    Anyone having new symptoms this week? I feel like my back has been sort of sore and I've also been having some mild cramping. I'm sure it is fine because my doc did mention that I could expect mild cramping as the uterus keeps expanding and that unless it was severe or accompanied by bleeding not to worry. But still. Do not like. Looking forward to my appt on Thurs and getting to hear the LO's heartbeat again to reassure me that all is well!

    @Mae: I am super hungry at all times (big change for me over the last week since before that I never wanted to eat) and I'm really thirsty a lot too. For some reason I'm getting paranoid about gestational diabetes. Diabetes runs in my family, so I guess I'm a bit more at risk, but I think all the carbs and sugar I ate during the first trimester have me more paranoid...and when the excessive thirst hit I got even more worried! Anyways, I'm sure I'm totally being crazy!

    @Mae: I have had cramping on and off the whole time and my doctor said its ok as long as there is no bleeding and if it is stong for more than 45 minutes straight to call her. otherwise she said to empty my bladder, relax and drink a ton of water when I get crampy.
    I don't want to jinx myself but I have not had to urge to throw up all day today! please please please I hope I can say the same thing tomorrow.

    @cookie_dough: haha I think we all find something to worry about! I probably should be worried about GD bc I was overweight coming into pregnancy. But I guess since there is nothing I can really do about that right now I haven't given it much thought. I hope carb eating doesn't super increase my risks though! I keep a pretty tight watch on not eating much refined sugar but carbs have been my bff4life this pregnancy. I ate like 2/3 of a bag of pretzels in the last 3 days.

    papaya / 10343 posts

    @mrsog: makes sense! Mine is really mild. Like I probably wouldn't even notice if I wasn't just sitting here quietly working. Also YAY for not wanting to throw up! I hope you've turned a corner!!

    @Mae: I get really sharp pains when I sneeze sometimes. I think it's just round ligament pain. I have to brace myself every single time I sneeze. And I don't know if this is a typical pregnancy symptom or not but I sneeze SO much. It was the same last pregnancy so I don't think it's allergies or a cold.
    @cookie_dough: You could also be thirsty because it's winter and the heating systems make the air a lot drier? Doesn't necessarily mean GD!

    I've been so preoccupied with our housing situation that I completely forgot that I was due to find out about the genetic screening. I had my second trimester blood draw last week so they just called with the results. Everything looks good. 1/6500 chance of Down's Syndrome. Good odds even if they're not as good as the 1/10,000 I had with DS. I credit the change to the fact that I'm over 30 this time. At least we get one piece of good news this week! It's been such a tough time for us recently - we have to move out of our condo in less than 2 weeks and we don't know where we're going. We had to walk away from the house we were trying to buy because of some major structural issues and then the apartment we were planning to go to as a back up had a shooting the night before we were to sign the lease. Makes me so much more thankful for the good news I just got!

    @skipra: so glad to hear about your good genetic screening news! Also I'm sorry to hear about your living situation. I hope that this is a catalyst for finding a really good living situation! Sounds stressful though

    Also I guess I glazed right over the drinking a lot thing. I am definitely drinking a LOT. I assumed it is just a pregnancy thing? All my friends said they were extra thirsty when pregnant too. I used to average about 4 tall glasses of water per day. Now I average about 6.

    @Beebug: I envy you! I'm now up 7.5 lbs since my first appointment at 8 weeks. I long for a "skinny day"

    @Glitter: Yay, so excited for you!

    @Beebug: Way to go on the skinny day! There is no hiding it for me anymore, but some days it's definitely more obvious than others!

    @Mae: Oh my gosh, I've been drinking a TON. I feel like half my work day is spent walking across the building to the bathroom then across the building to the water dispenser then back to the bathroom!

    @skipra: oh I'm sure I'm 100% crazy and that it's totally not GD -related hahaha. The winter/heating explanation makes way more sense

    @Glitter: yayyyyy! Congrats!!!

    @Glitter: I am not sure how much I am up now, was just 1.5lbs from appt #1 to #2 6w apart. Did I mention I gained 56lbs with my first pregnancy? This time is sooooo different, lol.

    @twodoghouse: I have no idea how the colleague figured I was looking smaller, but will so so take it, my days of hiding it are numbered!!

    I didn't tell you ladies, we have two boys names on our list!!! James, Colin! Colin goes realllllly well with our last name we think, so it's our tentative #1 pick!! Catherine is I think our top girls name, but we mentioned Emily, Lauren, too! Apparently we like C names, lol. I think if we stick with it all kids will have to be C names? DD has a C name.

    @Glitter CONGRATS lady!! Can't believe you know you're having a little guy. So fun!!

    Not too many new symptoms here. My back hurts a bit, but I think it's because I've been feeling less tired and doing more - so I'm probably pushing it a little bit!

    @beebug I can't believe you had such a skinny day. I want a pic of your outfit so I can recreate it! I can't decide if I want to accentuate my little bump or play it down and try to look skinny.

    @skipra Congrats on the good test results. Fingers crossed your life calms down a little bit for you soon!

    @tarabonno: pics attached!!

    The shirt is a mat shirt, I had a cardi on over it all day at work, but once home I was hottt vacuuming so off that came! The pants are still my skinny pants that are very forgiving so I will hopefully be able to squeeze into them a while yet!

    I feel like this pregnancy is soooo different from #1 there's no way this one can't be a boy, I know they say all pregnancies are different, but this no symptom insanity is just unreal.

    I feel like I am missing someone, but read back and couldn't figure it out, do we have two boys so far for the babies of May 2014? I feel like there is one more of us that knows gender already? Eeee so exciting!!

    @Beebug: I think sweetkeight? Someone had genetic testing and found out, and I THINK it was her.

  25. Beebug

    Yes! Her and glitter are who I am thinking of, both boys..... was there anyone else?

    @Mae: It will be s crazy that foe those of us who want to know, will know in the next 6w or so! Then we'll all be tucked away for 20 more weeks or so with our team green'ers, team pink or blue, craaaazy! Where is the time going!

  28. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

    @Beebug: I find out in less than 2! So crazy that it is almost here. I don't think there is even a word in existence that can describe my level of excitedness about this! haha.

    @Beebug: I am so jealous that you still have skinny days!

    My bump is only noticeable in yoga pants so far. Maternity jeans just aren't really fitting yet so I'm dealing with my ever tightening regular jeans still. Can't tell I'm pregnant in them...I just look fat!
    Here's my 16 week belly photo from this morning.

    @Glitter: Congratulations!

    So we got our testing results back. The nt scan came back with a high risk of downs but the results from the fetal blood test were negative. Although it's not 100% accurate since it does have such a high level of accuracy my dr feels good about it. So I guess we do too.

    With this test we were supposed to find out the gender but for some reason the paperwork was not filled out correctly and so we didn't find out. The nurse is seeing if there is way to find out now but we are pissed!

  31. twodoghouse

    @Beebug: @skipra: You both look awesome! I wish I looked as good as you two BEFORE I got pregnant, let alone now at 15 weeks!

    @Mae: What day is your appointment again? I can't wait for you to find out! I am still sort of in limbo about when we will know. I'm hoping for Dec. 3 when we see the perinatologist for the first time!

  32. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

    @sungirl: Sounds like you are in the clear then! That sucks about the gender though!

    @skipra: I'm going to have the "just fat" issue today too. I have to wear a suit and it doesn't really display the bump in a flattering way. I feel like I just look like an overstuffed sausage. lol

  33. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

    @twodoghouse: lol agree. I am size 18 so I sort of always look 4 mo pregnant as my standard size Also I have a doc appt tomorrow (but not scan) and then the anatomy scan Dec 2!! I have this nagging thought in the back of my brain though that my doc may do an U/S tomorrow. I have no real reason to think that except I maybe sort of hope she does and maybe can see the gender now? haha. The only reason I think she might is because I haven't had one since 8 weeks and I'm still down 8 lbs and I've been having (mild) cramping this week. Even though it is mild so I'm sure it is nothing I guess I soooort of hope my doc is like "well lets do an u/s just to make sure things are on track."

  34. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

    @twodoghouse: @Mae: Thanks!

    @sungirl: Glad your blood test was negative! Even when the scan comes back "high risk", it is still a risk that would normally be considered low and most of the time everything is fine anyway. I think they consider anything higher than 1/250 chance high risk? That's only .4%! When is your anatomy scan? They can probably double check how things look then to set your mind at ease.

    I went and had my IPS #2 bloodwork done today. Bah, it really hurt! I am not usually sensitive to that stuff, but my elbow-pit is super sore, hope it doesn't last.

    I looked into (lol not really, just curious) what elective/private clinic cost would be to have bloodwork done to determine gender (which would have been doable around 10w, now private clinic u/s would be less costly) and it is $994! Holy moly!
