New Year, New Babes - January 2015 Moms

    Hi ladies! I know I'm super late to the party. But I was just way to freaked out to join until now. I just had my NT scan today and everything looked good, so I feel better joining. I'll try to catch up with everyone. It's so nice to see all the little cuties already!

    EDD: January 8th, 2015

    When did you find out: at 3 weeks and 4 days...whenever that was. I'm 12 weeks today.

    How do you feel?: soo sick! I thought the MS was supposed to ease up by now!?

    Child #: 1

    What type of provider will you see?/What type of birth do you want to have?: Right now I am seeing an OB that I love. She will likely not be delivering my baby since there are 29 OBs that take turns in L&D. I want to go as natural as possible.

    When is your first appointment?: I've already had three ultrasounds and my next appointment is July 24th.

    What are you most excited about?: Feeling the little one kick.

    What are you scared/nervous about?: Right now, incompetent cervix. I had a Leep procedure a couple of years ago. My doctor assured me that it shouldn't be a problem, but I'm still really nervous about it.

    Here's my little cutie!

    @MrsHansen82: Welcome! Were they able to guess at the gender at the NT scan? I'd guess girl.

  3. turquoisemama

    persimmon / 1481 posts

    @Espion: Yep! She said girl. She said don't buy anything yet but it's pretty evident. So, I'm happy either way, but I have felt like it was a girl for a while. So excited to buy little dresses!!

    @MapleMoose: yikes, sorry to hear about the shingles. Welcome to the world of titers...

    @Raindrop: bummer about the GD hope your bleeding will stop soon!

    @keepcalmcarrie: yay, for the great appointment! Glad all looks good!

    @mfa_lady: wow, so many happy news on one day!

    @namaste: hope you had a great shopping trip with your BFF yesterday!

    @MrsHansen82: welcome!

    As for me, I was a little mia this week since work was crazy busy. My CMV titers still look good so I'm kind of hopefully we have really dodged that bullet. Otherwise my bump has grown like crazy and jeans that still comfortable fit 3 weeks ago I can now not even close. Still really looking forward to seeing my little bean again this coming Monday!

    I've missed out on a lot--this group moves fast!

    @mfa_lady: a banner day! Did you celebrate last night? Congrats on all the goodness.

    @Raindrop: I think I missed this, but why did they decide to test for GD already? I'm sorry about the results, but hope you have a good education session that will make it easier to deal with.

    @MrsHansen82: welcome! I'm glad you've joined the group.

    @Pumuckl: Can't wait for Monday, on your behalf!

    @Happygal: Yeah!! My parents took us out to dinner, at which point I was so exhausted from the worrying/excitement/adrenaline rush/crash that I could barely keep my eyes open. I rewarded myself with a few sips of Coke. Ha!

    @oliviaoblivia: Thank you dear!

    @charmed: Yes, it was a highlight. They're like more excited than we are right now lol.

    @Raindrop: So sorry to hear about your GD. I've heard it's not too bad and since you know early, you can have an easier time managing I think! It'll be ok

    @keepcalmcarrie: Yay for a good appointment.

    @MapleMoose: So sorry for the shingles exposure! Yikes! How scary.

    @mfa_lady: Ahh your bean baby is the cutest!!!!! So happy for you and your husband. Celebrate all weekend long.

    @cheesehead: May 29 due date is awesome!

    @MrsHansen82: How exciting! Congrats for a girl and welcome!

    Ladies, shopping exhausted me yesterday. My arm is still sore from the blood draw and I was out all day. I should have ended the day with my pedicure instead of starting it with one ;). I found some amazing things at Motherhood, lots of dresses and the ladies were just amazing sales people. I got a few tops and a pair of shorts that I'm not sure about still. Pea in the Pod was right next door so it was nice to browse the designer lines.

    My Gap/Old Navys have like no maternity! I'm going to try to browse while I'm in South Florida this weekend because I'm having a hard time finding basics (leggings/jeans) for these legs. I might end up just buying online and H&M Maternity looks cute from what I've seen! Sending you all weekend good thoughts! I'll be on the road today so pray for me and my bladder lol

    I'm going to have my bff's husband announce it in church over the weekend while we're gone which helps me not being overwhelmed by the crazy church ladies for another week Sorry for the long update! You can tell I blog huh?

    @charmed: Thank you!

    @namaste: Thanks, lady! I hope you can find some good stuff! Our Old Navy doesn't have a ton of stuff, either, but I think I got lucky. They have great sales online sometimes, too, so even though it's a pain, that's an option!

    How many times are you making bathroom trips in the middle of the night? I usually got up 1 time before pregnancy, and now I'm going 3-4 times each night. I can shuffle and barely open my eyes, but I wake up feeling so dehydrated!

  20. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

    @Happygal: I'm only getting up once per night, but before being pregnant, I never got up at all! Yikes!

  21. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

    @Happygal: way too many bathroom trips. Ice water helps my nausea but not the constant trips!! Also, I had no bladder issues after having DD but almost every time I gag I pee. UGH!

    @mfa_lady: off to read!

  22. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

    @Happygal: I'm not having to get up yet. I never really had to with DD either. I'm part camel.

    @mfa_lady: I'm no help with names. DH and I only agreed on one baby name. This next baby is in trouble if it's a girl or boy. Dog names are another story, we have names for our next six dogs.

    @Happygal: never got up before and now it is about three times, it is really affecting my sleep as it seems to take my sleepy brain a while to realise that that s why I have woken up.

    @MrsHansen82: Congrats! Cute picture.

    @Pumuckl: Good luck on your appointment. Hehe I think it's time to get new pants!

    @Happygal: My mom has diabetes so I'm labeled high risk for it. For my last LO they tested me 3 times... right away at 10 weeks, then again at 16 weeks I believe and then again at 26 weeks just to make sure. I passed each one hour test! And this time I totally failed at 8 weeks. Every pregnancy is different or so I'm told.

    @namaste: I need some shorts. I was going to check out gap or old navy before my vacation/destination wedding but maybe it's not worth it. Good to know. Glad you still got some good stuff.

    @mfa_lady: *going to read it*

    @Happygal: I get up about once a night. It's always like at 4 am. Then I wake up again at 8 am for work.

  27. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

    @Raindrop: I got some cute cuffed jean shorts at Old Navy. Since it's the middle of the season they were full price ($29.94, I think?) but they're a great length and are super comfortable.

    @mfa_lady: Oh man I'm totally bad with names... not responding to your thread! Sorry.

    @Raindrop: So hard, right?! Gosh. Thank goodness we have six months to decide!

  31. Raindrop

    @mfa_lady: Seriously!

    I will tell you this. Last time, we had a prefect name for a girl and we ended up with a boy and it took us a long time to figure a name for him. When we did we were very happy with it and even now we can't believe we picked out such a fitting name for him. I'm sure that will happen to you too!

    Now it's the opposite, we aren't sure about our original girl name and now we have a perfect second boy name. So if we ended up with a girl we will be in the same situation again.

  32. Cupcake

    apricot / 495 posts

    @Raindrop: Hopefully the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing!
    @mfa_lady: You make me SO excited about my next appointment. I'll be 14 weeks and I'll be having another ultrasound. I'm really really hoping this wee one isn't shy about their bits and bobs.
    @MrsHansen82: Welcome!

    Is anyone over people making comments about baby coming in december so that it can be a write off? OR... OH january? too bad it wasn't december, now you'll have to wait a whole year for the write off. I might just smack the next person that says that to me. I'm sorry I didn't plan a January baby so that it *might* come early so I can get a nice write off. "shut up, stupid" is what I would like to tell them! Seriously, I've heard it from at least 10 people!

  33. SleepyMonkey

    grapefruit / 4006 posts

    @Cupcake: hah! We haven't really started announcing yet but that is a weird thing to say to you! I would just be super sarcastic about it and say, "yeah we were really gunning for a December baby but couldn't get it done! I think I might ask to be induced early to take advantage of it."

  34. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

    @Cupcake: That is crazy that people would say that. I don't widely announce my pregnancy so I guess it makes it easier to avoid strange comments like that.

  35. Raindrop

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

    @Cupcake: Wow I wouldn't have ever ever thought of saying that or even thinking that. People be weird!

    I'm Chinese and even though next years new year is not suppose to happen till the end of feb there is actually an official cut off date of Feb 4th (before is a horse after is the sheep) and I'm getting a lot comments about ending up with a sheep because my due date is Jan 30... my kids like to live on the edge.

    I guess I'm okay either way as long as the baby is healthy but technically a horse is better than a sheep or so they say.

  36. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

    @oliviaoblivia: wow. This will possibly sound strange, but I'm jealous of your bladder. Mine must be the size of a pea, and it can make things difficult. Long road trips, movies at the theater--I have to be very strategic about what I drink. I tried to stop drinking water last night about an hour before bed time, and that seemed to help a little.

    @Cupcake: well, I've only told one friend so far, so I haven't heard that yet!

  37. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

    @Cupcake: I haven't gotten any of that yet (granted, we haven't really told any of the people we know who'd think like that) but it would infuriate me! After you deal with any kind of pregnancy-related struggle, I feel like those comments seem more and more insensitive. Like @SleepyMonkey: said, it's like everyone assumes you can just pick the day and time! Geez!

  38. Snowdrop

    pear / 1846 posts

    @Cupcake: i've only heard positive things so far (had to tell my work for safety) but that would really really drive me mad!

    Just got my maternity under bump jeans today in the post, they are so comfy on my bloated belly and hold up really well, just wish I had two pairs now. Though I do feel bad being in maternity jeans at 9 weeks, I think it makes financial sense over just buying a bigger pair which would probably fall down when I'm not bloated and get too tight really quickly anyway.

  39. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

    Boo. My doctor's office just called to say my urine came back with gbs bacteria meaning bladder infection and I get to take antibiotics.
