@Mae: I wonder if I can find my list from last time, I will take a look! I remember that I ended up using like 25% of what I packed! I brought tons of baby clothes...and she didn't wear any of them until we were leaving the hospital. Most of the clothes I packed for myself I didn't use. I didn't read any books, magazine, play any games on the ipad hahaha. Not really sure where the time went!

@Mamasig: For the most part DD doesnt' climb over me too much...occasionally she presses a bit too hard on my belly, but not often. She does however LOVE to look at my belly and then lift up her shirt and look at her own belly. And she is quite amused by belly buttons.

@Mae: good idea! And I had a bag for me, bag for baby and DH had a bag too although I don't know what he packed, so people could share list for them and list for baby

Ok, so apparently the boys like to climb over mama and bump the belly while the girls are better behaved! DS wants nothing to do with the belly button. If he sees your stomach exposed, he pulls your shirt down. Though today I caught him putting stuff under his shirt and walking with his tummy poking out. Was he trying to imitate me? LOL

@sungirl: I think a list for baby is good. I'm more aware of what I need and probably won't remember everything for the baby.

I overpacked for both of us, but it worked out because we stayed in the hospital longer than expected.

@Mamasig: hahaha that is awesome that he was imitating you This morning DD pointed at DH's stomach and said "baby"...I'm sure that made him feel great (not that he has a big stomach).

Good idea about the list on top of the bag! I'm going to start packing this weekend.

Have yall been feeling hiccups? I've been feeling them multiple times a day and they feel so weird. I hope he's ok in there!

  7. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@Glitter: I think I've felt hiccups a few times, but not frequently. I'm sure it is fine though, I hear some people feel them every day at the same time, then when their LO is born they have hiccups still at that time, which is so cute

Anyone else soooo excited about the weekend? I am! We're not really doing anything but I just need a break from work.

  8. Glitter

    persimmon / 1281 posts

I should be excited about the weekend! It's carnival time in Trinidad so it's a looong 5 day weekend. However, I feel like a pregnant lump, so we won't be doing much.

@Mae: me! We're taking DS to his 1st Mardi Gras parade! I hope I can hang without being totally exhausted. I think he is going to love the floats, bands, and beads.

Can you believe it's March 1?! May seemed so far away since finding out I was pregnant in September but now it's already March!

I like the list thread idea. I think I have a good idea of what to pack since last time but heaven forbid not getting to it. DH would be lost. My biggest advice is to pay attention to your camera! Mine must've gotten tangled in the sheets when I was moved to my postpartum room and it was never found so we don't have pictures from right after she was born (except the few I took on my phone to send). I was so upset.

@Mamasig: That is adorable that he was imitating you! R likes to do a belly bump with me but my shirt always must be up. She also refers to it as the baby which is so cute even if she doesn't really understand.

Second time + mums- is your DH planning on sleeping at the hospital with you or going home? I am pretty sure DH will return home to put R to bed like normal and spend the night and return in the morning after she wakes up.

@Glitter: That sounds fun! I'm sorry you're not feeling well though.

@cheesetomywhine: The last time, he went home on the 2nd night after Jax was born. We had been at the hospital for 5 days already and didn't want Jacob to feel like he was being left out. It was a huge mistake for us. I was so tired, and really needed help after the birth so that I could get some rest. Our guy was bananas that 2nd night. It was awful. This time he won't be leaving.

    pear / 1586 posts

@junebugmama: Not what I was hoping to hear! I am sorry your experience wasn't ideal last time though. I was only in for two nights last time and DH, while helpful during the day, was not helpful at night. He slept the whole time! Perhaps I can have a friend stay if I think I may need help. Of course this is all under the assumption that the birth will go smoothly.

Interested in these discussions of husbands staying over! It certainly seemed assumed during our hospital tour because the nurse mentioned breakfast for dads and where they sleep. I was sort of hoping I wouldn't find it necessary though? They don't provide any sort of bed or couch for husbands, just a recliner that you can position to lay flat. My husband is 6'3", there is no way he'll get any sort of decent sleep in that thing. And honestly I think I'll feel guilty watching him try (although he wouldn't complain I'm sure). And I'm hoping I'm only in the hospital a night or two… in which case if I can handle it and send him home it might be nice to have him well rested when I get home so I can then do some serious napping whenever the baby isn't eating that first day home because I can't imagine I'll sleep well in the hospital either. But it sounds like maybe sending him home would be too hard..

@cheesetomywhine: we're planning for DH to stay with me and for my mom to watch DS.

  16. cheesetomywhine

    pear / 1586 posts

@Mae: I understand your thinking. DH wasn't comfortable in the chair but he is a good sleeper so it worked for him. In my experience the nurses were really helpful and did the majority of diaper changes, giving me R and helping me out.

    @Mamasig: Thanks for your input!

  17. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Mae: DH stayed over and I don't think he would have considered not despite the terrible sleep conditions. Have you asked him his preference?

@cheesetomywhine: I'm pretty sure DH will go home. DS really needs one of us there. My mom will be there too so if for some reason I need DH he can come to the hospital but right now not planning on him staying over. The nurses were a lot more helpful than DH last time anyway. His job was to wake me up.to breastfeed and he didn't do it even once!

  18. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

DH stayed over all 3 nights with me. The first two nights he had to share the bed with me since we didn't have a private room, so that recliner chair thing felt like heaven on our last night when we finally got our own room. There's no way I could have managed without him after having a c-section. I'm sure he will stay with me again this time ...hopefully DD will be ok with her grandparents for bedtime!

  19. cheesetomywhine

    pear / 1586 posts

@skipra: That is my thought as well, that R will need one of us. DH does puts her to bed now and if she wakes for some reason overnight I think it'd be more calming to have him there. My FIL lives with us so if I do end up needing DH he can always come back. Thank you for sharing!

@cookie_dough: That is impressive about sharing the bed! I imagine having a c-section is a whole other ball game. I would probably need someone to stay if I end up having to have one too. I am sure she will be fine!

  20. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@skipra: I haven't. I mean I know he expects to stay there. And I guess I figure neither of us will really know for sure how we feel until the day is actually here. I think we'll plan on him staying there and just see how it goes? I dunno. I think I'm just sort of an overly empathetic person. Like I honestly think it will bug me more to think he's uncomfortable than it will bug him to be uncomfortable lol. I just feel like unless I really NEED him I'll be more restful sending him home than letting him stay and feeling badly about it (even if he protests that he's fine, which he will).

How's everyone's weekends? I made curtains for the nursery- yay! It's coming along, now I need to focus on stuff for the walls

  22. cookie_dough

@Mae: Love how the nursery is turning out! So pretty! DH finally finished building the furniture for DD's big girl room, and we hung the curtains. Now I have to transfer all her clothes in there and hang things on the walls.

Here's my 29 week bump pic taken yesterday. I can't believe how huge I'm getting! And how much my bathroom mirror needs to be cleaned

@Mae: Your nursery's looking great! I know that my husband will not sleep well in the hospital (he's a restless sleeper anyway) but I figure it's just the beginning of us never sleeping again, so we'll deal. Plus, with two there is no way I'll be trying to take care of everything on my own right away. We've already decided, though, that if they come early and have to go to the NICU, my husband will go back to work and his mom and I will manage the hospital stuff. That way he can stay home once the babies get home. Hopefully that won't be an issue though!

@cookie_dough: You look so cute! Will you be sharing pics of your DD's big girl room? I'd love to see it!

  24. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@cookie_dough: aw, you look so good! And you should post pics of the furniture!

I don't feel like I'm getting too huge but I do feel like I FEEL really huge. I think my pelvis is starting to move or something bc if I sit in one position too long its sore and I'm starting to feel like I"m going to tip over or something haha.

  25. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@twodoghouse: @Mae: Thanks! I will definitely share pics of her big girl room. I was going to take some last night, but it's still a huge mess in there and the furniture pieces aren't in the right spots, so I will try and fix it up a bit and then take some pictures!

I had to walk to another tower of our building this morning to buy milk and a bottle of water (they are redoing the cafeteria in our tower so you can't get anything right now.) Getting there and back involves climbing a few sets of stairs. I was soooo exhausted and out of breath by the time I got back to my desk. It has completely done me in for the day!

  26. Mae

    papaya / 10343 posts

@cookie_dough: I feel ya. It took me almost 2 hrs to iron the curtains for the nursery Sat night and I had to sit down THREE TIMES to take a break. Ridiculous.

  27. sungirl

    apricot / 309 posts

@cheesetomywhine: plan on DH staying with me and DS staying with grandparents. He was definitely helpful last time and I feel better knowing he is there.

We got DS's new room set up this weekend. Still need to do some decorating. He napped and slept in there yesterday and I think he likes it. It's much bigger than his nursery so he has more room to play.

  28. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@Mae: Ya, same thing happened when I did laundry yesterday! afterwards I had to go and lie on the couch to catch my breath. I constantly have to nag after DH to carry DD up the stairs, chase her to get her coat on, etc. I just can't do it anymore!

@Mae: Nursery looks SO good!! Eeee!!!!

@cookie_dough: Love the bump pic, you're looking great!!!

I've been MIA last few days, I had my biggest work event of year that I plan/co-ordinate on Saturday. We had 3000 or so people. I'm SO tired!!!! We hold these events twice a year and I've done three of them pregnant, 8w, 12w, and now just on 30w, 30w by far my least favourite because I couldn't do anything, no lifting, so I felt bad and dictator like, but the event did go really well, the two days out last week killed me, but as best I could I planned it so that the day would run and it wouldn't even need me there, heaven forbid, which I think really helped me ensure I didn't over do it....!

DD is back at daycare today, the painters had already started two rooms at our house before we left, I am SO pumped to see how things turn out!

I have a cold now, and am in total denial (TMI) about needing to wear pads. Every sneeze every cough.......my ribs feel like they're splitting and I desperately try not to pee a little each time, I'm hurting bigtime over that, it's so unattractive. I think I changed my pants/undies five times yesterday, I so don't have enough clothes for that. I don't want to tell DH, I am just embarassed....ugh

And...I feel out of breath.....all.the.time. So annoying.

While DD was napping yesterday I ran a few errands, got a super cute 4 pack of gender neutral onesies from BRU. I also asked DH if I could buy some 2nd hand clothes of the same fb site I get a lot of DDs clothes now, quality is usually amazing, prices cheap and I justified it saying *if* it is a boy it will be fine to get a few things now (I told him I would only spend $20) and if it's a girl we sell, if it's a boy, we have a few more things at least to get us started and now pay thru the nose, he said it was a great idea, lol.

DH may paint nursery Friday! He has the day off, and so that would be super awesome to get done.

I have another event Wed-Sat this week, already amping up for prep for it today, really, really looking forward to this week being over.

    30w today, holy crap!!!!

I haven't had a chance to properly read back and catch up, I will soon

@Beebug: Sounds exhausting, you're a rock star! Can't wait to see pics of stuff when it's all done And that sucks about the peeing. Pregnancy is not for those who value their pride haha. Pads sound easier than carrying around a half dozen pairs of underwear in your purse though...

@cookie_dough: I feel ya! We went to parades this weekend and I was so tired by the end of the night. On Saturday, I was exhausted and could barely make it back to the car. On Sunday, I smartened up and told DH to go get the car and we'd wait for him. But actually I'm proud of myself. When I was pregnant with DS there was NO WAY I could have made it to any parades. Although I'm still tired, I hope my energy level stays up.

  32. cookie_dough

    kiwi / 619 posts

@Beebug: Wow, I'm exhausted just reading your post! All of that work, AND being sick on top of it? ugh, sounds brutal. You must be so excited that the painting is getting done though! And way to be sneaky about getting your hands on some cute boy clothes

@Mae: The nursery is so pretty! Nice job! I am impressed that you ironed the curtains...the only time I will most likely be ironing mine is when I am making them lol.

@cookie_dough: What a cute bump! And yay for the furniture being done. We haven't started on R's big girl room yet as it is currently my FIL's room and I am still waiting for him and DH to fix up his new room. I am so impatient because I don't want her to think we're kicking her out because of the new baby.

@twodoghouse: That sounds like a great plan regarding hospital sleeping arrangements!

@Beebug: Wow you certainly have a lot going on. I hear you about the pads. TMI- I have been wearing panty liners pretty much this whole pregnancy because of discharge. Ugh that is such a nasty word! My midwife says it is normal but still, how unattractive. I hope you feel better soon! Newly painted spaces sounds nice

  34. whodat

    apricot / 365 posts

@Mamasig: Good for you for making it out there! We walked from our house down to the parades Friday night, which is 1.8 miles one way (I checked) and by the time we got home I was having contractions and needed to drink water and lie down. The next night we drove but ended up parking at least a mile away anyway, but I was smart and drank several bottles of water and was fine.

  35. whodat

Y'all, we had my DD's 8th birthday party yesterday, and we got a spacewalk which I spent MAYBE 15 minutes bouncing in with the kids, and my legs and back are killing me today. That was my workout for the week. DH was appalled when he saw me bouncing and made me sit down. I was like, "it's fine!" and DH goes, "Yeah, like being in a car accident pregnant is fine!"

  36. Mamasig

    pomegranate / 3565 posts

@Beebug: sorry. Being pregnant and sick sucks! This weekend I learned that you will also pee on yourself if you throw up! How glamorous.

Honestly, the aches and pains suck, but I can handle that. What drives me crazy is the indigestion/heartburn!!!! It just makes me want to cry. I'm hungry, but if I eat, I feel like crap. I tried Pepcid last night and it did help.

@Mae: beautiful nursery! You make me feel so behind though... got our cleaner to remove a bunch of stuff from what was the office/store room which will be the nursery but we still have a way to go... Crib and curtains and decor should be here by month end so I have a little time.

@cookie_dough: you look great! Are you any bigger this time than last? Little things wear me out too! I spent an hour in the kitchen Saturday night making a macaroni pie and afterwards I felt like I had run a marathon. DH gave me a full body massage after though so it was well worth it

@Beebug: yayyy for a huge, successful event! I hope the upcoming one runs just as smoothly, and then you get a big break!

@Mamasig: I've heard lots of heartburn means your baby will have a lot of hair! I totally thought it was an old wives tail but I read somewhere that a study at John Hopkins revealed a correlation between the two.. so who knows? You might get a baby with lots of cute hair!

This is my 30 wk (minus one day) pic. Took it after church with DH yesterday. Homestretch ladies!!
