@Raindrop: how are things going? Any updates?

@Charmed: I'm glad you had a good time telling friends! I'm dying to tell a friend so I can talk pregnancy stuff like you said.

    @pumuckl: Thanks!

@sorrycharlie: tell me more about your home doppler! Do you check all the time? I think that could get out of control for me....what time is your appointment?

@OliviaOblivia: looking forward to seeing the picture of your babe!

My appointment was fine this morning--mainly boring! I was really stressed out b/c we were almost 15 minutes late, and I hate being late. I met my OB for the first time who is a fast talker, but he didn't say anything I didn't already know.

  4. namaste

    persimmon / 1313 posts

@Happygal: Thank you! I'm glad as well! This is such a first time experience for me lol.

    @charmed: Thank you!

    @oliviaoblivia: Good luck dear!

@Epsion: Hah, me either! I also keep tampons because I live in a tourist hot-spot and women are always asking in public bathrooms. There's nothing worse than hanging out at Disney and being caught without tampons.

I finally shared the news with my family this weekend and DH told my FIL. My grandma was super super sweet which made me feel weird. I'm rarely emotional (and I'm realizing it now) and so when people are like crying or extra excited, I'm sort of awkward. Yikes. My godkids were the cutest with their gender predictions of a girl. My oldest goddaughter (7) let me know that I'll be peeing a lot and I'll be tired for a long time! lol

@Happygal: That's fantastic news! Sorry you were late. I also get so stressed out about being on time.

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@namaste: Glad your goddaughter was there to tell you what's up! Sounds like it was a fun time.

Not only was I late, but I forgot my wallet, couldn't find my sheet with all my typed up dates that are hard to remember on it (LMP, IUI, etc.) and was not prepared for a breast exam and cervix check. They took my blood pressure and it was high--good reminder to get a handle on my stress!

@Happygal: it was moved to Friday! I don't use the Doppler often. Mostly, I forget I'm pregnant aside from the vomiting! My dd keeps me busy lol. I Have a sonoline b I got off the classifieds

  8. Raindrop

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

@Happygal: Thanks for asking. I actually did start to bleed again on Friday after I thought it stopped but it was just spotting and it was gone by Friday night. I have been spotting/bleeding free since Friday! I hope it stays that way.

Glad to hear your appointment was boring! Did you hear a heartbeat?

@namaste: You godkids sound super cute.

@sorrycharlie: Good luck on Friday! That's my real appointment too. Did you use the doppler for your first kid?

  9. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@Raindrop: I did not use a doppler with my DD I don't know why I am with this one, lol! my appt friday is just info gathering. so boring. my first REAL one is july 1..I'll be 10w3d, hoping for a great ultrasound! fingers crossed..

  10. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

Healthy scan! Was accompanied with an awful ultrasound pic. I'm pretty sure it's a baby. Might be a dinosaur though.

  11. Raindrop

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

@oliviaoblivia: LOL it might be a dinosaur I'm glad you got an ultra sound. Was it better looking in person?

Mine looks bad too but in person it was great to see the heartbeat and the little bean kind of moving. My OB tried to get a good picture but it's tough.

  12. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@Raindrop: unfortunately the screen was turned away from me almost the whole time. DH for to see it but I couldn't. I was crushed when the tech handed me that photo after not seeing anything during the scan.

  13. Raindrop

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

@oliviaoblivia: Booooooooo!!! What an uncool tech! Mommies need to see it too.

  14. namaste

    persimmon / 1313 posts

@oliviaoblivia: I'm so bummed you didn't get to see the scan. Yay for a good appointment!

@sorrycharlie: @Raindrop: Oh man they're quite the handfull. I'm actually feeling at peace right now to be eight hours away. All of calls and emails are a little overwhelming.

  15. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@oliviaoblivia: glad all is well! I hate techs that don't think to show mom I had one of those once..I had to actually ask "can I see?" ugh. I would always have a crick in my neck trying desperately to see!!

  16. Mrs. Confetti

    blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts

@oliviaoblivia: love that dinosaur pic - it really looks like one!!

@sorrycharlie: I bought a Doppler but have been waiting til 10 weeks to try because I am afraid that if I can't find it (when it is early and totally ok and normal), I would freak out. You are totally tempting me to get it out and try!

@namaste: yay for announcing to family - so funny about your goddaughter

  17. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@sorrycharlie: I really should have spoken up. I kept thinking I don't want to bother him when he's taking important measurements I'll get the picture at the end. DH assures me it didn't look like a dinosaur on the screen. Ugh.
    @Mrs. Confetti: thanks!
@namaste: so glad your family was so excited!

We told dh's family yesterday. The whole clan was together for fathers day. Someone commented on how FIL had 19 grandkids. So I piped up "20!" And then dh's sister said "No L is #19." So I said yeah she's #19 but this is #20 and pointed to my tummy.

I'm still not sure how I'm going to tell my extended family.
Had any one else had any reveals lately?

  18. Mrs. Confetti

    blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts

@oliviaoblivia: love that - so cute!! We are going to put C is a big bro tshirt to announce to DH's family - pretty easy and totally cliche, but I am too tired all the time to get more creative.

  19. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@Happygal: Totally get the anxiety over being late. Glad all was uneventful, though!

@oliviaoblivia: Aw, I'm so sorry you didn't get a good view or a good pic. At least your DH saw!

I started my new job today--training for two days this week and next before starting full time after a week off. It was intense but awesome. I'm typing on my new work laptop now! Woo hoo!

Welcome to all the new ladies!! I haven't been on in awhile and there have been quite a few of you!
And hooray for all the new appointments and ultrasounds!! Loving the pictures!
I was lucky enough to get hit by the morning sickness bus 2 full weeks earlier than my first pregnancy. ..boo!! I was good last time with just 1 zofran a day....I'm up to 3 a day this go round. On the plus side my first appointment is next Monday the 23rd! Just the boring first visit with all the pokes and prods.

    @Mrs. Confetti: Thanks, lady!

I have been feeling MUCH better lately--still pretty tired, and grabbing a nap whenever I can, but the nausea has been a lot better. I am finally starting to want to eat normal/healthy foods a bit more. Since this is right around the time I found out about my MMC last time, it's hard for me to be excited about feeling better (because I worry too much!) but we'll get to see the little one again next week for our NT scan so hopefully I'll be even more at ease after that.

  24. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@cheesehead: Aw, feel better, lady! I'm so sorry you've been feeling so bad.

@oliviaoblivia: Yeah, little dinosaur pic! So glad all is going well! And love how you annouced to family! But booo on the u/s tech... I love my doc: She always looks first and then immediately turns the screen to show me and she actually really tried to get a good pic for me (that's how the astronaut came about).

ETA: Once u/s are done on the big machine there is actually a TV that doubles the pic that the Dr. is seeing. Love that and no cranking of the head involved...

@mfa_lady: Oh wow, time is starting to fly faster, is your NT scan really next week already! Wow so cool and yay for feeling better. I'm still exhausted at lot but the queasiness is nearly gone. Have fun at your new job! Hope you love it!

@cheesehead: Oh no, hope the m/s passes soon for you!

@Mrs. Confetti: Let us know once you hear a heartbeat! keeping FX it works soon.

  26. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@Pumuckl: Ahh, thank you for telling me that you're not as queasy anymore either! I mean, I guess that's normal for week 11...but it's still terrifying. Only in pregnancy do you say things like "Oh, no! I don't feel like barfing!" Haha.

Also, in case anybody needs anything--30% off at Old Navy (sale stuff too!) and 40% off at Gap online today with code THANKS.

  27. Mrs. Confetti

    blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts

@Pumuckl: not even trying til July - don't want to scare myself before then. Intentionally not buying the gel til then so I don't cheat since I saw it at my 7w appointment and have continued to feel like crap since, that is all the sign I need right now.

  28. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Mrs. Confetti: I think this is a very wise decision! Just like @mfa_lady: said it's only pregnant ladies that see feeling like crap as good news. For me it is mainly the size of my stomach that is reassuring - it's growing at lightning speed. It gets more and more difficult to hide it.

I have my NT scan on 07/11 (they do bloodwork before that) so I should get a definite answer (percentage) then and hopefully the hiding can then stop.

Can you all explain the cystic fibrosis screening to me? It was brought up yesterday, but I didn't have enough information to decide.

  30. charmed

    persimmon / 1177 posts

@oliviaoblivia: sorry you weren't able to see the screen while the tech was doing the ultrasound! Buy yay for little dinosaurs!
And that was such a cute way to tell family!

@cheesehead: sorry you've been feeling so bad! Hope it lets up soon.

@mfa_lady: thanks for sharing the sale! (not that I need an excuse to shop more )

I have been absolutely exhausted lately. Taking naps almost every day and getting 9 hours of sleep at night, but still tired. I'd rather be tired than nauseous, so I hate to complain, but it would be nice to have a little energy again.

  31. charmed

    persimmon / 1177 posts

@Happygal: here's what they told me about the cystic fibrosis screening: the test will tell you your chance of being a carrier for CF gene. If you are likely a carrier, then your partner should be tested too -both parents have to be a carrier to pass it on, but there is something like a 25% chance you will.
(someone please correct me if that is wrong)

My office also recommended I check with my insurance to make sure the test is covered b/c it's pricey (around $1000) and some insurances don't cover it.

  32. Snowdrop

    pear / 1846 posts

@Happygal: it seems like pointless worry to me. Over here they test babies as a matter of course as soon as they are born. Id hate to find out we were both carriers and then spend the rest of my pregnancy with another added worry. That being said, im opting out of everything but the nt and anomaly scan so maybe my view is a little different.

  33. HappyBaker

    nectarine / 2242 posts

@Happygal: We opted to do the cystic fibrosis test when I was pregnant for DD #1. My thinking was that I more wanted to know if we were both carriers before we TTC #2 - because then we would know in advance the risks.

  34. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@oliviaoblivia: Hey, cute lil' Baby T-rex! Glad everything went okay, but what the heck is up with them not showing you the screen?!?! I've never even thought of that happening because our u/s office has monitors mounted on the wall just for the parents to watch. I would be so upset if I missed it. What a jerkie tech to not think about that! Also, I love your announcement!

  35. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@charmed: @Snowdrop: @MrsTiger: thanks for that good explanation, and it makes me glad I decided not to test!

Just got back from a training session at the gym. I told my trainer that we're not telling people about the pregnancy yet. As she set up the equipment, she explained that this was a good set up for "....ummmm....women in your condition." I appreciate that she was discreet, but the wording made me laugh!

Hey all! Hope everyone is doing well We had quite the scare on sunday. DH and I DTD and there was blood.... so much blood. Went to the DR yesterday and baby is perfect. No more dirty until I get checked by the DR 7/9. Which I'm not really upset about We also have our NT scan the same day. I can't believe how much better the ultrasounds are now compared to only a year and a half ago.

  37. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@Happygal: "Women in your condition." Too good!!! Haha.

@Cupcake: So glad everything turned out okay, mama! Thank you for updating us! And wow! What a picture! Makes me excited for my NT scan next week, even though ours won't be 3D.
