@cheesetomywhine: thanks! Some days I feel so huge, that pic doesn't make me feel it!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: you look so good! I was not really feeling huge at all forever but just a few days ago I feel like all of a sudden I feel like I look super pregnant. I don't think I actually look different, I think its just in my head haha.
Also my LO is moving like 24/7 now. Nonstop moving and stretching and pushing. It's so weird haha. It's kind of cool and reassuring. But at the same time it just feels SO ODD. And makes me nervous about the next 8 weeks. she's so big already, how is another 8 weeks of baby going to fit in there?
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: awesome pic! Every time I see your bump pics it reminds me that I should take more of my own. I usually forget until I'm wearing my pyjama pants and an giant t-shirt of DH's...and there's no way I'm taking of a picture of myself looking that awful hahaha
@Mae: I'm feeling tons of movement too, a lot of weird movement the last few days, like he's been turning himself around or something! Probably deciding that breech is the way to go...like DD
papaya / 10343 posts
@cookie_dough: lol exactly! Not many real kicks. I just feel like she is just moving and stretching and poking stuff all the time. Her fav thing lately is wedging herself between my right hip bone and lungs. It feels SO WEIRD.

@Beebug: I'm loving (envying) your stripes and all the energy you have!
@Mae: sooooo many cute clothes! Girl clothes are so exciting! Did you get any great products also? I was trying to see from your pics but couldn't make anything out.
So it looks like I'm officially off work guys. Had another appointment yesterday and doc reassessed me and signed me off work until maternity leave officially begins. He's concerned about my constant pain because that could bring on early labour so he wants me where I am most comfortable and pain free. Comfortable would mean at home, pain free would mean at the hospital for about 5 days on intravenous meds. We came to a compromise of home, since I'm not in pain unless I move. Coupled with daily exercise since he doesn't want me getting clots, and kegels 5 times a day for 20 minutes! Those r fun. I was doing them last night while talking to MIL and FIL. DH found that hilarious!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Glitter: I'm sorry you've had to leave work, but I'm glad you're not having to go into the hospital! How did your job take the news? Hopefully resting at home will be enough to keep the pain at bay!
persimmon / 1281 posts
@twodoghouse: ehhh... work has been weird since this pregnancy began. Being the youngest female and the only married female, out of a small company of 14 (10 of which are women) and opting to start a family instead of scrambling up the corporate ladder, is not the popular choice in my work environment. My direct boss has made it clear that this pregnancy was not a wise choice, and I may/may not be paid for the duration of my leave - it's all up to the company's discretion. I'm not stressing, mine and baby's health comes before work... so, we'll see
papaya / 10343 posts
@Glitter: ugh, sorry that you're down for the count now! Although it is nice your doctor is concerned about your comfort and isn't trying to make you tough it out through constant pain! Also, that is 100 minutes of kegels/day. holy cow. haha
By products do you mean like the "baby gear" stuff? We already had a lot of stuff via hand me downs (a swing, a bouncer, a bumbo, 2 bathtubs, and a rock n play-- although we actually got a second rock n play at the shower bc someone went rogue lol). But we did get some! We got our car seat (graco 35) and a pack n play with the bassinet part (which I think is our current plan for sleep the first few months!), a high chair, crib mattress, changing pad and cover, and our video monitor! We also got some cloth diapers, which I was pumped about, and a ton of bath stuff and some bottles and older feeding stuff like little bowls and lidded cups and whatnot. Oh and that cute bottle lawn thing, love! A few bibs and one pack of burp cloths and one pack of swaddling wraps.
I was a little surprised we didn't get more swaddles (I registered for a bunch of a&a ones) or swaddle wrap things with the velcro (registered for some a&a ones of those too) or more burp cloths. We did get TONS of blankets though, oy we can keep this kid warm haha. 3 hand crocheted blankets, 1 homemade quilt, 2 homemade fleece tie blankets, at LEAST 5 of those super fuzzy baby blankets.
Oh also, since we're talking gifts, one thing I didn't expect but I thought was super nice was some ppl got stuff just for me. Like my mom got me two nursing nightgowns and a robe, and one of my BFFs did a bag full of stuff for the baby then a "mommy bag" for me with all sorts of luxurious bath products and eye mask and fuzzy socks and chocolate. I thought that was really sweet and thoughtful
persimmon / 1281 posts
@Mae: oh my, your friends and family really hooked you up!! That was sweet what you bff did too... ahh chocolate for those late night feedings will come in handy, that is if they're still around by then. What is the bottle lawn thing though? Never heard of it. And yes, i'm just kegeling away... he says it will help with natural birth so I have no probs with that!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Glitter: I know!! I got seriously spoiled. There were a lot of people there though too. I have a pretty big family with lots of aunts and cousins, and my husband's family was there too, in addition to a few friends. The bottle lawn is a drying rack thing. It's just cute, and also is supposed to be a little easier than normal drying racks because they support any size/shape bottle.
kiwi / 619 posts
@Glitter: Oh no so sorry to hear that you are stranded at home for the next while. But glad you were able to compromise and aren't stuck in the hospital.
@Mae: Wow! that's an amazing haul And you still have 2 showers left to go!
Question for you guys! My sister's baby shower is coming up in April (yikes, I really have to start on my decorations!) I bought her something off her registry (a high chair), but I was also thinking of putting together a "baby's medicine kit" for her. So including stuff like baby tylenol, baby vicks, snot sucker thing, boogie wipes, some natural teething stuff etc. Do you think you would appreciate a gift like that, or is it kind of boring (I won't be offended if you think it is!)? I know that I totally didnt' buy any of that stuff ahead of time, and I'm thinking it might be nice to have everything on hand for the first time baby gets sick? And I will of course throw in a cute outfit to finish off the gift...because who can resist shopping for tiny baby girl clothes?
papaya / 10343 posts
@cookie_dough: I know, we're really lucky! The next two showers won't be such big deal things though. The next one is just a small coed friend shower (like, at most 4-5 couples), and then the one at my husband's work is more congrats than gifts (generally everyone donates $5 and they give you a gift card). So I mean, both super nice/thoughtful-- but this was the big one! Also I think the medicine kit sounds great! It had never occurred to me that we'll need that stuff but that is a great point that it'd be nice to have on hand when you need it. I may have to pick some of that stuff up before LO arrives!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Mae: haha, glad you don't think it's a terrible idea. I will at least buy a fun container for the kit, to lessen the boring factor Must remember to add a thermometer to the list...always a good thing to have on hand!
papaya / 10343 posts
@cookie_dough: Honestly, I super appreciated every gift (of course) and the thought people put into the gifts, and the cute stuff was super duper cute…. but practical stuff was SO appreciated. Because everyone wants to buy you cute-factor stuff (especially for girls), but babies need practical stuff too! So I think she'll really appreciate your gift
persimmon / 1281 posts
@Mae: oh I've seen those! Didn't know it was called a lawn... But looking at it, of course it's a lawn.
@cookie_dough: I think that's a great gift idea too! I would definitely appreciate it especially having it put together in one set for me rather than me shopping for the little essentials here there and everywhere.

Good news! I have a bit of my voice back, after a week! Bad news, fever, aches, chills.....oh no. I have a baby doc appt Thursday, otherwise would be calling doc ASAP. Tylenol isn't even touching me anymore I worked two hours this am, the first few ppl that came to my office got me bawling, someone obviously went to my boss, she came over, and we had a great chat and she sent me home. 2 hrs sleep last night, ugh.....I just want sleeeeeep. All projects on hold (I am good at overdoing it, but will not do anything like this), bah, what a price to pay for making it thru last couple weeks. I lost it on DH this am too, so haven't heard from him all day, selfishly I want a DD update on how her day has been, but I just need to let it go. Chicken noodle soup, heat on, and couch time for me, bleh.

@junebugmama: I was on WB and posted lots of wedding pics so maybe from that?

@Beebug: Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that you are sick! And that you had a fight with DH, I'd want an update on DD as well. I am glad that you're going to rest, feel better soon!
@Glitter: Sorry to hear that you're on strict rest at home, but at least you are comfortable there. That seems mean of your boss to tell you that you made a bad choice, nice to know you are not letting the potential lack of pay bother you. You are right, you and baby are more important.
@Mae: That is a great haul! We have the boon rack as well and I use it now more so than when R was a baby lol. We didn't give her bottles but I use it to dry her cups, straws and utensils.
@cookie_dough: I like the medicine idea. My SIL did that for me and I was so appreciative, especially when R had her first cold. I like that you included baby vicks too. We picked that up ourselves and she loves to sniff it if we need to use it. Hope that doesn't come across as weird.
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: Oh no I hope that you had a better night last night and were able to get a bit of rest.
@cheesetomywhine: haha that's pretty funny that she likes to sniff the baby vicks I've heard that putting baby vicks on their feet and then socks on top is supposed to help them a lot, but I've never tried it! Maybe that's just when they are really young?

I had a scary moment last night. the bedroom is on the second floor but the bathroom is on the first in my IL's house so the many times a night I have to get up to go I need to go all the way downstairs.. well last night there was a sock on the stair and I slipped and fell. Luckily it was the bottom of the stairs and I just hit the ground. If it was higher up I would have tumbled all the way down. I am ok - I twisted my ankle and have a bruise on my knee and I'm kinda sore. I was so shaken up though - I was up all night waiting to feel the baby move, which he finally did. Things like that make me feel so vulnerable and scared that I could hurt my baby.
papaya / 10343 posts
@mrsog: aw, that sounds so scary!!! I'm sure your baby is fine, but did you call your doc? Mine told me to call if I had any falls, even if I thought I was okay. They might want to check you out just to be extra sure everything is okay, or they might have you watch for something specific?
apricot / 388 posts
@Mae: I actually have my 32 week appointment today so I was going to tell her about it then. Everything feels ok though - I'm more mentally shaken than physically. By the way I never responded to your shower post but it all looked so lovely! glad you got spoiled and your baby girl is starting off with an awesome wardrobe lol
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Beebug: I'm sorry you're sick! Hopefully you're feeling a little better today.
@mrsog: Yikes, sounds scary! I'm glad you're ok, but like @Mae: my doctor said to call if I ever fell, even if I'm feeling fine after. I'm sure everything's ok, but they probably just like to monitor and make sure!
papaya / 10343 posts
@mrsog: good timing on the appointment! I have my 32 week appointment today too. I'm a little nervous though because it isn't until 5:45 tonight and we're supposed to get freezing rain then snow and I hope the roads aren't too bad
papaya / 10343 posts
@twodoghouse: thanks! other than the weather I anticipate it being pretty uneventful. Baby has been moving well, and really the only new symptom is pelvic bone pain when I'm up too long, but I think thats super common at this point from what people here on HB say!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Glitter: sorry you are off work. But you and babes are #1, so hopefully this is for the best. I was off work as if about this time with #1.
@Mae: re: surprised you didn't get more swaddlers, your babe may not like being swaddled, with all the blankets you got too, may not need to get more. DD couldn't/wouldn't be swaddled. MIL/nurse of 35 years swaddled her in the craziest swaddles ever and she always found a way out, and then fell asleep, it was actually hilarious to watch. We ended up using blankets from armpits down, and of course she was that kid who wouldn't sleep on her back either, so we got docs okay to roll blankets to prop her on her side.
@mrsog: oye about stairs, hope all goes well at doc appt today.
Talked to DH last night again, and then him and DD this am, she was counting to 5 over the phone, ahhh so cool! I think I realized I am pissed with DH because I want him to tell his family about him/our issues (not new issues, something they have known about before) because I feel like I get stuck carrying the burden of it. He basically said to me, "so you want them to make me feel even worse, too, just for your own benefit?". I realized the answer is yes, but I still can't figure out if it is ok (or not) I feel this way. I think it doesn't help I actually am home alone, not sleeping and now post-event have time to think about it all too, whereas he and I hadn't really dealt with any of it because I was so consumed with work up to the night before they left. Ugh
Anyways! My mom came over today on her lunch, to walk dog for me, and is going to come make dins later. My fever hasn't broken, headache is awful (can constantly hear my heartbeat in my head). Bah on body ache, and I totally took a shower at 3am scorching hot to try to shake the chills. Baby is moving lots, so that is reassuring. She noted two months today to EDD!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: that's the worst when you're upset but you're sort of alone in your upset-ness. I've tried to explain this to my husband time and again that he thinks he is sometimes "letting me cool down" but I don't have a cool down mode. When left to my own devices the only direction I get is hotter because I sit and obsess about whatever it is I'm upset about, so really handling an issue ASAP is always the best philosophy with me. Hard to comment on the other issues (wanting them to know) since we don't know what the issue is--- but I'll go out on a limb and just say you're probably right
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: yes on obsessing over it. I sit in my head and let it eat me alive. I'm not brave enough to tell what it's about, it's very D word worthy, but I refuse to give up on him, maybe stupid on my behalf, but I said vows and am standing by them. The toll it has taken on us has been insane, but I love us too much when we're good, this has just been a long, awful stretch.
On the topic of poor me, and how "sick" I am. I had an hour of feeling great, and said screw it on relaxing and did this.......
pomegranate / 3917 posts
So yah, I'm definitely still sick, but felt well enough to zing thru this. I knew it would be quick, I needed to feel some sense of accomplishment as all my projects have totally gone out the window this week. Hope I don't pay for it later. I'm going to try staying up later tonight, to try to break the 1am waking.
I sort of wish I used the colour in the kitchen for the "brown" stripe, it's way more yellow than I had hoped (that colour is our entry/hall colour) but given I was re-using leftover paint, I did the best I could and I am pretty happy with it. I think I am going to leave the walls as-is though, and not do the other two walls. The window wall makes me hesitant to do it, just feel like there would be too much going on with the shelves I have planned for that wall.

PS this snow is insane! We are getting absolutely dumped on!
@cookie_dough: how are things weather wise your way?
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Beebug: Wow your nursery looks really great! So impressive that you've been able to do that while sick! Hope you start feeling better soon and that things improve at home. I know what you feel about needing other people to get involved. Right after DS was born, DH did something that I thought was really awful and he talked to his parents about it and they basically yelled at him.. Made it a little easier to get over and now he has been so much better about similar things.
@mrsog: Wow that is so scary. How did your appointment go today? How are you feeling now?
@Glitter: I hope resting at home will help with your pain. When work is unsupportive it's kind of hard to feel bad for leaving early. At least that's how I would feel.
@cookie_dough: I think a health kit sounds like a great idea. We didn't have anything beforehand and got instructions of what to buy at the hospital. I'd just check expiration dates to make sure they are far enough out. We seem to have the problem of buying medicine and it expires before we even use it.
@Mae: Sounds like you had a great shower. Love all the clothes. She's going to be a well dressed little lady!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: ugh, I'm sorry to hear about the issues going on with your DH no one needs that added stress. I definitely don't do well when I'm left alone and thinking about things when I'm upset with DH. I really hope that things improve for you guys. That's amazing that you DD was counting to five for you! The highest we have gotten is 3
as for the weather ...awful awful awful. The drive home from work was brutal and the wind and blowing snow are crazyyy! Oh, and your walls look amazing! Will you come and do mine please? I'm not too far away hahaha!
@Skipra : oh my...you just made me realize that I totally never look at the expiration dates on her tylenol, etc...I'm terrible! Definitely going to check now!!!
@mrsog: the fall must have been so scary! Hopefully all was well at your appointment today.

@Beebug: First things first-- your stripes look FABULOUS!! I can't wait to see your nursery all put together!
Re: the "thing", whatever it is-- I seriously doubt you're being stupid. Marriage vows are serious and you have kids together! I really think most marriages are worth saving regardless of what one person or the other does--- if both parties are committed to not doing whatever it was again and repairing whatever damage was done. And of course the most-given advice ever: Maybe a marriage counselor? But regardless. I hope you work through it! I can't imagine how stressful it would be to have serious relationship-y issues during pregnancy when you're already dealing with all kinds of other stuff, not the least of which is hormones which can make even small issues seem huge (so can't imagine what it does to big issues!)
So, just got back from my midwife appointment and it went well! I got to meet another of the midwives (there are 4, I've met 2 now). She got a little chuckle out of my switching so late but said it was fine, she was super nice and I really liked her. Also, quote of the night:
Midwife: Let me just see…. WOW baby is really sticking her head far forward here. Usually at 32 weeks I have to really feel around a bit but she is very clearly head down and sticking it forward really head-butting your bladder here…
Me: I am aware.

Appointment today went really good. She does a quick ultrasound at every visit but bc I was shaken up from the fall she did it a little longer and we actually got to see and watch his face. He was yawning and swallowing and had his foot up near his head. It was amazing. She said everything looks perfect.
@Mae: glad your appt went well too! I can't believe we are getting so close!!

@mrsog: I have fallen here a few times because there's so much ice and snow and even if it doesn't actually hurt, I cry every time because it's so scary to think that something might have happened! I'm so glad to hear the appointment went well and that babe is looking good!
@Beebug: at one point hubs and I had something "D" worthy. I also wanted him to tell his family and one night I flipped out and told, because I felt like they needed to know, in order to understand the other stuff that was going on in our lives. However, I'm so glad I stood by him. Our relationship is pretty amazing, and it's been years now. I hope the same thing happens for you
@Mae: hahaha to the "I am aware"

@Mrsog: @Mae: Glad your appointments went well!
So I'm not quite sure what this baby is doing, but either his head or his butt are periodically poking out at the top of my belly. I have a feeling it might be a head, because DD was doing the same while she was in there...I could literally feel her head through my belly. It's such a weird feeling and it's actually kind of making me nauseous today! If it is a head, then I guess all that weird movement I have been feeling over the last few days was him flipping around.
