@sorrycharlie: Thank you for saying this. Haha! To be honest, just typing "my labor" almost gave me a heart attack. I'll start thinking about that once I'm successfully out of the first tri.
ETA: Girl, 3.5 hours?! Sounds like you'll be on high alert when labor is near this time around!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@mfa_lady: yeah, to be honest I almost skipped having a second entirely because I am terrified! especially being due in Jan, in the northeast. uh, hello snow. god help me this time. I am going to have serious talks with my doctor about possibly inducing. or just start going to triage with any cramp and hope one of the times they keep me. haha. triage was a shitshow with my first..I got there and they made me wait almost 45 minutes before getting me checked! at which point they rushed me upstairs fully dilated. idiots.

@sorrycharlie: I cannot even imagine!!!! My cousin had a really fast birth with her first, too--water broke at 11PM and baby was born at 4 (but it was really 3 because it was Spring Forward, haha)....and here's how she described it to me: "I went from thinking, 'Oh, wow, I'm peeing myself now? Great....' to noticing 'Man, my stomach is really hurting, but maybe I still just peed myself...' to 'HOLY SHIT WE ARE HAVING A BABY TONIGHT' in about one hour." Oh also, her baby was a month early. WHAT!!!!!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@mfa_lady: yep! when my water broke (at 5) I called the on-call, who I had never met or spoken to. she was like, "oh, you don't sound like you're in pain. and it's your first. so head to the hospital around 10:30." ...yeah, well, by 6 I was on the floor, so we headed in haha. I was fully dilated by 8:30 but they let me labor down til 9, she was born at 9:27! good thing I didn't wait til 10:30.. looking back, I feel like that was so irresponsible of her to say that! not every labor is the same. I'm pretty sure that's why triage didn't take me seriously either, because I was a FTM and suffer silently, so I wasn't screaming and making a scene.

@sorrycharlie: Oh my word. That is nuts!! At least you'll know what to expect this time! It's crazy to think that it's only 6.5 months until we'll be doing this!

@mfa_lady: I'm conquering walking, prenatal yoga, and strength training. I found a thing on pinterest that has a short work out - http://pinterest.com/pin/20618110768719464/?utm_source=android_share
It's been pretty good with those. Lunges have always been bad on my knees, even proper form and shoes so I don't so as many of those. My ankles are also bad from sports injuries so with all of the storms lately, I have to be extra careful.

@Happygal: Before I got pregnant, I was doing a 10,000 squat challenge because I'm a glutton for punishment. Even then, the most squats you'd do a day were like 125 at the most. I think I peaked around that time. 300 squats is insane!
BodyPump is the only Les Mills class I didn't take. I loved BodyFlow so much and I still have a few of the releases and remember the pregnancy poses. I should try those out once my body is more predictable. Way to go with your trainer!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@namaste: I was thinking of starting a pregnancy fitness support thread. Would you be interested in that?
What's BodyFlow?
persimmon / 1313 posts
@Happygal: I would love to! It's a yoga, pilates, tai chi class put together by the same company who created the BodyPump program. It's really good! http://m.lesmills.com/global/en/class-types/bodybalance/
I'd love to help!

Hello all,
I just came back from Iceland and have been reading all the posts I've missed. Congrats to all the newcomers and to those who had healthy ultrasounds.
Iceland was amazing, the nature is so beautiful. We did a lot of hiking and exploring and even walked on a glacier! There were also a ton of hot springs and heated pools but thankfully they were mostly body temperature so I could actually try them. I went on a few water slides too. So of course I was pretty nervous about my NT scan after all those activities.
But I had it today and all is well, baby is measuring 11 weeks 6 days, HR is 175. The NT measurement was within normal. It was so cool seeing it move around.
Here is a picture of the bean

@pmrlady: What a sweet little profile! Glad you had a great vacation and a great scan!

@mfa_lady: Wow it's tough to split your time between your new job and current job! Good luck! I'm sure you will kill it at both. Hehe.
Also yeah no exercising for me till my next U/S but I wasn't really into exercising in the first place. I'm so bad!
@Cupcake: LOL!
@Happygal: 300 squats ... a day!! I'm already tired just thinking about that. I guess it's great if it makes your labor easier.
@sorrycharlie: Wow 3.5 hours for a first birth is soooo fast! Crazy story! Hospitals should know not all births are the same!!
Mine was *counting* 18 hours between when I got to the hospital and gave birth. I came in at 5/6 cm but no broken water.
@pmrlady: Welcome back! I'm glad Iceland was awesome. Such a good picture of your bean, cute!
I didn't know where to put this but I'm like the un-fitest out of all my friends, and DH always bugged me to exercise but that didn't really happen. I was just too sick normally and that was my excuse, also I did lose a ton of weight because of my morning sickness.
Out of all my friends like 12 that gave birth in the last few years only me and one other girl (who is pretty fit actually) gave birth vaginally everyone else had complications and needed c-sections. Usually c-section rate is 1 out of 3 so it's weird that I know so many women that had c-sections due to various reasons.
So I feel like what happens when you give birth feels like just all luck!

@mfa_lady: Does a brief morning walk with the dog and carrying an infant around all day count? Please say yes. Lol.
@pmrlady: What an exciting vacation! How was it communicating over there? Do you speak the language?
apricot / 316 posts
@MapleMoose: the language is almost impossible to pronounce, they use so many consonants in one word. But most people there actually spoke English so it was fine.

@Happygal: I'd love to join in on a pregnancy fitness thread! I'm getting ready to go to the gym right now- haven't been in almost a week
@pmrlady: glad you had a great time in Iceland, and hooray for a good scan!

I updated the calendar too. Anyone already know they are on Team Green? Also waiting for cheesehead to confirm her due date! Hehe.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Raindrop: Awesome! For some reason it seems really REAL to see it on a calendar like that...
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Raindrop: You can put me down for definitely not team green.
@jojepie: Another in the 2 under 2 crew!
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@mfa_lady: I feel the same way! I also like how our calendar is pretty evenly spread out.
@oliviaoblivia: LOL! I'm so not team green either. I need to know!

Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome!! I forgot who asked this but this pregnancy feels very similar to my first. Morning sickness is maybe a tiny bit better but it started at the exact same time at 5.5 weeks and I'm hoping it'll end at exactly the same time at 9.5 weeks. I'm much more tired this time around. I never had the fatigue the first pregnancy.
Today at lunch all I really wanted was an egg and cheese sandwich on a roll and I had to go to five different delis before I found one that was still making eggs at lunch. Pregnant cravings are not to be denied!
Good on all you ladies that are exercising!
@jojepie: welcome welcome!!
@pmrlady: Iceland is on our bucket list out places to travel. We were thinking about maybe August so we can get a break from the summer heat. That's a beautiful picture of your little bean!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
Okay, I'm full of questions today, but is anyone taking bump photos? I can't decide yet if I have a belly or if I'm bloated...all I know is I can't wear my regular jeans anymore. I've resorted to the hair-tie solution for now and am wearing a lot of dresses.
Anyway, I want to do belly pics but I also feel weird/self conscious about it for some reason. Anybody have cute ones (from this pregnancy or a previous one) that they want to share to motivate me? (Since it's not gold, you can crop your head out and I won't be offended! )
persimmon / 1313 posts
@pmrlady: I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip! That's delightful! Such a gorgeous scan. Congrats!
@jojepie: Hello and welcome! My morning sickness has been terrible but it's been easing up this week. Hope you feel better soon!
@mfa_lady: Heh, my mom requested one and I gagged at the thought. In the early mornings, I look fine and by dinner, I could easily look 5 months pregnant. My belly is all over the place. It is looking less "bloated" and a little more round in the lower belly only when it does look round.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@namaste: Right? I snapchatted one to my SIL (who figured out I was pregnant THE DAY AFTER I tested, damnit!) yesterday because she is having a rough week and I knew it'd make her happy. Haha. I try to hide it big time in work clothes, but when I put on a fitted tank at home something (bloat? fat-ness? baby?) is quite obvious. I just feel weird about the "stand around and touch/take pics of my belly" phenomenon. Which, of course, is totally stupid, because I ADORE seeing and getting pics from my friends' pregnancies. Weird.
blogger / kiwi / 588 posts
@oliviaoblivia: yup! we are going to be busy!
@sleepymonkey @namaste: thank you for the welcome and congrats to you both as well!
persimmon / 1313 posts
@mfa_lady: Oh man I'm running out of maxi dress+scarf combinations because that's what I've been living in at church. My bff is still on vacation and I don't want anyone there to know before she does so I'm still ~incognito~ around there and around town. I live in fitted tanks at home and just watch my stomach look weird all day. hahaha I'm totally feeling awkward about people asking me about my stomach. UGH...
I know it's hormones but I'm shaving twice as much. I didn't get my mother's hairless genetics so I look like a yeti every few days if I'm not pro-active.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@jojepie: welcome! I love that picture of you son.
@mfa_lady: no pictures yet. The idea of doing weekly pictures kind of stresses me out, but I do want to capture moments along the way!
@MapleMoose: I saw that definitely counts as exercise!
@namaste: @charmed: Great! I'll get a thread going here in just a few minutes.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@namaste: The only good thing about being able to see the belly when I'm at home is that DH likes it! He doesn't know the difference between bloat and baby, all he knows is that I look different--and that is exciting for him because it makes it more real somehow. So, I'll just run with it...and keep trying REALLY HARD not to buy maternity pants yet. Hahaha.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@mfa_lady: truth: I spent last night looking at some maternity clothes on Amazon. My husband loves to declare, "You're showing!" and I explain to him that it's not necessarily a good thing at 8.5 weeks.
persimmon / 1177 posts
@jojepie: welcome and congrats!
@mfa_lady: I made DH take a photo a couple weeks ago so I had a starting pic. I think I'll try to do monthly pics, but we'll see how that goes.
@namaste: my hair is growing like crazy too
@Happygal: my dh is the opposite, I told him I felt like I was starting to show a little, and he gives me a look and says "nope, not even close!"
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Happygal: Hahahaha. I was feeling particularly gross the other night, and my dad kept saying I was showing...and for some reason, it made me want to punch him! I guess there's nothing abnormal about having strange over-the-top emotions at 11 weeks pregnant, but MAN! It made me so mad/self-conscious/annoyed for some reason. It doesn't bother me as much when my husband does it....maybe because he's my husband. Ha!
