then too. Honestly I'll probably start doing some walking to try to get labor going if we make it that far and just see what happens. My procardia is losing effectiveness already though - I take it every 6 hours but it only keeps the contractions away for about an hour, hour and a half now. So I won't be surprised if things get going naturally once I'm off the meds in a week. But who knows, we could still end up with 38 weekers after all! I'm sorry about your little guy's teething and sleeping problems. Hopefully he's feeling better soon!

So sorry to hear how many of you are so over pregnancy!! I don't think I'm quite there yet. LO is definitely having some crazy dance parties that are occasionally painful and last saturday I actually went to bed in the middle of the day and rubbed my stomach trying desperately to lull her to sleep so she's leave me alone haha. But I think I just don't feel quite ready... mostly work wise. Once I have stuff buttoned up there I will feel more like okay, NOW she can really come.
@iluvpink: oh my goodness so big already! I'm so curious how big my LO is. Are you measuring on target? I wonder if that has much to do with the size of the baby. Also, sorry about the placenta issue I had that at first but mine luckily moved. It is sort of nice to have an eviction date though right? Something real to count down to!
@Apex: sorry you're stuck in the hospital twin pregnancy is really no joke.
@cookie_dough: i'm sorry you're having a rough week! And extra sorry you're also pregnant and can't pop open some wine to cope... lol. I've been thinking a lot this week how much I really miss that after a really hard day!
@skipra: nausea again? not cool. I am feeling pretty good considering (this has become my standard answer... as I just assume some level of "ugh" is inevitable at 36 weeks). I don't love getting beat up by LO when she is particularly cranky about her lack of room... but her being my daughter I assume she's got some opinions already and is just insisting on making herself heard via the only method currently available to her (pummeling the crap out of whatever organ is nearest).

@Mae: Do you still have lots more to get done at work? I work in law as well. I am a paralegal and I can only imagine you being the attorney how much more you must have going on. Actually I am measuring right where I am supposed to, so when the doctor told me the baby is approximately 7 1/2 lbs and by birth he might be 2 to 3 lbs more, it really surprised me. I also gained only 19 lbs so far, so again I didn't think baby will be so chunky haha ..... She said that if big babies run in the family and if either myself of my husband were big babies then that plays a roll too. I was a premature baby, so I don't count, my DH was a 6 and something pound twin, which she said is pretty big for twins and everyone in his family and mine have had big babies. My mom says that one of my older brothers was close to 11 lbs at birth. Ay yi yi!!!! so yeah maybe a C-Section with a big baby isn't so bad after all
papaya / 10343 posts
@iluvpink: lol seriously. I'm slightly concerned that I'll have a ginormous baby, but trying to have faith in my body I was 9lb12oz, although I was also 2.5 weeks late. My husband was over 10 lbs, but he was also almost 2 weeks late and his mom had gestational diabetes. So I'm hoping it was more circumstance than genetics that made us huge... but who knows lol. I've been feeling like she won't be too big because I am measuring right on track and I haven't gained much, but I guess she will just be what she is!
As for work.. yes. Ugh. It is really stressing me out right now. I work for a small office (just me and the managing partner, we don't have any support staff) and to be honest I do 90% of the work including all of the administrative stuff. And he doesn't really have a plan for when I'm gone it doesn't seem like. So I've tried to schedule stuff in all my cases to get the big stuff out of the way before I go (like I'm trying to get the bulk of discovery done so he can focus more on easy stuff like negotiation and trial prep if necessary), but I feel like every item I cross off my to-do list gets replaced by 3 new issues that come up. And I'm worried about him just running the office while I'm gone. I've made how-to sheets on stuff like how to file documents, how to use electronic dockets, how to get into our bank account online, how to use westlaw, etc because he currently does nothing that requires the internet aside from email... but I'm just worried he'll be unwilling or incapable of figuring it out and I'll be bombarded by calls and emails throughout my leave
cherry / 130 posts
@Mae: Oh my! he sounds like my boss. My boss never, ever even turns his computer on lol ..... Geez! you guys definitely have to get someone to help him while you are out. I almost feel bad for him. It is not going to be fair if you get phone calls and emails when you are gone. You ought to bond and enjoy your newborn, so work should be the last thing on your plate. Really, try to convince him get someone to help, even just a clerk, if he doesn't want someone permanent.
papaya / 10343 posts
@iluvpink: I know, but he will never hire someone (doesn't want to spend the money). There is his son, who graduated from law school 2 years ago and has never practiced law (he's living in the attic of our office trying to be a writer and supposedly helping us at the office but in reality he is basically unavailable to do anything other than the occasional mailing or scanning). I have a meeting with them both next week to brief them on the current status of all of my cases, whats been done, what needs to be done, deadlines, etc. I am also going to make sure they have contact info for everyone we are currently dealing with handy, as well as all the passwords for everything, and the how-to sheets mentioned above. The son is more than capable in terms of doing stuff online so I'm hoping if my boss can't figure something out, he'll ask him rather than me-- but I honestly don't know because he always seems so concerned about "disturbing him while he's writing." I do plan to make my expectations exceedingly clear (I.e. you can call me if you have a true emergency and need information, but otherwise I am on LEAVE and I expect to be left alone... said somehow firmly and yet not as bitchy as it just sounded lol). But at the same time, I'm not covered by fmla so I'm very aware that whether or not I deserve my leave (I totally do after all the stuff I've put up with for years), my job is not actually protected and if he insists on bugging me during leave there just isn't anything I can do about it. Sigh. But that's why I'm working my ass off now to hopefully get everything organized well enough that it minimizes the excuses he would have to contact me.

@mae: you'll probably be fine since you read a book dedicated to bf. I have several books in which bf is covered in a chapter or two but no books dedicated to bf. It was honestly helpful to have the LC explain things in person. And like I said, it was free!
I'm not over being pregnant yet. I love looking at my belly and feeling the kicks (although they are getting painful!) but I AM over being team green! I'm sick of looking at yellow/green clothes and I'm looking forward to some online shopping in the weeks postpartum.

@Mrs Hazelnut: Awesome that your class went well!
I'm also not over being pregnant. I never got that way with R either I am very excited to find out if this is another little lady or a bouncing boy though! Even though I am pretty much 105% convinced it is a boy. I cannot believe how fast it is going. I adore feeling kicks and having a big ol' belly. Today DH asked how I am going to shrink after this one and I told him I have absolutely no idea. I am nervous on how life will be with two and how R will adjust so that is probably another reason why I'm fine with him/her baking for as long as is safe.
On a side note- DH came home with peanut butter pie haagen daz. I was telling him the other day about how good it sounded since peanut butter pie is a favorite of mine and I was so surprised when he brought it home. Cannot wait to try it!

@Mae: Oh boy! hopefully "the writer" gets it right GL mama! and hopefully you don't get bug by anyone while your LO is here. My boss is the same way, he doesn't want to spend the money in someone while I am away. I am bilingual, so most of our clients will need me while I am out, but he just doesn't want to hire a temp for the time being, so I told him that I will help from home, but not right away, that I need to spend time with my baby and I need time for ME to heal after the surgery. Hopefully he did understand, but I still think he should get someone to help.
@cheesetomywhine: how was your peanut butter pie haagen daz? I only eat peanut butter with apples or bananas, but I have to say your peanut butter pie sounds delish! And BTW your DH is so thoughtful

Ahhh anything with peanut butter sounds so delish to me! But unfortunately I got put on a diet at my appointment yesterday. I've gained 10lbs over the last month! That takes me up to 34 gained during pregnancy so far. Surprisingly little G is only 5lbs exact so I'm still en route to having a small baby. But it sucked finding out my weight especially since my maternity shoot was right after the appointment! DH is such a rule breaker though. We went straight to Pizza Hut after the appointment so I could indulge one last time before starting fresh today! Well that turned out to be the second to last time because after 9pm SIL dropped by with my favourite local burgers and I just could not say no! Seriously though, the diet begins today. Sigh
I'm over being pregnant. I've been over being pregnant for a long time lol. The kicks still excite me and I'm sure I'll miss those but I just doubt it'll compare to having him finally in my arms where I can see him! Plus I'm getting a lil tired of sharing my belly. He needs to take up an alternative residence soon. Ha.
My mom flies in this afternoon! I haven't seen her for all of this pregnancy. I'm soooo excited to spend qt with her over the next five weeks, but I do feel a bit guilty for taking her away from my younger siblings for so long - they're 16 & 17. Also, my shower is tmrw and on Sunday we're hosting a lunch after church because... God alone knows when I'll have the energy to do that again and we love having people over. Exciting weekend ahead!

@Glitter: oh now I want pizza and burgers haha! well, one last day of indulging isn't so bad as long as you start fresh today How exciting that your mama is coming to be with you, I am sure your little siblings understand.
