@Mae: I could totally use a nap! I almost called in sick today bc it was so hard to get moving this morning but with the time I will need to take off for appts I really shouldnt waste days

@Mae: I'm with you on that one! sooooooooo ready for a nap. We have a big game of capture the flag with work on wednesday, and I don't really want to explain why I don't want to sprint all over the place...so I may take a sick day on wednesday and get some rest (since I've gotten very little rest at all since getting my BFP)...I think I need one day of just taking it easy.

I WISH i could just throw up already. I've been vomitting very little every day (the type that u just puke up in your mouth or at the back of your throat and then spit in a bathroom sink, sorry that is gross) but every night i get intense nausea and wish my body would just throw it up so I can feel better and rest!
I'm at work sitting with dry crackers and a glass of water, when I would normally be smelling the entire office up with my lunch aroma. A co-worker has already asked another close colleague of mine if I am "OK". Lol.
My appointment is tomorrow and I am getting very nervous about it. Keeping this a secret from most people til the appointment has NOT worked. DH has a larrggee close-knit family and we are part of a very close-knit church and well.. word goes around :). I pray everything is going well and that I only have good news to relay after the appointment.

@twodoghouse: Are you in Central time? Hoping for great news today!
Based on LMP, yes, I think my EDD will be 5/29. Waiting for my beta to join this group !

@kentuckygirl: Yay, so exciting! I hope your dr will agree to moving up your beta!

@Glitter: I'll be hoping everything goes great for you tomorrow! I'm sure it will. And yes. This news is a beast and you can't keep it in. At first we said we were waiting 12 weeks and well... I'm 8 weeks now and damn near everyone knows!
So... stupid question on counting. Does it go like, 8w0d, 8w1d, 8w2d, 8w3d, 8w4d, 8w5d, 8w6d, 9w0d? Or is the first day of the eighth week 8w1d?
Also-- I totally thought that the 2nd trimester started on the 1st day of your 12th week and figured out this week that its actually the start of your 13th week. Bummer for it being a week later than I thought! Although YAY because i'll hit my 2nd tri ON my birthday. happy birthday to me

Morning ladies.... Made 6 weeks Saturday and immediately started puking. And again yesterday morning and this morning. Thought I was getting off easy this time, and also thought I might be having a girl since I never threw up with my daughter. Nope! This is pretty much the same as with my son, except without the excruciating gas cramps (fx those don't show up). All I can say is Thank God for Ginger Kombucha.
But, I'm happy to have gone in for my big bloodwork this morning at my OB's office, which means the ultrasound is only 2 weeks away!
@Mae: That confuses me every time. What helps is I got the What to Expect app and it tells you exactly where you are. Today it says I am 6w2d and in my 7th week. So you don't hit 2nd tri until you are 12weeks, which means you're in your 13th week.
persimmon / 1281 posts
@Mae: I think the first day of the 8th week is actually 7w1d... and the 8 week is completed on 8w0d... hope i didn't make it more confusing!
papaya / 10343 posts
@whodat: cool! I just downloaded it. It says I'm 8w1d (so I guess the week does start with 8w0d?) and in my 9th week.
papaya / 10343 posts
@Glitter: haha you didn't. it just IS confusing. So when people ask how far along you are though-- do you just tell them completed weeks? I'm 8w1d so I'd say I'm 8 weeks until I hit 9w0d right? Or do I say 9 weeks because I'm IN my 9th week?
persimmon / 1281 posts
@Mae: I like to appear farther along so I round it up ha! So right now I am 7w1d and if anyone asks i'll say 8 weeks.... nahh, i'll say 2 months! That sounds cooler
papaya / 10343 posts
@Glitter: lol I know what you mean. so far I've sort of been splitting the difference. For the first few days I round down. And then by like Wednesday (my weeks start Sunday) I round up! haha.

Oh my gosh, girls, it's TWINS! We knew this could happen, of course, having transferred two with IVF, but still. Oh my. Our doctor said they look perfect. We saw the heartbeats and both of them are measuring two days ahead. We go back in two weeks (on my birthday!) to see them again. Here's a picture of our little babes:

@twodoghouse: oh wow!!! Congrats on two sticky babies! Hope they stay right on track! No wonder you have been feeling so yucky!

@twodoghouse: Yay congrats on twins!!!!!
I also had my first midwife appointment and dating ultrasound. Everything looks good, measuring 7w5d, exactly as far along as I thought, with a good heart beat. This pregnancy is starting to feel real for me now! And I love the new practice. There are only 3 midwives and you rotate through them so that you know the person that will be delivering.

@skipra: yay for another good appt report!
I still have to wait 3 weeks for mine and feel like it will be a lot more real once I can see the heartbeat. So excited for all of you!

@twodoghouse: eeeeeeee!!! So you are the one to get the twins!!! Oh I am so excited for you (and a wee bit envious!!!)
I am 7w today! Docs office called and blood and urine they took last week (what felt like a zillion vials of blood) all came back good! U/S next week, and yah this crazy nausea? Oh man, last night I felt like I went to bed like a drunk teenager, just wanted to puke or fall asleep!!!

@skipra: yay for good appt and awesome to be on track timingwise to where you thought you were! Nothing like "losing" a few days and having to set your dates back a bit! Glad you like the clinic and midwives, so important!

@twodoghouse: double congrats, mamma! So exciting! Can't wait to hear about your journey.

@skipra: woo hoo! Awesome news on your appointment. It sounds like you found a comfortable, intimate office. How long do your appts last with your midwife? I'm feeling a little rushed at my dr office.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@MamaCate: @cookie_dough: thanks!
@Beebug: Good news for good test results! Yay! I love it when we switch weeks, hooray for making 7w!
@MRSHONEYBEAR: This was my first appointment so it was probably longer than usual. We went over a bunch of health history and questions I had, as well as doing an exam. I think normally appointments are 10-20 minutes? I do remember last time that I felt pretty rushed at most appointments, but if there is something worrisome then your appointment will take longer.

I am late to the party. Just found this board.
EDD if you have one: May 10th
When Did You Find Out?: Last week Tuesday- at 6 weeks. It was an oops pregnancy.
Child Number: #1
Where You Live: Washington DC
What kind of provider will you see?: I am seeing an obgyn who will also deliver the baby. Wanted consistency.
When's Your First Appointment?: Had my first one last Friday. Did u/w, blood etc. Baby was at 6 weeks with heartbeating
What kind of birth do you want?: One that does not result in hemorrhoids. I read about this..... and terrified!
What You're Most Excited For: Announcing and nesting and nursery and baby!
What You're Most Scared About: An unhealthy baby
Symptoms so far: Just call me Mrs.Pee-A-Lot. But otherwise feeling really good.
Any fun plans for the end of summer/fall?: We had grand plans for a 'year of fun'. Some of it might be cut back, but involves mostly fun travel.

@Coopersmama: welcome! So glad to have another May mama joining us! What great news about your ultrasound! Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy!

Thank you @mamacate. I know people always say this, and I thought it sounded cheesy, but I have never felt happier (and anxious) all at once.

@Coopersmama: It can be such a roller coaster ride! I am on pregnancy #2 and my first pregnancy was so boring in such a good way--everything on track, no crazy side effect/symptoms, healthy mama and healthy baby. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my luck holds with this one....and now i hope everyone has a "boring" pregnancy like I did!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Coopersmama: welcome! I hope the happy stays and the anxious abates a bit as you get used to the idea! It did for me anyways. The first 1-2 weeks after I found out I was just terrified of losing it. At this point I know it still COULD happen but honestly I'm not worried about it. My doc said by the time you hear a heartbeat, the chance of miscarriage drops under 10%. So, try to relax and just soak in this huge change! Also I'm personally avoiding thinking about/dealing with things that don't HAVE to be dealt with right now that stress me out (like figuring how what to do about work and daycare). I highly recommend this avoidance tactic hehe.

@mae...... Argggghhh- daycare. One of my friends as well as a neighbor told me that as soon as I conceive I needed to start getting on the list for infant daycare. I thought they were kidding. Then yesterday I called the place I would want (it is a block from my house, and ranked really high)- and the woman on the phone said, "well..... We have one more spot left for infant care for September 2014" imagine my shock that some crazy 4/5/6 week old mommas are already out there getting slots at daycare. So I joined the crazy mommas and will be dropping off my application this a.m.
@mamacate- yeah for boring pregnancies. I will take it and embrace it.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Coopersmama: Welcome! I'm glad you've been feeling good so far and that you've already had an appointment, seen the heartbeat, etc!
That is so crazy about the waitlist for daycare! Do you live in a big city? I can't imagine figuring out all those details so far in advance! I'm overwhelmed by the decision of what to eat for lunch right now.
papaya / 10343 posts
@Coopersmama: seriously, where do you live?! I live in Columbus, Ohio so I'm hoping its not quite as bad here. Although honestly if I knew for sure we were doing a traditional daycare I'd probably start looking now. My thing is that I work from home 100% of the time. And I feel really weird about dropping my kid off somewhere else to be watched all day then coming home alone. I'm not so naive as to think that I could watch my own kid + keep working full time from home, but I feel like there has to be some other option... like maybe a part time daycare or a nanny share or something? I just really don't know yet.
apricot / 365 posts
@Coopersmama: @Mae: DH asked me if we could get on the waiting list at daycare before the baby was even conceived! I said we at least need a due date. I'm planning on waiting until I'm at least 8 weeks, maybe 12. Our daycare (where DS is at now) is really great, run by a university so they have not only the regular staff but also work study students. So in the infant class, there were 5 or 6 babies, two "teachers," and usually at least 2 students. The problem is they only take new babies in August, and they have to be 4 months old, and this LO will only be 3 months old by August, yikes.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Coopersmama: Welcome!!! Congratulations and I hope you continue to feel great! I hear you on the daycare. I live just outside Boston and I think we have some of the most expensive daycare in the country. The only really convenient center option is nearly $600/week and in the basement of an old school, so I stay home now. I've heard it's really bad in DC as well. My friends use a YMCA down there and love it. Not sure if that's an option for you too?
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Mae: One of my friends works from home 4 days a week and her kids are in daycare. I think it was part of the agreement allowing her to work from home rather than commuting to the office. You might want to check with your employer because a lot of them are pretty strict about that.
papaya / 10343 posts
@skipra: I have a weird work situation. I've worked at home 100% since I started 6 years ago. And I don't have a contract. It's just my boss and me and he doesn't have any actual policies, we just always sort of play things by ear and take them as they come up.
