@jh524: Thanks mama! Your time is coming so soon, I've been watching the April threads - its getting exciting. My first was born April 7th, spring really is the best time to have a baby
Good luck with your L & D!

@Baby Boy Mom: Our baby list contains packing hospital bag, installing car seat, finish up some of our cloth diapering supplies, getting a pediatrician, and getting a breast pump. I wish I could say I'm doing freezer meals, but unless I go down to part time at work, I'm not imagining having the energy. I think we will pick up some frozen meals from Costco beforehand to hold us over, though.

@Autumnmama79: thank you!! Yes, the April babies are starting to come I think April and May are the best months to have babies
I'm a May baby myself

@HazelEyes: Big boy bed is exciting! We just got our kids beds too! (previously mattress on the floor). So far, so good...
@rockinghorse: Oh, good ideas- adding to my list:
pack hospital bag, and actually a hospital visit would be nice since I've never been there
check on our cloth diapers- probably do a bleach/vinegar cycle and might need to replace elastic on some
re:the meals- I have no real extra time to devote to it, but starting this week I'm going to try to double the meals I do make and freeze half. I know for us it will be very necessary since we don't have family around to help with that.

@My Only Sunshine: Ya, I'm going to be 39 weeks at the end of April, so it's crunch time. Unfortunately I also have a really busy two weeks coming up and then the kids have spring break which usually means I get nothing done other than the bare minimum.
@csross217: I was just going to mention re: how to use baby gear...youtube. Seriously, everything is on there!

@sslm: Good idea about bringing baby to a store that carries the Moby! I'll have to try that!
@Baby Boy Mom: I tried watching the Moby video on youtube and think I kind of got the hang of it.... or, I got a stuffed animal wrapped up in it pretty well and it kinda looked right!
@TrailRunner: "Im not ready to squeeze a watermelon out of a small hole and then promptly care for it!" OMG yes! Though at this point I'm more worried about the "care for it" part.... I've watched so many birth videos that part of me is like bring it on, but I'm absolutely terrified to think that the hospital will let DH and I bring home a helpless little creature and expect us to know what to do with it!!

@Baby Boy Mom: Gosh thats gonna be tough having the kids home when you're so close to the end! Any chance they could go to some kind of spring break camp for a few hours each day?
@csross217: You and DH are going to do a great job caring for your little babe! Somehow it all just comes to you and all these crazy instincts take over

Yesterday at my OB appt I asked for a note for work, next Wednesday will be my last day!!! Plan to wash the new baby clothes, plan/prep for DD's 7th birthday and hopefully lay out in the sun if the weather cooperates! Oh and its weekly appointments from here on out

You guys I've been having awful Braxton Hicks today! So bad they're making me nauseous and my husband is freaked out I'm about to have the baby. Only 33 weeks so let's hope little man stays put! How's everyone else feeling?

So it's the morning of my shower and I've got a terrible cold. Very stuffed up and hacking cough... Any tricks to feel and look human for a few hours? I know I can't take DayQuil
@csross217: I know you battled a cold recently so looking at you!

Update on my crazy Braxton hicks- turns out I have a UTI. Just picked up antibiotics, so I'm hoping to feel better soon!
@YogiRunner: Neti pot is a lifesaver. My doctor OKed Sudafed, Tylenol, and Afrin spray. Hope you feel better!
kiwi / 554 posts
@Autumnmama79: I hope you're right about my instincts taking over! I've always been a super type-a planner, so the last few weeks have been hard for me! DH is really relaxed at least and knows things will just fall into place.
@YogiRunner: I wish I had some good advice for you! I mostly just suffered through mine. I did take zinc lozenges right from the beginning and I think that helped lessen my symptoms some. I hope you feel better soon!!!!
cherry / 215 posts
@Autumnmama79: I got a note as well! Mine is to cut down to four 8 hour shifts with Wednesdays off. It will be way, way more manageable that way.
@My Only Sunshine: I have also been having some intense Braxton Hicks! They don't hurt, but are strangely uncomfortable. They happen especially if I push it too much at work or don't drink enough. I think cutting back my hours will help.
I'm excited to have another sizing ultrasound tomorrow! Mainly because we get to look at her little face on the 3D ultrasound again! She was in the 95% percentile last time, hopefully that hasn't gone up much! We also have our last birthing class tomorrow through the hospital where we are learning basic baby care. I'm really excited for that too! I just want her to be here already!!!

@My Only Sunshine: Sorry about the uti! Better now then when you're in labour I suppose
@YogiRunner: How was your shower?! Hope your cold has gone away.
@rockinghorse: Yay for cutting down your hours! Work is just becoming unbearable these days... two more to go for me!! How was your ultrasound? '
Yesterday my MIL came over and asked, wasn't the doctor monitoring my weight and shouldn't I have only gained a certain amount? Then she added that I really should be out walking or exercising. Ya sorry lady but my feet are so damn swollen I've been in flip flops for weeks and can manage to walk all of 7 minutes before my feet start killing and the round ligament pain kicks in hardcore. BUT THANKS FOR THE TIP!
Lucky for her I literally pretended she didn't say anything and completely ignored what she said.

@Autumnmama79: omg! How rude!!! I would've lost it.
My ultrasound is tomorrow so my day has felt soooooo long. I'm almost done at work and then I am off to pick up our brand new (to us) mini-van! Ha. We're a minivan family now... and hilariously I just signed my 3yo up for soccer so I guess I really am a soccer mom
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
@Autumnmama79: Also wanted to add I feel you on the swelling. I have cankles. My feet barely fit into any of my shoes and my hands look like clown hands. It's insane. And nothing makes it any better!!! I had the same issue with my first. No blood pressure issues or anything though, thank god.
pear / 1703 posts
@sslm: I knew that if I opened my mouth in response to her I would've either cried or said something rude, so I just kept it closed.
Yay for ultrasound! Is it to measure growth? And fun times picking up a minivan, I bet it'll be super practical and easy to get baby in and out. Glad I'm not the only one with blow-up doll hands and feet. SO hideous.
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
@Autumnmama79: it's to check whether or not baby boy is breech. I'm nervous! If he is then it will start a whole new conversation and a whole bunch of extra appointments :S
persimmon / 1129 posts
@Autumnmama79: So rude! Ignoring is the way to go. MILs seem to particularly know how to push buttons - mine keeps rubbing my stomach every time I see her.
@sslm: Jealous of your minivan! We're strongly considering a minivan or third row SUV when we're done with my car.
We got a surgery date for my repeat c-section. Baby is coming 5/14 unless he makes an early appearance.
kiwi / 585 posts
@YogiRunner: ugh sorry about your cold. I hope it goes away quickly and I hope you enjoyed your shower!
@My Only Sunshine: oh man...UTIs are the worst. I hope the antibiotics clear it up quickly!
@rockinghorse: I hope your ultrasound went well today! We didn't get any 3D ultrasounds...I kept hoping my OB would offer
@sslm: exciting that you got a new van! I am dying for a suv, but we have to finish paying off my husband's car before I can get anything so for now just driving my old sedan! Good luck with your ultrasound...I hope he isn't breech!
@Autumnmama79: what a bia. My MIL said something along the lines of "I knew you would carry all in your hips like me." She's like the sweetest person ever and meant no harm by it, but it took everything I had not to cry. My hands and feet are also super swollen too, and since I have high BP I'm banned from exercise including my walks (which was the only thing that kept the swelling at bay). Ugh. One month left...

Well the ultrasound was a bust. Not only did we find out that the baby is now in the 98th percentile (97 or greater is considered macrosomic), but she had her face all cuddled up against the placenta so we didn't get any cute pics! So they are estimating her weight at 7lbs 12oz and I am at 36 weeks tomorrow. Since I am not diabetic, they think it is just because my hubby is so big, and was over 10lbs when he was born. I talked to my OB after, and she said we don't need to talk about a c-section until she is 4500 grams.
I swear, once I hit 37 weeks I am doing all the old wives tale stuff and getting her going!

@csross217: awesome on the moby! I think I originally just did it with the little printed instructions so you are ahead of the game for sure.
@Autumnmama79: Camp is around $90/day per kid...so no camp for us. We are just going to play it by ear- some activities combined with lots of at home crafting and hope DH is available to help some of the time.
Your MIL....ahhhh! My ILs are also visiting and I am in the smile and nod camp. Normally we get along great but I just can't even...
@My Only Sunshine: Aw man, hope you are feeling better!
@sslm: So great on the mini-van front! I'm jealous (even though we barely even use the one car we have, but I dream of the day...and full disclosure I'm also kind of dreading trying to fit 3 seats in the back of ours)
In other news, I am officially both nauseous and hungry all day. Thought of the evening- is there anything in the house I can put butter on? The three year old keeps telling me my belly is going to explode (it does feel like it) and tonight asked me why baby wasn't here yet.

Ugh. I have the stomach flu that DH had last week. And I have GD so I need to put in a call to the dietician to see what I can have.

Baby is head down!!!!! Such a relief. Now we wait...
@tinyperson: oh jeez. That sucks so bad

@TrailRunner: Sorry you're a swollen preggo too. I miss my shoes and my rings!
@rockinghorse: Baby is already over 7 pounds?! OMG. What old wives tales do you think you'll try?
@Baby Boy Mom: Sending you strength and patience during spring break! That is really, really expensive I'm feeling nauseas again too, weird. Since about 20 weeks my DD has been asking why the baby is taking so long and can it come out already? lol
@tinyperson: No! Crackers and toast? Hope it is short lived for you.
@sslm: YAY! Babe is in position and ready to go
Today I am 36 weeks!!! Holy mama thats crazy.

I am still totally out of it but have been trying to keep up with the thread to see how you all are doing! Sounds like braxton hicks and swelling are a real 3rd tri PITA for a lot of us. Then with in laws testing our patience... I am right there with you! Sooo excited to meet this little bub though, organizing everything after the shower this weekend made it so real and exciting.
Sorry to not respond and "catch up" to all of you individually! I'm still pretty mis but the shower was still a really lovely and special and I'm finally feeling "ready" and prepared for the little one's arrival!
pear / 1703 posts
@YogiRunner: Happy to hear your shower was so lovely and a good send off into motherhood
(And I think people like to hear how everyones doing more than they expect replies anyways, just nice to hear how our comrades are progressing )

@Baby Boy Mom: Ugh, I'm feeling nauseous too! And it's combined with constant heartburn which makes it worse. I've found that I'm super hungry first thing in the morning, and then basically have to force myself to eat during the rest of the day....
@sslm: Glad to hear baby is head down!!!
@YogiRunner: It's awesome that you're feeling prepared and had a great shower. Only a few more weeks!
cherry / 215 posts
@Autumnmama79: I'm thinking about trying raspberry leaf tea, breast simulation, and I may even do some perineal massage to prevent tearing, but I have to talk myself into it.
Anyone know of anything else to try to get labor started?
kiwi / 554 posts
In other news, I had my GBS test yesterday (not as bad as I thought it would be) and should have the results in a few days. Baby girl is still head down and isn't engaged yet at all. - my cervix is closed up tight
As uncomfortable as I am now at 36 weeks, I can't help but want her to stay put a little while longer since I feel like I have so much left to do!!
pear / 1703 posts
@csross217: I could've written your last sentence! Please stay in baby! As we're STILL waiting for the renos to be completed in our home, this morning DH is like, "cross your legs" LOL.
kiwi / 554 posts
@Autumnmama79: Everyone keeps asking me if I'm anxious and ready for baby to be here already... It's like nope, I need a few more weeks please!!
pomegranate / 3983 posts
@Autumnmama79: Since 20 wks? jeez! We've been reading "What baby needs" and the little guy is obsessed. On the other hand he won't go to sleep without me and "warns" me that if I go to my bed he's going to come too...and then sure enough he does.
@tinyperson: Such a bummer! feel better soon!!!
@sslm: awesome!
@csross217: Same! The only thing that helps is that on days I'm home I've been grazing so that I never get full.
Also my to do list is still really long, which tells me there's still time. I think I went into labor both times on the day I decided to tackle the last couple items on the list!
@rockinghorse: My doula last time suggested sex. Also, if you're really desperate- castor oil. Although it basically gives you diarrhea...you can search some old threads on here.

@Baby Boy Mom: thanks! Although neither one of those sounds very good right now

So I was taken off bedrest yesterday because I'm 36 weeks, which was exciting! But then I immediately lost my mucus plug and now am having what I think is my bloody show (lots of spotting anyway)... I know all of that could mean nothing, but as a second time mom I'm thinking it could mean things will start up soon?
I'm not ready!
pomegranate / 3858 posts
@sslm: @Autumnmama79: @Baby Boy Mom: Thanks - I'm finally able to eat bread today...I've been subsisting on ginger ale and water till now. Yesterday, intense heartburn joined in the fun -- but I think I'm past the worst of it!
@sharpie: Sounds exciting and promising!!

I was right! LO was born right around midnight last night via RCS, after my water broke at bedtime.
Earlier in the day I was quite sure I was in labor, but L&D sent me home as having "normal BH contraction patterns for 36 weeks". To be fair, I was still barely dilated, but I had a feeling it was the real thing.
