@Glitter: aw, you look great! And it sounds like all the nursery plans are in the works!

@Glitter: Such a cute photo! I cannot believe we are getting so close. Craziness! I bet your nursery will be lovely. If it makes you feel better we haven't started on R's big girl room yet so she is still in the nursery. Hopefully soon!

So the baby has been moving like WOAH today. Not so much kicking as just shifting and stretching and poking. And it's all been out towards my stomach, not lung or bladder shots. It's sort of awesome I think the not-uncomfy movement is by far my fav part of pregnancy.
pear / 1586 posts
@Mae: Aw yay! That is awesome. I love the movement. The baby totally made my stomach lopsided earlier. I told DH to look as he/she was moving and boom the right side was totally sticking out. It amused me.

@Glitter: Love the picture! Such a pretty dress I'm not sure if I'm bigger than last time...I can't seem to locate any of my pictures from last pregnancy. I definitely feel bigger though. And I think I gained max 35 pounds last time, and this time I'm already up 30 I think...so it will probably end up being more than 35 this time!

@Glitter: You look great!
@Mae: Aw, I love the days when they are crazy active! The movement has been my favorite part too, although sometimes it kind of freaks me out too.

I keep meaning to compare weeks preggo pics with #1 vs this one, see how I look in comparison!
Bought paint last night for #2's room, and also had shelves cut to fit on either sides of the window, the kid in lumber at home depot did like 8 zillion cuts for me for free (I needed specific depth and two different width times 3 shelves each width) and they look awesome!! Bought the stain for them (and for the refinishing for all furniture and am SO excited. I hate that I can't do it, but it's neat to get the project rolling.

@Beebug: you are so ambitious, all these DYI projects! We bought ikea furniture and assembling it was enough of a project for our household!
I just had a checkup with my OB. Turns out my in-laws' scale is bonkers...I've only gained 24 pounds, not 30...and I'm measuring perfectly. AND I passed my glucose test! what a relief. AND baby boy is head down! I don't think DD was ever head down, so this is quite a change from last time

@Glitter: You look great! Love the dress!
@Mae: Love that nursery! I'm getting anxious to start on ours seeing your pretty pictures
@cookie_dough: You look great! Yay for such a good appointment!!!
@Beebug: Where do you get all that energy?! We've never had HD cut wood for us and I always get annoyed with DH because he cuts it crooked or wonky. He refuses to ask someone to help. It's so annoying!
So I think DH and I had a mini freakout over the weekend that we have just 2 months left until baby! We are still waiting for our contractor to start work and it doesn't make sense for us to do much until after they are done because it pretty much affects every room except our bedroom. Yesterday DS and I spent a good chunk of the day organizing the basement and I was so sore afterwards! But it did feel good to finally get something accomplished. Anyone else starting to freak out or get excited by how soon our LO's will be here?
papaya / 10343 posts
@cookie_dough: so glad things looked good at the doc!
@skipra: haha totally agree with the freaking out. I'm due 2 months from today. CRAZY TOWN. Like, my due date is closer than New Years was at this point, and that seems like yesterday!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
I had a dream last night it was May 10th (why that date I don't know?) and all of you ladies had your babies and I was the only one left! Given I was awake for the day by 3:42am today, having a dream is impressive! I remember waking from that dream just after 1am though and frantic, it took a few minutes for me to convince myself it was still March, lol.
@cookie_dough: There will be ikea furniture too! I pride myself on being super handy, and so the projects are so much fun, not so much for DH who isn't as handy, sees things (or the way to do things!) totallllly differently, but tolerates my antics as it almost always usually turns out great, lol. He was a hockey boy who never had to do stuff, where as me the oldest of a single Mom, I had to fix, build, etc whatever we needed to fix something! I'm not handy mechanically (cars) but building, I can build anything, lol.
@skipra: I always play flirty and dumb when I go there, always go without DH or with DD (with DD last night) and I explain "the man is going to use the saw to cut the lumber, do you want to watch", also making whoever is helping me feel like they are part of the solution giving them freedom to pick what boards they want for me, and I play it up, and usually get whatever I want done, haha!! Awful, but those perfect cuts are SO worth it!
Painting is done, I am thrilled with it, now to get the kids bedrooms done, the paint in our master and ensuite will be done in 7 years, hahaha....you watch.

@Mae: OMG New Year's was as far away as my due date is. I guess luckily enough for me that seemed like a long time ago because we've been so busy with the new house.
@Beebug: Ha I will have to try some of those tricks! Next time we need anything I'll go while DH is at work.
So I was just thinking, does anyone know when the SSA baby name list for 2013 is coming out? I know it's in May but can't seem to figure out when. Since we're still undecided between two names I kind of wanted to see the updated list before this little guy arrives.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@cookie_dough: Yay - sounds like a great appointment!
@skipra: I'm starting to get a little freaked out too. We actually have a ton of stuff ready (nursery nearly done, clothes washed, etc.) but I don't feel emotionally/mentally ready AT ALL.
@Beebug: Haha, that's hilarious about your Home Depot technique. Love it. That's also awesome that the painting is done. I soooo wish we could hire some painters for our hallways/entryway, etc.

Here are our colours, I just put them together for pinterest, lol.
So livingroom, entry/halls, kitchen, and main bath are done!
We will do mudroom, bedrooms, and ensuite!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
btw -DH doesn't know yet, but when he is away next week (he is going to paint new baby room Friday) the room will be painted with DDs room colour and our room colour, I'm doing the stripes!! I love him, and don't keep all sorts of secrets from him, haha you all know the only two, I promise!!!
kiwi / 619 posts
@Beebug: Love all of those colours! DD's big girl room is somewhere between your living room and Kid #2 room i think!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@skipra: I'm excited to meet him! And just can't wait to see how he looks! I'm curious if he will resemble big brother. I think I'm more excited than when I had DS.
I'm a bit procrastinating when it comes to fixing the nursery. Honestly, I'm not doing anything but moving big brother's clothes upstairs and changing some things with his name. I have his clothes organized and would need to wash them. And love some baby things back downstairs. I guess I know I still have some time so I'm not worrying about it? I'll try to have it all done by 36 weeks which still gives me 8 weeks to go.
I'm just not a nester. I didn't nest last time either. Maybe it will come later.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mamasig: I am in frantic nesting mode. I can sense it's annoying DH, and I can't stop. I need to stop! My body hurts, and of all times with all the work and life stuff going on, I need to chill. It sounds dumb, but thinking about it and doing it gives me a bit of an escape.
I remember at 40+2 with DD I was on my hands and knees scrubbing the grout on all of our tile, lol like of all times?
kiwi / 687 posts
@cookie_dough: Which Ikea crib did you get? Any issues with mattress fitting? We bought an Ikea crib (still in the box - we are the worst nesters ever) but have read some people have issues with standard mattresses from elsewhere leaving unsafe gaps?
kiwi / 619 posts
@anandam: we actually bought the mattress at IKEA as well and it fits perfectly ...sorry, I have no experience with other mattresses! We bought the sundvik crib. We have it grey/brown in the nursery and white in DD 's new room. Which one do you have?
pear / 1586 posts
Sorry I cannot respond to everyone since I find it hard on my phone!
@skipra: I believe the SSA data comes out o Mother's day and/or that weekend. It was a bit later last year though.
@anandam: I doubt this helps but I bought crib sheets from IKEA and they fit my regular mattress (from Target) just fine.

31w(3d) pic from this morning. I'm starting to feel sort of huge. Like my stomach just feels so tight/stretched like she has run out of room. Plus I think she moved up because I'm having a hard time taking a deep breath the last 2 days. It's not too bad, but just weird. I go up one flight of stairs and I'm out of breath lol.
nectarine / 2019 posts
@Mae: you look great! I can't breathe either, but I remember from last time that starting around now and staying that way
kiwi / 619 posts
@Mae: great pic!!! You look awesome I've pretty much completely given up on stairs. The bathrooms on our floor at work are still under construction so we have to go up or down a floor and I pretty much always take the elevator now...I feel so lazy!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Mae: You look great! Love your hair in that pic!
@cookie_dough: I'm still using the steps at work, but I'm really tempted to give them up and do the elevator. When I take the steps upstairs I have to sit down in the HR office at the top of the steps and catch my breath before moving on to whatever I went upstairs for!
papaya / 10343 posts
@twodoghouse: Thanks! I got my hair colored and the stylist always likes to curl my hair after for some reason haha. She never charges me for it, so I'll take it! (esp since it looks good even after sleeping on it. how do they do that?)
cherry / 184 posts
@anandam: I also purchased the IKEA Sundvik crib (I got it in brown/black) and I have had no issue with getting a standard crib mattress to fit with absolutely no gap. I bought a Safety 1st recommended by Baby Bargains and it fit perfectly.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Mae: omg on 5 level split!
Stairs kill me, I feel like I'm so out of breath as-is, let alone doing stairs! Bungalow life is awesomeee, lol. Our laundry is in basement though, and I reminded myself last night that I may take a break from CD for DD in May pp as less trips up/down stairs the better, so she can do sposies for a couple weeks, I don't plan to CD through newborn days either (started at 3w with DD) so I shouldn't need to do stairs at all.
So my afternoon at home yesterday to rest and work? I think that rest let my body take over and I definitely am worse today! Set-up day today for event, everything going smoothly so far thank-goodness, just waiting for a few tractor trailers to arrive to really get things going.
I picked up some boy clothes this am! They are all soooo cute!
papaya / 10343 posts
@Beebug: lol I know. This house is not ideal for having a little baby. The room where we spend most of our time is level 2, kitchen/bathroom on level 3, master suite on level 4, and other bedrooms (including nursery) on level 5. We're already planning to have a mobile changing station on level 2 because I just don't see me climbing all those stairs to the nursery 12 times/day with a newborn.
Sorry you're not feeling better though!
cherry / 184 posts
@Mae: I totally hear you on the mobile changing station! We did the same thing because the only way to get more space in Seattle is to go vertical, so townhouses like ours typically have three small floors or so. Master bedroom and nursery are on top floor, main living area and kitchen are on middle floor - we set up the pack n play w/ changing table attachment in the living room so she has a place to be changed and hang out when I am housebound on mat. leave and don't want to climb stairs.
We assembled it already because we gotta give the corgi enough time to acclimate to a new piece of furniture invading her space! She's being a weirdo about the nursery - she is very sensitive though and change affects her quite a bit. How's your dogger doing with it all?
pomegranate / 3565 posts
So I just failed my one hour glucose test. I have to go back next week for the 3 hour. I'm so bummed. I almost cried.
DH was trying to make me feel better and says it was the cereal I ate last night at 9. Whatever - not making me feel better.
For you ladies that failed the one hour, do you remember your level? Mine was 152 with the cutoff of 140. How did y'all do on the 3 hour?
cherry / 184 posts
@Mamasig: I am so sorry to hear that! I had to fight back the tears when I failed mine as well. I had a level over 180 when I failed, so I failed in a big, big way!
When I took the 3hr test 3 days later, I passed. My fasting level and 3hr levels were good - apparently a bit on the high side for 1hr and 2hr, but not enough to fail me outright. I don't have the exact numbers or I'd give them (I will look)... but I really thought I was doomed when I failed the 1hr and I ultimately passed.
Best of luck - please let us know how it goes!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@gingerblonde: Thanks - I hope I pass. I'm thinking of going Monday and getting it over with. Ugh. Oh and my dogs all acclimated very well to DS. It was like they knew from day one he was part of the family. They never showed jealousy or anything.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@Mamasig: I failed my one hour too, but passed (um, barely) the three hour. They never told me my numbers, though. I'm crossing my fingers that you'll pass your three hour test!
cherry / 184 posts
@Mamasig: Good to know about your dog - Winnie is a really sweet little pup and she's very calm. I think she will be fine - she has just been very skeptical of the nursery, and she's also a bit of an attention hog, which will be an unpleasant change for her. Hopefully she is like yours and naturally adjusts with no issue!
