@charmed: Yes! So when you have u/s you already know that something might be wrong when the baby doesn't measure exactly as you know it should be. Things we worry about!
I heard that it's normal for symptoms to change and there was a thread about symptoms disappearing around 6 weeks being normal.
GL on your u/s this week!

@namaste: I hope you get some good night sleep soon!
Congrats to your cousin and sorry to hear about your other cousin. I think whenever you decide to share the news, everyone will be happy for you. It's hard not to over think these things though.

@mfa_lady: It was just a crazy, bizarre weekend. I'm sure they'll be excited! Just waiting for things to settle a bit I think!
@Radish: Agreed! The more I wait, the more I think they might be annoyed for not saying anything sooner. :X
@Pumuckl: It is bizarre but it isn't the first time something has happened like this in my family. Still so much to process! Thank you
@sorrycharlie: Isn't living out of state tough? Sigh! Hopefully you can share with your family soon as well.
@Raindrop: I get so over-sensitive to other's needs. I've always been the "care-taker" type but these things will figure themselves out I think.
Preggie pops have arrived in the mail!
persimmon / 1177 posts
@Raindrop: @Snowdrop: thanks!
I know I'm worrying too much about everything, but I've never done this before!
@namaste: Yay for preggie pops!! Hope you're able to get better sleep tonight.
DH's best friend is in town for two days, and DH really wants to tell him we're expecting (he only gets to see this friend once or twice a year). Problem is, we're afraid the best friend won't be able to keep it a secret from his girlfriend, and she is a huge gossip (and has a lot of the same friends as we do).
So DH is totally bummed- I think it's even harder b/c his parents live out of town too so we couldn't tell them in person either. I have a feeling he's going to start telling strangers I'm pregnant once I give him the ok to announce
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@charmed: That is super cute he's so excited!
I already told 4 people (a couple that just had a baby that I was visiting, a co-worker and my pen pal) because I was kind of put in a corner... a few people knew we were trying and so they ask once in a blue moon if we are KU yet and these people happened to ask during these last 2 weeks. I am a terrible liar! So I told them the truth with the note that miscarrying is common and could still happen to me. I told DH it happened and DH just shook his head at me.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@charmed: Awww!! That's awesome that your husband is so excited!
@Raindrop: I've only told my sister. I'm definitely waiting until my ultrasound on the 19th, then the next person to find out will be my co-worker, since we share a call schedule.
Is anyone waiting to tell parents? Last time I waited until I was 4 1/2 months along. (I'm really NOT into the "EEEEE!!!" from my mother, but I know she'll be excited.) She's coming up to visit us next month and that will obviously be waaaaay earlier than 4 1/2 months. I think I'll tell her at the very end of the visit.
Surely I won't be showing that much by the beginning of August....
pear / 1846 posts
@charmed: @Raindrop: @Espion: we have told my mum and my best friend, we will tell my dad on fathers day. After that I actually want to wait till after our holiday the last week of august. But maybe I'm being optimistic on when i will start to show? @Espion: when did you start to show last time? Maybe floaty tops might hide it.
persimmon / 1313 posts
@charmed: Oh man, that's a pickle. Your poor husband but I'm sure once he gets to share, he'll be over the moon.
@Raindrop: I am also a terrible liar. During 5 weeks, I had a nurse friend ask because I just said I was feeling under the weather. The next weekend, I had my bff's aunt-in-law say she couldn't wait to see me with a bump and I just laughed all awkwardly because I am just awkward. This past weekend, thus aforementioned friend's in-laws were in town so we went to lunch. Half of the couples have recently had babies and my bff goes "we're the last ones standing" and I just laughed and pretended to drop something. I'm the worst and I understand why you told them!
@Espion: I'm still waiting, mainly because I don't know what's the best way to share since I'm out of state and my family has so many crazy things happening daily!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Espion: we're waiting. I'd love to tell my parents now since they have been so supportive with our infertility struggles. My MIL, however, is an anxious woman who realllllllly wants grandchildren, so I think the longer we wait to tell her, the better. We'll tell our families in July, which seems so far away!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Happygal: I totally understand this. My parents know, just because I talk to my mother every day and she would totally have figured it out. She knew right away, and we told my dad last weekend. After my loss, though, we're waiting until 13 weeks to tell my ILs. They know what happened last fall, and so even though I know they'd be supportive, I am not quite ready to be so "fussed over" yet. It's stressful enough for me to think to myself "How do I feel today? Is everything going to be all right?"--and I'm not ready to be getting that (albeit well-intentioned) from a million of DH's family members yet. We'll be on vacation with them in week 13, actually, so it will be fun to be together to announce.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@charmed: So cool your DH is so excited. I wouldn't know what to do with your friend either. Good luck deciding.
I think we'll be telling some friends next week since we go and visit them in Berlin and we're staying at their place.
Also I talked to my doctor again because of that weird CM virus again and also about the immunization and he says he doesn't want to do it as long as I don't catch the infection. So now I have to go in every 2 weeks for blood work. I kinda feel like being high-risk without the perks of actually being it (like seeing your baby more often...). Oh well, we'll be okay.
@Espion: We told our parents because we feel we'd also tell them about a miscarriage so we felt comfortable announcing earlier.
persimmon / 1177 posts
@Espion: we told our parents right away. We're planning to tell my siblings and a couple close friends after the ultrasound.
@Happygal: if my in-laws lived nearby, I think I would have wanted to wait to tell them. Luckily they're out of state so all the fussing is over phone calls.
@namaste: @Raindrop: I'm a total spaz when I have to lie about something, so I've been doing my best to avoid people the last couple weeks. Quite a few friends/family know we were trying, so if someone mentioned it I would definitely give myself away.
Funny story: my EDD is January 15, and my friend's son was born this year on January 15. Last year on Father's day, we went out with her and her husband, and they told us they were expecting. So I'm hoping to tell them I'm pregnant on Father's Day this year
pomegranate / 3921 posts
Also, on a completely unrelated note, I am so mad at myself because I got SO SUNBURNED this weekend while laying out with my SIL. It was idiotic of me to not put enough sunscreen on, and now I am suffering big time. It's worst on my boobs, which are sticking out of my bathing suits a bit more than usual. I'm pretty sure they're going to peel! Ugh. I can't even wear a regular bra, they hurt so bad! I'm rocking a sports bra to work this week.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@charmed: So fun about Father's Day!! And I am a total spaz about lying, too. I don't mind "hiding" that I'm pregnant, but I hate when someone straight up asks me. My husband and I are both SO awkward when that happens.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@mfa_lady: @charmed: @namaste: @Raindrop: Another weird liar about pregnancy here. ONE DAY after the positive tests friends asked us whether we're planning on nr.2 yet? Ummm, we were just like: We'll see... I mean AF was 1 day late so anything could have happened. If it happened now I would probably just tell them...
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Pumuckl: Hahaha, we were at a party a week after we found out, and some friends of ours were saying something about when we had a baby, yadda yadda (they know our story, and that we're trying, etc) and one of THEIR friends goes "Oh! Are you guys having a baby?" And my husband and I both yelled NO! NO! so intensely. And then we tried to recover, and were all like "Well, you know, one day, eventually, yeah, um...." It was way past awkward. Ha!
pineapple / 12793 posts
I've been fairly open about my pregnancy thus far. I feel really jinxy about lying about it so I won't lie to anyone looking at my stomach. It's also fairly obvious at this point.
So far my parents, sisters, grandmother, and one aunt know on my side. A close friend was visiting just after we found out so I told her. DH has told his parents and one of his sisters. My boss and coworker know. Our cleaning woman. Three of my husbands coworkers. Two of our neighbors. Our realtor.
yeah....
whoops.
I figure we'll make a big announcement on July 8th when DD turns 18 months. I used to send out a daily photo to our family and friends. I stopped when she was a year but the mailing list includes everyone we'd want to tell about number two.
16 days left until my NT scan. I'm dying to see this little thing that's been making me feel so awful.
Who has the next ultrasound? I wanna see little blobby pictures!
And bumps?! Who else has a bump?
I'm strictly in maternity or stretchy waist pants now.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@oliviaoblivia: Haha, so jealous of the 2.5 weeks you're ahead! I'm not in mat cloths yet but I'm more than 20lbs lighter than at the beginning of my 1st pregnancy so I fit into my a lot of my pre-pregancy nr. 1 cloths right now.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@oliviaoblivia: holy crap!! you're already that close to NT scan? how many weeks are you? my NT scan isn't for another 6 weeks, lol.
I've told quite a few people too..my parents, my grandparents, my aunt, my brother. my cousin and a couple friends. his parents, his brothers. my employer. some of his friends. probably forgetting a few..
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
we have a dating ultrasound on July 1. finally within a month! so nervous, honestly. I have a sonoline doppler I just bought that I plan to start trying to use next week
someone told me they heard baby at 7 weeks, so who knows.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@oliviaoblivia: No bump here yet (just the leftover flab that was already there). I still have been wearing maternity shorts because they are so comfortable, though.
I've already told more people than I really wanted, but always with the reminder to them that it is still early and we haven't seen that everything is okay in there. I'm trying to not tell anyone else until our ultrasound. 3 weeks from today!
I woke up this morning feeling terrible. I slightly blame it on the poor sleep I got because the police came knocking on our door at 3am asking about a car parked right outside our unit.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Pumuckl: I showed early with my first and cannot stand anything remotely tight on my tummy now. I figure I might as well be comfortable.
@sorrycharlie: Ten weeks on Thursday! Crazy!
@Radish: embrace the elastic waist!

@oliviaoblivia: I go tomorrow, and so does BHbee. First ultrasound for me!
I actually have shared that I'm pregnant with 3 people--the 19 year old gym membership sales guy, my dental hygienist (who I found out also saw the same RE as me!) and my dentist.
@mfa_lady: oh man, sunburns are the pits. I can actually imagine the pain. So sorry! Taking a shower is hard when you're skin is fried.

Sitting in my OB's waiting room now for the first appt. I mentioned before, pretty sure they don't do ultrasounds early here, but I'm just hoping everything sounds and looks good! I'm 8 weeks today.
And @mfa_lady: @Pumuckl: @namaste: @Raindrop: I'm a terrible liar too. No one has straight up asked me, but we've really been avoiding friends (not hard to do with LO' and DH being sick) because if I skipped a drink I know I'd be called out
pomelo / 5000 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: looking forward to your update!
@Snowdrop: glad to hear your results turned out well. Sounds like you have a great doctor!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: This x1000. We are avoiding all non-essential gatherings with friends! Haha. Basically we are only doing birthdays and other exciting celebrations right now. I can't wait to announce so I can apologize for being such a hermit, and explain myself!
Hope your appointment goes well!!

@Espion: Not to scare you but my co-worker with her second kid looked like she ate a basketball at 3.5 months. She was very surprised how soon she showed!
She's like how did this happen!? She was very funny about it.
@Pumuckl: I hope that weird CM virus goes away soon! Sounds very annoying. Sorry!
@mfa_lady: Aww I always forget to put sunblock on my shoulder... I don't know why... you would think I would have learned by now(!) and so they get burn really bad all the time. I hope yours heals fast!
@oliviaoblivia: That's very interesting! I feel like if we are too open about the pregnancy that we are jinxing it. Like your way of thinking better.
@happygal: & @BHBee: good luck on your appointments!
@Snowdrop: Good numbers. Yay!
@keepcalmcarrie: Good luck on your appointment!

@oliviaoblivia: No bump here just bloat! I'm still in my old jeans.
@Radish: Ugh I'm sorry you're feeling terrible. Hope you feel better!

@Snowdrop: YAY! Such good news.
@keepcalmcarrie: Good luck!

@Pumuckl: Good! Not a lot to report, just like I suspected. Dr. said I'm measuring on track, maybe a little ahead (he did one of those internal exam/press on your stomach deals - not comfy!) I'll go back in 3 weeks (June 26) to hear the heartbeat! Still have to go to a lab for the bloodwork, probably Thurs or Fri.
Feeling a little more confident, though I won't really feel secure til the heartbeat comes thumping through his stethoscope
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: Did you have an internal u/s? When they did that for me... even though I couldn't hear, it was comforting to see the little circle in the circle flicker.
pear / 1846 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: I imagine measuring on track/may be a little ahead is good news though?
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: glad it went well!
@Happygal: thinking of you for tomorrow, can't wait to hear the update!
I think my appt tomorrow may be uneventful too. Except for the part where I beg them for an ultrasound based on my loss history ... Trying to be zen since we saw the embryo at 6w. Tempted to get a Doppler but with LO they wouldn't even try it in the office at 10w because they said it wasn't a given to find it.
Oh and poor DH is stuck alone with the movers because of course they just happen to be arriving during my appt! But no complaints because we haven't seen our stuff in 2 weeks.
