@SleepyMonkey: I hope this week flies by for you. Juliette is one of my favorite girl names! I think two bees know what they are having from their blood test, but they didn't post on this thread so I can't remember who.

I am so jealous of the early scans!! I was so hopeful for an early-in-the-week scan since my 18 week mark is on a saturday. but nope..they're making me wait til that thurs!!
I seriously contemplated paying a private place like we did with DD, but then our dryer went. womp womp.

@sorrycharlie: it is so weird, I didn't get an early anatomy scan with #1 but I guess since then, our hospital has made it standard practice.
@Radish: I know a woman who got the maternit21 test and so she knew she was having a boy at 12 weeks! Crazy. but she also said it was TOO much info. It tests for every genetic abnormality and so she knows that her baby has a duplication of a certain gene that could be serious but most likely be nothing at all. It gave her extra stress...without that test, she would have never known and it is likely to be absolutely nothing!

@SleepyMonkey: I keep going back and forth on the quad screening. I will probably get it done at my 16 week appointment.. I'd much rather find out gender at my actual anatomy scan, though.

So I just got back from seeing my doctor. Baby was not very cooperative and was sitting on its butt so it was hard to see. But we were able to get a glimpse between the legs and the doctor was pretty sure it's a girl
Hopefully the anatomy scan will get a better view and confirm it but we are very happy. Our top name so far is Sophie (not Sophia). It was nice to see the baby again after the NT scan which seems so long ago.
Can't wait till everyone else gets their scans!

@pmrlady: Yay! Luckily, you have a chance to confirm it sooner rather than later. So exciting!

Has anyone experienced any round ligament pains or other growing pains yet? Yesterday at work my groin and lower abdominal muscles hurt SO bad! The pain was gone when I sat down or bent over, but as soon as I stood up straight again, it hurt again. It was like I had pulled a muscle. It's better today , but was it painful! I work on my feet too so this was a very unpleasant shift.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@MrsHansen82: ohhh yeah. I had it with my first, and it's even worse this time! this morning I rolled over in bed and thought I tore a lower ab muscle. it was ridiculous. if I climb over the baby gate, move too fast, etc, it all stops me in my tracks. I didn't miss this part! haha!

@Radish: @oliviaoblivia: @MrsHansen82: @sorrycharlie: thank you!
@MrsHansen82: I have those pains sometimes too. I feel like my abdominal muscles are getting weaker by the day. I try to move slowly when I get up from the bed or couch.

@sorrycharlie: @pmrlady: Yes! I feel like I'm 90 the way I have to get up and sit down these days. I guess it's just part of the magic of motherhood!

@pmrlady: Congratulations! My gut feeling is that I'm having a girl, but we won't find out until this fat lady sings in January.
@SleepyMonkey: We're Team Green'in it as far as we can take it. DH continues to stare intently at the ultrasound pics to see if he can figure it out. Let's call him a reluctant Team Green'er.
@MrsHansen82: Not yet, but I did a couple of times my last pregnancy. Thankfully, I only had sciatic pain once in my last pregnancy as well. I'm hoping that stays away!

@MrsHansen82: yes! It's usually when I've been sitting for awhile and then stand too quickly, or at night if I roll over.

Okay, I know this is old news for lots of you--but I felt baby move last night! For the first time, I was certain it was him/her. It was down really low, as in, in no way related to digestion, haha, and felt like a weak pinch or muscle spasm. It happened a couple times and I told DH that I was pretty sure it was it...and then while I was saying it it happened again and somehow I just knew!
Now I hope this little nugget keeps moving around in there on the regular!

@mfa_lady: that is so exciting! I can't wait to experience that.
@MrsHansen82: yes. Waaah! It's mainly in bed if I switch sides too quickly.
@pmrlady: yeah! Sophie is such a sweet and pretty name. Congrats!
@SleepyMonkey: I used to think I wanted to be team green and my husband said I could probably convince him to wait. I just think the surprise must be great, and I love surprises!

Milestone for me--I wore maternity pants for the first time that a friend lent me. I went to a wine tasting with friends over the weekend, and when I declined drinking any, the owner of the shop pointed to my stomach and asked if I was pregnant! First time I've had a stranger me that. I was really glad I could answer "yes" b/c that could have been very awkward for everyone around if I wasn't.

@pmrlady: Congratulations!
@mfa_lady: Super exciting! This baby wiggles around every few hours. It's interesting to feel it!
@Happygal: My maternity jeans are my favorite thing!
Nothing new here, just feeling the baby move around a lot! It's been interesting and I probably annoy DH by telling him every single time but I can't help it, it's new to me lol

@Snowdrop: 18w4d today! It has made me feel a lot better about all of the horrible morning sickness I had, like hey this pregnancy thing is real.

@mfa_lady: @namaste: yay for baby movement! I've felt random taps here and there over last couple weeks but my first "yeah - DEFINITELY baby" today. I'm just over 15 weeks, much earlier this time around!! so much fun
@Happygal: yay! I seriously think the second tri is the most fun. feel better, look noticeably pregnant (after a bit anyway!), find out the sex if possible..

@SleepyMonkey: We are Team Green. Did it the first time with J, best moment of my life in the delivery room when we found out, I'm so excited to experience it again! That said, I will be jealous when everyone else is finding out and going out to buy beautiful little newborn clothes. Have to live vicariously until January Those are beautiful names you have in mind!
@namaste: Haha, I tell DH every single time too. For the past 3 weeks, at least 2-3 times each night. The kicks are getting strong enough for me that I've had him try to see if he can feel from the outside, but no dice yet.
@Happygal: And were you much comfier/ did you love them? I love my maternity shorts so much. Even my yoga pants are starting to feel uncomfortably tight.
@mfa_lady: Yay, love those first flutters! I didn't feel them for sure with J until 20 weeks right on the nose, but I'll never forget the moment I knew for sure he was kicking.
So glad we have so many active babes now!!!
@MrsHansen82: Yes to round ligament pain. I forgot how weird/shocking it is, especially when it first starts. Actually, speaking of that...
Am I the only one who is less comfortable in the second tri? The nausea and fatigue were pretty icky for a few weeks in the first trimester, but I was lucky and it wasn't too bad. Suddenly, though, I am a hot mess of symptoms that I don't remember hitting until super late in the third tri last time. Wicked heartburn and sciatica are the two worst ones. Plus, my boobs feel like they are bigger and heavier every day. Oh, and (TMI alert) hemorrhoids. Never had them while pregnant with J - but got them a few weeks after he was born. They went away quickly and I haven't had a problem with them since, until a few days ago. Because things aren't uncomfortable enough right now.

@oliviaoblivia: Good luck on the anatomy scan! Can't wait to hear about it.
I'm pretty sure I'm feeling movement although since I have nothing to compare it to, I'm not 100%. But I definitely feel a fluttering sensation intermittently throughout the day and it's always in the same spot so I'm inclined to think it's the baby and not just gas. Feels like something is swimming around very gently.

@keepcalmcarrie: seriously. This week I have an appointment with a maternal medicine specialist (for rhinitis), a maternal behavioral health NP for anxiety and depression and on Monday, an appt with the chiropractor (first time ever!) for sciatica, hip/back pain. Good lord. My husband keeps saying "but last time you were 8 months before a b or c!!"
@oliviaoblivia: ahhh what time?!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Happygal: Yes! At a shoot for work last night, I was sitting with one of the actors (it was super late) and she asked me if I was off caffeine because she'd been joking about a coffee run. I was all "Oh, no, not really," but it kind of caught me off guard. I think she could tell, because she said "So when are you due?" Haha. I guess even though to me I still just feel like it's a beer belly, it's getting more obvious.

@oliviaoblivia: WHAT TIME IS YOUR APPOINTMENT? I'm so excited for you! (And jealous. Totally jealous!)

@mfa_lady: that's so great!
@oliviaoblivia: excited to hear how your scan goes!
@namaste: @keepcalmcarrie: I was telling DH every time I felt movement, but he was feeling left out since it's not enough for him to feel yet. Can't wait till the baby is kicking and DH actually gets to feel it!
@keepcalmcarrie: sorry you're so uncomfortable right now!
I can definitely commiserate on the giant boobs - mine are ridiculous. Every time I think they've settled down and I can buy a real bra that will fit for a few weeks, they grow again.
@pmrlady: sounds like movement to me! Except for a couple quick jabs, everything I've felt is really smooth, rolling movements. I told DH baby is going to be a gymnast b/c it's tumbling around so much!

@sorrycharlie: @keepcalmcarrie: @charmed: Yay for baby movement! I think DH might become obsessed once he's able to feel kicks.
