@MRSHONEYBEAR: Yay! So glad you had a good ultrasound!
@whodat: Great news that your betas are rising! They checked mine with my bloodwork but never told me the number either. I bet it's so we don't drive ourselves crazy.
@MamaCate: @sungirl: Congrats and welcome!!!
@mrsog: Good luck today!

Heard back yesterday afternoon that my TSH level is unchanged so I have to see an endocrinologist. Yay.

There are a few of us with either appt's or u/s's tomorrow.....hope all goes well! My appt is 3:15. I expect to pee in a cup, doc to ask me if I am taking pre-natals and hopefully get that piece of paper I can book a dating u/s with!!

@mrsog: hope your appt went well! Looking forward to an update!
@sungirl: welcome!
Thanks all for the welcome wishes! I am not brave enough to be in the 2 under 2 club as my DD will be almost 30 months when #2 shows up, but it will be good to have others with young ones at home to commiserate with!

@mrsog: Can't wait for an update!
I have my dating u/s today at 1:30. So excited! My husband took the whole day off (and I work at home) so today feels weird already. I'm mostly just super excited but it's hard not to be a little nervous too. Just hoping everything looks like it should!

@Mae: good luck today!!! so excited for all of the appointment updates. I'm living vicariously through all of your ultrasounds

@Mae: Good luck today! I'll be thinking of you this afternoon.
I'm jealous of everyone who's already had appointments! My first ultrasound is next Monday at 8:30 am and I am counting down the minutes. Today I'm 6 weeks exactly which seems so real. I don't know why but 6 weeks seems so pregnant compared to 5 weeks. I know that doesn't really make sense, but I guess it's like going from 22 years old to 23. There's no real difference, but it just seems older. That's how I feel today.

@twodoghouse: Makes total sense to me. I was really happy to get to 6 weeks because it felt somehow "legit pregnant" where as 5 weeks felt to me more like.... well sorta pregnant. lol. I'm also super happy to get to 8 weeks on Saturday because that feels even more real to me.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Mae: Ah, 8 weeks! That does feel even more real! I'll be so excited to get there in a couple weeks.

@twodoghouse: i know! i think every even numbered week will feel big to me, for some reason. I was at the grocery store yesterday and chatting to the clerk about these ginger mints I picked up and she said she doesn't understand why people like ginger. I told her I didn't really but I'm pregnant and supposedly it helps calm your stomach (whether it does or not, I'm not convinced, but it seemed worth a try). She asked how far along I was and I said 8 weeks (rounded up! lol) and she was like "oh! so you're like BRAND NEW pregnant!" and I felt like saying..... I guess? But it feels like FOREVER when you feel like crap! haha

Thanks for checking in ladies.. Sorry I didn't update last night but DH left today for a business trip so we spent some time together.
Anyway... the appointment went great! I got to see the little bean in there and see and hear the heartbeat. It was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. She dated me exactly what I thought it was and my due date is May 5th, making me 7w 3ds as of today. We went over a bunch of the basics and they drew blood. I go back to the OB in 4 weeks for a checkup and in 5 weeks (I will be 12 weeks then) I go to the hospital where they do the NT scan.
I am finally feeling relaxed and positive about it now and am so excited to start telling people. My SIL lectured me yesterday about waiting till 12 weeks to tell but she is an over cautious (and pesimistic) person and I said we will do what we feel is right. So probaly by next week or the following everyone will know.
I know there are a few appts today so good luck to you ladies!

@mrsog: yay! So gals to hear things went well and little bean is healthy! i think telling is totally up to you. We waited to tell our immediate families until the 8 wk appt and plan to do the same this time. I hope to hold out until 12 wks for everyone else but we will see how it goes...
I am turning 5 weeks tomorrow so I really feel barely pregnant compared to you ladies. I did make my appt for the second week in October but it is still 3 weeks away! So I am living vicariously through all of you!

@Mae: good luck today! So cute that DH took the while day. Hope everything goes well!

@mrsog: Yay!! I am so happy to hear that things were great. And I don't see anything wrong with telling people at 8 weeks, we're going "public" after the appointment today (i.e. we are telling the rest of our families and our close friends and it will no longer be a secret, but we're not putting it on facebook or anything). At first I felt it was important to wait to 12 weeks but then I did some research and learned that if you hear a heartbeat and things measure on track at 8 weeks your chance of miscarriage is like, less than 2% (compared to .5% at 12 weeks, so only 1.5% difference). Plus I'm finding it very hard to contain this info. I told my parents at 4 weeks and initially they respected my plan to wait until 12 weeks but they are pushing hard to get the news out there. My mom thinks the 12 week rule is silly and that exciting news ought to be shared. So that was pretty much all the pushing I needed to say okay-- if things are good today we're making a lot of phone calls!

@Mae: We told our parents and our BFFs right away and told them not to tell anyone till we said it was ok. My mom is going nuts tho keeping it in. She sees her sisters and father throughout the week and said its so hard to keep it in so if I don't do it soon she might "slip" lol We have no plan on annoucning on Facebook at all so once we tell a few people we will just let the word spread naturaly. I'm pretty excited for it. I agree that now the risk is way low - under 2% is a pretty good probability. And honestly, things can happen at any time and its part of life so God forbid we do have to deal with something, I think it will be ok and in the mean time there is a new life growing in me that deserves to be celebrated!
papaya / 10343 posts
@mrsog: Exactly!! I'm not a very private person so I think my primary reason for wanting to wait was because I didn't want people to think I was silly announcing early. But I think 8 weeks is respectable! And my mom is the same way. The day I told her she begged me to go tell my grandma and she was so bummed she couldn't tell her sister (who she has dinner with every week). She finally told her this week I think because my dad said she had literally been having nightmares that my aunt hated her for keeping this a secret from her and it was stressing her out too much! I'm like omg I don't care that much just tell her haha.

@Mae: isn't it so nice that they are so excited? these are their grandbabies!!
papaya / 10343 posts
@mrsog: I know, it really is wonderful to have my parents be SO excited! I won't get into the whole story but I'll summarize to say-- they were less than convinced when I accepted my husband's marriage proposal (although they love him now, I think!) and that made wedding planning a little bit of a downer from that perspective. It feels nice to have big news and have them be 100% happy/on board!

@mrsog: Congrats on the great appointment and getting to see the baby! I agree to tell people whenever you feel comfortable.

Back!! The appointment went great! No issues or concerns at all. Got to hear the heartbeat at 157bpm. Got to see the blob that I'm told is a baby! lol. It was really super cool and I am just so happy that everything looked good. I measured 7w4d, so 1 day off my calculation. My "official" due date is 5/4. Also she said I can go ahead and tell who I want to tell because the chance of miscarriage at this point is really low. So-- yay!
papaya / 10343 posts
@mrsog: so funny they match!
here is one of my pics. I wish it looked more like a baby and less like a blob, but she said it looked perfect for this age! My husband wants to take this to his office to hang, which I think is super cute.

A "telling people" update. I called my grandma this evening to tell her, and she's a bit hard of hearing. So I told her "So I have some news. I'm pregnant!" and she said "You're where now?" I said "grandma, I'm pregnant." and she said "I can't understand you-- where are you? Why aren't you at home?" (Then I switched to "I'm having a baby" and she got it)
I lol'd.

I didn't read through today's posts, I hope there are some great updates to read! DH is out of town til Sunday, I had a crazy busy day and my appt was part of it! DD is in bed, she was a superstar for 2 hours at doc's office with me, I didn't think it would be that long and wouldn't have brought her had I known, but she was fab. Lots of congrats from doc and nurses, ended up having a pap (I was due, bleh!) telling my iud story 8 zillion times (to intern, my doc brought him to me to tell him, hahaha, some nurses too) they did an internal exam, checked what felt like everywhere else too. Went for bloodwork, got U/S booking sheet and booked for Oct 2nd at noon! Doc meant it "nicely" but said "just in case it's ectopic, after all the iud stuff" so while I know he meant well, just scared me, heaven forbid, so Oct 2nd will be SO good to hopefully see a fluffy thing/blob with a flickering HB!
Ok! Going to get the house tidied, me showered and into bed with some junk food then I will get on my laptop and read and respond properly!

@Mae: adorablob! hahaha. love it!
My first appt was today, too-- based on my LMP, I should be 7w2d, but baby was measuring at 6w6d. Heart rate was around 124, I think. Looking right on track, and we're so glad that there wasn't two of them! LOL.

@Beebug: Ugh I hate when docs say things like that. I'm sure everything is fine but yay for an u/s date to just verify!!
@HabesBabe: yay for precisely one baby! heh. I forgot to even be nervous about 2 babies, but on the way home my husband was like "sooo we would've seen it if it was twins right?" and I was like, YEP! So we're in the clear there too (Not that it wouldn't be wonderful... but ugh I like sleep so much)
