@pmrlady: It is really fun to find out at your anatomy scan, fwiw. I refuse to pay for any testing not covered by insurance.
persimmon / 1177 posts
@MrsTiger: glad the NT scan went well - too bad you weren't able to get any pictures!
@Mrs. Confetti: It sucks that they couldn't find the hb at your 12 week appointment either, but it's reassuring to hear that it's happened to others. It's silly, but I was almost relieved to see that the same thing happened to @MrsTiger today, I was still pretty wound up after my appointment.
@pmrlady: I've heard about the gender blood test, but I don't think my dr. offers it (and I know my insurance wouldn't pay). So I'm just looking forward to finding out around 20 weeks - it's a nice middle of the pregnancy thing to look forward to!

I just found out I have to go in for a 3 hour GD session at my hospital tomorrow from 1:30 - 4:30 and they want me to be there at 12:30 to pick up my monitor before the session. So driving there... and driving back and everything will probably be like 5 hours total of my work day.
The only offer them on Tuesdays and I am on vacation next Tuesday so this is it. I really can't make up the time so I had to *finally* tell my boss I was KU, because I wanted to request if I could take sick time for the half day or a least for a few hours. I'll try to make up as much time as I can but my boss what like no just do what you need to do and don't worry about making up hours. I really wanted to wait till after the NT scan but what can you do. Oh wells.

we had our first appointment on the 17th. everything looked good, we didn't get to hear the heartbeat but we saw our tiny rotisserie chicken with a flickering heartbeat.

@jojepie: Congrats! So glad your first appointment went well.
So many great updates! @Radish: so sorry about your infection. Ugh what a bummer.
Our trip was pretty good! I just realized how much my body changed over the weekend. I've definitely got a bump now and I'm exhausted. We were out late every night and up early in the mornings so it's taking me some time to recover. I heard the church announcement went well and I'm glad they did while I was away because ugh, anxiety. I get very overwhelmed easily by other people's reactions/questions because I don't like a lot of attention.
Bump photo because I shared the news on the blog today!
Hope you're all well!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@namaste: Cute bump! I also don't like the attention when people find out, so I let the news trickle down the totem pole and usually don't have to directly tell most people.
persimmon / 1313 posts
@Radish: Ugh same! This is exactly why I made the bff and her husband do it :P. I've only told less than 10 people directly, well not including the blog readers. I like having the news take care of itself.

@jojepie: glad everything looked good at your appointment!
@Raindrop: bummer about the GD testing
@namaste: yay for bump photos! So cute
Is anyone else taking bump pics? I'm going to try and do one this weekend- I'm not really showing yet, but in maternity clothes it looks like I have a bump!
Should we start a bump thread?
nectarine / 2079 posts
@charmed: last time I did 10 weeks, 20 weeks, 30 weeks and 39 weeks (day I delivered). It would be nice to hit those again this time.
persimmon / 1313 posts
@charmed: This is the first one I took because I know I'm not bloated ;P I think I will every few weeks or so/once a month? It's easy to just set up the tripod and give it a go. I support the bump photo thread!
persimmon / 1481 posts
@charmed: @namaste: I'm all for a bump thread! Who wants to start it?
pear / 1846 posts
@namaste: wow proper bump.
I had a bit of a scare today. It is quite silly really but i rang up to get my progesterone results (i have them every two weeks) and the receptionist said 'one zero two' by which I interpretted 1.02. Obviously this would have been catastrophic! Then i realised she meant 102. Why cant people say their numbers properly?!
persimmon / 1313 posts
@Happygal: I'll go gold for it! Thanks lady!
@Snowdrop: Oh no! That's pretty terrifying D: glad everything is ok!
blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts
@charmed: I have been totally delinquent about taking bump photos and I did a ton for my first. I am rationalizing by saying that I will once out of the first tri but geez I am huge already. And I totally failed getting a "before" pic like I did last time. But if someone did a thread for it, I suppose that would light my fire to start snapping.
cherry / 132 posts
@pmrlady: I just got a call from the lab today telling me I could find out the gender in my test results next week! I was shocked. Had to get the test as I have genetic conditions to worry about so am high risk, and my OB explained everything about the test so completely, except the part about learning the gender via blood test. I feel kind of freaked out and not ready to know just a week from now! Was happy to wait until 20 weeks, and thought we might even end up team green...but now if the info is right there, will I decline it?! Hmm...
Hope you ladies are all feeling good! I'm heading off to Europe for the trip I was so worried about right after BFP and feeling good - I think it'll be a fun time.
Oh - btw my next appt is 7/9 for NT scan.
Will check in on everyone when I'm back!
persimmon / 1177 posts
@Snowdrop: scary! Glad it was really 102!!
@MrsHansen82: @Mrs. Confetti: @namaste: I'll start a bump thread this weekend when I take pictures if no one else has started on by then. Sounds like most people would prefer if it was gold?
cherry / 132 posts
@happygal: @mrshansen82: I'd share on gold bump thread (although no bump to share quite yet, 11 weeks first pregnancy)
apricot / 316 posts
@Gigi2: oh that's so exciting! It's gonna be a hard decision to make to find out in a week vs staying team green. Have fun in Europe!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Gigi2: enjoy your stay on my side of the Atlantic
I'm not gold
But I'd still hang out with you guys here even though I cannot see the thread
My day today was a lot better than yesterday. I actually had to leave work early yesterday 'cause I was feeling all off and was feeling like I was gonna faint. No good...
Tomorrow I have to go back to the clinic with B and really hope they'll find some answers to his too high liver markers.
cherry / 132 posts
@pumuckl: good luck tomorrow with B! I hope the faintness goes away - that's been the worst part of pregnancy so far for me, daily terrible faint/lightheaded spells. Take care of yourself and rest and hydrate!
@pmrlady: thanks!! will do some thinking on the plane and try and figure out what we'll do next week!
persimmon / 1481 posts
@charmed: @Pumuckl: I wouldn't mind sharing on a non gold thread, I probably just wouldn't show my face. Either way is fine with me.
@Gigi2: Have fun in Europe!! I'm jealous, I can barely go to the grocery store without feeling like puking!
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
I can't keep up here!
we had a good NT scan today, baby was right on track and fun to see s/he moving around more and hear the heartbeat. I had thought we might do the Harmony test where you also find out the gender but we chose this instead. I did not get any great pics though, I feel like they were much better with #1.
only negative was that right now my placenta is anterior and I have some placenta previa. should hopefully resolve but until it does I'm on pelvic rest. but I'll take it for a healthy baby. and at least I haven't had any bleeding.

Quick update and will catch up later when DD is in bed!
Official due date is Jan 25! But they will be inducing me at 39 weeks, due to my history of precipitous labor. SO RELIEVED. Now to hope I don't go into labor earlier than 39 weeks!! So induction will likely be Jan 18. Should I update that in the list?
Here's baby, 10w3d my OB is awesome and even videoed the ultrasound screen for me with my phone.

@sorrycharlie: Yay for a great appointment! So glad you finally got to see your little baby.

@bhbee: Yay for a good update! How exciting!
@sorrycharlie: Ahh! How cute!
@Pumuckl: Hope everything is ok tomorrow So sorry you weren't feeling well.
I'm feeling pretty meh now but earlier I felt great and was able to walk downtown at the same pace I usually do which I haven't tried since I was pregnant.
nectarine / 2242 posts
@sorrycharlie: What a great pic and such a good idea to take video of it with your phone!
persimmon / 1177 posts
@bhbee: glad your NT scan went well! Hope the placenta previa resolves itself quickly.
@sorrycharlie: hooray for a good appointment, and tiny baby pictures!
I have been ridiculously tired today - I slept in almost 2 hours later than usual, then took an 1.5 hour nap this afternoon. And I could still go to bed now! Anyone else sleeping way more than usual?
pomelo / 5000 posts
@Gigi2: have lots of fun on your trip! I would love to be heading overseas to eat lots of good food right now.
@bhbee: yeah for good news! I was thinking about you yesterday. How are you liking your new OB?
@sorrycharlie: beautiful picture! Glad they have a plan in place for you. Plans always make me feel better.
@charmed: I'm usually the first one up, but my husband has beat me to it the last week or so. It's more that I feel crummy when I wake up, like I'm slightly hungover. I think it's b/c I'm going to the bathroom so much during the night! I've also given in to my 4:00 sleepiness and taken a nap the last few days, but I try to avoid it since it's so late in the afternoon.
@Pumuckl: I hope you have a good doctor's appointment today and they come up with some answers for you. Please let us know how it goes!
@namaste: I hope you continue to feel better! Do you work in the downtown area?
@charmed: yes, please start a gold bump thread! There can be two threads, and while I won't post pictures on the non-gold thread, I will certainly check in and comment! I still feel mainly chubby looking and not very bumpish.

@sorrycharlie: Yay! Congrats on a great u/s. Sounds like you might have this baby on my due date!
@bhbee: Glad everything went well!

@Happygal: Oh no, I work from home and was meeting another work from home friend for Starbucks! Just trying to stay active these days.
So I've lost four pounds total since my first appointment, which includes three since my last appointment last week. Not sure if I should be worried (probably not) or not. My jeans fit better than they did before I knew I was pregnant today but the bump is still there! I did get super sick last night after dinner and it was the worst I've been for a while. Ugh.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@namaste: I lost 7 lbs in the last 5 weeks.
I lost 25 lbs with my first. I was kind of worried by my OB said... babies are like parasites (I know not a great imagine there). They will take what they need so you don't have to worry about that UNLESS you are underweight and maybe there is not enough of what it needs in you.
I'm not sure if that is helpful, that is what my OB told me. I'm overweight so it was never an issue with me to loose weight.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@namaste: I lost weight with my first pregnancy, too. Similar to what @Raindrop: said, my OB told me the baby takes the first nutrients, so if anyone suffers, it's your own body, not the babies. I wouldn't worry about it unless your OB says something about it.

So, I told my boss this afternoon. I was so embarrassed that I was bright red and my other coworker was cracking up (she already knew), but I'm glad it's done.
