@Autumnmama79: from a fellow teacher, hang in there mama. I have a dr's note since week 7 when I had the huge bleeding scare that I can be only work "light duty" and need to stay off my feet for prolonged periods. Luckily teaching middle school math and science I am able to put my projector and document camera to use! We are also very fortunate to have roaming chromebook carts. Hopefully your dr can help somehow. But I totally get what you mean about stress.

Hi I've been a little MIA, but happy to report that the second tri is awesome so far. Singing a different tune from just a few weeks back!
@Mamasig: Our stroller got delivered yesterday! And we've picked out some cute/meaningful onesies here and there.

@iluvboba637: ok. I won't feel so bad getting clothes and accessories!

@Mamasig: We've started on the nursery a little bit... have paint picked out, bought a crib and a few things for the walls. We ordered our car seat and stroller too since it was such a great deal on black friday. I'm probably going to go crazy with more decorating/buying once we find out the sex in a few weeks!!
@YogiRunner: Glad to hear the second tri is going well for you!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@csross217: Yes, I was like that with my first. Once we knew the sex, it all really started. I've just never found out the sex this early! I want to change the paint color and get some new accessories for the nursery. But baby girl will use the same furniture as her brothers. We need to get her brothers room in order. They will be sharing, so we need new furniture for them. I think I'm just waiting until after the new year to get it. That purchase isn't as fun!

Once we find out the gender and get confirmation at the anatomy scan that all looks good, we'll start shopping. We're pretty set on gear from LO #1 but would have NO clothes for a boy and the nursery is just an empty room with a crib and no decorations right now. My mother-in-law has been buying a ton of baby clothes for both genders and just keeping the receipts. She's insane and channels her excitement into a lot of shopping.
We're doing an elective ultrasound next Saturday 12/12 at one of those boutique places so we can find out the gender before Christmas and surprise everyone when we're all together. My 20 week ultrasound is 12/28 and it felt worth the $50 to find out early.
@Mamasig: I know what you mean, May feels forever far away!

@YogiRunner: so glad you are feeling better. I've noticed a big improvement the past two weeks. So much so, my boss noticed I looked better too!

@littlecasita1122: I have bought 3 shirts from h&m. I bought one with my first one and it still looks new. This time with my second pregnancy I bought two more shirts. I wash under delicate and hang them dry.

How are you all doing May mamas?! Happy to read that many of you are getting to enjoy the second trimester a little more! Some days are hit and miss for me but for the most part I'm a million times better than the horror of those first few months.
We haven't got anything for the baby yet we need to do some serious storage planning and organization at the house before we do. It will be a fair bit of work but we're going to have to buckle down and do it - sooner rather than later! The only thing I saved from DD was the bugaboo.
I had some cramping and lower back pain last week that was starting to worry me, so I ended up going to the ER to get a quick scan to make sure everything was ok. It was! The cramps persisted for a couple of days and have since disappeared. I met with my doula for the first time so that was kind of exciting. She seems great and I already feel better knowing I'll have an experienced, dedicated support person there with us for L & D.
Otherwise just hanging out here at 18+6 weeks, having a hard time hiding the bump these days!!

Hey ladies! I hope everyone is feeling much better in their second trimesters I am still feeling tired (some days are better than others) but other than that I can't really complain. My weight gain is a bit depressing despite working out every single day (15lbs @ 18 weeks). Our little boy will be named Kameron officially! I am ready for May to hurry up and get here

I'm feeling better but the nausea isn't 100% gone. I'll still have random days I throw up, but it's definitely better. We haven't bought much for baby girl yet, but I've purged all my baby boy clothes and have given them away. Now I can start getting her clothes and stuff for her nursery. I think part of me is holding off so I have something to keep me entertained the rest of the pregnancy.
My anatomy scan is scheduled for January 4 and we have a name - Cecilia Isabel.
@fitfigure87: I think I've gained about 18 pounds and I'm 16 weeks. Oh well.

@Autumnmama79: glad everything is ok! ha, I haven't been able to hide my bump this time around.
I'm starting to feel normal now this week. I was dealing with HFM, hives, eczema, cold and food poisoning.

@fitfigure87: congrats on deciding on a name! My husband and I can't agree on a name yet.

Is anyone doing a gender reveal party or announcement? I want to do it for the grandparents when we are at Disneyland this weekend. I was thinking for my mom it be a pink minnie mouse ears in a bag she can pull out. Then for the in-laws they can pull out a banner saying it's a girl. We can do a group photo with Minnie Mouse or at the castle. My husband thinks they won't get it. They didn't get it when I gifted my in-laws with a baby bib saying #1 grandparents for the 1st baby.

@ohemgee: I'm not patient enough for that. My family basically gets a group text five minutes after we find out - lol.
cherry / 130 posts
@Mamasig: lol! I'm not patient either but I want to try something different since we are going to be done at 2 kids.

@ohemgee: Yay! How exciting!
As for a sex reveal, I wasn't really keeping it a secret, but I ended up having three different reveals! I had one at Thanksgiving, where I told my aunts/cousins etc with cakepops, we had a Friendsgiving last weekend where we wrapped an old carseat box and got pink and purple balloons (that the kids could then have) and today at our holiday potluck a coworker wanted to make a sex reveal cake! Its been really fun though

I feel like such a rookie asking this...but can someone tell me if what I am feeling is kicks? They feel kind of like big bubbles popping and they are kind of in the center but at the same level as my hip bones (does that even make sense?) I wouldn't say they hurt exactly, but they don't exactly feel pleasant. I occasionally feel a couple of them at once and then not again for hours or even the rest of the day. Is this just extreme gas or baby I am feeling?
clementine / 811 posts
@TrailRunner: Hm, I don't remember baby movement being uncomfortable until the baby was much bigger and got me in a rib or the bladder. At this point (or even not until 20-22 weeks) it was a little flutter or swish that I felt in my lower abdomen. If its more painful it could be gas, or your ligaments stretching--that can be pretty uncomfortable.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@TrailRunner: I don't remember early baby movement as feeling uncomfortable. One of mine felt like a fish flopping deep in my belly. I think I felt this baby a couple of days ago. It felt like a log rolling.
clementine / 811 posts
@TrailRunner: @Mamasig: Yes! I remember saying it felt like a goldfish swimming or a feather.
kiwi / 585 posts
@HazelEyes: @Mamasig: thanks for the input! I wouldn't describe what I'm feeling as painful, more like a bubble popping under water? Haha I know that sounds so weird, but it's something I've never felt before and I can't really describe it. It happens when I am kind of laying back. Idk it isn't painful but it kind of makes me jump? I guess I'll just see if it happens during my anatomy scan next week and ask the ultrasound tech what it is.
clementine / 811 posts
@TrailRunner: If its rhythmic it could be hiccups, but again, it might be kind of early to feel them. Hopefully it is baby movement. That's fun
clementine / 849 posts
@TrailRunner: I think it's the baby I started feeling the same thing and it's gotten more intense and frequent over the past few weeks... my OB thinks it's the baby moving!

Hey mamas! Found out today we are having a GIRL! She was moving around like crazy and they said all looks good. I had a feeling early on it was a girl and was right I'm happy to have one of each, but I have to say I am pretty used to being a "boy mom"!

@littlecasita1122: congrats!
My my, we are having a lot of girls so far! The boys are still in hiding...This is the opposite of when J was born and everyone was having boys

@littlecasita1122: Congrats. I'm a boy mom of two and was shocked to be having a girl. I just picked up some clothes for her. OMG - it's all so sweet!

@HazelEyes: I'm having a boy!
@TrailRunner: I've had the bubble pops for a few weeks now. I wasn't sure at first, but yeah they are kicks. So much fun!
@Mamasig: I LOOOOVE Cecilia! Beautiful!

@littlecasita1122: Congrats on your GIRL!!! Little girls are simply the best (but I'm totally biased )
@TrailRunner: Sounds like movement to me! Enjoy as it gets stronger and more noticeable in the next few weeks!!
@HazelEyes: So exciting all the reveals you got to do! I'm kinda jelly, but we're not finding out... And thanks for doing the list too!!
@Mamasig: Congrats on your girl too! Aren't the clothes just the best?
@sharpie: Yay for a boy! I'm kinda nervous if I have a boy, all I know is girl
Anatomy scan coming up next Friday, can't wait!! I think we'll bring DD with us too. TGIF and have a great weekend mamas!!

Been a bit MIA lately but have been trying to follow along! Congrats to all on the baby boys and girls. So exciting!
@Autumnmama79: We have our anatomy scan in a few weeks and I have such a strong feeling it's going to be a boy!
For the teacher bees out there: When did your students find out about your pregnancy? Did you share the news or did they just figure it out? At 17 weeks, I've been getting glances at my belly from my students. Awkward!
pear / 1703 posts
@atoz: so exciting about your scan! I've been getting a few glances from students but moreso from parents in the hallways & from other teachers. We're so close to break now I figure I'll be really showing when we come back in January and they can figure it out for themselves.

I have started to get sciatic pain I work in retail, so I am on my feet for 100% of my job. One of our friends is a physio, so I will be seeing her next week as it is making life hard. My bump is still so small, I didn't expect any pains this early.
We are starting to think of names, we are solid on one boy name. Ideally we want to go in with two names for each sex as we are , but we do not have a single girl's name we would love to use.
Has anyone looked at the chinese gender chart for this pregnancy? I know a lot are finding out sex now or soon, so it would be interesting to see if it is right!
Here is one I found via a google search, it was right with DS and DD. What is it predicting for you? I think you add a year to your age at conception, something to do with the baby being 1 year old at birth??? I think every website says something different LOL
persimmon / 1026 posts
@iheartleopardprint: That's awful with the pain. I'm having lower back pain earlier on this time so I bought a yoga/pilates DVD to see if it will help with stretching.
Haha that chart was wrong for my son and for this pregnancy!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@iheartleopardprint: That chart is always wrong for me! All three times wrong.
I've been having a bit of round ligament pain but not too bad. I've noticed I'm already swollen by the evening too. But overall not too bad compared to my 1 st pregnancy

We caved and did an elective ultrasound today to find out before Christmas. It's a boy!!
