Last night when I posted I totally forgot to include that twins run rampant in my family. My 4 year old nephews are twins and I also have twin uncles and twin second cousins. DH also has twin cousins. Aaahhhh the 24th needs to come as quickly as possible!

@Beebug: wow u lost almost all your gained weight! Did you work out or does most of it just fall off after pregnancy?

@sweetkeight: I have my first ultrasound today. I might get to find out how many LO's are coming my way.

@sweetkeight: That's so great about your u/s and that you're farther than you thought!! So glad everything looked great!

@Apex: Good luck today!! Can't wait to see how many!

We are finally back from our trip and I've never been so happy to see my own home. I slept great last night for the first time in days it felt like and I just feel better at home.

So funny how different everyone's symptoms are! For those of you on your second+ pregnancy, how do your symptoms compare at this stage? With my daughter, I had mild MS and was mostly exhausted. I would only feel sick when I skipped a meal, then would get a huge meal and scarf it down and feel even more sick. With my son, I was actively puking daily, and having horrible gas pains -- and eating everything in sight. Now I just feel blah, like I get hungry at mealtimes but nothing really sounds good. I usually crave snacks and sweets, but at this point I can look at a brownie, and think "eh, no thanks." I wish I felt like this when I was trying to lose weight!

@whodat: Last pregnancy I was nauseated and puking a lot (at least once a day if not more) until I was well over 12 weeks...probably closer to 15? This time I have nothing. It's starting to freak me out. However, I remember the exact day I started to feel sick last pregnancy, and it was 23 DPO (haha thank you fertility friend for saving all of my old charts). I'm technically only 19 or 17 DPO now, so I know it's still early.

@whodat: ditto!! I've been turning down icecream and sweet treats - so unlike me! I just don't feel as... passionate about sweets as i usually do, plus I think nah, i'll probably just feel more nauseous...

@Apex: exciting stuff!!! Hope everything goes well today!

@sweetkeight: So glad to hear your u/s went well! I have the same worries as you bc I am so crampy so I love to hear everything is where it should be!

  9. mrsog

    apricot / 388 posts

@Glitter: I usually have a piece of chocolate everyday after lunch and ice cream/dessert after dinner every day. (I know so healthy) But I have had NONE in almost 3 weeks. It is so unheard of for me but I have no desire to eat sweets. Someone told me its usually the things you love the most that you end up hating during pregnancy and right now that is the truth!

  10. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

I"m totally the same way with sweets! The last few weeks I have wanted nothing to do with them! In the last few days I feel like I'm getting my sweet tooth back a little (as in, the idea of sweets doesn't gross me out now... although I still don't crave them).

Luckily my love of mexican food has not gone away at all. It's actually the one thing that still consistently sounds good to me!

  11. cookie_dough

@Mae: You just gave me a huge craving for Mexican food. mmmmmmmmm...

@Mae: I have had Chipotle or made tacos quite a few times already! yummmm and lots a pizza!

  13. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@mrsog: yes, chipotle! It just feels so fresh and settling to my stomach. Especially because ever since I got pregnant I can only eat about 1/2 of what I used to eat at a time. So one chipotle bowl now = 2 or 3 meals for me. Which is awesome.

  14. mrsog

    apricot / 388 posts

@Mae: haha I wish I didn't devour the whole thing in one sitting! Of course after I feel sick but its so good I can't stop lol

  15. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@Glitter: A bit of both? I found the weight came off fairly easily, but getting the size/shape I wanted and the last few lbs took some work! I walk a lot, and run, had a 10km run/race as my post-preg goal race in May that I trained for

Thinking about @2PeasinaPod: and @Apex: and your ultrasounds today!!!

@sweetkeight: U/S pics to share?! Between the three of you with u/s today and yesterday, let's get some pics of your little bean or fluff's if you want to share

  16. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@whodat: I don't find any differences yet, I try not to freak out because my mc I had the craziest symptoms ever (metal tongue constant, nausea, etc) and it was such an early loss, then when I was surprised with LO#1 pregnancy the next cycle the surprise factor came with no symptoms at all until 8w or so. Until then I don't really have anything to compare to, I wasn't even thinking about tight pants or symptoms at this point with her!

@Mae: @cookie_dough: @mrsog: Spicy food is all I want in the world right now! And it's only 10:04 am and I am convinced I'm starving to death. If I had chips and salsa at work, I'd probably be eating them right now, haha.

    @Apex: Yay for ultrasound day!

  18. skipra

@sweetkeight: Yay for a good ultrasound! I've never had one that early. What could you see? I did have my appointment yesterday. It was uneventful - just went over medical history and had 6 or 7 vials of blood drawn. My next appointment is 9/23 with the midwife.

@Beebug: I also feel like my belly is fatter but I don't think I've gained yet. I was petrified of gaining weight last time! I was hoping to max out around 145 but think I went up to 152. Those last couple pounds were tough to get rid of for me.

@whodat: My symptoms seem a little different than last time. Last time I threw up every morning when I brushed my teeth and some evenings but if I ate a good lunch I felt ok for the afternoon. This time I am nauseous all the time but I haven't thrown up yet and don't even gag from brushing my teeth. I dry heaved a couple times (changing poopy diapers yuck) but nothing came out. I keep breaking out now too and I don't think I had a single pimple my last pregnancy.

    @Apex: Good luck today!!!!

An update on my U/S. Not great news, but not horrible either.

I should be 6w, 5d today. She saw two areas where possible sacs could be. I have been bleeding the last few days, so she thinks the empty area is a blood pocket. She said the good thing was that it was on the opposite side of my uterus as the other pocket which she thinks she can see a fetal pole as well as a flicker of a heartbeat. The problem is that it's measuring just at 6 weeks, so I'm already a week behind.

She sent me for more blood work today to be sure my betas are going up. If they're going in the right direction, I have another U/S next Thursday. If they're stalling or going down, it's likely that I'm miscarrying.

So...more waiting. Got my blood work already, so they should have it back tomorrow morning. I'll know more then.

@Apex: Lots of luck on your U/S today!

@2PeasinaPod: praying that everything works out well and that you get favorable results from the blood work tomorrow! Until then, try to be patient and relax. Worrying is probably the worst thing for your body right now

@sweetkeight: Just my two cents because I think you or someone asked this before... I think it would be easier to have a May 2014 thread just for appointment dates. We can update on this appointments in this thread but keep the list elsewhere? I just feel like it might get out of control eventually?

ETA: Today was my first appointment for blood confirmation!

  28. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

Had blood work done today to confirm pregnancy (I hope! I still doubt this for some reason. I'm nuts). They should have the results tomorrow or Monday. I hope it's tomorrow or I'll go insane waiting all weekend! Had two nurses plus the doctor all ask: "Is this desired?" How awkward!

  29. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@LindsayInNY: Why is it awkward when they ask? The nurse asked me if my pregnancy was planned and I told her the truth (no) and she asked me how I was feeling about it (happy!), how my husband was feeling about it (excited!), and if I wanted a referral for any counseling (thanks but no thanks).

I thought it was sort of smart actually. We are actually super excited about our surprise baby, but I can see how if you weren't quite "there" yet with a surprise pregnancy having everyone assume it was planned might make you feel kind of bad about yourself. And counseling may be a good idea then!

  30. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Mae: I think just the word "desired" was awkward. I don't know. I didn't expect them to ask that! Never mind three times... But, seeing what you were asked, I guess that makes sense. I'm wondering if they have a lot of people who come in with "undesired" pregnancies?

  31. twodoghouse

    honeydew / 7230 posts

@LindsayInNY: Yay for bloodwork! I hope you hear back tomorrow. It will really start to feel real once they tell you your #s confirm you're pregnant! I think I'd feel weird too if people asked me if our pregnancy was desired, but I get @Mae:'s point too. We worked with an RE for IVF so we haven't gotten that question, but I wonder if we will once I move to a regular OBGYN.

  32. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@twodoghouse: I'm going to go insane if I have to wait until Monday. The plus side is that she did not see any blood/discharge/spotting inside! My doctor saw some last Wednesday at my annual exam and it continued until yesterday when it stopped. So that's a good sign! I'm just anxious for the phone call and what they'll say, not say, etc...

  33. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@LindsayInNY: At my appointment yesterday the nurse asked if the pregnancy was spontaneous. I thought that wording was weird too. She did not ask if it was desired even though I told her it was a bit unexpected.

  34. tarabonno

    cherry / 228 posts

@2peasinapod Prayers and hugs to you. Hoping for good news soon.

@Skipra Spontaneous? That is the weirdest way to describe a pregnancy. What does that even mean??

@beebug I like your attitude about pregnancy weight gain! I definitely don't want to gain more than I need to, but I also don't want to be worried about it the whole time. It's the only time in my life it's probably good for me!

  35. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

So I'm feeling all crampy tonight and I don't like it. No spotting and I know that cramping is normal, but since I haven't had any yet it still freaks me out since it is new. And especially since we were on our way back from vacation yesterday so it was a long day of carrying around my heavy bag and I ended up going through the full body scanner thing because the people made me feel so stupid for opting out on the way out of town (which now I"m regretting). I'm sure it's fine, but just-- ugh. Cranky crampy night.

  36. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Mae: from what I understand, as long as there's no bleeding or excruciating pain, u don't need to be alarmed by the cramps. So don't worry. Stress does more harm to the baby than scanners, I'm sure!

  37. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Glitter: I know. I'm trying to be rational. That just seems to be harder than usual lately....

  38. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@Mae: I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry! Are you still feeling crampy today?

I had to bring DD in to the doctor last night, and while I was there I asked her if my blood test results had come in. She said yes and that everything looked fine. But then she told me that they don't do a hormone test. I was dealing with a squirmy LO past her bedtime so I didn't bother to ask for any details...but I'm assuming that means they didn't check my HCG levels. I have no idea why they wouldn't check...so now I basically just have to ASSUME that everything is ok until we finally get to see the bean at the IPS testing around 12 weeks.

  39. tarabonno

    cherry / 228 posts

    @cookie_dough Ugh, that's frustrating.

@Mae I know it's so hard not to worry and overanalyze things. I think that when a woman finds out she's pregnant, she should get to go to bed for the whole first trimester. That way, she could get the rest she needs, not get in trouble for her insane bitchiness, and eat whatever, whenever she wanted!!

  40. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@cookie_dough: Thanks for asking! I've only been up about 1.5 hours but no-- I feel fine today. Also I had messaged a friend and she was like "your uterus has to grow-- what do you think that feels like?" and its such a good point. Like I knew, but putting it that way really helped ease my mind. And still no spotting so, I'm sure it is fine. Just really can't wait until my u/s next thursday to confirm everything looks good!

Also re: blood tests--- I don't think docs usually check the hormone levels unless you have had previous issues. I had 6 vials of blood taken and they didn't check mine either. They checked me for blood count, thyroid, STDs, immunities, and blood type. But nothing actually related to being pregnant.
