@fitfigure87: I've never heard anterior placentas cause complications or make you bigger. I think if you're meant to be big, you will! I always get comments about how big I get. My OB gently told me - you are petite with a short torso, there is nowhere for the baby to go but out! I'm slightly jealous of tall girls who get a little bump.
I can't speak about the back labor because I had c sections.

@My Only Sunshine: I didn't take my diclegis for a couple of days, and I still had the morning sickness. Definitely not as bad as early on, but still there. As long as I'm on it, I'm ok!

@fitfigure87: With one pregnancy I had a posterior placenta and the other I had an anterior. This time it is posterior, too. I didn't have c sections, and it didn't affect the size of my bump at all.
I carried differently both times, but the second time I had ALOT of fluid retention with my blood pressure being so high. No correlation with the location of the placenta though. FWIW, I am a small frame as well

@Mamasig: Mymmidwives said the same thing! My first doctor in my first pregnancy said I was going to have an at least 9lb baby because I was so huge. I changed my model of care shortly after that, and mentioned it to my new OB and they laughed and said just what you said... Short torso= baby has no where to go but out and baby will not be over 7.5lb. He was right, 7.1lb baby.
So this time, being the third and final, I have zero cares about the size of my bump which ironically is the smallest of the three pregnancies. That probably means I will deliver a 9lb+ bub

@iheartleopardprint: Well, with my 1st pregnancy, huge did equal huge baby. I was ridiculously huge and swollen (September baby) and got pity looks from people everywhere I went. He was 10 lbs 9 oz. I wasn't as big with my 2nd baby and he was average size (7lbs 2 oz). We'll see this time. But honestly, as uncomfortable as I was, I preferred the big baby.

@Mamasig: It's crazy how pregnancies can be so different! Maybe this baby will be somewhere in the middle

@fitfigure87: I had an anterior placenta with my first and it had no effect on my labor and I didn't have a csection. I also am short and small but had a small baby and a small bump. The only thing it affected for me was feeling movement. It was probably 21 weeks before I felt more then a flutter. This time with a posterior placenta I was feeling flutters at 15 weeks and have been feeling full strong kicks since 18 weeks.

thank you to all of you who commented on the anterior placenta concern I did read up some more on it and from what you guys are saying I wont be worrying about it too much
Are any of you having issues with falling asleep!? I had two bad nights and maybe got three hours of sleep each night. Last night I took Benedryl bc I felt it was going to be the same story! I did end up sleeping and not sure if it was the benedryl or bc I was so tired from the previous night

@fitfigure87: I hear you on having trouble falling asleep! I've been tossing and turning like crazy and can't get comfortable. I bought a body pillow to use but it's so bulky and hot to sleep with it's just been making it worse... I guess this is preparing us for being up all night with a newborn, right?
grape / 79 posts
@csross217: YES! I bought a huge pregnancy pillow too and its a love/hate relationship I guess we just deal with it...it sucks bc it gives me anxiety when I feel like I cant sleep.
Does anyone know why it says "coffee bean" under my name lol...I never got why everyone has something under their name
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@fitfigure87: @csross217: I don't have problems falling asleep but I do wake up multiple times at night - for the bathroom, cause I'm hot, because my boys wake me up, because my legs are restless, etc. My pregnancy pillow has helped a lot but I still wake up.
Is anyone else having headaches? I get one almost every day. Tylenol clears it up, but it hits me every day. And I can't figure out a cause.

@fitfigure87: I've been falling asleep fine at first, but when I wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom it takes FOREVER to fall back asleep. I toss and turn for an hour or more before finally drifting off. It's definitely making me more exhausted during the day!
cherry / 201 posts
@Mamasig: I've been getting occasional headaches. My midwife said they might be tension headaches--I've found the only thing that clears them up is a neck rub from DH. She also mentioned that lack of water and not getting enough protein is a common cause.

@Mamasig: @Atoz: I am glad I'm not the only one who has sleeping issues. I was thinking maybe it was my anxiety getting the best of me but I can blame it on the pregnancy

@fitfigure87: I'll join the trouble falling asleep club. Or rather, trouble staying asleep. I sometimes wake up around 3 or 4 and then it takes forever for me to fall back asleep because I start thinking about stuff... And I'm on holidays right now so I'm really hoping to have some good sleeps!!

Hey ladies! I had an anatomy ultrasound today and baby boy looks good! We have to go back in 4 weeks because they weren't able to get a good image of the chambers of the heart and of the spine. I'm only 19 weeks which was right on the border of being too early to do it. Even though they said everything looked good and the follow-up is just to confirm measurements, it still makes me anxious! I actually had to do the same thing with my daughter. Plus side is I get one more peek at baby.
Has anyone started decorating yet? My sweet in-laws gave us an Amazon gift card for baby at Christmas so we bought a bunch of nursery and baby supplies but we haven't done anything with them yet other than put them in a big pile in our guest room.

@My Only Sunshine: I have my anatomy scan this avo, so excited to see Bub!
We have started the room, we have almost everything! Just need to paint some furniture and set it up properly. Feels so much more real with everything in the nursery.

@My Only Sunshine: With my son, I had to go back for a repeat ultrasound since they weren't able to see his stomach. Turns out I didn't eat enough so I made sure to pig out before the second ultrasound With this pregnancy, I was 19 weeks and I was in there for a good 30 min before they finally were able to get all the pictures of the heart chambers. That was the only thing they were waiting on for baby girl to stop moving so much haha!
I went shopping for crib sheets this weekend and picked up some paint samples. I think we are going to paint the room a very light pink and go with a cherry blossom theme. I feel so disorganized picking out stuff for the second kid!

Anatomy scan is on Wednesday! Super excited to see Nemo again.
We bought all the nursery furniture this past weekend and today we set up the dresser. Tomorrow we will be painting the closet, setting up the closet organizers and the crib. Hoping to have all furniture set up and ready before 35 weeks because I'm sure I won't finish if I want after that.

We painted (Behr Sparrow) and set up the crib over the weekend! We picked out the dresser/changing table we want, just need to order it. I also have some really cute prints that I need to frame. I think I'm going to wait to decorate the walls until I have more things to put up and know exactly where I want everything to go.

My anatomy scan is Monday. I can't wait to see baby girl. I've been feeling her move a lot which is reassuring.
We need to pick out a paint color for the room. She's using her brothers' furniture so I need to move his stuff out. I also picked up some things for the walls yesterday.
Almost half way there! Hope these next 20 weeks go by faster!

I'm hoping everyone who is on holiday break is enjoying it! We survived our flights to visit the grandparents and a week sharing a room with little man (ugh).
@fitfigure87: I had an anterior placenta with J, I had a perfectly fine vaginal birth with him. No back labor. The only difference is that you could feel movement/kicks a little later bc the placenta is "in the way" but I felt them right on time last time around. Also, I think the "coffee bean" refers to how many posts you've done (?) so it grows in size as you do more posts.
@Mamasig: yes to the headaches. So frustrating

I'm totally with you all in the no sleep club. So frustrating. I wake up to a sound or to flip over or because my arm fell asleep and start thinking about nonsense. Last time I was pregnant I used to get so so mad when people inevitably told me, "sleep now before the baby comes!" Thank you, I'll get right on that.

@My Only Sunshine: My nursery prep is super easy. It involves buying another crib and putting it in the room. Maybe a slight rearrange on the wall decor once cribs get moved around. DD2 will be in the bassinet in our room for the first couple weeks and then into the shared bedroom with DD1 (who is currently 16 months old).

@My Only Sunshine: yay for a good anatomy scan!
@ModernDayJibarita: good luck on your scan today!
I'm impressed with all the progress everyone has made on the nurseries! We finally got my massive treadmill moved out of the nursery and into the basement, so I guess it's time to start cleaning, painting, and decorating now!

@ohemgee: The hip pain is horrible! It wakes me up at least a few times a night, and then I can't find a comfortable position. Still struggling with using the body pillow, even though my OB said it would help.... it just takes up too much room in the bed!

Anatomy scam went great. Baby is healthy and growth is right on target We also found out we are having a baby BOY!!!
I'm super excited and hoping we can keep it a secret for 10 weeks (All of our family lives in Puerto Rico and they are hosting a SKYPE shower for us in March. We are planning to surprise them with the reveal during the shower)

@csross217: I tried pillows and nothing helps either! I don't have a body pillow because it takes too much space. I even tried using my boppy pillow in between my legs. Ugh I feel ya.

@ModernDayJibarita: congrats on the baby boy!!
So...I think I'm nesting?!? I woke up this morning and thought I'm going to paint the nursery today. I went and bought the stuff and painted that whole room including the trim and doors by myself! My husband is going to be very shocked when he gets home from work!!
(I should add that I NOT one of those that paints a room just bc it needs to be done. I have put off painting our guest rooms for about two years now bc I despise painting.)

Hi girls! Holidays are over and I'm finally back on a real computer so I thought I'd give a proper update. I started having some heavy bleeding and cramping on Christmas eve and so I went to the hospital and was admitted overnight. In addition to being terribly worried about what the heck was going on with baby, having to be in the hospital on Christmas morning nearly broke my heart. It is my favourite day of the year and I had been waiting for weeks to see the look on DD's face as she opened her stocking and presents. Instead, I listened to her open her stocking and gifts over the phone. Then her and DH came to the hospital with a few more gifts. We were finally able to go home that afternoon but I wasn't well enough to go to my mums for Christmas dinner. I had an internal check and an ultrasound, but doctors weren't able to determine where the bleeding came from. I continued spotting for several days until it finally stopped. Gah, I swear this pg has been one worrying thing after another!
