@Glitter: I don't remember exactly when we started using the CD's. DS was too small when he was born so he was probably around 2 months when we started using them. I think we did laundry a little more often then and just supplemented with disposables. I definitely wouldn't use CD's until all the meconium is gone. That stuff is so nasty!
@sungirl: How exciting that you won't have to wait for the gender! How far along will you be at that point? I was surprised that they could tell yesterday as I'm only about 16.5 weeks. I thought it had to be at least 18 weeks to tell.
persimmon / 1281 posts
@skipra: how long does the meconium last? why is it nasty? does it smell extremely bad?
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Glitter: It is like smelly nasty sticky tar and it's impossible to get off the baby's butt never mind anything else! Luckily I think it only lasts a few days. DS's was gone by the second day home I think.

@Glitter: We started at 3w! I actually got super intimidated to start and could have sooner, but almost bailed before even starting! I said to DH I would commit to two days once LO hit 3w, then the other 5 days a week would switch and try again for 3 days the next week. After the first try, I never looked back, funny I got myself all psyched out!

@skipra: I will be almost 17 weeks. They will schedule the early at 16 weeks.
@Glitter: I'm totally feeling girl because my pregnancy has been do different but that's my only reasoning.

I have a dental appointment at 3:45. Semi-emergency. I have something wrong in the top molar, headache radiating across forehead, pain in ear, neck, becoming intolerable from this damn tooth. I was hoping to wait til Christmas to see BIL (who is a dentist, across the country, lol) but I am not going to be able to wait. Also trying a new dentist, not happy with current one, so half my issue was that procrastination too, we will see how things go, ugh. It's either a gap that's opened to nerve, or I don't know what, it hurts, whatever it is.

@sungirl: yay for a free scan!!
Also I'm another one here thinking about cloth diapering! Pretty set on it, actually. Although I haven't figured out exactly what kind I want yet. I'm a little disappointed bc our daycare does not allow cloth diapers so for 8 hrs/day 3 days/week our kid will be in disposables, but other than that cloth all the way baby
As for nurseries-- one of the biggest reasons I am pumped about finding out the sex of the baby! If it is a boy I am already decided on super heroes theme. If it were just up to me I'd do avengers because they are my fav, but my husband loves batman so I'm contemplating either just adding him into the mix, or just doing dueling favorite super heroes (batman for dh and iron man for me). Could be sort of cute to do a super hero rivalry room!
For a girl I have no ideas! Regardless though, we are going to convert my current home office which already has grey walls and a striped accent wall. I think it will be a great base for whatever theme we do. Here's a pic of it currently:
apricot / 309 posts
@Mae: cute office! It will make a super cute nursery too.
I'm excited to find out the sex for nursery planning too. Are the other mama's that will have two under two planning on keeping the first in a crib? I'd like to if my DS doesn't start climbing out.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: loveeeee the office space! What a great start to convert to a nursery!
@sungirl: definitely letting DD keep all her furniture including her crib. Hers is convertible, and I hope to buy the next convertible as well, that way the other furniture aside from rocker and change table can stay with them beyond baby years!
I don't even know when toddlers transition away from cribs, I know we aren't anywhere near that so DD not keeping her crib hasn't even been a thought!

@Mrs Hazelnut: @Mamasig: Welcome! Good to see other late May mamas to be. My due date is 5/21.
@Mamasig: I will also have 2 under 2 as a working mom. I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks after my son's first birthday!

@Mamasig: @Mrs Hazelnut: Welcome and congrats!!! Hope you both have very healthy happy pregnancies!
@Mae: Really cute office! That will make a great nursery
@sungirl: We're going to wait on buying a crib for the new baby to see if we really need a second. I have a feeling DS is going to be climbing out of his crib by the time we're ready to move the new baby out of our room. Even though we have a convertible crib I think I'd rather get a normal bed for DS to move into and give the new baby his crib rather than have 2 cribs.

@Mrs Hazelnut: @Mamasig: It's always great to have new May moms join in! welcome
@sungirl: we aren't going to get a second crib, so we are going to transition DD to a single bed before the new baby gets here. I'm really nervous about it...she does so well in her crib. But I reallyyyy don't want to buy a second one.
kiwi / 619 posts
Here are a few pics of our current nursery...and head shot of DD I expect that it will look exactly the same for the second baby...not planning on changing anything.

@Mae: I LOVE love love the colour of your office and the striped wall. That will make an amazing nursery. I'm kind of drooling over here.

@Mae: @cookie_dough: both of these rooms look gorgeous! I would so love working in a cute office like @Mae's. @cookie_dough: the swinging monkeys made me chuckle. Very cute!

@Mrs Hazelnut: @Mamasig: Welcome to both of you! So glad to have you here : )
@Mae: That will look AMAZING. Pinterest-worthy ; )
@cookie_dough: Very cute! Love the shower curtain!
apricot / 309 posts
@cookie_dough: cute nursery! Ours is definitely not gender neutral so we will have to change it if it's a girl.
Thanks all for your plans on whether or not to get a 2nd crib.DS's is convertible so I'm leaning toward a 2nd crib and dresser and keeping his furniture the same. But DH would rather move him to a bed and let the baby have his furniture.

@Mrs Hazelnut: Welcome!
@Mamasig: Welcome! I am also going to become part of the 2 under 2 working Ma craziness, however am Canadian, so have a year mat leave......so a little "cheating".
I have been adding to my secret Pinterest board like crazy lately, can't wait to actually work on some ideas for nursery, but probably definitely won't get to it until into the new year!

Hi everyone! I'm a new member/late joiner. I hope I can still play!
EDD if you have one: May 18
When Did You Find Out?: 8 dpo (I was feeling really strange when we got back from our honeymoon...)
Child Number: #1!
Where You Live: Seattle metro
What kind of provider will you see?: OB/GYN for now
When's Your First Appointment?: My 16 week appointment is next Thursday, and I'm hopeful that we schedule the anatomy scan ultrasound then!
What kind of birth do you want?: I honestly haven't gotten that far yet.
What You're Most Excited For: I am excited (and anxious) about every single aspect of this journey!
What You're Most Scared About: Our baby was a honeymoon surprise, and I am still adjusting into married life. I am hoping that my husband and I can keep communication strong and stay on the same page now and once the baby is born.
Symptoms so far: For me, it's been the headaches. They have become migraines, and I saw a neurologist last week. They're pretty wild.
Share a picture of your bfp, announcement, &/or chart: Hopefully I will have an announcement by next week... we are slackers and haven't gotten around to it yet! It's on the agenda for the holiday weekend for sure.

@gingerblonde: Welcome!
Three new faces! I hope this encourages any other May Mama's lurking to say hello, too!
I have my 16w appt tomorrow! Need to hear that hb for some reassurance, and this will be my last appt with my regular family doc, next one I switch to baby family doc!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@gingerblonde: DS wasn't a honeymoon surprise, but we had him about 2 weeks before our 1st anniversary. It was a tough adjustment, but seeing your husband as a father is so wonderful to see!

@Glitter: cute!
Anyone else excited to eat on Thanksgiving? I am looking forward to pigging out and not feeling as bad about it. Plus we are doing a 5k in the morning so that helps too even though I will just be walking.

@sungirl: I'm jealous of all the pigging out you guys get to do today...we had our thanksgiving in October
Happy thanksgiving everyone!

@cookie_dough: @sungirl: thanks!
No thanksgiving celebrations on my part of the globe BUT, DH's family is a serious food-loving family so for the first time we are having thanksgiving dinner at his aunt's house this year! Mmmm can't wait to indulge

@Glitter: Nice bump shot!!!
@Mae: Yay new list! The only thing I am always reminded of is "oh yah, I haven't hear from _____ on here in a while" Hopefully everyone is doing okay that isn't as active on here!!
Had an all-staff meeting (our greater office is 50 or so) this am. Of course I walk in late, and am like trying to sneak my jacket off sucking in, hahaha. That'll teach me.
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: We sure got a lot of snow. And we don't have our winter tires on yet, so it was a fun drive into work! It will be DD's first time playing in the snow today at daycare...I wonder how she will like it!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@cookie_dough: DH doesn't have his snows on either, said the drive was brutal and he takes the 407 in to the city, I couldn't imagine 401. We got a couple inches, enough to make it annoying! Got to get them on his rig. My commute is like 2km so I don't have snows!
Dog loveeeed it, DD was funny and not really interested in touching it, but her usual happy self!
