@cookie_dough: yes, odds are just one for me too DH is convinced our kids will all be star athletes, but we have to remind ourselves and be okay with it if they don't like sports! We were both pretty big athletes growing up, so I definitely hope, too! DH coaches university sport and so I guess we just have to wait and see! Crazy to think about the future and it will be so cool to watch what path our LO/future LOs will take!!!

A friend of mine told me that one of her friends is pregnant with twins...and she has a 15 month old. I almost fainted from thinking about that. I'm praying for one healthy baby and that's it!

@Beebug: omg so crazy! haha. My husband is kind of hoping for twins I think. He says it would be great because we'd have 2 with only the trouble of 1 pregnancy and then we could be done and just raise our family. I see his point. But man... that would be scary!

@LindsayInNY: Update on the brown stuff. I broke down and called my OB. She was super nice, and said it is probably implantation bleeding but ordered bloodwork anyway -- something about beta levels? I went in this afternoon to get a vial drawn, I'm supposed to go back Monday, and she will call me next Thurs with results. Which sounds like forever! But I am feeling good that I can hopefully put my fears to rest soon. Maybe they can do the same for you when you go in for your bloodwork.

@whodat: Ahh, good to know! It's still happening here but literally only in the morning/beginning of the day and then it stops. I didn't know implantation bleeding could happen this late? I'm have a blood test done on Thursday and I figured that would check beta levels anyways? I'll definitely have to ask!

@LindsayInNY: aaahhhh! How did I miss your BFP! Congrats!
Make sure they check your progesterone too since that can cause spotting!

    So happy for you!

@wheres_c: Just happened on Sunday!!! Ironically, my annual exam was last Wednesday and she gave me progesterone for future cycles. I'm going in Thursday for a blood test to confirm and going to mention the brown spotting. It's not a lot but still annoying.

So i've been lurking on this board for a bit now since i got my BFP, but hey, here i am now

EDD if you have one: May 11 according to online calculations

When Did You Find Out?: 4dpt5dt (approx 9 dpo)

    Child Number: First pregnancy

    Where You Live: Los Angeles

What kind of provider will you see?: Still staying with my RE for another 2 weeks before i get referred to an OBGYN. I still have to find one close to my job, so i can go back and forth easily.

When's Your First Appointment?: I already had 2 betas. My first beta on 16dpo(11dp5dt) was 1,850 and the second on 18dpo(13dp5dt) was about 5,500. My first ultrasound is coming up this thursday....so nerve wreaking.

What kind of birth do you want?: I don't really care, but the less pain for me, the better.

What You're Most Excited For: Finding out exactly how many i have cooking in there. and telling our folks.

What You're Most Scared About: The possibility of having more than 2 babies in there.

Symptoms so far: Exhaustion, unending thirst (i'm soooo thirsty all the time!!!) minor, dull cramps, no real appetite, and a whole lot of gas, lol, and headaches too

Any fun plans for the end of summer/fall?:Nothing really, but DH and i have a lot of fun trips planned, so we'll see where it goes.

Wow --- this thread is really picking up!! So exciting. Here's my catch up post:

@cookie_dough you are due on my birthday, and I'll tell you that it is the BEST birthday. I've loved it my entire life!!

@apex I'm so glad to see you here! I'm a lurker on the IVF board. I can't wait for the results of your ultrasound!!

@lindsayinny My family lives in White Plains. Guessing that's pretty close to you?

@glitter My cramps have mysteriously gone away too, and I'm relieved.

@2peasinapod Welcome! FX for a sticky baby!

So.... I have been alternating with symptoms. Some days I'm pretty tired; today I basically forgot I was pregnant for most of the day. So much so that I came home and POYAS (peed on yet another stick!). Everything is still fine, it just sort of feels like I'm pregnant and not pregnant all at the same time. Can anyone else relate? My boobs are sore, but not excruciating. FX that all of my symptoms stay as mild as they are now, but I know it's still early.

I think we're going to tell my in-laws this weekend. I am traveling for work next week with our COO and I'm afraid I'm going to get outed at some point, so just in case we want to tell family first. I also am DYING for someone to talk to about it besides DH. I had lunch today with a friend and she said, "Your boobs look huge. Are you pregnant??" I am also so sick of lying through my teeth to everyone!

I'm glad we're getting some more friends on the board. @skipra and @sweetkeight Hooray for appointments (and u/s!) tomorrow!! I'm jealous of you for being two weeks ahead of me!

Hey May Mammas! I'm a late joiner, too. Between being out of town for work and then going on vacation, I'm finally home and it's starting to sink in that we're KU.

EDD if you have one: May 4. I think a Cinco de Mayo babe would be fun. Who knows, I'll probably end up with a little Easter bunny.

When Did You Find Out?: 10 dpo

    Child Number: #1

    Where You Live: Texas

What kind of provider will you see?: The same OBGYN I've seen the past few years. I'd like to go with a midwife/birthing center but uncertain of options around me. I'm going to see how the first appt with my dr goes and decide how I feel about her level of care.

When's Your First Appointment?: Sept 16th, Less that a week! I'll be 7 weeks 1 day. On the phone the nurse said I'd have an ultrasound but I'm not sure what to expect! DH is going to come with me.

What kind of birth do you want?: I'm still trying to wrap my head around this. I feel like I need to do some more research to learn what's right for me. I've never done this before! However, since the pregnancy doesn't seem real yet I'm not quite ready to put a stake in the ground on how I want the delivery to go.

What You're Most Excited For: It's a tie: putting my chubby cheeks next to my baby's chubby cheeks & seeing DH hold him/her for the first time.

What You're Most Scared About: the M word.

Symptoms so far: This is a hard one. Most of the time, nothing. On vacation I very clearly started feeling queasy m/s-like when I was hungry. Since about 5.5 weeks this has happened about every-other day, but not constantly. It makes me worry that I don't have more definite symptoms, but it sounds like that is somewhat common. I have been SO bloated. I'm am pretty chubby normally, but on vacay I had to get maternity shorts at target for hiking because all my active wear was so tight. One of the weirdest things is what may be food aversion...but I can't tell. The idea of two foods: 1. eggs and 2. truffle oil gross me out so much that I gag in my mouth just imagining them. BUT, I can't stop thinking about them! It's like every now and then an image of fried eggs will pop in my mind and I get pukey. Maybe I'm just trying to check myself that yep, I'm really pregnant? I have to block the thought to keep my stomach from turning. It's the weirdest thing.

Any fun plans for the end of summer/fall?: Just got back from a week in Colorado. Have a wedding in Nor Cal in October.

Happy to be here with y'all!

Just popping in to say congrats to all the May mamas so far!

@LindsayInNY: Ok I hope this doesn't make me sound crazy and stalkerish, but when I realized just now that you have a May due date it made me remember your post on the Jenny Renny thread...didn't she say May for you?!?! I remember because it was May when she said it and I was so hoping May was your BFP month. But she also said it could be your due month right?!? How crazy!

  12. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@tarabonno: Yes! Such a small world! I work in White Plains and live just south of there

I keep asking DH if my boobs look bigger. They don't, LOL. He said I'll know when they do because he'll say something on his own I think the over-active nose is starting up. And I've been feeling a little hungrier in the morning - at least earlier than usual. Otherwise, everything is still normal here. I've been sick since Saturday which I attribute to my so I'm ready for it to go away now. And we're going out with two couples Saturday night for drinks. They both are from out of town but this is going to suck hiding the fact that I'm not drinking! We're hoping to get there early so I can order something from the bar instead?

@SweetiePie: OMG, yes! It was crazy Cheri22! Back in late April she said (free test) conceive in May, find out in May or due date in May. At the time a May due date seemed ages away. What are the odds though?!

@Apex: So glad to see you over here! I am almost more excited for your ultrasound than my own! I can't wait to hear your news on Thursday.

@tarabonno: I am SO glad to say that some days you barely feel pregnant. I am having a day like that. Usually my boobs are KILLING me in the morning, but today they were just a little sore. It freaked me out, but I think I just slept in a more comfortable position so I didn't squish them all night long? That's what I'm hoping. I'm afraid to pee on any more sticks, so I guess I'll just hope that my symptoms come back full force tomorrow. I've still got an icky taste in my mouth and I'm nauseous now that I'm at work, but the less painful boobs threw me for a loop. Oops, just read your update about getting emotional over packing your lunch. Even though crazy emotions suck, symptoms are symptoms, right?

    @MRSHONEYBEAR: Welcome and congrats!

@LindsayInNY: Good luck hiding the not drinking! I'm pretty sure most of our friends think I'm way more pregnant than I am because I haven't drank at all for the last couple months. At least they aren't calling me out on it... yet.

  20. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@twodoghouse: We were suppose to do brunch with one couple and that turned into evening drinks with two couples... Brunch I could've managed. Just ordered coffee and that's it. But evening drinks?! They suggested dinner too but we made an excuse. 1. Because that will be way too obvious and 2. They're big spenders and were not up for that. If we arrive early, I can order a drink separately. If not, I don't know what I'm going to do. I can't pull the beer trick and dump it in the bathroom. Maybe I can quietly order so no one can hear? I am sick so if I still sound sick, I might play that card and hope no one calls me out on it.

I think the queasiness is starting. I just had a bagel for breakfast and don't feel full but feel ehh.

  21. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@LindsayInNY: can you say that you haven't been feeling well and don't feel like drinking? Or say you are on antibiotics...haha that's my last case scenario answer if ever someone is pushing me to drink! I was out for drinks last weekend, and since I was driving I just said that after having DD, I'm such a lightweight even one drink is enough to make me not ok to drive!

  22. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@cookie_dough: That's what I was thinking of doing. It's still a semi-obvious excuse but oh well. At least you have a LO to blame it on!

  23. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

This is a stupid question but how do you calculate how far along you are? My LMP was August 6 but O was August 26 (CD 21). Using O, my EDD is May 19. But how far am I *now*?

  24. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@LindsayInNY: I had googled "how far along am I" and it gave me a nice chart. I'm due May 18 so I'm 4 weeks and 3 days (I guess that makes you 4 weeks and 2 days?) I think it only goes by LMP though, not O-date. When I saw my GP yesterday, she said that since my cycles were pretty regular, she would just keep my due date at May 18, regardless of what day I O'd on.

  25. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@cookie_dough: I've tried googling a million different things... LMP gives me an EDD of May 13 while O gives me an EDD of May 19. So 6 day difference. I think O is more accurate but most doctors measure from LMP.

  26. mrsog

    apricot / 388 posts

@LindsayInNY: I was charting with FF and I used my O date - the app calculated it for me. I didn't O till CD21 so using LMP I feel would have been way off. Add it to the list of questions to ask the doctor!

  27. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

    @Apex: @MRSHONEYBEAR: Welcome and congrats!!!

@mrsog: @LindsayInNY: Last pregnancy I o'd a week early. I was told that they go by LMP unless a dating ultrasound is off by a week or more. Mine was off by a week so they adjusted my due date. I think that is pretty standard practice.

I had my first appointment and it was pretty uneventful. I just met with a nurse and went over health history questions then had 6 or 7 vials of blood taken and gave a urine sample. On Monday night and yesterday morning I had the tiniest spot of pink when I wiped so they are testing my hcg level to see if it's where it should be. I haven't seen any more spotting so I'm hoping it was nothing but I'm glad they are concerned enough to test. This practice likes to have the blood tests done early so you can go over them at your first real appointment. I don't think I'll get an ultrasound until 12 weeks unless something is not right with the blood work.

OMG I have missed so much! I didn't get any HB email alerts So excited for all of the new May Mamas!

My appt is now Sept 19 instead of Sept 24-- I decided to switch to another doctor in the group. I had a great experience with her with LO #1, but my friend who delivered with her broke her pelvis and it's just been a big mess. So new OB, new first appt date!

I've been spotting (light brown) on and off the past week or so, as well-- my hubs asks me every morning if I'm "splotching" lol.

For my fellow 2-under-2 mamas, mine will be 22 months apart, too! I can't even begin to imagine how hectic everything will be... gahhhhhhhh.

No symptoms for me yet. By this time last pregnancy, I was having major food aversions, felt hungover/on the verge of barfing all day, and would just eat cereal (I lost 15 lbs during my first tri!). I'm still feeling normal and I'm eating everything in sight... I almost wish I was feeling blah so I wouldn't eat so much!

For mamas with M/S, try sea bands! Supposedly my girl Gwen is pregnant and she's been photographed wearing them recently (and during all of her pregnancies): http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/08/21/article-0-1B65AB83000005DC-76_634x1091.jpg

I also just bought a new water bottle so I can drink enough water each day: http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Nissan-Intak-Hydration-Bottle/dp/B001EGGQB6/ It has a little clicky number adjuster so you can keep track of how many bottles you drink each day. I was induced last time for low fluid levels, so I want to make sure I drink enough this time around!

@mrsog @cookie_dough @lindsayinny That makes sense to do LMP.... unless you're like me and you have 60 day cycles! Thankfully my doctor is already familiar with that info. It will not be good if I end up with a March baby!!

I was crankypants all day today... I feel like symptoms just come and go. I guess that's normal?

What would I do without you ladies to validate my crazy??

    Just catching up:

@skipra: How did your appointment go? Was it today?

@beebug: so glad your mirena thing is all resolved and that you're here - no matter what we call you! Teehee! Also, sad to hear you're experiencing the same "digestive issues" - hope that resolves soon for you!

@twodoghouse: right there with you on the starving - I canNOT stop the hunger! However, I also can't work out how to eat when I feel this freakin' sick all the time. Even when I crave something, the craving doesn't last long and I wind up just wishing I hadn't even thought of food…. sad.

@skipra: oh yes, the handicap stall and I are friends from even before the pregnancy - it's where I used to take my "pee test" breaks during ovulation times. I work in a building that used to be a 1910-built high school, so the handicap stall is oddly shaped and has some weird little 'ledges' in it that work really well as 'napping' ledges (after some 'sanitizing' of wrapping some paper towels around my cardigan to use as a pillow.) This was, of course, before I discovered that my office door had a lock on it. Huzzah.

@mae: Um, yeah with the hot sandwiches. That and doritos. And bacon bits. Yes, just bits of bacon. Can't get enough of them. Oh, and weirdly, raw cauliflower. The crunchier the food, the more I'm into it.

@keds: bless you bless you for the gin gins. Those are helping SO much!

@lindsayinny: Yes, obsessive POAS-er right here! I'm still testing now every once in awhile because I didn't get a solid line on an internet cheapie until at least 20 dpo… Plus, I just LOVE seeing two lines on a test. Can't say how much better it makes me feel on days when I'm super sick or tired or just plain worried. Also, my lines did not get darker for at least 8 days after my first BFP, so don't panic!

@beebug: I want twins, too! But I'm on my first…

@glitter: I seriously thought twins, too, just because of how huge I've felt for the past week or so. Plus, all the cramps - yikesy, so much pulling and pinching all over! I can see a difference in my clothes (not) fitting, but DH says he can't see a difference in how I look.

    @lindsayinny @cookie_dough @2peasinapod @apex @mrshoneybear: Welcome! So so delighted you're here

  37. sweetkeight

First ultrasound today and it went really well! I've had this irrational fear of an ectopic and a bunch of weird cramps, so it was such a huge relief to see a baby in my uterus. My ovulation date was Aug 9, but my LMP was July 23, so I wasn't sure if I was 6 weeks 5 days today, or 7 weeks. Apparently, I'm 7 weeks, based on measurement! Huzzah! So fun to re-align all my apps (both phone and web) to the new measurement and see the farther along photos. Doc said everything looks great and even though I was a leetle freaked out that there is only one baby in there when I'm so bloated, it felt so great to look at our cute little Teeny! I'll post a pic after I get it scanned.

This appt was a 'viability' appt with RE, now I have the tricksy task of deciding between a midwife or an OB. I have a lot of good recommendations on both counts - blergh, decisions decisions!

@sweetkeight: Thanks for the updated list! I had my first appointment earlier this week (just awaiting my blood test results). Next appointment with my GP will be October 11, and then I will be referred over to the OB. And those sound like great ultrasound results! Yay

@Glitter: I really feel like I'm already showing too (and I'm only 4 weeks, 4 days.) This is my second, so I know that you show earlier the second time around...but this is still TOO early in my opinion! I definitely don't think I'll be able to hide it for 12 weeks. Excited to find out if your hunch about twins is right!

I'm not showing, but I'm definitely fatter!

I pulled on a pair of go-to capri's and yah....there was no doing them up! Super bummed, thinking "already?" lol.

Buuuuuut I'm sort of excited for maternity clothes again, I splurged on mine and while I will be preggo in totally different times/sizes this time I am excited for that part of my closet! Until then I will have to squeeze into what works and tuck away stuff I don't fit into. I gained 56lbs with my first pregnancy and got back to my 5lbs above pre-preg #1 weight and same size, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes this time. I'm the crazy that has fun with the weight gain, and know it's for good reason, I wanted to hit 200lbs, but stopped at 196lbs at 38w, next time? Oye.
