@gingerblonde: Congrats and welcome! My sister had a honeymoon baby. So exciting!

@Mae: Thanks for the new list! Wow how am I 17 weeks already???

    @Glitter: You look great!

@cookie_dough: @Beebug: Be safe in the snow! I think we are getting the same storm but it's all rain for now.

@Beebug: @Mrs Hazelnut: @Mae: @Glitter: @cookie_dough: Thanks so much for the welcome and the add to the list!

@Mamasig: It's definitely already an adjustment... I haven't even changed my name yet! But he is SO excited and I know he's going to be an amazing father. It is really special to see that, so even though it has been an overwhelming few months for us, it's had it's upside too.

@skipra: Thanks!! How old is her LO now? How did that go for her?? I won't lie, the shock is still wearing off just a tad!

I thought I'd share our "current" nursery for DS. It's now in boxes since we're moving this weekend but I took these before I really packed much. Only big thing changed is we used to have a normal size rug.

@gingerblonde: They were little overwhelmed but totally fine. I think no matter when you have a baby that is the case! He is now 10 and they've had two more since then.

@sungirl: I'm pumped for Thanksgiving! Although lucky for me I don't like most of the worst-for-you sides (stuffing, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole) so I don't really pig out that much. Except on pie. BRING ON the pie Also I'm pumped for it to BE HERE so I can be done getting ready for it. We've been cleaning like mad ppl all morning, I still have errands to run the pie and casseroles to make!

@skipra: lol did you not realize it until you saw it here? I feel like I count down every week!

Appt was good, anatomy scan scheduled for Dec 19th, so that will be a busy day!

I got a prescription for my sinus infection, I weigh half a pound LESS (wtf!) then last appt, heard the heartbeat. Heartbeat was like instant when he put the thing on me, that was realllllly cool as I needed the reassurance. About 150bpm or so. Ummmm I think that is it, took DD with me and she was a doll, eating her cheese and crackers chilin in her stroller the whole time. Doc said my ute was up where it should be growth wise, I know that was a topic here recently, lol.

@Beebug: so glad you had a good appointment!! Have you started feeling movement again? I still haven't...and I have to wait until December 10 until my next appointment! argh!

  12. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@cookie_dough: Yes on movement again, figures right? Wednesday night I had my hand on my belly for a solid half hour of movement! It was so good I almost asked DH to feel too, but figured I would lose the feeling, so opted to wait, ha!

So my university roommate went facebook public today, and told me last night she is preggo! She is due June 13! We haven't talked a ton lately so it was great to reconnect last night and hard not to tell her that we are preggo, too! Soon....just other people I want to tell first still!

And the biggest "news" in our house last night was DH wanting to Team Green-it. He might actually have pleaded such a good case that I might be totally on board. He just said that LO#1 we found out because she was our first and we were excited, and that the specialness of #2 can be not finding out. He said really early days sleepers/onesies are all he or she would wear, they aren't in their nursery right away anyways so I can have time to jazz it up once she/he is here and that it could be fun to wait. Going to mull that over a bit! That came from me asking him that if we found out on the 19th girl or boy could he/we keep it a secret until the 25th and reveal to parents then and he said why don't we not find out? So it just kinda went from there.

    TGIF!

@Beebug: good to hear your appointment went well and your DD was such a good sport!

We have no Team Green-ers on this board so far, I think. If we had enough patience I would love being Team Green! But we don't, lol.

  14. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@Glitter: we are team green! I think there were a few others? But maybe I'm wrong!!!

@Beebug: Go team green! yayyyyyyyyy! You can do it that's awesome that you've been feeling movement again. Although it's making me more nervous that I'm not! hahaha. Perhaps I will make an effort to lie on the couch for a while this evening and see if I can feel anything.

  15. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@Glitter: Realistically I don't either, but if DH is the lead on it, I am okay rolling with it. I think it will really just drive me nuts when I am on here, and when people ask, lol. Day to day I will probably be ok? I am trying to convince myself that anyways!

@cookie_dough: Laying on my back couch time is really the only time I get it, hope you do too....maybe with a few sips of a cold drink? lol.

I feel flutters often at work. I sit at my desk for a minimum of 8 hours per day. The office is so quiet you can hear a pin drop, and the only things moving are my fingers. I sometimes feel it at night too when we're lying down and it is still.

@Beebug: well my response would be simple. "we've narrowed it down to two options! Boy or Girl!" *smile and walk away*

We are team green too! It is our first so DH and I figure we can find out for the next baby and prepare the older sibling for what's coming. I hope I can stay strong during my anatomy scan in January!

  19. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@Mrs Hazelnut: I am really thinking we'll do it. Man it's going to be so tough at times!! I guess this is one of those things in life that is such a unique thing that you can't go back and change so maybe not finding out will be a cool adventure!

  20. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@Beebug: It totally is fun! It drives people nuts as well...which is kind of fun if you enjoy driving people nuts hahaha. For the most part my family was really on board with us being TG. My dad didnt' want us to tell him what it was even if we did find out...he wanted to be surprised whether we knew or not!

  21. Mrs Hazelnut

    olive / 53 posts

@beebug: I think it will be ok once I get past my anatomy scan at 20 weeks because my doctor will not do another ultrasound until 36 weeks. Once I'm at 36 weeks I figure it'll be easy to wait another few.

@cookie_dough: it's totally driving people nuts and they can't understand why we want it to be a surprise! That's cute that your dad wanted it to be a surprise. I bet it would be hard to not say he or she or have gender specific items!

  22. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Beebug: @cookie_dough: @Mrs Hazelnut: Yay for team green! I loved being team green last time! I kind of wish we had done it again this time but the ultrasound tech at the hospital kind of let it slip and we didn't even mention anything about finding out! Make sure you let them know at your appointment that you absolutely do not want to know, before they even take out the wand thing.

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! Is it ok if I vent for a minute? I know I've mentioned before that things are not great with the IL's but I'm totally pissed now. First of all they never even asked us what we were doing for Thanksgiving, they just decided to go to SIL's and we weren't invited. I was kind of upset that they had no interest in spending a holiday with their only grandchild but whatever. I tried to just ignore it but I guess that was just them starting to show how little they care.... When I had to go to the ER last weekend, DH called and asked if MIL could come out to watch DS (we haven't seen her since DS's bday in early September so it's not like we ask a lot of her). She said that she could go later in the day because she was having out of town company. Then she called and said never mind, she wasn't going to come but she'd come the next morning to help me while DH was at work (never showed up, never called me at all). My parents are out of town so they were not able to help out or they would've been there immediately - even if it was DH that was sick, not me. On Thanksgiving MIL called and said she would come out today to help with DS so we could finish packing and moving some stuff. Nope...never even called! I'm so totally pissed! DH doesn't want to talk about it but is clearly upset. WTH is wrong with my in-laws??? When all the crap went down with SIL, MIL clearly chose sides when she should never have even gotten involved. I can't imagine my parents ever treating me or my sisters with such indifference even if we were arguing. It really sucks

@Beebug: omg can't believe that you're going team green!

    @skipra: LOVE it!

So here's the part where I admit that after two days of feasting, my Thanksgiving belly makes me look 6 months pregnant! If only it were all baby...

Just catching up after a few days away... I love this board!

We are team green too! I can't believe there are so many baby boys on this board. Someone has to get a girl soon!

@Skipra That is SO frustrating. Sending hugs your way.

My movement has been off and on lately, but at our 16 week appointment the doctor said that was pretty normal. She found the heartbeat with no problem and it was strong and fast as usual, so I'm trying to be zen!

Hope everyone in the US had a nice Thanksgiving!!

  26. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@skipra: So brutal that your MIL is acting like that. I have nothing useful to offer as I don't speak with mine and perpetually bitter with her, lol. I also don't get how parents can treat their children differently.

@Mae: It's crazy, but I really think we are going to do it!

@HayleyJane: I would loveeeeee another turkey dins, I don't know why we don't just do another Thanksgiving dinner around the US one to prevent the envy, lol.

@tarabonno: Also interested to see when a girl will be announced!

Went to a 1st bday party today in our old neighbourhood. It was a lot of fun! Ended up telling my two girlfriends/old neighbours we are preggo! The Bday babies Mom had fam there too including her sister who is due May 13th with her third! So there was lots of baby excitement and she and I chatted he differences in each pregnancy!

DD napping, DH away. He and I ended up outside for 3 hours last night until 11:30 or so getting our Christmas lights up, so glad it's done! DH is afraid of heights and we thought he would be alright as we have a bungalow now, but he was doing the clips and lights one-handed and it was going to take us years. He eventually caved and let me get up there to actually make progress, lol.

I've been stupid busy for a little while, just trying to catch up!

@skipra: How absolutely infuriating and confusing! I can't imagine why she makes plans to see you and DS and then doesn't show up or call. What grandparent isn't giddy to see their grandkids? Not exactly the sort of thing they just skip. Could something is going on with them that you don't know about?

All - as funny as it was that I was obsessing over my "fundal height," our midwife agreed at our appt on Monday that I was measuring about a month ahead, not typical for a first-timer. I was hoping for some happy reason (DH was convinced it was twins), and terrified of a massive tumor or complication... So we had an urgent U/S on Wednesday and (thank goodness!) everything looked fine. ONE active baby, growing about a week ahead of expected, but no tumor or fibroid or anything terrible. We might be changing my due date by a few days to May 11, but won't decide for sure until my next midwife appt on 12/23. (so @Mae: no need to change my EDD on the list yet). And our sonographer respected our request not to announce the sex. Still team green! (@Beebug: @Mrs Hazelnut: @tarabonno: )

Not that I haven't mentioned a thousand times before but umm…. I find out TOMORROW!! I am so freaking excited! I sort of can't believe it is here already. The last few weeks have really flown by, especially the last week! Having my parents in town since Wednesday has really kept us busy so I wasn't even thinking much about Monday. But today when my mom and I were baking she was asking a lot about it and kept suggesting names for a boy or a girl and it just really sank in that I find out TOMORROW if I'm having a son or a daughter. Seems so surreal. I may not sleep tonight haha. 2pm cannot come fast enough! I wish I had an am appt!!!

@Mae: excited for you!! Bet you're counting down the hours and minutes. Drink something sweet before you go so baby can get a sugar rush and move those limbs out of the way lol! I heard that helps.

@Mae: have fun today! For me, this was the most exciting part of pregnancy. My tech waited until the end of the ultrasound (which took about an hour) to find out the sex. So that was even more anticipation!

I think I'm even more excited with this 2nd pregnancy to find out!

hope everyone had a nice weekend! I spent most of it at my SIL's house they just moved in to. DH and BIL painted and me and SIL (who is 38 weeks preggo) cleaned and decorated. She is very opinionated though so while she is at the end of her pregnancy and I'm in the middle, she thinks shes an expert and keeps telling me what to do. I totally ignore her - we are different people and shes a bit on the dramatic side where I am more laid back so I take everything she says with a grain of salt. other than that we get along great so it was nice to spend time with her.

@Mae: good luck today!! can't wait to hear what your having

  34. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@mrsog: that sounds annoying! I feel very lucky that all my friends who have babies have given me advice while not being annoying about it. But I guess friends are prob more likely to share my (generally laid-back) view of things vs. family who you don't exactly choose! hah

@Mae: Getting closer!!! Did you get any sleep last night? lol.

We have 25 of our Christmas cards going in the mail today, so let the fun begin!! It will be crazy for people to know!! We told my bff and her DH over brekkie yesterday, she noticed on the card right away! Told my Grandparents too, I love telling people now that we're there/in a more comfortable telling time for us!

I don't know if it's preg related or not but the last couple days I have felt this insane rush to get our house finished! Bare walls, nothing decorated, just living there (and it's totally fine!) and now I am like pinning my life away with paint colours, decor ideas, finish basement ideas......I'm going to have to keep dreaming, but it would be good to start tackling a little bit pre-#2!

@whodat: haha I'll keep fingers crossed for you! I weighed myself this morning and was happy I didn't gain anything over the holiday, but I have an advantage in that I don't really like Thanksgiving food that much. I DO love pie/cookies/etc but I worked really hard to not eat many sweets this weekend!

@Mamasig: Oh my god just the most important game of the year!! I was convinced attending home games while pregnant last time was going to put me in premature labor, but nothing bad happened and my son who was in utero at the time is the hugest 1 year old Saints fan I know.
