    @Mae: Good luck!!!

@cookie_dough: I think DS is close in age to your DD. I so love this age. He is obsessed with helping with the household chores, really has a great personality and isn't throwing tantrums yet. Can we just freeze time and not let them get any older please?
Are you planning to BF? You can still pig out on Mother's Day even if the baby has already arrived - all in the name of keeping up your supply, right?

@skipra: Oh, we definitely have tantrums...I'm jealous that you have avoided them so far! But they aren't major tantrums and they are usually over pretty quickly. She's just learning SO much and I'm constantly impressed by how much she remembers/how much she can do on her own now. Haha, I love that your DS likes helping with the chores!

@cookie_dough: Well I guess we sometimes get tantrums. He gets upset and cries for a little bit if he doesn't get his way but if we just ignore him he gets over it fast and it's always when we're at home. I'm just thinking of the major, middle of the supermarket, totally out of control tantrums.

  4. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@skipra: oh ya, I'm totally not looking forward to THOSE tantrums. For the most part, I still find her mini tantrums kind of cute We took her to see disney on ice this weekend...I thought it would be torture and that she wouldn't sit still...but she LOVED it. She threw a mini tantrum at intermission because Mickey Mouse was gone, so we had to go back to our seats and sit there and wait for him to come back. And then another mini tantrum as we were leaving. And mini tantrums when we tried to take off her mickey mouse shirt...she ended up wearing it for 3 days straight! I found all of them pretty cute hahaha. But once it's a tantrum over not buying her a toy in the store, I probably won't find it so cute.

Back from my interview! I think it went sort of "just okay." I could tell they liked some of my answers, but over all I felt sort of nervous and like I kept stumbling over my answers. Plus I didn't love my answers for a few of their questions (like "tell me the last time you failed"… I totally blanked). So we'll see! I'll probably hear back in a week or two if I'm getting a second interview.

Oh also? Maternity tights SUCK. Both me and the baby hated them (she kicked the crap of me the whole time). Like, the chart said to go by your pre-preg height/weight. I picked the size higher than my CURRENT (preg) weight and they were still soooooooo tight.

  7. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@Mae: Oh, I agree, maternity tights SUCK. I find that they just fall down the whole time. I haven't even bothered with them this pregnancy, I stick to leggings when wearing dresses (although I guess that wouldn't work with a suit). Fingers crossed that you get some good news about the job! That's good that you could tell that they liked some of your answers. I'm sure you did better than you think you did on the harder questions.

    papaya / 10343 posts

@cookie_dough: yea it was the first time I've tried to wear them. Honestly i bare leg-it most of the time because Meh. But for an interview I thought I ought to suck it up and go full on professional. Even took my nose piercing out! lol

Checking in! Just had my 28 week appointment, measuring a week ahead as I have been since 8 weeks. Glucose test, check. Rhogam shot, check (yowch!). My Dr. only does appointments every 3 weeks until 36 weeks (lame) so I don't go in again until 31 weeks.

Oh, and I've gained 30 lbs. (insert screaming face of death emoticon here).

  10. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@whodat: I won't get officially weighed for the month until Tuesday, but I weighed myself at my in-laws on the weekend (we don't have a scale at home). If their scale is accurate, I have gained 30 pounds as well! I kind of freaked out...I now weigh the same as DH.

  11. whodat

    apricot / 365 posts

Oh also! Baby boy is breach. Anyone else breach? My doctor is not concerned at all and says I can totally do a breach vaginal delivery since I already pushed out a 9 pounder.

  12. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@whodat: I'm not breech, although I thought I was! Before the midwife checked me she said that if I was still breech at 32 weeks then she would give me some advice on spinning the baby at home or having a chiropractic adjustment to do it. So if you maybe don't want to push the baby out breech (even if you could!) you could prob ask about that?

  13. whodat

    apricot / 365 posts

@Mae: I'm actually kind of scared of trying to spin the baby, after the horror stories my mom told about trying to spin me. She said it hurt a lot and was really frustrating. Hoping he moves on his own, and if not, we'll deal with it then.

Just had my 30 week appointment and everything looks good. Such a relief that I'm measuring on track because I was already falling a couple weeks behind at this point with DS. I am also close to gaining 30 lbs already but I think it's only 24 lbs on the doctor's scale. I swear it's because of being pregnant during the evil trifecta of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

@whodat: Wow I am surprised your doctor would let you deliver breech! I thought that was an automatic prescription for a C-section. I'm not breech but baby does seem to be a in posterior position most of the time which can lead to long and difficult labors Midwife is not concerned at this point though.

@Mae: Crossing my fingers that you get a second interview! Did the pregnancy come up at all? And pregnancy tights sound like a torture device. I don't wear tights or panty hose ever anyway. If I need something I'm all about the thigh highs. I hate having something like that covering my belly.

Oh question for moms having 2nd or 3rd baby - has your doctor mentioned getting another TDap? I got one less than 2 years ago but they are recommending that I get another because they think the Pertussis portion starts to become less effective after 2 years. Just curious what other people are doing.

  16. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@whodat: I had a breech baby last time (ended up in c-section). I tried everything to get her to turn, and nothing worked. I wouldn't say any of it was painful, except for the external version done at the hospital (which I totally would NOT do again if this baby was breech). Other than that, I did some stuff with an exercise ball, did handstands in the pool, etc, and also saw a chiropractor. Check out the spinning babies website. My OB gave me the option to deliver breech, but I didnt' like the sound of the risks, so I opted for the c-section instead. But it was my first baby, so maybe it's different if you've already had a vaginal birth?

@skipra: yay for a good appointment! I hear ya...i feel like it's been excuse after excuse for junk food. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, superbowl, valentine's day...the candy/chocolate/chips just never end! I THINK that I got the TDap vaccine the other day (it wasn't called that, but it was a vaccine for pertussis) when I took DD in for an appointment. I don't remember getting one last pregnancy though, so i'm sure I was due for one!

  18. HabesBabe

    grapefruit / 4400 posts

@skipra: My OB hasn't mentioned anything about a TDap booster or 2nd shot yet... but that's a good question for me to ask at my next appt!

Sorry to have been MIA for so long, ladies! @Mae asked awhile back status of Team Green... we're still TG and I "have a feeling" it's going to be a boy. But we'll be stoked (and probably done) either way!

@cookie_dough: Yeah, she said something about me having a "proven pelvis" -- I guess since I was able to push out a large baby already I can push anything out.

  20. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@whodat: "proven pelvis" big props to ya! My friend was delivered breech, her mom gives the story regularly to this day! If your doc is comfortable with it, I don't see the problem, but then again I have C-section phobia so don't take my advice.

@Mae: Did you get any further details about the job? How was the intvw from your end? Did you get to ask anything about the benefits package, esp concerning leave til Sep?

Last I checked I was up 18 lbs, but that was many Oreos ago. I am preparing for an additional 10 lbs at my next weigh-in.

Has anyone packed a hospital bag yet? I've been delaying and delaying on this but today my doctor said we need to consider hospitalization for my pelvic pain. I then broke down for thirty minutes, at least. I really do not want to sleep at a hospital! But I guess now I have to be realistic and get a hospital bag organised in case it comes down to that.

  21. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@skipra: @Glitter: The pregnancy did come up because I brought it up. I talked to my old career counselor and she suggested I bring it up initially just to look like I wasn't hiding anything. So I did and I think it was fine. They seemed really surprised (I really think my suit hides the bump better than you'd expect at 30 weeks) but said that because this is a new position they are opening and not a vacated position they are trying to fill, they have some flexibility to wait on "the right person" and timing isn't really as much of an issue here as it might otherwise be. (But we didn't talk any specific dates)

From my perspective I think the interview went well. I think that I would really like working in the office, everyone I met seemed super nice and I think the work sounds interesting and challenging. I didn't ask anything about the pay or benefits because I think first interview is a bit early for that. The only downside is that I didn't realize the office is run by a non-profit which does not bode well for salary (the salary was not listed on the job advert). I'm willing to take a small pay cut for a job I'd like better, but I really CAN'T take a big pay cut… so I'm a little worried that even if I got offered the job I'd be unable to take it. But again, it hasn't been discussed yet so I could be making false assumptions.

  22. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@Mae: well that's good that they're not in a rush to fill the position - could very well work in your favour! I'm guessing this is legal work as well right? I know you don't like being a lawyer much now, but I'm not sure if you wanted to quit your job or quit your field altogether. Did they give you a time in which you could expect a response? I find the most frustrating part about interviews is the waiting after to know.. did I make it to the next step or not?!

  23. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Glitter: Yes it is a staff attorney position but not at a firm like where I currently work. It's more public-interest-y (which is what I actually went to school to do but then just sort of ended up in private practice). I have sort of generally thought I'd like to get out of law because I don't like private practice and I can't really afford to do legal aid. But if I could find a job that was somewhat "doing good" while not also "going broke" that would be super haha. They didn't give an exact timeline for getting back to me but said they're still conducting first round interviews and then will decide on second round interviews and will let me know either way. I assume in the next week or two. But I'm not all that terribly anxious about it. Especially since I'm in no hurry to start! haha

@Mae: I'm glad the interview went well and that they don't seem to be in a huge rush to fill that position. Also glad to hear your LO is head down according to the midwife!

@Glitter: I think I need to pack a bag soon since twin moms tend to go early, but I haven't done anything yet. I'm so sorry that your pelvic pain has gotten to the point of hospitalization. Is there something they would do for you there that couldn't be achieved through at-home bed rest? Wishing you some relief from the pain soon!

Re: hospital bag--- no I have not. I plan to start doing some research on that in the next few weeks and probably get a bag packed around 35-36 weeks?

  26. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

@twodoghouse: just stronger pain mens via intravenous therapy. I honestly feel I could bear the pain at home but it does leave me pretty immobile and with that comes the danger of clotting. I'm supposed to discuss it in more detail with my doctor soon so until then I wait...

  27. cheesetomywhine

@skipra: I received the booster two weeks ago per my midwife's suggestion. As for others, like DH, I was told that the Tdap shot is a lifetime shot and that new information has come out that it is best for pregnant women to get the booster so this current baby gets the antibodies. Hope that helps!

@Glitter: I'm sorry to hear about your pain. That doesn't sound like fun! I haven't packed my bag yet, maybe around 35-36 weeks? I'll have to check when I did it with my first.

@Mae: Yay for having the interview! I hope that it works out the way you want it to. I've never worn maternity tights but since I don't like regular tights I cannot fathom wearing them.

  28. Mamasig

    pomegranate / 3565 posts

@Glitter: last time, my doc said my bag should be packed and car seat installed by 35 weeks - just in case!

This time, I haven't even thought about it. Well, I do remember thinking I'm not taking the same nightgown again because it was uncomfortable. I preferred knit pants with a full panel.

  29. Mamasig

    pomegranate / 3565 posts

2+ moms - do your toddlers climb all over you? Sometimes I'm scared DS is going to smush his brother! I feel like I'm constantly protecting the belly!

  30. cheesetomywhine

    pear / 1586 posts

@Mamasig: Not really. She loves to sit on my lap though and constantly tries to scoot back for more room. Alas there is none to be found! However when she comes in to snuggle in the morning (so I can get a few extra zzz's) I will have to remind her not to push/belly slam/climb on my belly. Apparently when I am lying down she sees it as prime opportunity to go to my belly.

@Mae: I think it was such a brave move just to go for the interview, given that you were nervous to apply and now are so pregnant. Great news that parts of the interview felt good. It's exciting to imagine it might be everything you're looking for! Haha and don't know if it would work for you but I still wear my regular tights a few times a week, just rolled under by belly. Not sure how they stay up, but they do.

@Glitter: So sorry your pain has become so intense! I hope you find a remedy soon that doesn't involve clots or hospitals.

@whodat: Congrats on the pelvis! Nobody around here does breech vaginal births that I know of, but I would love that option if it happened that way for us. Are you in New Orleans? Curious which hospital?

@Mamasig: Technically not a 2+ mom but my cat has taken a liking to leaping onto my belly while I'm sleeping and that sort of freaks me out. Some woman walking through the moving subway fell on me a few weeks ago, and I often commute through the trains at rush hour. So I feel the guarding instinct!

  32. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@anandam: Thanks And I might try that with regular tights if I need to wear them again (or just go and buy the biggest ones I can find… like do they make tights in size 6x? Lol). Hopefully I won't have to though! I don't bother with them for court anymore so I'll probably only need them again if I get a second interview and I can't find any maternity pants that look professional enough.

Forgot to say I had a check up yesterday. All's basically well but my uterus is still measuring ahead (by 3-4 weeks now) so we're going for another sono on Monday to see what the heck is going on in there! Feeling a little nervous that I'm going to have a 14lb newborn...

And they recommended a Tdap with every pregnancy, too. Didn't have any in house so I'll go to my PCP/GP for it.

    @cookie_dough: @skipra: I'm up 27lbs, so almost at 30!

  34. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@anandam: yay for a good appointment! maybe that just means your LO will make an early entrance? Or maybe you just have a lot of fluid or something? I'm sure you won't have a 14 lb baby haha.

  35. whodat

    apricot / 365 posts

@anandam: I'm at Touro Hospital. My doctor said that she was certified to do them, and not may doctors are. She's basically a midwife with an M.D. -- love her.

  36. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

Thanks everyone for the explanation of the Tdap! DS was with me at the appointment so I was really only half paying attention. I didn't really get why I needed a booster but not DH - makes a lot of sense!
@HabesBabe: Good to hear from you! How are you feeling? How is baby doing? Did the bladder issues resolve?

@Glitter: Wow I'm so sorry your pain is that bad that you may have to stay in the hospital for it. Nothing has been helping? Like the swimming or other things they suggested?

@Mamasig: Yes! DS loves to climb all over my belly and tries to hit and kick it. I don't really know what to do to stop it. He also loves to play with my belly button and give it kisses too. It's so sweet.

@anandam: Well I was measuring 3-4 weeks behind with DS and he was about a pound and a half smaller than average so if you go by that then I don't think you need to worry about a 14 lb baby. Hope the ultrasound shows everything is ok. Some people just measure big or small.

Re: hospital bag and car seat - definitely hasn't even crossed my mind yet. We may put in the car seat soon only because DS is obsessed with it. I'm thinking of getting a doll and carrying in the car seat so DS can get used to the idea that he can't climb in it. Last time I didn't pack the hospital bag until the morning of my induction, but we only lived 2 miles from the hospital. I guess I'll probably do it in April sometime. The thing that's tough is a lot of things I use regularly so it's just easier to pack before going to the hospital.

  37. sungirl

    apricot / 309 posts

@cheesetomywhine: yes he does and he doesn't like it when the baby kicks him so he pushes back. The two brothers are wrestling already!@skipra: I think my dis formed belly button is freaking DS out. If I show him he pulls my shirt back down haha!

I haven't thought about packing a bag yet either but like skipra said a lot of it is stuff I use every day so last time I packed what I could and put a list on top of what needed to be added last minute so I wouldn't forget or in case my DH had to grab it which happened to a friend of mine.

  38. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@skipra: One of my fav bloggers was posting about packing her hospital bag and she said for stuff that she couldn't pack ahead she made a list and taped it to the interior door with locations of each item so that it would be easy for her to grab it/remember when she went into labor-- or easy for her to send someone to her house to get the stuff if she needed to go so suddenly she didn't have time. I thought that was a great idea!

  39. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@sungirl: @Mae: That's what we did too. We had a checklist from the midwife's office so we just highlighted and crossed off items on that. I have a list from the hospital packet so I'll probably do the same thing again. Unless you get sent directly to the hospital from an appointment or have to go from work then there's probably time to pack it before heading to the hospital. Good to have a list so you don't forget anything important!

  40. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

I wonder if when people start packing their bags we should maybe start a thread for that? Like whoever the first person to make their list (who is willing!) should start a May Hospital Bag post with their list and then as each person who wants to participate makes their own lists they can share so we can help each other not forget stuff?
