@gingerblonde: Pup hasn't seemed to notice any changes at all. I mean, all the pets seem a little more clingy to me lately, which I hear is normal for pregnancy. But in terms of house stuff/nursery, he doesn't care. I was thinking that a few weeks before my due date I'll probably set up the pack and play in our bedroom where it will be when the baby comes because it is sort of in the dog's "spot" (next to my side of the bed. But other than that I think he'll be fine.

@Mamasig: sorry, that sucks so bad!

Does anyone have heightened tastes lately? I am finding everything tastes salty!!

I hate salt, I don't put it on anything and try to consume as little of it in terms of what's just in things, so it's driving me a little crazy!

@Mamasig: I'm so sorry you didn't pass I know it can be a bummer, but you can still pass the 3 hr! Don't lose hope.

I did the 2 hr (3 draws, 3 urine samples) and got 75 gm of glucose administered. I got 145 gm/dl at the 1 hr mark and 130 gm/dl at the 2 hr mark.

@Beebug: I've noticed the opposite. DH keeps asking why the food is salty and I keep thinking it's lacking salt!

@Beebug: omg yes! But I didn't realize it until you said it. I feel like when I've been snacking lately (like tortilla chips or whatever) it almost feels like they burn my tongue with salt. I didn't really think about it until just now though.

@Mamasig: I passed my 1-hr this time but failed it last pregnancy. My level was 155 and needed to be under 140. I did eat potato soup for lunch a couple hours before my test though so I'm sure that's why I failed it. I passed the 3-hr test no problem.
These were my results of the 3-hr test
    Blood draw Range Results
    OB GLUCOSE FASTING 65-95 mg/dL 79
    OB GLUCOSE 1 HR 65-179 mg/dL 133
    OB GLUCOSE 2 HR 65-154 mg/dL 114
    OB GLUCOSE 3 HR 65-139 mg/dL 94

    Hope that helps!

@Beebug: I haven't noticed anything with my taste lately but I can smell if someone ate garlic within the past three days. It was worse towards the end of my pregnancy with DS but getting stronger now. Oh and that's it - my sense of smell is pretty normal except for garlic. I must be a vampire!

@cookie_dough: @gingerblonde: You guys are awesome. We also got the Sundvik (in the black/brown) so it helps to hear that both Ikea and outside mattresses were fine. And @cheesetomywhine: it totally helps to know that their sheets fit other mattresses! Maybe the person whose post I read had put the crib together wrong or something...

@Mamasig: Sorry to hear of your bummer glucose test. Sounds like lots of people who "fail" at first go on to pass? Fingers crossed for you!

@anandam: There is always the risk of user-error with IKEA, haha! For the money paid, I think it's a really pretty crib and I hope you like yours too!

Responding to the dog questions My dog, a cairn terrier, was weird at first like she wouldn't look at DS. She basically pretended he didn't exist. And she did have a few accidents in the first couple of weeks. But she is fine now and has really loved him since he started finger foods!

@Mamasig: sorry about your test! Good luck with the next one!

@Beebug: I haven't noticed anything. I do think about cake and sundaes an awful lot. As in they sound good any time of the day. Oy.

@Mae: Your hair looks amazing! Love the bump

My dog didn't have trouble adjusting to R but she had lived with my sister and nephew when they were babies. They're 8 and she is 11. My old girl sure loves meal times though!

So I have new respect for all you ladies today. I know my day-to-day is pretty easy since I just work at home and don't have to be super mobile all day, but man I don't think I generally appreciate that enough.

Today I had to go into the office to meet a client and had to run back and forth to my office (on the 2nd floor) like 4 times in 30 min. Then I had to go run a bunch of errands. I've been home for like 3 hrs and I'm still exhausted and sore. I don't know how people who work out of the house and have to walk around all day (or have kids to run after!) do pregnancy. You all have my full respect!

@Mae: I have to be careful not to stand too much with my events, otherwise the pelvic pain is just totally unbearable.

I wish I had time to get horizontal for a bit, that is the biggest thing I struggle with being up or sitting most of the day!

@Mae: it's funny, during the first trimester I wished I was back at my job so I had designated time to relax on the train and could just sit at my desk for a good part of the day. Now I'm so happy to SAH with DS. Chasing him arouxnd all day is nothing compared to having to get my tired butt out of bed before DH leaves for work. Plus he loves to help with housework so I get to relax during nap time. Oh and I meant to say earlier that you look fantastic in your bump photo. Pregnancy definitely agrees with you!

Sweet, sweet ladies- I have been MIA for a few weeks, but doing well. I just got back from an awesome trip with my girlfriends. It was a 'yoga retreat' in Mexico. I did not do lots of yoga. Mostly naps, and lounging in the pool. I missed the snow storm in my area. Yippee! On the second to last day, I had a little breakdown because I realized life will be very different. No spontaneous trips etc. but yet, life will also be really, really incredibly wonderful. So my tears were of joy as well.

In other fun news, I had my preggo maternity shoot. Here is the only sample I have

Also, we have been working on the nursery. Still working on it. My plan was to highlight the 2014 Pantone color of the year (yes- I am a dork). Here are a few progress pics.

@coopersmama: love the ombré closet! It turned out so nice! I also love the ikea kitchen cart. When I saw it on the blog last week I tried to see how I could incorporate it into my nursery but I don't think I can.

I finally stopped procrastinating and took the glucose test and I passed! It's a good thing because I bought 5 boxes of Girl Scout cookies last weekend! Yum!

I don't want to sound like a bad mom (already) but these hiccups... they really put me on edge! G seems to get them at least twice daily and during these 5 minutes I try to shake or rock them away but ahhhh the pulsing somehow really gets to me. Is that bad, or weird?

  30. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Glitter: You're not a bad mom already! The hiccups don't bug me but sometimes she gets a foot or something wedged up under my ribs and tries to stretch and ughhh not awesome. I totally try to push her back down! I figure its just the first in the long list of things our kids will do that annoy us haha

  31. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Mae: I haven't had any foot stuck under my ribs, but that doesn't sound very fun either! But yes, I guess this is preparation for later huh? *typing as I rock, try to rock them away....*

@Coopersmama: That maternity photo is beautiful! I love your nursery too!

@Mrs Hazelnut: Yay for passing your glucose test!

@Glitter: I don't think you're weird for feeling that way! It's just super bizarre to realize a little being is moving around in there, independently of you. My husband is back to calling the babies aliens because he finds it so weird to feel them moving around in there! I'm like, these are only the ones you can feel from the outside. Imagine all the ones I'm feeling the rest of the day!

@Mamasig: I was 5 points over on my 1 hr with DS I think, but passed the 3 hour with flying colors.

@Coopersmama: I'm going to steal this idea! We have similar closets from ikea and I'm sick of them!

  35. junebugmama

    nectarine / 2019 posts

@twodoghouse: @Glitter: I have moments where pregnancy totally creeps me out. It's super alien like. There's a tiny person trapped inside of my abdomen kicking and punching and feeding off me essentially. Don't get me wrong the whole thing is amazing, but also super weird when you think about it.

  36. Beebug

    pomegranate / 3917 posts

@Coopersmama: Awesome maternity pic! And nursery looks so fun! You are so brave with colour, love, love, love it, I definitely don't have it in me!!

@Apex: Hey Momma, how are you doing?! Nice to see you post, think about you and always mean to post and say "hey, everything okay" Hope all is well

@Mrs Hazelnut: yay on passing, and lol on girl scout cookies! The cookie ones or choc mint ones? Love the cookie ones!!

@Glitter: The craziest thing was when DD got the hiccups when she was out and I remember being skin to skin with her and it was SO weird with her on the outside, but the rhythm feeling the same! I don't find this babe gets them too often, but DD it was multiple times a day. You are definitely not a bad Mom!!

DH painting kids rooms today, eeee!! I can't wait to get home sometime mid-day today to see. I am sooo tired. Day 3 of event, I did a 15 hour day Wednesday, 13 yesterday, today will probably be 12-13, tomorrow will be 14-15, I am so beat, so sick. I may go home for a bit today and just get horizontal, body is so sore. Only thing that really sucks is I am gone before DD wakes and home after she's in bed, Sunday when the event is over I am driving them to the airport for 5am and they're gone Sun-Fri. I get a little teary just typing that! I am excited for them to go to DHs fam, but selfishly I wish I had more (any? lol) time with my kiddo before she goes!

@twodoghouse: @junebugmama: lol! Yes, the first time DH saw my belly move from round to lopsided he gave me this weird look and didn't speak for 10 full seconds. Freaky!

@Glitter: a conversation with me and my 6 yr old bonus son last night

Jacob: "Sitting next to you on the couch just weirded me out"
    Me: "Well that's nice"
Jacob: "I kept seeing something move even though you were sitting still and then I realized it was your belly!! Eww!"

  39. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@twodoghouse: so alien-esc. Every time she starts moving a lot and I can actually see my stomach moving, I picture scenes from the Alien movies. My pregnancy app said LO is 4 lbs now. And it's just like… there is a 4 lb PERSON inside me right now? It's so freaking weird.

  40. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Beebug: that's sweet! I read somewhere that if you take note of the time they usually have hiccups, after they're born you usually feel them around the same time still... was it like that for you?

Thanks for the reassurance that I'm not a bad mom! I love my kiddo and can't believe he's annoying me, already lol
