@cheesetomywhine: Welcome and congrats!
@Mae: We are tentatively telling people that we're keeping names a secret, but I'm awful at secrets. I'm sure we'll end up spilling the beans to our parents at least! And once my mom knows, her entire side of the family will know too... I didn't consider the idea that someone else may want to use the same names. My husband has three cousins due in early spring. I know one of them (having a boy) will go with a traditional Muslim name so I think our boy name is safe there, but I don't have any idea about the others!
@Beebug: Love your name lists! Graham and Collin were on our very short boy list as well. We decided on Blake instead, though. I can't believe you're still holding out telling people! One of my co-workers last year brought in a box of cookies and left them in the kitchen with a note that said "So and so isn't get fat - she's just pregnant" and word spread really fast! She didn't have to do the whole awkward, "So, I have some news..." thing, although she had people stopping by her office all day to ask questions. Good luck with whatever you decide!

@twodoghouse: omg I am loving the cookies in the kitchen idea!
Our big boss starts every meeting with "if you haven't heard a rumour by 9am, start one" and that would be SO fun.

@cheesetomywhine: Welcome! I also have that annoying sciatic pain. Its worse than last pregnancy and I'm thinking maybe from picking up DS all the time.
@twodoghouse: I love that idea. I almost wish I was working so I could use it
Love all the name ideas! If we were having a girl the middle name would've been Helen because it's a family name on both sides. We wont tell anyone the name we choose unless it does happen to be the name that we'he been calling him. It's a family name on my side and very uncommon. Middle name is either my maiden name or George or Edward also family names on my side. With DS I only chose the middle name so this time I get final say on first and middle!

Thanks for the welcome! I am also loving the name talk. I find it hard to tag multiple people from my phone so sorry! I love Ava Claire...is that a double first or first and middle? Colin is fabulous
so is Katherine, so classic.
We don't fully decide ahead of time but I openly share my ideas despite negative reactions The tough part for us is that we want the names to be seven letters since all of ours (first, middle and last) are all seven. And have a family name incorporated. Tough! Our girl choices thus far are Beatrix and Harriet. Potentially Phillips nn Pippa but we are not totally feeling it. Standstill for boys. Hubby wants him to be a 3rd but I'd rather not. Our only other maybe thus far we haven't shared, except with my mum, since I am almost positive no one will like it.

@cheesetomywhine: Aw I loooove Beatrix! I actually had that on an earlier version of my list but in the end I think I prefer something just a tad more common. I love all the potential nicknames though! Bea, Tris, Trixie! And Ava Claire would be first/middle. Really ought not to get attached to it though before I like-- mention it to my husband heh.

@Mae: Aw thanks! Whenever someone asks and I mention Beatrix we get blank stares and an ohhhh lol. I love Bea (said to rhyme with Leah) and DH loves Trixy/Trixie. LOL to sharing the name with DH! Hopefully he loves it too. Thanks for adding me!

@sungirl: can't wait to hear the results of your anatomy scan today!!
Also I just realized next week is going to be huge for us! 6 anatomy scans! Although I think we'll only find out 3 genders because we have 2 who already found out and 1 team green!

Well ladies it's another boy for May! I'm excited and think it will be fun (although a little wild) to have 2 boys close in age. I bought some blue balloons to wrap in a box for my step DD (10) and my DS to open tonight. My inlaws will be here too. I plan to take a pic of the two of them with the balloons for a FB announcement.

@sungirl: Ahhhh so exciting!!!!! What a cute way to tell S-DD, and DS!!!
@Mae: Hurray new list, and holy moly on anatomy scans for next week! Will be nice to have updates Mon, Tues, Thur & Fri!!
I am really excited my DH will get to come! He hasn't been with me for any u/s's yet.
I told a colleague today! Go me! Some stuff happened at work this am and I was having a cryfest with my one boss and colleague came to get us as we had a meeting (thankfully a small one so I didn't need to get my cry eyes away, ha!) and so after she asked what was up, so I vented and after it was all done did and "and this isn't how I wanted to tell you, but on top of all that I am pregnant too"
Her response? "I figured"
LOL. Love it.
No more crying allowed from me today, gah, I am such a cry baby.

@sungirl: congrats!! And that sounds so fun!
Man, girls are getting trounced in May though! 7 boys and only 3 girls! lol
@Beebug: aw, sorry you're having a rough day. yay for telling someone else though! 1 step closer to being fully public
apricot / 388 posts
@sungirl: yay for your boy! congrats!
@Beebug: you are so funny with slowly telling people. maybe its just bc its my first but I couldn't tell people fast enough! (but no fb annoucement). I also had a bad morning. I guess its my once a week sick day - I didn't keep breakfast down and felt really weak. Almost called in sick but instead manned up and just came in a little late.
@cheesetomywhine: The Beatrix I know goes by Betty - there are so many cute nicknames!
So the lady in the cafeteria of my building asked me yesterday if I was expecting - that was the first time I have been called out so I guess I am really showing now!!
papaya / 10343 posts
@mrsog: That is so exciting to have ppl officially noticing now!! I feel like I still look just a bit chubbier than usual in most of my outfits Although I've made an effort to wear stuff a bit more fitted and rest hands on belly when standing so perhaps the thought of "pregnant not just fat?" will rise in ppl's minds haha.
I never thought I'd get to almost-half-way-done and still not be sporting a huge bump!

@sungirl: Congrats on the boy! I have a big girl (will be 8 when the baby is born) and soon to be two close in age brothers too.

@sungirl: congrats on another little boy!!!
Just got back from my appointment...heard the heartbeat. sooooo relieved!!! I booked my anatomy scan for January 6...at which point I will be over 21 weeks. Oops! but they had no availability before then...hopefully it doesn't matter too much!
papaya / 10343 posts
@cookie_dough: yay! congrats on the good appointment and getting a date for your anatomy scan!!!
So… confession/question time….
Anyone else poke the baby? lol I just really like feeling movement and it doesn't happen that often unprovoked. But a lot of times if I sort of poke/jiggle my belly a bit she'll do a flip. I feel sort of badly annoying her…. but I can't help myself haha
pear / 1586 posts
@cookie_dough: yay for hearing the HB! So amazing. 21 weeks should be just fine
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: Your most recent post reminded me I didn't post about the best movement moment so far that happened last night!
I have been feeling baby from the inside, and always place my hand in that area hoping to feel a "bop" from the outside! Nothing really until last night and it was huuuuuge! It was just once, of course I got DH to put his hand on after as he would have for sure felt it, but nothing. It was so freaking cool. Like a little hello from the babes!! Can't wait til DH feels this one for the first time! Can't to lay with bare belly and watch my belly move! So dang cool.
@cookie_dough: Yay heartbeat! And yay anatomy scan date!!! Super exciting to look forward too!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: awww, that sounds awesome! I can't wait to start feeling some real movement.
Ugh, I just got SUPER crampy all of a sudden. Hopefully there's just some stretching going on in there. I'm getting a bit nervous, I"m approaching the same stage of my pregnancy last time where DD did SOMETHING to me...assuming kicked a rib out of place or something of that nature...I spent 3 days in total agony and unable to breathe. I was also in the Middle East for work at the time and had to endure a longggggggggggg flight home of not being able to move or breathe. It resolved itself on its own before I had a chance to see the doctor! so strange. Hopefully it doesn't happen this time!
kiwi / 619 posts
And I realize that the above sounds silly since I doubt our tiny babies would be strong enough to kick a rib out of place more likely that the stretching caused something to move into a weird position!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@cookie_dough: That is so crazy!!! Hope it doesn't happen again, oh that flight would have been terrible!
It is crazy what size they already are (my update thing said 15cm crown to rump for 18w!) and what they are up to! Eeeep!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: I know! Mine's the size of a turnip this week (17 weeks). I thought the weekly update that told me that my baby was starting to pee that week was pretty funny...haha, I didn't really want to know that a baby was spending its day peeing in my belly
papaya / 10343 posts
@cookie_dough: eek hope that doesn't happen again!
@Beebug: I know! for so long the baby seemed so tiny but now she seems like a real person! Mine is mango-sized this week
pomegranate / 3917 posts
I just scored a barely used/brand new (used twice says ad!) pnp! I am already thinking ahead to being at the cottage next summer.....we are going to need two playpens!!
Also, for anyone who is gold, I posted a pic of DD in the "post a funny pic of your kid here" thread. I always want to post pics of her here, but don't want to over share, lol. Her face is foolish, she does this hissy thing, and this is the face that results, added with some bedhead and pj's having breakfast.
apricot / 388 posts
@Beebug: I can't believe you can feel the kicking from the outside already - that is so awesome! I do think I have felt some kicks inside this week so I'm getting pretty excited and I'm not gonna lie and say I dont sit on the couch with my hand on my stomach waiting to feel a strong one! hah
pomegranate / 3917 posts
Look at my bump pics, one from this am, top, and the 2nd from right now. Look how legit it is! It is even like pulling at my shirt a little! Grow baby, grow!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
I made a crockpot chicken din today, and tonight I made myself rice. The chicken seemed so gross to me, I'm usually not picky, and DH (said he) liked it, but he could have just been trying to play nice, lol. I had chicken aversions all the time with DD, and so this was a bit of a flashback!
TMI Q, anyone have bad gas?! I am usually pretty modest, and don't like even typing this, but eugh.....I am gross, lol. Last couple days it has been so bad!
papaya / 10343 posts
I've noticed an increase in that area first thing in the morning unfortunately.. but luckily not all day.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Beebug: Wow I cant believe you felt movement on the outside already! DS woke me up at 4 am and as I was trying to get back to sleep I had my hand on my belly and felt a kick for the first time too! I cant wait to see DH this weekend so hopefully he can feel it too. And about the gas...yeah it can get bad. Yuck
19 weeks today. One more and he'll be halfway cooked. No clue how big he is but at the hospital scan 2.5 weeks ago he was measuring 6 ounces. Maybe he's up to a half pound by now?
papaya / 10343 posts
@skipra: haha i said that exact thing yesterday. My MIL sent us some stuff in the mail for the baby, and when I texted to thank her she said there was more coming. I told her she was spoiling this kid already and she wasn't even halfway cooked
Also yay for a kick! Gah I'm so anxious for a real kick. I did wake up in the middle of the night last night and she was moving around a lot. But just rocking and rolling… no karate moves yet.
apricot / 388 posts
@Beebug: lol yes on the gas and bad on some days. we aren't exactly shy about it in my house but thats usually more DH till recently.
after feeling pretty crappy all day yesterday I wanted to prove to myself that I can enjoy the second tri and I bought last minute tickets to a hockey game for DH and I (cheap bc of the weather!). My back hurt sitting in the seat the whole time but I felt raelly good while there. I think I psych myself out of doing so much for fear of not feeling good when really I need to make myself get out more now while I can! feeling good today though and feeling kicks!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@skipra: Yay on 19w today, and aweeesome about that kick. It is so crazy how we are all nearing halfway already!!
@mrsog: lol on not exactly shy! DH and I would each be mortified if we let one rip in front of the other. So yah....that makes it hard, hahaha.
@whodat: Ohhh yah? Because of the bump? I am totally guessing boy, too!!!
Guess what ladies? I am OUT at work!!!!!!
Did it this am, and the reactions have been so fabulous and fun, I hid in my one bosses office as everyone found out and listening to the people running around and talking was too funny.
I think this means we're out!!!! Eeee!!!
