@Radish: yay for getting to see your baby
My next appointment is Tuesday and it will just be a quick check in and they'll check the heartbeat with the doppler. I am excited to hear the heartbeat, but since they couldn't find it with the doppler last time I am so nervous. I'm hoping that DH can come with me, but his work schedule has been crazy, so he probably can't.

@charmed: So quiet! I check this thread often, but lately have not had much to add. I have a lot of major things that need to happen before I can really start planning for baby. We are in the process of house hunting, so hopefully we will have a contract on a house soon. That is a giant check off of our list.
apricot / 495 posts
@charmed: yesterday's appointment was quite boring just checked the heartbeat- which was in the 150s. Baby's moving and shaking these days! Can't wait until august 20th!!! Why does it feel so much more real when you find out the gender??
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@charmed: It has been quite! I check here every few hours to see what's going on. Yeah I don't have too much to add either. I think we are just waiting for our anatomy scans.
@Cupcake: I think it's more real when you know gender so you can start buying things! Haha. I'm going to be so broke if we ended up having a girl. (we had a boy first so we don't really need to buy anything if it's a boy)
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Cupcake: It certainly still feels unreal for me. I think that even besides gender, when you get a big undeniable bump it becomes more real. Or consistent movement! All that starts happening around the same time. I denied the quad screen that would have told me gender (and only cost $25) and I'm kind of wondering if I should have. It wasn't something I expected to be so inexpensive since my insurance doesn't cover it, so I never really researched it and wasn't ready to make an on the spot decision without DH.

@Cupcake: I'm also ready to find out the gender like yesterday lol
I'm doing pretty good! Finally got out to the prenatal yoga class and it was sort of amazing.

I guess no news is good news Glad everyone is doing well!
Everything is pretty boring for me as well. I've started thinking about nursery ideas, but I'm a long ways off from being able to start on it. I work from home, and the room that is my office is going to be the baby's room. Before I start on the nursery I need to get my new office set up and figured out.

@Raindrop: @Cupcake: @charmed: My appointment went well yesterday. We just checked the heartbeat and she measured my teeny bump. We also set up my anatomy scan for August 21st. I'm so looking forward to that. My next check up is September 3rd. I love. My doctor so far. Every time we do an ultrasound or a heartbeat check she gets excited to show me which makes me feel like we're special even though she does this all the time.
I'm still struggling with some nausea and throwing up about once a day. I think it's fading though because I have less of the constant nauseous feeling. It's been a nice break so I'm hoping it continues to get better. I'm gonna go add my 16 week bump pic to our bump thread!
@namaste: I really want to try a yoga class. I have been feeling super stressed so I need something to relax!

No news here as well. Still feeling movement here and there, it's very slight though so I'm anxious for some real WHOA kicks.
I say that now... but for the entire last month of my first pregnancy, J was kicking me so hard that my coworkers could see my stomach jumping during meetings. Alien baby!!!
I did browse through the layette section of Janie and Jack a few days ago. I know their boy's line in and out, but I took a peek at the girl's stuff too - very precious! I feel almost certain that this LO is a boy though.
@Radish: My next appointment is July 29

I've been MIA, summers are so busy! Just had my 16 week check up and once again the doctor had trouble finding the heartbeat because baby was moving so much, pretty sure I am going to have my hands full with this kid!
This weekend we brought DD1 to Storyland in NH, we had a great time and I saw lots of families with teeny tiny babies...which made this start to feel more real.

Does anybody else get SO NERVOUS before checkups? I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I feel reaked out right now because of the combo of feeling okay + not a huge belly + no movement yet. I have an appointment on Thursday and I'm so terrified for some reason.
I'm ready to feel this little thing jumping around in there. (Yet another thing coming from a FTM that I'm sure I'll regret in no time...)
nectarine / 2079 posts
@mfa_lady: I hardly ever felt LO1 when she was in me. Only when she really pushed out where you could see and feel it from the outside. I *think* I may have felt this one a few times already. My dr thinks my placenta is not anterior this time, so I'm hoping to feel a lot more movement this time.
And yes, always nervous before an appointment.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Radish: This is so encouraging. Thanks, lady. It's nice to hear that everyone feels tons of movement all the time, and also that I'm not the only one who keeps getting nervous over and over again every time there's an appointment.
It's funny how I made up all these milestones for myself...."Oh, I'll feel so much more confident once I'm in the second tri--" but really, I'm just going to keep worrying and worrying! Note to self: must work on that.
nectarine / 2242 posts
@mfa_lady: With my first pregnancy that is exactly how I felt for appointments. I would be really excited for my next appointment, and then a few days before it I would just start panicking and freaking out. I also didn't feel her move until pretty late, like 26 weeks I think, which didn't help me feel reassured.
This time around I am way more calm about everything just because I'm not thinking about it 24/7 and I know what to expect.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@MrsTiger: So there's hope!! (For pregnancy number two, that is. )
And what you're describing is EXACTLY what I'm experiencing right now. I'm super pumped until just before the appointment, and then I get so anxious. Hopefully I'll have a good update to share on Thursday and can stop worrying, at least for another couple of weeks.

@mfa_lady: I've been nervous for my appointments starting the night before. My husband asked why I acted so differently at the doctor's b/c I guess I seem distracted. I told him I was nervous, and he thought I was intimidated by the doctor (who is all business). I explained that I was nervous about how the baby is doing, and he seemed a little surprised. Not surprisingly, we're experiencing pregnancy in very different ways!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Happygal: This is SO spot on. My husband is like "Babe, everything is fine! Your belly is bigger and the baby is growing!" It's kind of sweet, I guess, that even after our loss last fall he is just all faith and no worry. I wish I could get myself on that bandwagon.

it has been quiet around here, huh? no news is good news
I'm still in the rental car..I'm hoping my car will be done end of this week or early next week. I can't put my dog in the rental, and I'm used to a lot more cargo space, so I will be glad to have my car back
Our dryer went last night. Just as I was starting to think we were getting ahead!! always something..
and I found out I'm out of work at the end of August. I thought I had til December, but it's not a total shock. A little nervous but we'll make it work! I'm stocking up on diapers for #2 now, so hopefully by February I can start potty training my DD and ease the diaper sting

@sorrycharlie: Did you see that Pampers deal someone posted for Target?
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@sorrycharlie: Ugh, I'm so sorry about your dryer! Our dishwasher broke a while back, and with baby on the way we're finally hoping to buy a new one soon. Since it's been just the two of us, we've been hand-washing...but I'm thinking that's not going to be so fun come January.
And as for your job, I'm sorry that your timeline got moved up. You're so smart to start stockpiling now--sounds like you're as prepared as you can be and ready to roll with the punches. I'll be thinking about you!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@sorrycharlie: sorry to hear about your job. and your car, and your dryer. If bad things happen in threes you should be in the clear for a while.
We just got back from vacation. And the movers come tomorrow. Our new kitchen isn't done so we'll be camping for a while. Thankfully the house had kitchens to spare.
Looking forward to my anatomy scan in a week.
How's everyone doing? Nursery plans yet? Names?
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@oliviaoblivia: A week!! Wow! So exciting. Mine is in 17 days, not that I'm counting or anything...
I hope all goes smoothly with your move, too! So many changes on this board. We January mamas know how to do it!
We're waiting until the anatomy scan to really pin down nursery plans or names...although we mostly have a boy name picked out and can't agree on any girl names. (Which clearly means we'll be having a girl. Ha!) All I really know about the nursery so far is that I'd like to do dark gray walls. I've found lots of nurseries that are super cozy looking with the dark walls, and I think there are lots of fun ways to spice it up. We'll see if I change my mind on that, though! How about you?
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@MrsTiger: yup! just got home with the two boxes LOL. I have 8 boxes aside for the new baby..and doing the math, it should last maybe 4 months. ugh. I forgot how many diapers newborns use!!
@mfa_lady: ugh! we've never had a dishwasher..so I can tell you it's really not *too* bad unless you're bottle feeding - I gave up on pumping, so that saved a ton of dishes!
@oliviaoblivia: anatomy scan in a week!!!!! omg! we're thinking Lucas Michael for a boy. not positive yet though, I reserve the right to change my mind

@mfa_lady: I was a mess before my appointment this morning, especially since they couldn't find the hb with the doppler last time.
Thankfully I got to hear the heartbeat without any issues this time! Baby was moving around a lot, but the doctor said the hb was in the 145- 150 range.
Anatomy scan is scheduled for August 26 - so excited to see the baby again, and find out if it's a boy or a girl!

@charmed: Aw, yay! Just the kind of update I like to see. My midwife had to REALLY search for the HB at my last appointment (I was 13+2) but she did find it there in the office. I'm really hoping she gets it no problem this time around.
Thanks for updating the list! Love seeing all the anatomy scans scheduled. We're really getting there, y'all!!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@charmed: you cut my anatomy scan off the list I am glad you had no problem finding the heartbeat this time!
@mfa_lady: Yeah, each milestone just brings a new set of worries, really. Then you have the whole rest of their life to continue to worry.
@oliviaoblivia: I have a vague nursery idea, but names are the enemy. I just want the perfect names to appear before me and not have to put so much effort and energy into it. I guess I'm just too picky.
nectarine / 2242 posts
@oliviaoblivia: No name ideas, and only vague nursery plans. We'll find out gender in two weeks so will make better plans then.
One bonus is that we had painted the room that is going to be the new nursery a light green when we moved in (as a guest room), and I've decided to leave it that color for either boy/girl, so I have no painting to do! Woo hoo!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@sorrycharlie: I love Lucas!!
@Radish: I'm pretty willing to outsource naming. It's so hard! I loved DDs name so much how can I find something I love equally?
@charmed: glad you got to hear that heartbeat!
@mfa_lady: usually I have a ton of decorating ideas, but I'm so over designed with all the other choices I've had to make in the rest of the house I can't think about the nursery yet. Once the kitchen is done and we're more settled I'll get to work. We're waiting on the name debate too. Knowing the sex is half the battle.
