@Beebug: aw that 's great! Must have been so exciting to be recognized for all of your efforts. I know you will miss your DH and DD, but I'm quite jealous that you have a few days to yourself! Hope that you get to relax and give your back a chance to recover.

@cookie_dough: I'm home today, and the quiet is so nice. Fun and I went for a great walk this am, we lazed on the couch and I sipped tea. I am planning my week for home projects, and getting excited!
DH just called, his family drama is so nuts, he is glad he is home/there. Said the stories are just insane, both his parents look awful and that they've aged so much since we were there at Christmas. He is going to talk to them about "our" stuff too, as we haven't been so hot lately. I hope when he and DD are back we can attempt a bit of a reset for us, too.

@Beebug: Aw, that's so nice about the recognition for your event! I'm glad that you're at home and enjoying the peace and quiet! Sorry that your husband's family is still dealing with the drama, though. It sounds exhausting to have been dealing with all of that the last few months.

Anyone else feel like their baby is gigantic in there? I feel like there's no way I have any more space for 10 more weeks of growth! He's so active and packed in there, that I can now start to identify body parts.
kiwi / 619 posts
@junebugmama: yes, definitely! I feel like he's HUGE. I'm just hoping he'll fit into at least SOME of the cute newborn clothes I bought
honeydew / 7230 posts
@junebugmama: Um, yes. After assuming that my twins would come early and be tiny, I've since decided that they are going to stay in forever and be mega-sized 14 lbs babies that don't fit into any of the tiny clothes (or expensive nb cloth diapers) I bought....
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Beebug: How nice to be recognized! I hope your DHs trip will help all around.
@junebugmama: Yes. I don't know how my body will handle 8-10 more weeks of baby growth.
Had another growth scan today and baby boy is measuring slightly ahead. He is now the size DS was at nearly 36 weeks. So when DS was born he was probably only a pound and a half bigger. I'm starting to get nervous about birthing a giant baby!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@junebugmama: I don't feel as huge as I did last time, but I was comparing pictures and I'm about the same size so baby boy must be getting big. He must be getting bigger too because his movement has changed. I used to feel kicks and flopping movements. Now it's more like he is pushing against my hand and belly or little rolling movements like he is adjusted his position. I am so curious to see how big he will be!
nectarine / 2019 posts
@skipra: this guy is measuring the exact same as Jax was at this stage, which is terrifying since Jax was 8.15 at 36 and 5. If I go full term this kid could be a 11lbs!!!
nectarine / 2019 posts
@Mamasig: That's exactly the same thing here. The movements are more pushes now, with parts sticking out rather than random kicks.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@skipra: I don't know about birthing a big baby since I had a c section, but I know I loved having a big baby. He was sturdy and filled out. So far measuring right on track. Last time, the doctor didn't mention me being ahead until about 34 weeks. We'll see this time.
I know these last weeks will be getting harder with all that growth! It's amazing how much our bodies can accommodate!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@junebugmama: Wow! I guess he knew it was time to get out. Do they think you will go early again? I think this baby is on track to be about 8 or 8.5 lbs at 40 weeks but my midwives don't induce until 42 weeks..and a potential 9lber is scary considering DS was under 6!
nectarine / 2019 posts
@skipra: I was induced the last time. Hoping that doesn't happen this time
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@twodoghouse: omg no way could you carry 28 lbs of baby. That would be insane!
@Mamasig: I don't know why but since DS is still so small I was kind of hoping for another baby on the small side. Ill feel bad for DS when his baby brother is bigger than him. Is that crazy?
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@skipra: not crazy - I'm the opposite. I hope the baby is big like his brother. I think it may get a little freaked out by a little baby. I just assume he'll look like his older brother, but who knows. He could be totally opposite!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@skipra: Haha, I know. Definitely not 28 lbs, but maybe 14 or 15 lbs of baby? I keep hearing of twins going all the way to 38 weeks and being big! Of course, that would be awesome because that means they would be nice and healthy, but it's also a little scary!

@Beebug: Glad you got through your event and you have some time off!
@junebugmama: Yesss! I don't really feel like I'M all that terribly huge, but I feel like she is. She's been so actively lately and so strong and I can feel her pressing up on my lungs and down on my pelvis at the same time, it's crazy!
So, I had my shower this weekend, which was awesome! I will have more updates on that later but I'm having a totally hellish day at work and I don't have time right now

I have been totally MIA from here for the last few weeks. I did a quick read through to catch up but there was so much!
We moved out of our NYC aptartment and in with my IL's till we close on our co-op. We have the interview with the board tomorrow so hopefully shortly after that we will have a closing date and a move in day! The whole process has been super stressful and on top of that I started my new job so I've been extra busy at work, the commute from IL's is longer so I'm getting up an hour earlier and thats of course on top of sleeping less/getting up to pee more lol. I am 32 weeks today and seriously don't know how there is anymore room for him to grow. I feel huge, I am uncomfotable and my legs are cramping and my back hurts. I hate complaining but it really is taking a toll on me. I am ready to be settled into my new home with my DH and DS and just be settled. So anyway, I hope to be around more to chat as my new job is settling in and I feel less crazy!
Oh we picked out room color and furniture this weekend.. this is an idea board of what it will look like... I can't wait till its actually all put together!

I dont know if the picture attached. if it did I'm sorry for doing it twice...
kiwi / 619 posts
@mrsog: Wow, that sounds hectic! Moving, new job, etc. all at once. Hopefully things do settle down now and your interview goes well! Love that furniture. I really really like the colour. And the robots are so cute
I've had a super busy day at work, and tomorrow should be crazy as well. Life isn't nearly as crazy as it has been for some of you lately, but we had a rough weekend with DD...she's getting three teeth at once, and refused to nap all weekend. She was up late on Saturday, and with the time change today, she was beyond exhausted this morning. Hopefully she had a good nap at daycare. Luckily she has still slept pretty well at night, so I can't complain too much! But I am exhausted today. I can't even form a proper sentence with my co-workers!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@twodoghouse: SO exhausting, and of course him going is good and bad, gets so much more for details, oye. The peace and quiet on this end is fabulous however!
@junebugmama: When I feel whatever limb pop under my ribs and I can move it out of there, that's when I have moments of "oh this baby is big in there" buuuut DD was 9lbs+, so I am pretty much expecting a good sized baby again, I think?
@mrsog: Hopefully things settle a bit for you soon, sounds so busy, love the nursery inspiration!!
@cookie_dough: Oye with the teeth, I have a feeling DD is getting them all at once in May. She still just has four!
Look what I did today ladies:
light colour is what DH did Friday, I did the dark stripes, and in 48 hours I can tape on them to do the third colour (it will be half the width of those two colours directly beneath the darker stripe!!). So it will be two 1ft each stripes of grey (the dark is from our livingroom), one 1/2 ft stripe of a beige'ish that was used in our front entry/halls, and then repeat all the way down. I only ended up doing it on 2 walls. I started with one, LOVED it, holy addicting, I wanted to stripe my whole house, but then just did the second wall and am going to live with it, and may just do those walls. I will of course be looking for thoughts/feedback once it's all done!! Crib will be on either that wall or the one on the left you see a bit of. I chose a lazy'ish pattern that kept wall base colour top and bottom so I didn't have to do any cutting in over DHs nice lines.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@Beebug: lovely!!! I'm not ambitious enough for stripes! Only 4 teeth? How old is your daughter? DS has all but his 2 year molars. He got his in bunches and mostly early.
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: Love it!! Can't wait to see it when it is one! Also impressed that you did horizontal stripes alone! When I did the stripes on my office (now nursery) wall the taping about drove me batty and I needed my husband to help keep everything level and straight.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mamasig: She will be 17m on the 20th! She got two in July (front bottom), two in January (front top). Slow teeth much? My jokes of all of them coming in May are not even funny, it could very well happen!
I am halfway paranoid about it because when my baby teeth fell out none of the adult teeth came in, I got all gummy at like 7/8 years old. I had 9 or 13 (can't remember, a lot, lol) extra teeth laying horizontally along my gums blocking the "real" teeth. So that's in the back of my mind, hope she never has to deal with what I did in my mouth!
PS. I made 5 practice walls on paper, to scale drawings of colours and line patterns earlier today, eff I was paranoid about the stripes, but I think it's going to be okay!!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: Oh my husband would go mental with a project like this, so my thing, the pencil lines, level stuff and then taping was so much fun! The painting was suuuper quick, I felt like I had to work in fast forward to get the paint on, even and tape off! Is it awful I think it was easier to do alone? lol.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Beebug: Holy cow - how do you have the energy to do things like this? I'm totally in awe of you right now. The walls look awesome!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Beebug: love the stripes! DS is 18 months and also a late teether. He only had two at (American) Thanksgiving and now he has 6, working on the 7th. They also haven't been coming in order. Try not to worry too much!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@skipra: Good to know!! So long as my doc isn't concerned, I'm not....just have my issues being passed on to her in the back of my mind!!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@mrsog: Love the nursery choices! Hope all the craziness settles for you soon!
@cookie_dough: I officially hate teething. DS just got three one right after the other and it looks like the next one is about to break through. I don't know if I will ever be able to sleep again if this keeps up.

So, finally have time to sit down and update! My shower was this weekend and it was awesome! So fun to see everyone and I felt very much like this was a "last rite of passage" sort of thing. Like you get engaged and get a bachelorette party and a wedding shower, then a baby shower for your first baby. So this was my last party! (family-wise anyways, I still have 2 more showers haha).
Also we got so. much. STUFF. It was all awesome but I'm honestly super overwhelmed by clothes. I don't know if she will even have enough time to wear them all, between all the gifts we got and all the hand-me-downs I'd already gotten!
And then last night when we got home DH and I spent a few hours getting everything unpacked and semi-put away and it was just SO exciting to start seeing stuff filling up the closet and shelves. Nevermind that everything still needs to be organized (we sort of just threw stuff wherever to get it off the floor). Plus we got our crib mattress and changing pad so all the furniture is pretty much done at this point. Oh! And DH was soooo cute going through all the stuff. He wasn't at the shower so it was the first time he'd seen it and hearing him all "oh my god this is soooooooooo cute" over all the clothes was super melting my heart
Also we couldn't resist testing out the new crib mattress and one of our carriers with some of the pets… hah. Get ready for picture overload!!

@Beebug: the stripes look great! I would love to paint stripes, jut i doubt I would have the patience for making sure they were straight, taping everything up, etc. So how does your DD do with meals given that she only has the four teeth? Does she have a hard time chewing certain things?
@Skipra: we have actually totally lucked out and teething has never been tooooo bad for us (or for her I guess!) . She was fine through her 8 front teeth and four molars...but these canines seem to he bothering her a lot more!!! Does tylenol seem to help him at all?
kiwi / 619 posts
@Mae : awwww so many cute baby girl clothes! She's going to have an awesome wardrobe!! Haha your cat looks super impressed in the carrier
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Mae: So many cute clothes! We didn't get many outfits at our first shower. I think people are intimidated with the one of each sex thing and aren't sure if they need to find matching outfits or what. I'm hoping to get some more clothes at my family shower this weekend. Love your pets trying out the gear! Unfortunately our dog is too big for the Ergo!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: aweeeesome on the pics. Freaking love your dog, esp in the crib! lol on cat in carrier, is that a beco!?
@cookie_dough: I don't know on the teeth/chewing thing? I think she does ok, lol. We feed just just about everything, we haven't puréed anything since at least the summer, she has always been a good chewer, and doesn't really ever choke except when she tries to giggle and eat!
Just took dog for bedtime walk, I think with all my coughing and sneezing, my back has popped something, walking was not comfortable, oh no. Going to shower and let the heat fall on it, then hit the hay.
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: I have no idea what kind of carrier it is! My friend gave me two. That one and a wrap-style one.
@twodoghouse: hopefully you get some more clothes! The nice thing about baby clothes though is that they are so cheap! I had totally planned to get most of our kid's wardrobe from garage sales bc there are always so many cheap cute clothes there. But I think we're about taken care of hah

@Beebug: I am so impressed! I am lucky if I can paint a wall normally lol. Love it!
@Mae: Love it! So many cute things! I love trying the stuff out...we did that too

@Mae: it's so much fun to look through the gifts! It looks like you for some great stuff!
