@tinyperson: What a sweet announcement! Your DD is beautiful and such a great smile

TGIF May mamas! Hope everyone is doing well. I'm feeling pretty good today, took yesterday off work which makes a ginormous difference in how I feel overall. We're getting ready for major upheaval at home though... we had a water leak and its gone through 50% of the house damaging the hardwood floors. Insurance will replace everything but it will take 8 weeks and we need to move out How am I supposed to nest?!?!? On the upside, insurance will also pay for all meals while we're out, so theres that. No dishes and no cooking!! It will be nice to have all new hardwood...but still.

    @tinyperson: cute announcement!!

    How is everyone doing?

I'm 26 weeks today and feeling the baby move around a lot which is reassuring :). I'm traveling for work tomorrow, not really looking forward to that, I'm pretty uncomfortable most days so I can only imagine an airplane is going to suck.

I've had bad back and hip pain the last few days, so I'm thinking about finding somewhere to go for a prenatal massage. I need a doctor's note for my insurance though, so I have to get that first.

Our nursery progress is very slow at this point... still need to get a second coat of paint of the walls before we do anything else!

@sslm: Happy 26 weeks mama! So great to be feeling baby move so often - finally some fun part of being pregnant I feel you on the back pain. I found a great spa that does prenatal massage and am going to go once a month. It is very relaxing and relieves the back pain like magic.

    Safe travels tomorrow!

    @tinyperson: cute announcement.

You really have to grandparents straight up! I gave my in-laws baby bibs to announce my 1st child that said best grandpa and best grandma and they didn't get it at all. They were like why are you giving us bibs on mother's day. LOL

@sslm: I have hip pain every night. I rotate so much. I haven't had time to book a prenatal massage. I should check if my insurance covers it like you are doing. Gotta save money somewhere.

I didn't even start our nursery. Everything is stored in the corner of the room. haha.

I'm 25 weeks and baby loves kicking me when I'm sleeping esp at 3 am and 7 am.

24 weeks and baby kicks all day long which is awesome. Unfortunately insomnia has crept back in and I'm entering the uncomfortable part of pregnancy with constant back/hip pain.

Nursery is almost done! Closet is done, all the furniture is assembled and ready and we finished the gallery wall this weekend. I'm ordering the rest of the decor details on Friday (curtains, pouf, decals) and we are building the ledge bookshelves this weekend. I had been dreaming of the nursery forever, so I started it early to make sure it got finished. If I would have felt it for much later it would have not gotten done. My first shower is at my house in a month, so I used that as a deadline to get most of it done.

Anyone had SPD in pregnancy before? We took LO to the aquarium on Saturday, and took the subway. We left around 8:30 and got home 2ish, and I was on my feet/walking for most of that time. By the time I got home, I could barely walk and it felt like I'd done a marathon thighmaster workout (pain right at the top of my inner thighs/groin area). I have an appt with my OB at the end of next week and I'll ask about it, but it was really bad - I had to lie down for the afternoon. It still twinges a bit now, but is mostly resolved.

@tinyperson: I've been feeling like I've been riding a bike for 26 weeks lately. It's pelvic pain, not tail bone pain. I meant to ask my midwife about it, googling tells me it could be SPD.

  13. tinyperson

    pomegranate / 3858 posts

@sslm: yeah, that's what it kinda feels like. I don't have the clicking or grinding that seems common in SPD though...

@tinyperson: no, me neither. Just aching pain. Let me know what your OB says! I'm not super worried about it because it's not excruciating, just really uncomfortable. I hope it doesn't get worse!

  15. tinyperson

    pomegranate / 3858 posts

@sslm: I will! I wasn't too worried either, because when I laid down it went away, and it's mostly gone at this point. We'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks. I may have just overdone it on Saturday. Thankfully, DH told me to go to bed and he looked after the 3yo for me!

@ModernDayJibarita: That sounds like great progress on the nursery! We're slowly working on ours - painted and have all the furniture put together, but need to work on some DIY decor projects and organize the closet.

Going in for my GD test this afternoon... hopefully it goes well... I've heard awful things about the 3 hour test!

I'm definitely starting to feel a lot of aches and pains, and am completely exhausted by late afternoon. I get out of breath just going up the stairs! I'm 26 weeks now, so I'm a little scared about how much worse it's going to get over the next 14 weeks!

    pear / 1703 posts

@csross217: Good luck with the GD test! Did you say 14 weeks?! We're almost there.

@tinyperson: Sorry about all the pain, I hope it doesn't last too much longer for you.

@csross217: Good luck today! I didn't think the GD test was as bad as I had been warned about. It's like really flat sweet pop.

I'm feeling you on the aches and pains. I've been having this deep pain in my right hip, it's making me crazy! I'm using a pregnancy pillow but it's not totally solving the problem.

After much back and forth, I decided to have a repeat c-section which will most likely be on May 14 unless little boy gets other ideas and comes early. Less than 15 weeks to go!

@My Only Sunshine: Yay for making a decision, I know its a tough one - thats pretty awesome What finally swayed you?

    kiwi / 554 posts

Well, my dr's office just called to say that they want to reschedule my GD test until I'm 28 weeks. Normally I wouldn't mind, but I've basically been fasting all morning at work and I'm starving!!! Time to run to the store for some snacks!

@Autumnmama79: I can't believe it's only 14 weeks either! Time is flying by!!

@My Only Sunshine: The hip pain is awful! I use my pillow occasionally, but it doesn't seem to be helping much and makes me sweat like crazy

  21. Autumnmama79

    pear / 1703 posts

@csross217: Bummer! Did they say why they want to reschedule? My dr said to go do it anytime between 24 & 28 weeks - I thought I'll go the sooner the better before I gain even more weight... but I'm already at 26 weeks and I'd estimate I've gained 50 pounds already

  22. csross217

    kiwi / 554 posts

@Autumnmama79: The secretary just said that the doctor would rather do it closer to 28 weeks... I still have a regular appointment this afternoon so I'm going to ask her about it then... oh well!

Good luck to all you Mamas getting your Gd test.

With DS I got my Gd test at 25 weeks but this time my ob said 28 wks. He said 28 wks is better because any earlier and there's a higher chance of a false negative which he doesn't want.

Well I'm waiting to see the triage nurse 😕. The pelvic pain/round ligament pain has been fairly relentless every day. I could barely walk yesterday any time I got up from my desk at home. I don't think it's anything serious, but wanted to get checked out and can't see my OB till next week.

  25. csross217

    kiwi / 554 posts

@tinyperson: Oh no! Good luck at your appointment, I hope you're able to find some relief!!

  26. tinyperson

    pomegranate / 3858 posts

@csross217: thanks ...I'm less looking for relief and more just want to know that everything's ok!

  27. Autumnmama79

    pear / 1703 posts

@tinyperson: Oh no! Glad you;re getting it checked out. At my last dr appt she mentioned that I could see an osteopath if my back pain was becoming unmanageable.

Apparently they are not quite as common here as they are in australia and the UK, but many of her patients found great relief from their treatment.

Let us know how it turns out today!

  28. tinyperson

    pomegranate / 3858 posts

@Autumnmama79: Round ligament pain for the win! OB said some people just get it worse than others. Tylenol may or may not help, and I just have to take it easy...easier said than done!

  29. csross217

    kiwi / 554 posts

@tinyperson: Well I'm glad to hear everything's ok at least! It seems like my doctor's recommendation for everything these days is take it easy and drink more water lol

    persimmon / 1129 posts

@tinyperson: Glad you got checked out and it's nothing serious, but round ligament pain sucks! I had it terribly with my daughter. I actually went to the ER for it once because the pain was so bad I thought surely something was very very wrong. But nope, just my dumb ligaments. I found prenatal yoga to be helpful! Weirdly, I don't have it nearly as bad this time around.

@Autumnmama79: I was kind of leaning towards a repeat c-section, and then I had a talk with a good friend who's a doctor who encouraged me to go with my gut and said she would do the same thing . My first baby was a planned c-section and the whole experience was pleasant and recovery wasn't that bad, so I feel like I know what to expect.

  31. Autumnmama79

    pear / 1703 posts

@tinyperson: Phew! Glad thats all it is. But I agree, really hard to take it easy if you have an LO already at home. Will you be able to get some rest this weekend?

@My Only Sunshine: When you say that the experience was pleasant and recovery wasn't that bad and you know what to expect, that really resonates with me! Part of me knows that if I were to have a repeat C, I would be able to feel more in control and would likely have less anxiety about my impending labour. Its a hard decision! I still wonder if a vbac is the right choice for me.

Happy February May mommas!!! 3 months to go until its our month

Another busy weekend of preparing to move/moving (we had a leak and are getting new floors). We are in the new, temporary apt and it has a fantastic pool! Finally an activity that I can fully participate with DD. I told DH though that after this weekend I really need to start taking it easy, I've just been doing too much in prep for being out of our place for 8 weeks...

Today is my GD test at 1:30, sooooo I just had an entire cucumber for lunch lol. Hoping I pass!

@Autumnmama79: Yay for a pool! I wish we could go swimming more often. DH has been taking LO skating once a week (her first year going), and she loves it, but I don't feel super comfortable doing it.

    on your test!

@Autumnmama79: OMG, only 3 months!? Ahhh! And good luck with your GD test. Still waiting on the results from mine.

How is everyone (especially first time mommas) doing with the registry/getting a list of all the stuff you'll need? I had major stuff done pretty early (stroller, carseat, crib) but just this weekend kicked into high gear for everything else. Feeling better now that a few more decisions are made and the registry is shaping up!

Last topic: I need to keep the random fears of something going wrong at bay. I didn't feel this way in the first tri, but now that I can feel the kiddo and we're closer to delivery, I'm so much more nervous about how s/he is doing in there.

  35. ModernDayJibarita

    apricot / 259 posts

@YogiRunner: All nursery furniture has been purchased/assembled and my registry was done early ( My shower is in 3 weeks and I was asked for it over the holidays) 11/67 items purchased so far!

Dito on the random fears. Every few hours I realize that I haven't felt him moved a freak out until he finally moves. Keep reminding myself that I'm doing everything I can to keep him safe and if anything happens I can't control it. I'll probably feel this way until he gets married

I have a question for the May mommas!

DH and I are planning an overnight stay at a hotel/spa to pamper ourselves a little before baby comes. I was thinking of making the reservation at the beginning of April, and I'll be 36 weeks. Is that too close to my due date?? What does everyone think? The hotel is only about 45 minutes from our house, so we'd be close if anything were to happen.

@sslm: @Autumnmama79: I'll go ahead and book it then! DH was worried about it being close to my due date and what if baby came early, etc. I told him not to worry so much since first babies are rarely on time lol
