Ugh - work has been so busy, I'm finally getting caught up on all the posts!! I've been so behind. Seeing everyone's appointment news is making me anxious for my appointment next week. I don't think it will really sink in until we see the doctor.
@glitter: I'm SO glad your blood draw went well I'm already starting to dread starting all of that again.
@twodoghouse: congratulations on the twins!! So exciting!
@HabesBabe: sorry to hear about your UTI. That sucks. Hope it gets better soon!
I'm a little nervous b/c last time my boobs were gigantic and I was already so sick by this point, but this time nothing. Except the fact that I need to eat like every 5 minutes or I think I am going to die. Is anyone else starving constantly??
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@Keds: I have been pretty hungry--lots of snacks at work-- and chowed down on chipotle last night . No nausea yet but I am only going to be 6 weeks Friday. How far along are you?
papaya / 10343 posts
@Keds: Not every five minutes, but about every 1-2 hours yea! It's not even so much that I want to eat as the moment I start to get my stomach empty I get sick. So I've been having either fruit or crackers or trail mix every 1-2 hours between meals.

@tarabonno: Thanks for the welcome! I used a different online EDD calculator and it said my EDD is June 4. So I will probably lurk here and post occassionally, but primarily be on the June thread. I like to "read ahead" and see what to expect in the next few weeks based on what you all are dealing with. Are you in Cincinnati? I am near Louisville, KY and my RE is in Cincy.
cherry / 228 posts
YES!! I am in Cincinnati. I went to UK and my husband's family still lives in Lexington, so we're in KY quite a bit. We have some college friends in Louisville.
Who is your RE up here? I'll post my email address to your wall if it makes more sense to continue the conversation that way!

@mamacate: I'm 7w3d. I was pretty sick last time around, so I alternate between being super excited that I feel OK, to being super nervous that I feel OK.
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@Keds: I felt pretty good last time too so I am trying not to worry. My appt is still over. 2 weeks away so not much to do about it. I hope your feeling good is a positive thing--you must be so excited for your appt next week!
cherry / 228 posts
@keds YES!!! I was just going to post about that! If I go more than an hour without eating I am suddenly totally starving??
@mae We are kind of in the same boat. DH is applying to nursing school. If he gets in to start in August, we'll need full-time care. If he gets in to start in January or the next August, he'll likely stay home with the baby for a little while. Either way - the $50 seems like a good investment to have options!

I have the worst headache and the worst nausea......bleh. I neeeed to eat but that is the last thing I feel like doing! Hopefully all a good sign at the very least?

So my MIL came to pick the kids up and take them to school this morning. At that time, I was trying to dress DS but had to run to the bathroom to barf, and I guess DH said something to her like I wasn't feeling well. I came out after a few minutes, and MIL asked me if I felt better. I said, "not really," and she goes "When does it usually subside, mid-morning, afternoon?" I looked at her and asked if DH had told her I'm pregnant. She grinned and nodded.
Mannn.... I had wanted to do an announcement with the whole family. Now DH's whole family knows (he told his dad a week ago and word spread), and my family knows nothing. And DH is Mr. "Not until 12 weeks". I just think telling people secretly instead of doing an announcement indicates that it's a dirty secret and the pregnancy was an accident. I asked DH what his dad said, and he said he asked if it was planned. Greeaaattt.
Now I need to tell my family (mom and dad separate because they're divorced), and I really wanted to wait until after my ultrasound but it's not quite fair that MIL knows and my own mom doesn't.
papaya / 10343 posts
@whodat: ugh that sucks that he told his family without telling you!! Also wtf with people asking that! Both my parents and my MIL assumed that this was not planned (they were right) and that was fine.. but my FIL came out and asked if it was planned. Like... first of all you kind of know the answer to that already or you wouldn't be asking. Second of all, rude! And who cares?! Bottom line is I'm pregnant and we're happy so who cares how I got that way?

Well ladies. Today's lesson is brought to you by the letter H. H for HOLY HUNGRY!
I was running from one appointment to the next and happened to skip lunch. (I had a heavy breakfast though at 10:30 a.m.). By 3 p.m. I was in the middle of a presentation and I have never been so hungry in my life! How can something the size of a blueberry make you so ravenous! I was starving. I went out to see if there was anywhere I could buy something. Upstairs there was a cafe that was closed. There was someone cleaning up. I BEGGED him to sell me the three dollar pretzels. (for a teeeeeeennnnyyy, tinyyyyyyy bag of pretzels), and at first he refused. And then my Hypo-gly-bitchy side came out. I was like - look, I am pregnant and I am starving. I need to eat. You have food. I have exact change. I want these pretzels NOW. He caved!
I chomped on those pretzels in 30 seconds. I was still hungry, but at least I could finish my meeting.
Needless to say, today I am stocked up with all sorts of goodies in my bag/car/office desk for next time.

@Coopersmama: LOL about pulling the preg card for the pretzels, LOVE it!!!
We just got into a new house (a new build) and it hasn't been a great builder experience, so many times I feel like playing the card so he doesn't mess with me, but I think I will guilt him with it in a few months time when all this bs is done with. We haven't been in a month and had one bathroom ripped out twice, the other wasn't done, they did it incorrectly and now it's being ripped out and replaced too.....we went 10 days without a shower in the house (had to bath....bleh!) So will be glad when it's all past us.
DH rubbed my belly this am when I was getting dressed, said "any baby tummy yet" I laughed and was like have you not looked at me in the evening hours? lol.

I know that it's way too early to have any kind of baby bump (7w3d), but I swear that I am starting to look different and DH sees it too! I'm pretty small, so it's not too surprising, I guess? It's more bloated than anything, but I feel like it's pretty noticeable?? Can anyone else relate?
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@whodat: I am so sorry that DH spilled the beans! You must be so frustrated! I hope you can find a nice way to tell your family and that your appt is coming up soon!
papaya / 10343 posts
@tarabonno: I haven't noticed anything yet but I'm already overweight (so bloat is not noticeable) and I've also lost some weight since my BFP since food is not always my friend right now. My boobs are getting huge though. It's weird. lol.
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@Coopersmama: you made me laugh! Glad you will be prepared with snacks next time!
@tarabonno: I felt like I looked different early on last time but no one else noticed anything for a while. Everyone else is not examining us as closely as we are!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@tarabonno: Um, yes I have this same problem. I gained about 5 pounds with IVF anyway, but I'm SUPER bloated too at 7 weeks. When my doctor told me we were having twins, I asked if that's why I was chubby already and he said no, that was not from the babies... Haha, oh well. It was a good try. I actually caved and bought some work maternity pants at Target tonight and I cannot wait to wear them!!!
pomegranate / 3595 posts
P.s. I am wearing a maxi today and totally felt like I looked pregnant, but am trying to ignore that...
Is anyone else having nosebleeds? I forgot about them until they started on and off earlier in the week. Not full on gushing, just little specks here and there.
papaya / 10343 posts
No nosebleeds here but I feel like I"m having respiratory issues. Although I'm not positive it is pregnancy rather than allergies (I'm taking my allergy meds but maybe they're worse right now?). I feel like my lungs are somewhat congested or something and I keep yawning to get a deep breath. Could also be because I'm so freaking tired. lol
kiwi / 619 posts
@MamaCate: I had nosebleeds all the time with my first pregnancy. Nothing yet this time around, but I'm sure they will start soon!

How is everyone feeling this weekend?
I still feel pretty good overall but we went for a hike this morning and now I am sooo tired! I know I can't really complain bit it is an adjustment...

@Momma_Nessie: welcome!
Like @Momma_Nessie my nausea is constant and quite debilitating. We missed a party last night and a meeting today because I feel so so ill. The only time I feel good is when I'm asleep.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Momma_Nessie: Congrats and welcome!!!
@whodat: I don't know how I missed your post about DH spilling the beans, sorry to hear! What did he say when you got a chance to speak about it without MIL there?!
@MamaCate: I've been having a pretty symptomless go, I am worried, but trying to just chill out, Wednesday will come quick (I hope)
My SIL has been in labour all day and it's been a great, exciting distraction, we are anxious for another update!
apricot / 365 posts
@Beebug: He recognized that he was wrong and apologized, but I was still upset and emotional about it. He said he told his dad in confidence and didn't think he'd share it. Yeah right! Anyway we told my mom and brother together over breakfast this morning and that was nice. Waiting until 8 weeks went out the window...
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@whodat: lol on thoughts that his Dad would keep it zipped, but still too bad it spread after MIL knew!!
I have a new nephew! No niece (they were team green and I was the only one betting girl!!!) so now I have two nephew's! Half the country away though, so won't meet him til Christmas
We still haven't told anyone, we will see how Wednesday's u/s goes and look at some dates to start telling people. If all is good we will probably do something on/around LO's 1st birthday the end of October to tell parents/siblings/grandparents, and then tell everyone else around Christmas.
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@Beebug: congrats on your new nephew! I hope your appt next week goes well.
I just got back from target and I found a super cute maxi tank maternity dress for $10.50! There were several other dresses and shirts in clearance too...
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@MamaCate: Nice score from target!
I hope you ladies had good weekends!
I got out my maternity clothes, and my work clothes today and organized my closet. I can't believe I am going back to work this week. I haven't worked (officially) since July 20, 2012! It was fun looking at my maternity clothes, some were such staples and I over wore. I laughed at this one sweater I bought from Walmart I think, it's giant (and briiiight blue), but I got to a point where I wanted something that fit that wasn't at all tight and was super cozy, it's hideous and glorious all at the same time (and it doesn't leave the house!!)
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@Beebug: when is your first day?? So jealous of Canadian mat leave!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@MamaCate: I'm back Thursday! I had been told to go back on a Weds or a Thurs, not a Monday so it didn't seem like such a long first week back! I am unofficially going back Tuesday to start a course my boss is paying for though, DD will be in daycare Tue to Fri all day! She and I are going to the zoo tomorrow, into the city to visit DH at work and I am buying some more diapers (we cloth diaper) to beef up our stash for daycare and #2!
I know I have been very lucky to have such a great amount of time off compared to US Momma's. I still don't think any amount of time any of us get (unless SAHM!) would ever feel like enough time with our little ones! I am ready to go back to work, but it's totally bittersweet, too!
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@Beebug: oh wow! I hope you have a great day with LO tomorrow and that the transition to daycare goes well! Even though I am jealous, I really admire SAHMs and all that you have done for your LO on over this time!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: good luck back at work! I found it tough at the beginning, but now I really appreciate that my DD isn't solely entertained by me all day long and is learning to play with other, etc And congrats on your new nephew!
I had a dentist appointment this morning...nothing like getting your teeth cleaned and feeling like you are going to hurl all over the place!!!

Hey all! I hope you all had a great weekend! We were out of town this weekend visiting my bff and it was so much fun! I was really worried I'd feel sick all weekend but we had lots of downtime so it was fine actually. Still looking forward to hitting the 2nd tri and not feeling baseline nauseous/gross all.the.time.

Hi ladies! We had our first doctor appointment yesterday and it was amazing! All good news - measuring 8 weeks, 1 day today (which is exactly what I thought) and due date of May 13 is confirmed.
We got to hear the heartbeat!! A steady 164 beats per minute, and everything looked perfect. There is a nice "white donut thing" around the baby that she said is a great sign.
And... only one baby! We didn't have any reason to suspect more than one, but it was still nice to get it all confirmed.
We go back in two weeks for one more visit (and ultrasound!) with the RE, and then transfer to our normal doctor. It's weird that we get this "special" treatment at the RE since we didn't actually end up using them to get pregnant at all, but I won't complain because it means we get to see our little bug more often.
Here's a picture! I'll be honest - I think it looks mostly like a teensy tiny alien and I can't really see much, but oh my goodness... there's a real baby in there!!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@tarabonno: Yay, congrats on the great visit and ultrasound! Baby looks beautiful! And yay for an extra ultrasound with the RE before transferring! We should be released from the RE after our appointment on Monday as well.
cherry / 228 posts
@twodoghouse I thought we'd be done after this visit, but I'll take an extra peek at the baby!
papaya / 10343 posts
@tarabonno: yay!! So happy to hear everything went perfectly for you, and only a bit jealous that you get to see your alien again in 2 weeks and we have to wait until week 20 (ughhhhhh so far away) to see ours again haha.
