@keepcalmcarrie: Ugh, SO SORRY, lady! Feel better!!

@ValentineMommy: Thanks for checking on me. I slept really poorly last night, but I'm feeling a bit better this morning. I'm trying to chug my daily green smoothie--because if this "evening sickness" keeps up, the spinach/kale in that might be the only veggies I'm eating for a while. Yikes.

@mfa_lady: I had a serious aversion to anything green with my first pregnancy. Hopefully it gets better for you!!

@Kelli_Deluxe: hope your doctor's office can switch your appointment!

@keepcalmcarrie: sorry about the nausea! Not a fun way to end your anniversary night

@Pumuckl: F/G? Eek! Hopefully mine don't get any bigger than that! I do have some bigger bras from when I was heavier, so hopefully those will hold me over for a few months.

@ValentineMommy: Hope you're not getting carpal tunnel! I already have carpal/cubital tunnel wrist issues (managed as long as a wear a wrist brace when I'm on the computer), and it's no fun!
Hope you're able to keep yourself occupied until your appointment tomorrow!

@Oliviapope: Time is dragging for me too! Three weeks until my first appointment; I feel like it's never going to get here.

@Oliviapope: I just found out that the hospital offers classes once a week Registering ASAP. I usually do my own practice and avoid things like closed twists, lying on the stomach, etc. There are some great practices on Youtube, believe it or not!

@mfa_lady: Was nauseous all night as well. Started around 9 and didn't let up until a couple of minutes ago. Hope today is better for you!

@namaste: Thanks for checking in, friend. I'm feeling better this morning but dreading what starts at that 8PM hour already!

@ValentineMommy: I'm so excited for you that your appointment is tomorrow! I'm sure even getting through one day still takes forever.

Also, I am so confused about appointments. What happens if there's no u/s ( for a first appt)? @sorrycharlie - I'm not sure what will happen at mine. Think I will be 6 or 7 weeks (weird cycles) - the receptionist said the first appt is between 6 and 10 weeks and purpose is to "establish" my pregnancy. So do you think it would just be a pregnancy test?

@mfa_lady: I'm impressed you're still trying to get your greens in. I tried adding baby kale to my smoothie, but it was too chunky. I use a cuisinart immersion blender that's usually pretty good. I do have a regular blender from my wedding that I have never opened lol - maybe it's time to try that. Hope your m/s gets better.

@namaste: the classes sound great, that's exciting! I will look on YouTube for some videos too!

@Oliviapope: My parents gave us a Vitamix for Christmas, and I think it's going to be my saving grace! It blends frozen stuff like you wouldn't believe...which I didn't know would be so useful once I got pregnant and feel like gagging when I see vegetables.

As for your first appointment, I think there are a couple of options. At my practice, if you're seeing the midwives (I do), at your first appointment you take a urine pregnancy test, get a brief vaginal exam, talk to the midwife and get a bunch of papers about pregnancy (don't smoke, don't drink, don't take dangerous meds, etc). At that appointment, they schedule your second appointment and first ultrasound. The only reason I get an ultrasound first this time is because of my missed MC in the fall.

If you're at my practice and NOT seeing the midwives, though, they bring you in and do a "confirmation" appointment which includes a transvaginal dating ultrasound. It sounds like your practice could go either way. Good luck!!

I feel like such an idiot. and so frustrated. we don't have a ton of money but we can afford a carseat. however,

up until feb, DH was one and done! so I gave our infant seat to my cousin (who had nothing). thinking "it expires 9/15, I'll never have a baby by Jan 15, so I can't use it anyway". she then got a travelsystem at her shower. and her adopted mom (my mom's cousin) was like "i'll keep it i need a seat for my car!!!!". even though you can put an infant seat in ANY CAR.

well..now what? should I ask my aunt for it back? haha. or pay $144 for another seat..ugh. so frustrating. I'm hoping once we come "out" they'll just offer it back..

@Oliviapope: my first appointment with DD1 (and will be this time, too) was 8 weeks with the nurse practitioner. It was mainly information gathering, a slip for blood work, and I got a goody bag of information, magazines etc appt #2 with the OBGYN was at 10 weeks, included a pelvic and a transvaginal dating us much more fun!

  10. ValentineMommy

    pomelo / 5791 posts

@Oliviapope: I am seriously counting the minutes. My appt isn't until 11am, which feels SOOOO late! If I remember correctly, my first appt with my DS was just what you're describing. It's to "establish" pregnancy. I believe they do a blood test, pee test, and a pap smear if you are anywhere near due for one. Sadly, no u/s for me

  11. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@sorrycharlie: Aw, man! That car seat situation is the worst. If they don't offer to give it back, will you have a shower for baby #2? If you have one, could you register for it?

  12. ValentineMommy

    pomelo / 5791 posts

@sorrycharlie: Aw man, that stinks! Could you have someone else ask for it back, maybe your mom?

  13. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@mfa_lady: definitely no shower for #2 - not really common around here we need that, a double stroller, and obviously clothes/sheets/blankets if a boy! so hopefully family will gift us giftcards..perhaps Christmas being right beforehand will be good, I can ask for amazon gift cards and diapers lol.

  14. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@ValentineMommy: I'm partly hoping they'll just offer it up! I feel weird asking for it back.. plus, I'm leaning toward the britax b agile double, and was thinking of buying a britax seat for that stroller.

  15. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@sorrycharlie: Yes, didn't even think about how convenient Christmas will be. Haha! I wondered about the second shower--I live in Virginia and people here don't hesitate to throw a shindig for baby number two--but I know in lots of places it's really not cool. I hope they will just give it back to you!!

  16. ValentineMommy

    pomelo / 5791 posts

@sorrycharlie: I would think they would offer it up. At least, I would, especially because it's not their main one, you know??

  17. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@sorrycharlie: I'd ask for it back. Especially because they're not using it as their main stroller. If they don't offer I'd be shocked.

  18. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@sorrycharlie: oh no, I would just jokingly tell them you now need your carseat back when telling them about pregnancy #2. Maybe they get the hint. You can then still see from there.

@ValentineMommy: @charmed: @Oliviapope: time is not my friend currently. On the one hand time goes by sooooo slowly and on the other hand I never seem to get anything done cause the work day passes so quickly and it just stresses me out.

My ob/gyn does a u/s at 5-6w to make sure emby is in utero (or basically rule out ectopic) and then a dating u/s at 8-9w.

  19. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@sorrycharlie: Depending on the personality of the family you gave the carseat to, @Pumuckl's idea could work! When you announce, say "So...I guess we'll be needing that carseat back!" In a fun, jokey way. Maybe?

    @sorrycharlie: & @namaste: Congratulation ladies, and welcome

Sorry to hear a few of you are already having sickness I feel rough at night and in the morning but am hopeful it won't be as bad as last time.

I'm so jealous of everyone's bigger boobs! I have small boobs to start with but breastfeeding wrecked them. I'm hoping pregnancy hormones will give them a second life soon!

  21. keepcalmcarrie

    persimmon / 1096 posts

@sorrycharlie: I would hope they'd offer it back after you share your news! If not, maybe your mom could give your aunt a gentle nudge.

@travelgirl1: with you here in the small boobs. Mine got sore, and have mayyybe returned to pre-BF size (like, a B cup, woohoo!) but the only time I've ever had big boobs was when my milk came in, I felt like a rock star

No more bad nausea today. I seem to feel incredibly sick if I wake up overnight. LO has a little cold, so that explains the interrupted sleep, but I'm praying he just "sleeps it off" tonight.

In other news, I am suddenly a pizza face. Anyone else?

  22. Oliviapope

    cherry / 243 posts

@mfa_lady: Ooooh I have a vitamix on my mind! My best friend got one when her LO was born - she loves making both smoothies and baby food in it, and says it was the best purchase. I think that must be the key to having green smoothies - if it blends it up so well.

@mfa_lady: @sorrycharlie: @ValentineMommy: @Pumuckl: thanks for the info on the first appointment. I think part of what's hard about all this is just not knowing what it's going to be like. I'm working on letting go and just trying to enjoy the ride. It's helpful though to hear what the appointments are like so I have a little bit of a sense of what might happen.

@ValentineMommy: good luck today at your appt!

@sorrycharlie: you'll have to keep us posted on the car seat. if i were in your aunt's position, the minute i found out you were pregnant, i'd offer the seat back - i hope she does that.

  23. Oliviapope

    cherry / 243 posts

@travelgirl1: mine aren't so much bigger as more tender/painful? but even that comes and goes. and of course before i got my bfp i bought a few new bras, which I love, but i'm worried i wasted my $.

@keepcalmcarrie: i can feel that my skin seems more oily ,but not too many breakouts yet - all of these lovely symptoms to look forward to

does anyone else notice a difference in mood during day vs night? I've always had high anxiety round the clock, but it's always worse at night. I started Lexapro (for PPA, 15 months after her birth..ugh.) in January, and weaned off in April in prep for ttc. I don't know if it's normal hormones, my anxiety rearing its head again, or what but I had a complete sobbing breakdown last night!!

so embarrassing. I actually got out of bed and went into the bathroom because I wasn't sure if DH was asleep yet or not and didn't want to have to explain it to him. I was crying about, "what did I do?" worried about DD, how life will change, fear of being ready for two. then of course I felt guilty for being upset. I am so exhausted today..only a couple hours of sleep, and painful swollen eyes!

@travelgirl1: SAME! my whole family has like, DD, and here I am with my barely-Bs. they didn't grow during my last pregnancy, so here's hoping!

@keepcalmcarrie: I have always had acne mainly on my chin, no idea why..I don't lean on my chin or even use the phone on that side of my face. I'm going to ask my dr what I can use topically..I use cetaphil for wash. if it helps, after I delivered my DD, I swear my skin had never been more clear! it was so bizarre. about 3 weeks before I had her til several months after her birth.

@Oliviapope: I kind of hope she does, but my DH thinks we should just leave it alone and buy a new one - especially if we do go with a britax stroller, we can get one that'll easily click right in. haven't decided on a double stroller yet!

@sorrycharlie: agree with the others; jokingly mention you'll need the seat back and hopefully they'll give it up!

@travelgirl1: I'd share some of my extra boobs with you if I could! Seriously, they are smothering me already!

@keepcalmcarrie: My skin on my face is ok, but my back has been breaking out Glad your nausea is better though!

  26. namaste

    persimmon / 1313 posts

@travelgirl1: I would also gladly donate you some of these knockers!

@sorrycharlie: No difference in mood for me. I've only had one crying spell in the car the other day for absolutely no reason. So sorry you're dealing with anxiety.

I hope you ladies are having a much more pleasant Friday than I am. Spent the entire night on and off again getting sick in the bathroom, not even keeping water down. So I'm trying ginger tea and hopefully it will stay. TGIF?

  27. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@Oliviapope: Seriously, it would be the best money you ever spent. I make a smoothie just about every morning (even though this morning it's kind of grossing me out) and when I make hummus in it, it literally takes longer to open the cans of chickpeas and dump them in that it does to blend it up. Go for it!

@sorrycharlie: I'm sorry you're experiencing anxiety, lady. I have been pretty moody but I can't tell a stark difference between one time of day or another.

I felt a lot better last night than I felt the couple of nights before, but this morning I feel soooo icky. It's the weirdest thing...I don't even know if I'd call what I feel "nausea"--it's more like weakness/sometimes dizziness/overall icky feeling. There's my very official medical description of the day. Ha! No matter what I call it, it's rough. I feel like a zombie. My supervisors are NOT going to be surprised whenever I tell them I'm pregnant....I think they'll be glad I haven't just randomly turned into a sick, grumpy person for no reason.

@ValentineMommy: good luck at your appointment!

@Oliviapope: it varies with the practice, but at my first appointment, my doctor did a pelvic exam, took culture for std's, and blood work for a bunch of labs and hcg. I also did a pee test. My doctor was nice enough to give me a referral for US so I was able to get it that day but a lot of times they don't do US until after 8 weeks...

My nausea comes in waves but at least I'm not actually throwing up.. Also have been getting constipated... No fun I bought since prune juice but I hate the way it tastes...

Hi, everyone! I've been lurking on this thread for the last few days, and I finally got around to setting up an incognito user name. I'm a regular HBer, but I need to go undercover for a few weeks until we announce to a few people that know about HB. I'm so excited to join all of you. It's a little surreal to be on a due date thread again.

EDD: January 18 is my best guess. We'll see after our u/s.

When did you find out: One week ago today

How do you feel?: Physically, pretty good: a few bouts of nausea but no vomiting yet(!), and like some of you, I'm having some trouble with sleep. I keep waking up at 3 something coughing because I stopped taking my allergy meds and then my minds starts moving and I can't get to sleep. Emotionally, I'm doing really well. This pregnancy was a surprise, so it took a few days to get over feeling a little overwhelmed, but we're thrilled to have another baby so I'm just really happy overall.

    Child #: 3

What type of provider will you see?/What type of birth do you want to have?: Right now I'm seeing the same OB I used for my last pregnancy. We're moving mid-pregnancy, so I'm not sure who I'll use then. I really want to try for a VBAC, so I'm going to try to find an OB who will be supportive of that, and if I get a lot of push back, I might consider the one midwife in the area we are moving.

When is your first appointment?: I had my first appointment Tuesday, but it was just with the nurse to establish the pregnancy, do blood work, etc. My ultrasound is June 9, and my next appt will be with my OB's nurse practitioner later that week.

What are you most excited about?: I'm excited about newborn snuggles, seeing my kids with their new baby brother or sister, and hopefully having a more "normal" pregnancy and delivery this time around.

What are you scared/nervous about?: Parenting a lot of really young kids at one time. Also, my last pregnancy was pretty rough, and I'm nervous about what this one will be like. I'm also nervous about delivery/post-delivery. I just want to have a healthy baby and take him or her home right away!

P.S. I'm also super psyched about being pregnant over Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love getting to "eat for two" during the holidays!

Hi Ladies - I think it's time I join this thread! I've been nervous to join, but I feel like after multiple clear and the weeks predictor on digital, it's probably safe to join! YAY!

    EDD: January 21
When did you find out: faint line on FRER 2 days ago, strong line yesterday and 1-2 weeks digital confirmation last night!
How do you feel?: So, so happy and excited! Can't wait!
    Child #: 1
What type of provider will you see?/What type of birth do you want to have?: OB. Hopefully as med-free as possible (see above re: child #1 and I really have no idea what I'm talking about yet!). Haven't met her yet but a few friends used her and she seems great. Really like the people I've spoken to on the phone.
When is your first appointment?: May 30!
What are you most excited about?: DH as a dad, a grandchild for my parents - they will be so cute and excited. Seeing my dog (she looooooves babies and kids! golden retriever!) with the new sibling..
What are you scared/nervous about?: Miscarriage - had a CP recently. This one is already pretty different though. Hopefully all goes OK!

I will be ALL ears for advice from you lovely ladies. I'm pretty clueless and haven't shared with any IRL friends yet to get their advice - I think will wait til after 5/30 appt to see how things are going before sharing with a couple of v close friends.

Anyone other second or third time moms repeatedly just completely forgetting they are pregnant this time around?

It's crazy, when I was pregnant with #1 it was all I thought about every single day for 9 months. For this pregnancy, I have been out to dinner a few times in the past couple of weeks and have been *thisclose* to ordering a glass of wine before remembering I'm preggo!
