@mfa_lady: Hope she replies back soon -- and with something good.

@MapleMoose: three nurses in L&D commented on how huge my belly was last time. Way to make a lady feel good.
@mfa_lady: I have to sleep with my head propped up and a jar of Tums on my nightstand. Heartburn sucks. I hope your mw has a good remedy for you.

@oliviaoblivia: I have Tums on my bedside table, too! Haha. Pregnancy is so glamorous. I finally broke down and emailed the MW because I was going over the recommended number of Tums per day. Ugh! I'm sure she'll just have me start Zantac or something, but I wanted to get her recommendation before I just started on something. Blah. I'll let you know what she says!

@oliviaoblivia: They should know better! More than once I had women at the supermarket or a store ask if I was carrying twins. I feel your pain.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@MapleMoose: I can't even tell you how many times I got the twins question. Once from a dad in our birth class. The instructor chewed him out. My baby was the size of two babies though so I guess it makes sense.

@MapleMoose: @oliviaoblivia: I think y'all will appreciate this--I was in a wedding a few weeks ago with a girl who IS having twins, due on January 7th. She and I were riding together on the way to the "getting ready" site, and we decided to stop for snacks (obviously). Clearly, she was a good bit bigger than me, despite that fact that we're due the same week.
Anyway, the grocery bagger lady commented on how we were both pregnant, and we were all like "Yep, sure are, yadda yadda," and she asked us how far along we were. My friend goes "Seven months." The woman's eyes got huge and she said "BOTH OF Y'ALL?" And my friend just stared at her and said "Yep, both of us." No explanation, completely straight face, just "Yep, both of us." It was kind of awesome. (Insert nonexistent thumbs-up emoticon here.)

@MapleMoose: right?! It's not like he wasn't living with a pregnant woman and didn't know how sensitive belly size can be.

@mfa_lady: Hahahaha take that grocery store clerk!
@oliviaoblivia: Exactly! Wonder if his wife/partner let him have it later lol

As suspected, MW suggested Zantac. My husband usually keeps some on hand, so I'll start trying it out either tonight or tomorrow (do you only take it once a day? I'm not sure) and see how it works. Anything to be able to LAY DOWN again instead of sleeping sitting up!

@Pumuckl: Ugh also in the mini-portions phase here and my baby isn't high at all. I've actually been nauseous and sick once a day for the past four days. I'm trying to figure out what I can keep down and how much of it stays.
@mfa_lady: I didn't gain any weight in between appointments (3 weeks) and my nurse totally judged me for it but I'm measuring fine fundal height wise. I get the "oh you're not 8 months." almost every day. Someone from church actually looked at my back to check for weight gain? Pregnant women can't win with people. You're either too small or just ginormous.

@mfa_lady: Aw heartburn sucks!
I have an embarrassing story. I actually never had heartburn till I conceived LO #1 (it was the first sign I was pregnant actually), I didn't know I was pregnant and I work up in the middle of the night with what felt like a heavy rock sitting on my chest.
I thought I was getting sick it was the middle of the night so tried taking a bath... didn't help... I tried laying down with some warm water... didn't help... I took some Advil ... didn't help.
Finally I woke up my husband and I told him I'm pretty sure I'm dying. We called the nurses hot line and told her all my symptoms - I believe I was being a bit over dramatic and seriously thought I was dying and she paused for a bit and said "I think you have heartburn..." and suggested things to treat heartburn. BAM felt better right away.
Neither DH or I have had heartburn before... so boy were our faces red when we found out it was such a common thing.
Funny thing... I have never had heartburn since.

@namaste: Yeah, I measured 30 weeks for fundal height at almost 32, which I've read (see? I can't keep from worrying...ugh) isn't a bad gap at all since fundal height is such a wonky measurement anyway. I'm glad I'm not the only one hearing that I'm not "big enough," yadda yadda. I also still feel like I grow during the day, big time. I'm so much smaller when I first wake up, and just expand all day long. Haha.

@Raindrop: I love this so much. Haha! Mostly because I feel like I'd totally do the same thing....

Just got back from my appointment and the news were pretty mixed: on the one hand little lady is doing just fine albeit breech - she's also not quite as long and big as her brother was so that's interesting too. On the other hand my cervix was pretty short so he put me on bed rest (I'm supposed to lay down as much as possible) not good. It's gonna be some long 10 weeks...
nectarine / 2242 posts
@Pumuckl: Oh no, I'm sorry you have to be on bed rest :-(. How do they measure your cervix length? An ultrasound?
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Pumuckl: that sucks! I'm so sorry you're having to spend the next few weeks in bed.

@Raindrop: haha!
@Pumuckl: Uh oh, how are you going to take care of your LO1?
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Pumuckl: Oh no! I'm so sorry. That sucks. Hope it goes by as quickly as possible. Do you have anyone to help with LO?

@mfa_lady: I was 6 months pregnant at Christmas with the boys, and people were seriously looking at me like my water was going to break on their shoes at any given moment. I was so sick of the "Oh, you're having a Christmas baby!" comments.

@Mrs. Blue: @MapleMoose: since I'm allowed to get up for short amounts of time and am just supposed to take it easier I hope we'll be ok for now. He's in fulltime daycare so that helps. Daycare is just a 5 minute drive from home. I guess he'll just have to walk a lot more than now. Usually in the evenings he likes to snuggle up to me after daycare and be carried. So no more of that I guess.

@Pumuckl: Bummer! I'm surprised they didn't also do an ultrasound to confirm the length before putting you on bed rest.

@Pumuckl: Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about the bed rest! I'll be thinking of you!

@Mrs. Blue: Same exact thing happened to my cousin's wife this summer at church--except she was only growing one. Haha. It was number 2, though, and she just gets a really big belly with her babies! Anyway, one of our greeters at church said to her "Don't worry, August is almost here!" one Sunday morning in July. She gave him the staredown--her due date was mid-October.

@Radish: yeah I guess it was obvious so he didn't find it necessary. Oh well at least it's not a strict bed rest.

@mfa_lady: I have been having terrible heartburn in the third trimester. At first it was controlled by TUMs but now I have to take Zantac. It works pretty well but only if I take it before I actually get the heartburn, so I try to take it every morning.
@Pumuckl: Sorry you have to go on bedrest but it's good that it's not completely strict.
I am getting random aches and pains. Whether it's my legs, butt, or back, something always seems to be hurting =(
6 more weeks until I get vacation from work, can't wait!

@mfa_lady: Heartburn, ugh. I have found that if I take a Pepcid AC first thing in the morning, before I've even had water, it is a complete game changer. Like nearly zero heartburn all day.
blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts
@Pumuckl: So sorry a bout the bed rest - what a bummer!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@pmrlady: @Mrs. Confetti: Yes, I'm trying this tomorrow. I'm taking Zantac 75 (which means I can take 2 a day), so I'm going to take one first thing in the morning and another when I get home from work. Last night taking one helped a lot, and today I tried to get through the day without taking one and it wasn't wise. I think I just need to bite the bullet and realize that I really need it and should just try to prevent as best I can!
blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts
@mfa_lady: No shame in taking something daily/twice a day. Hope it really helps!!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Mrs. Confetti: You're right! Like I told my midwife--when it's keeping me from eating and sleeping, it's time to do something about it. Zantac, meet your new best friend: ME.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@mfa_lady: @pmrlady: @Mrs. Confetti: Totally with you on the raging heartburn. I take Pepcid, like Confetti said. It makes life almost bearable. I say take as much as you need of whatever your doc has okayed!

Just had my growth scan..
They think 9 pounds +/- a pound.
Hooray!! Kinda weird to be celebrating a still pretty large baby, but she's not going to have to go by Bertha!!!

@oliviaoblivia: hooray! And wait..9 lbs NOW? Or estimating when she's born??
pineapple / 12793 posts
@sorrycharlie: just under six pounds now. So estimating nine for delivery.
