@Radish: Plus we have to make sure we have time to drop off LO somewhere or wait for someone to come over. Adds another layer of uncertainty. Hopefully we will just "know" when it's time.

@Happygal: I'm sorry to hear that you have GD. I had it with LO#1 so feel free to use me as a resource if you have any questions about it. I was also told that I have GD during the holidays so I feel you!

How are you feeling? Heavier and slower. Heartburn has started up again and my sleep is totally wack. For some reason I am feeling more dehydrated than usual, but that could just be the weather here.

What is left on your to-do list for baby? We need to put the bassinet together, buy some diapers and wash some newborn clothes, but I'm not worried about it. I already started packing my hospital bag so that I could toss things in it as I remember them.

Stressed about anything? Not really with the pregnancy. I don't have GD this time around (yay!) but that doesn't mean I am binge eating cookies. LO#1 is currently sick so I am mostly preoccupied with that.

How many days until your due date? 85

Do you predict you will give birth early, on, or past due date? I have a feeling this one will be early even though LO#1 was born on his guess date.

Just had my 28 wk U/S to see if my placenta previa has resolved and it did! So that's good.

BUT LO is totally heads up so he's breech. OB said not to worry since it's my second it's very roomy in there and it's likely he will be in position for delivery.

In other news my OB and the U/S both told me what a good job I'm doing controlling my GD. It seems my weight gain and numbers are good and the fluids for the U/S are also very good. It's nice to be told you are doing well when you have to deal with GD!

@Raindrop: Woohoo, sounds like a great appointment!

@jojepie: I'm feeling dehydrated because I'm doing a terrible job at hydrating this time. It was much easier when I sat at a desk last time.

    grapefruit / 4731 posts

@Radish: Thanks! OB told me not to worry about the breech. She said I could start doing this yoga pose were you sit cross leg (Indian style) and lean forward to help, but usually the baby flips on it's own.

Hi guys - sorry I have been so MIA. Colin has been catching every friggin illness circulating preschool and between that and the "terrific twos"...ahem...I have been left with minimal energy over here.

How are you feeling? Surprisingly well, considering how lousy I felt through most of my first and second tri. My nausea is under control, PT is working wonders for my back and we finally sucked it up and bought a sound machine for us, which has helped me quite a bit (can't figure out why it took us 2+ years to do it). I definitely slowing down and starting to deal with heartburn, but eh, I was expecting it so it isn't such a huge deal.

What is left on your to-do list for baby? Finally convinced DH that we need to paint the nursery so I need to find someone to paint it. We aren't really buying anything or doing much else til baby arrives.

Stressed about anything? Still need to line up a couple more "back up plans" for big brother care during delivery/hospital stay. Our sitter will be on call and or neighbors have graciously offered overnight duty should it happen while c is asleep, and my parents will come in (from 6 hrs away) but I want to have a few more friends on stand by just in case.

How many days until your due date? 79. Yikes.

Do you predict you will give birth early, on, or past due date? Last time I was induced 12 days late so anything earlier will be a bonus.

    blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts

@Radish: I have also heard that cat/cow yoga poses help as do lots of squats. But we still have a lot of time.

@Raindrop: i think with my first, she was breech around 28-30 weeks. i was nervous that she wouldn't turn, but she turned by 32 weeks and i didn't even feel it.

i've been somewhat mia as well. work has been busy and i don't have time to HB as much after work because i'm busy taking care of #1 and a lot of the night is spent trying to get her to GO TO SLEEP. by the time she falls asleep, i'm ready for bed too.

How are you feeling? i'm ok. this pregnancy is way harder on my body than #1. i'm bigger, my hip hurts, i'm already waddling, everything is swollen...heartburn daily, having a hard time breathing, i can't eat a lot now, i pee when i sneeze. that being said, it really isn't that bad.

What is left on your to-do list for baby? pretty much everything. honestly we don't have a lot to do to get ready. she'll be in the pack n play in our room for the first few months, and she has all of #1's clothes/gear already.

Stressed about anything? nothing baby related. just work.

How many days until your due date? 77 i think. i'm 29 weeks today.

Do you predict you will give birth early, on, or past due date? past...they moved my due date up by a week based on baby's size and i'm skeptical about it. i was early with #1 by 5 days.

@SleepyMonkey: Nice info! I worry a lot and have been reading online that 97% of babies are head down at birth.

My OB did tell me that at our hospital it's actually rare to have a c-section for a breech baby because they almost always turn. Most c-sections are for babies with heads that can't fit through the birth canal (either by size or position) no matter how hard a mother pushes.

    @jojepie: guess date - I love that!

@Raindrop: glad you're appointment went well! Definitely cause for celebration!

I've been doing some of the stretches/exercises here a few times a week: http://spinningbabies.com/more-info/for-pregnancy/daily-activities
(Not because of a breech baby- not sure how my baby is positioned- but they're I think they're good for that too) I sit at a desk all day, so I feel like my lower uterus gets all smushed up and I'm always tight in my hips.

Had a stomach bug yesterday Thankfully I feel a lot better today, but I think I threw up enough yesterday to make up for not having morning sickness
It probably wouldn't have been so bad, but I kept drinking water b/c I was paranoid about getting dehydrated - then the water made me throw up more

@Happygal: So sorry to hear about your GD! I'm sure it'll be fine, especially as time is winding down. Here to support you!

@Raindrop: Congrats on such a god appointment!

@charmed: So sorry to hear about your stomach bug! Ugh, sitting all day gives me tight hips as well. I'm always doing something to stretch when I can.

Finally got to blog about my shower if you're interested! http://studio-404.com/2014/life/rustic-yellow-baby-shower

@Happygal: So sorry to hear about the GD, lady. I'm sure you can get LOTS of pointers from the Bees about how to manage it.

@Raindrop: So glad your placenta has resolved! I don't think this little girl is breech, but based on our first prenatal visit with our doula last night, she seems to be sunny-side up. She suggested lots of stuff to us from the same website that @charmed: referenced, but she also said no need to worry until about 36 weeks when they start running out of room.

@Mrs. Confetti: Welcome back! Hope Colin is starting to feel better!

    @charmed: Glad you're feeling better!!

@namaste: LOVE the blog post! So cute!

@charmed: i've been sitting cross legged on the settee and work chairs when my back aches and I've read that that is one of th good positions for getting baby right and for opening hips out.

@Snowdrop: Ooo I sit cross legged (as in criss cross applesauce, right?) all the time.

@namaste: Awesome shower. You look great!

32 weeks today and I'm definitely feeling it. I also think I'm coming down with a cold. Boo!

@Radish: like children do on the carpet at story time if that is what you mean? Yes, I've never heard anything about applesauce over here

  21. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@Snowdrop: haha, yes. It used to be Indian Style but that wasn't PC so they changed to saying criss cross applesauce (spoons in the bowl - hands in your lap) in schools.

@oliviaoblivia: things are good! I just can't believe how quickly time is flying by. It's November?!?

Thanks everyone for the cheering up--I know I'm in good GD company here at HB! Doctor's appointment

@charmed: someone else mentioned spinning babies to me--I'll have to check it out.

@namaste: I'm glad it was a good shower! Well, minus the crazy MIL part.....it looks like it was a lovely time.

@Mrs. Confetti: poor Colin. Man, kids are like little petri dishes! Hope the germs give you all a break soon.

Is it too soon to start setting up baby gear? I'm in crazy nesting mode and really want to get our swing / bouncy seat out of storage and re-assembled!

I can't remember when I did this last time around.

I just placed a big Amazon order for the few remaining big things I need using the 15% registry discount, totally forgot about that savings until this week!

  24. Happygal

    pomelo / 5000 posts

@HappyBaker: I don't think so! Babies do come early. If you get things set up, you can have a feeling like things are taken care of.

  25. Mrs. Confetti

    blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts

@HappyBaker: getting big sib ready will be easier with the gear out too ... This will be where the baby plays, these will be his ____, etc.

  26. HappyBaker

    nectarine / 2242 posts

@Mrs. Confetti: Good point, I have a feeling DD is going to want to try her old gear out!

  27. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@HappyBaker: I set it all up. LO has been sitting in the bouncer, jumping in the crib (which was hers like 2 months ago) and playing with all the baby toys and gear so hopefully it will give her a chance to explore everything and be bored with it by the time baby comes. It also gives me an opportunity to talk more about baby sister with her.

  28. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Radish: @HappyBaker: @Mrs. Confetti: Good idea to get the gear out early but then we live in a small apartment and I have no idea where I'll put it once the baby gets here so getting it out now will make it even more complicated... So I guess I'll just sit it out once baby is here.

    How's everyone feeling?
For me things are getting more uncomfortable (not that it's unexpected) because baby is sitting so high. I think I'm officially in the "eating only mini portions" part of pregnancy now. Really looking forward to my appointment tomorrow so see the little one although all the worrying has slowly subsided since I can feel baby moving all over all the time (still doing summersaults a lot).

  29. HappyBaker

    nectarine / 2242 posts

Setting up the gear went great! We played in baby brother's room all weekend and she put her stuffed animals in the swing / bouncer, I was really surprised how well she did and how much she seemed to get it that everything is for the baby and not for her. We also saw our friends 2 month old last night and DD was sooo great with him / in love with him, I have hope that this might actually go well haha.

  30. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@HappyBaker: Oh yeah! Glad to hear how well she handled everything. I'm always glad to see that my LO also does really well around younger kids too. I'm just hoping it'll be the same once the baby doesn't go "home/away" anymore...

  31. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@Pumuckl: Same here on the high baby discomfort. I find myself breathing really differently when I stop to notice it, and no matter how hungry I am I feel like I can only take a few good bites at a time before I feel like a whale. I got a little freaked out last week because my fundal height (I know, dumbest measurement ever) was a little behind at my appointment, and so now I'm analyzing my belly all day every day. Everyone keeps telling me they can't believe I'm as far along as I am, and it's starting to freak me out. I know she's in there moving and grooving all day, but I also only gained like half a pound in the last two weeks between appointments, so the worrier in me is trying to get out. Anyway, even though I'm not huge, I'm big enough that getting socks on this morning was quite a challenge. Haha! How is everyone else feeling?

  32. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@HappyBaker: That sounds like it went perfectly! So glad to hear it!

  33. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@mfa_lady: Yeah I knew it was coming from last-time around. I hardly gained any weight in the last trimester with B so I tried to make sure to put enough on in the first and second trimester this time. He was 8 lbs 7 oz and 22.5" at birth so he definitely got all the nutrients he needed to grow, so I'll not worry too much this time

  34. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@Pumuckl: That is SO good to hear. I'll have to work on lots of good foods (in small amounts!) to keep gaining weight, but I really appreciate hearing your success story. I'll try to keep it in mind when I start getting freaked out!

  35. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@mfa_lady: feeling enormous. I've been feeling great to to this point and now fell too big and depressed because I know how much bigger I'm going to get. Kinda freaking out about another large baby. I took a bump pic last week to compare to last time and I'm definitely bigger. I hear you on the putting on socks problem. I have a pair of ugly skip on shoes that are the only ones I can wear by myself these days. I'm over pants. Considering wearing yoga pants to work for the next month.

  36. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@oliviaoblivia: YES. Pants have become my worst enemy! Like I said, I'm not even THAT big, but my jeans are killing me by the end of the day. I feel bad for my poor husband--I put on my pajamas the minute I walk through the door from work. Ha!

  37. MapleMoose

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

@mfa_lady: People keep saying they can't believe how big my belly is. I keep telling myself I have a short torso so there isn't much room there to begin with, but still... Everyone told me that last time too though so I guess I just carry it all in my belly. And I've been having to tie my sneakers by propping my foot up on something like a chair for weeks now. This belly is out of control haha

ETA: Last time I ended up losing weight in the 3rd trimester because I just couldn't eat much or else I felt sick and got heartburn. Baby was a healthy 7-something pounds.

  38. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@MapleMoose: Ugh, the heartburn. I actually just emailed my midwife last night to see what she wanted me to take for it--because it's keeping me from eating and sleeping. I have trouble with heartburn even when I'm not pregnant...because I have a loose/weak esophageal sphincter muscle. (I know, isn't that the grossest-sounding thing ever? Basically just means that the cap at the top of my esophagus doesn't close properly.) But it's been ridiculous lately. And I have a feeling it's not going to go away anytime soon!

  39. MapleMoose

    grapefruit / 4213 posts

@mfa_lady: My dad actually has that and suffers from chronic heartburn/reflux too so I'm familiar with the term (still sounds funny though lol). I get a little glimpse of what you guys go through while I'm pregnant and man, that is no fun!! The other night I had soup for dinner but I ate later than usual. I had to sleep almost upright with a bunch of pillows propped up behind me because it just kept "revisiting" yuck!

  40. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@MapleMoose: Yes, exactly! If I don't prop myself up almost every night, I wake up with that icky acid-y taste in my mouth. It's the worst. And even water or tea will do it to me--so I'm hoping that my midwife will give me some pointers on what to take/how to manage it a little better. Ugh!
