@Raindrop: ohmygosh, ha! So, uh, tin means "tin".
We don't have one, but we don't have a lot of things all the way up here! That reminds me, I have to give DH the final shopping list for Thanksgiving this week! I think we'll do a pumpkin pie and my grandma's super old school chocolate pie.

The Snoogle pillow has really helped me with the painful sleeping! I know we are at the end so its crazy to buy one at this point, but I'm borrowing one from a friend - I'd definitely recommend it. The first night or two still were uncomfortable but the last couple I haven't had any hip pain and have actually woken up and felt "comfortable" at night instead of groaning and wincing.
@Raindrop: That pie looks amazing! We don't have any Marie Callendar's here / I didn't know it was an actual place (we just have their frozen food in the supermarket here)
I ordered my breast pump yesterday - I ended up paying $80 to upgrade to the Freestyle but I thought it was worth it since I have one already and since I'm planning to EP I can just interchange all the parts between the pumps. The process was really easy though!

@Raindrop: DH brined our turkey the last few years and it was delicious! And that pie looks amazing
@pmrlady: glad your baby shower went well!
@HappyBaker: I would not be surviving without my pregnancy pillow! (got a Bump Nest around 20 weeks) I stayed at a hotel out of town a couple weeks ago and didn't have my pillow- I was miserable all night
I've been stalking baby sales to get a good deal on some of the more expensive stuff we need (not anticipating anyone will buy them for us) - and I bought our pack and play, convertible car seat, and stroller over the weekend (saved over $300 between the three items!! I'm feeling a little more relaxed now that we have the big stuff taken care of.
I have another baby shower this weekend, so we should be in pretty good shape as far as baby gear goes!

Good morning! Glad everyone's getting ready for the holiday and doing well, minus the uncomfortable sleeping. I totally hear you--for me, it's not so much hip pain as heartburn...even with the Zantac, I wake up with, well, an unpleasant taste in my mouth unless I basically sleep sitting up. It's the worst!
We bought a nursery chair this weekend from this awesome local furniture warehouse...since I waited so long, it won't get here until AFTER baby girl does, but that's okay. My mom has a wooden rocker I can borrow until it comes in!
I also woke up in the middle of the night last night with a terrible cramp on one side of my belly...it wasn't until this morning that I realized it might have been/probably was a BH...but I just drank some water, stretched out a little, and breathed through it and was okay.
I'm feeling SUPER pumped about the short week this week...anyone else?
nectarine / 2242 posts
@mfa_lady: Definitely pumped for the short week - I feel like the next two months of work are going to DRAG by!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@charmed: Whoa, sounds like you got some awesome deals! I am going outlet shopping with my mom next weekend (maybe a bad idea at 36 weeks pregnant, but I'm rolling with it) and am hoping to find some good stuff, too.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@HappyBaker: I only have ONE month of work left when we get back next week (my due date is a month from next Wednesday), assuming she comes on time (I'm sure she won't, haha). I can hardly believe it--but I'm up to my neck in client projects until I go out on maternity leave, which I kind of love. I think it'd be way worse to be sitting around bored! I think that's the only reason I feel like it's moving quickly!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@HappyBaker: glad the Snoogle is helping you sleep better. To me the $80 would have totally been worth it too. Love my Freestyle (well as much as you can love a pump )
@charmed: wow, $300 off is really good! Glad you feel like you have most things together now.
@mfa_lady: sorry your heartburn is still not getting any better. I had a terrible time with it yesterday. It's one of the reason why I really wanted to have my weight gained by the end of the 2nd trimester because the only thing that will keep it at bay for me is to not eat much.
Other than that I am crazy bored from hanging out / laying on the couch all day. Just hope Christmas is here quickly so I can relax my bedrest some. I was helping with Christmas cookie baking on Saturday quite a bit and overdid it a little and was just feeling awful. Tomorrow I'll have another NST. Little lady is still breech. She had turned on the weekend for like maybe 6h but is back to sitting on her button now.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Pumuckl: I'm going to know that for next time, too--I'm gaining okay (about a pound a week, even though not consistently--think 4 lbs in 2 weeks, 0 lbs in the next 2 weeks, 2 lbs in the next 2 weeks) but eating is pretty miserable. My arms look like sticks--I think she's sucking all the nutrients out of everywhere because I can barely swallow any food! Hope you can rest up and not be too bored in the next few weeks, lady!

Can't believe some of the December babies are here already, makes it seem so real!
We basically have everything for the baby now, just need the dresser to be delivered and painted then we can start washing and setting it all up.
What is left on everyone else's to do lists?
apricot / 316 posts
@mfa_lady: I am really happy about the short week especially since I usually only get Thursday off but this time I have both Thursday and Friday off.
I have these random hard spots in my belly, I think it might be her back or butt but it shifts around. It's kind of fun trying to figure out what I'm feeling.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Snowdrop: It does, doesn't it? We're hosting my in-laws for Christmas, and so I'm just hoping I don't go early (or at least not too early!) haha. Just need to get through the 26th or 27th and then I'm good to go!
@pmrlady: Yes! I feel like my belly is all baby, because I see every single move she makes. Last night I was sure I saw a footprint on the side of my belly, but since nobody was there to validate it I thought maybe I was crazy.

At my dr appt today my doctor wasn't sure if she was breech or not. She felt what might be a head at the top and bottom of uterus. So if she still isn't sure they will do an ultrasound to check at 36 weeks. She also said she doesn't write prescriptions for breast pumps until your 2 week postpartum visit since milk doesn't always come in - but she will prob give me one at 36 weeks since I had no trouble with LO1.
@Snowdrop: The only thing left on my to-do list is sterilize my pump parts/bottles. I have everything else ready for the most part.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@pmrlady: I still have tons to do but then it's still 8 weeks until I reach my due date. Need to get the onesies and cloths little lady will reuse washed, the crib setup and our carseat, bouncer etc. out of the attic. Oh and we'll have to figure the name thing out...
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Snowdrop: Hmm...there are quite a few things on my list, but really a lot of them fall into the FINISH THE NURSERY category. The bedrooms in our house are REALLY small, and so she'll be in her room from the beginning. (Basically, she'll be right across a tiny hallway and with both doors open, it'll be like we're in the same room. Yeah. That's how small they are. Haha!)

@HappyBaker: I had to bust out my snogged last night! Still had an awful nights sleep... I'm a little behind most of you guys because I'm due later in the month but now I understand. I totally forgot about this with my first LO!
@charmed: Wow that sounds like you got some good deals. With LO #1... I was all over kids.woot.com and got some great deals. I actually haven't looked at it for a long time... we got our pack and play for like 60 bucks (it was only one option but it was teal/grey and we were cool with that) and our baby monitor for 40 dollars back in the day.
@mfa_lady: Yay short week. I also have about a month left at work because of my company shut down! We get about a week and half off for the holidays and my leave starts pretty much right at the tail end of that holiday shut down time.
@Pumuckl: My little man is also tumbling! I swear he's doing flips. Every other day it feels like he's head down... and then goes back to breech. Of course I'm just guessing... I actually have no idea what's going on in there... it just feels like that's what he's doing based on where I feel his hiccups. Little guy go head down and stay there! I believe he's breeched now since I felt some hiccups last night above my belly button.
@Snowdrop: I know some December babes are out! That's just crazy. Pretty ready... didn't do anything since we have basically everything. Just need this little guy to be head down and we are good to go.
@Radish: One of those must be the butt right? The head can't be at the top and bottom... unless your LO was flipping during the appointment! Haha.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@Raindrop: haha, yeah she just wasn't confident by feel alone which was the head. She really didn't spend that much time feeling, I think she figures there is still plenty of time.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Radish: I'm so impressed with how ready you are! I still have to pick paint colors for the nursery and get the guest room ready for my parents.
20 work days left for me until mat leave... Crazy!!!
nectarine / 2079 posts
@oliviaoblivia: haha, and I still have the most time left unless she makes an early appearance! I feel a little silly having my hospital bag (mostly) packed so early
grapefruit / 4213 posts
Eek! With the holidays here time is going to fly by and we will be popping 'em out before we know it! We still have to pick a boy name (Team Green), buy a few gender neutral outfits, and things that I won't do until January like install the carseat and pack the hospital bag and LO's overnight bag. At least that's all I can think of off the top of my head right now.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
@MapleMoose: We can't think of a boy name to save our lives!
I guess I have 57 days of work left, since we scheduled our c-section date. I pray this little babe stays nice and cozy until then, because we have no plan B! Since I never went into labor with E, I'm crossing my fingers.
I missed all the pregnancy pillow talk, but I have the most obnoxious pillow, and it is perfect. My friend gifted it to me for my first, and it is like having 2 extra people in bed with you, but I love it more than my luggage.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@MapleMoose: Boy names are so hard. Right now we are between Jacob, Elijah, Thomas, and Austin... Who knows if we will change that list any day! Haha.
@Espion: LOL. The snuggle is pretty big too. DH complains that he has to be at the very edge of the bed when it's in there with us.
persimmon / 1313 posts
@Raindrop: It was great! It was the second shower so we pretty much have everything minus the stroller. I'm just glad that if I went into labor today, I'm ok! That pie looks amazing!
@pmrlady: So glad your shower went well!
@HappyBaker: I just ordered my pump today. So excited for it to come!
@mfa_lady: Sorry to hear your heartburn isn't getting any better.
@Snowdrop: I really just need to finish the nursery this week which I would have been near complete had it not been such a hectic day.
nectarine / 2242 posts
@namaste: so I called to order mine yesterday and it was already delivered today! Talk about customer service! If anyone is in MA - Cambridge Medical Supply is awesome.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@namaste: Nice! You won't need a stroller for a while if you decide to baby carry / wear.
Speaking of that pie... I was casually discussing it with a co-worker of mine at the water cooler. She went back to her desk... looked it up... and ordered one too! Even though she already had dessert plans for Thanksgiving. Haha. She e-mailed me just now to tell me that's what she did. She's totally making her husband pick it up tomorrow after work!
apricot / 316 posts
@Snowdrop: I still have a bunch of stuff to buy that were not bought from our registry. We are planning to go to buy buy baby on friday to get a lot of it. I ordered my breastpump today so excited to be getting that. And we still have to assemble a few important things like the bassinet!
I'm not sure which bottles to get. I ordered the Avent infant starter gift set, but I will not get more Avent until I know if the baby likes it. I also heard Dr. Browns were good so maybe I'll get at least one of those.
I had my Ob appointment today. Nothing exciting but she did say that my next appointment will be in 2 weeks and then it will be weekly after that AND she will start doing internal exams next time...everything seems to be going really fast now...
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@pmrlady: OMG I just had bottle nightmare flashbacks.
Honestly ... I would get one of each bottle that you like and see what works for you. We bought green bottles online for cheap but the way LO drank from it... made it leak! We checked it a billion times and it was just the way he sucked at it. I had to throw the ones out we were using and sell the left over ones... I bought a lot like 12 bottles because of the sale.
Most of the time it was all about the nipples... LO was a crazy fast and hard sucker and it was hard to find a bottle that had nipples that could handle that... eventually we had to just buy nipples and put it on bottles we had... but luckily we were able to switch to sippy cups and other things after a while.
I still have nightmares about that time... *shudders*

Oh my gosh, everyone sounds so prepared for baby! I am NOT - we still need to order the crib, get the infant bucket seat back from my parent's condo in Florida (they're going down right after Thanksgiving so they'll ship it back up), wash all J's old newborn clothes for LO#2, buy a new swing and bouncer (we stupidly sold our old ones right before we found out I was pregnant)... the list goes on and on. I don't think we will have a girl's name decided upon until after delivery, if LO does turn out to be a girl. Oh well.
Found out at my most recent appointment that I have an anterior placenta. No one mentioned it before now, and I swear I felt kicks starting at 14 weeks, so I'm really surprised. That does explain, though, why this LO's kicks haven't been as painful as J's - more roll-y, less jabby.
Baby is also looking pretty large, measuring 9 days ahead. The tech guesstimated 9+ lbs for a full-term delivery, so kind of scary. I continue to feel like a beached whale
nectarine / 2242 posts
Just finished my alphabet print wall (finally). I've been trying to figure out the best way to hang them up but decided to just use twine and clothespins - what do you think?
They're hung a little weirdly high because I don't want him to be able to reach them (in my daughter's room I ended up having to take down what I hung over her crib)
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: They guessed my first LO was going to be 8-9+ but he ended up being 7.5 lbs! So techs can be wrong!
@HappyBaker: Wow those are awesome prints! I think the clothes pin idea is awesome! I think for me... I would probably spread them out more... maybe even on different walls? They just seem a little bunched up. But that's just me. They look great just they way they are though!
nectarine / 2242 posts
@Raindrop: Thanks, yea the size is so much bigger than I thought! Maybe I'll just do one strand on each wall or something, that's a great idea.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@HappyBaker: I really do love those prints... they have like a techy vibe / modern feel to them. Very cool!
You have great taste!
persimmon / 1096 posts
@HappyBaker: So cute!! I love how that turned out.
@Raindrop: I know they can be way off on those estimates, the tech even said so at the appointment (probably in reaction to my expression, haha). I guess I'm just mentally preparing myself. According to my mom, I was a skinny first born baby, but my brothers were whoppers. J was long and skinny, but this baby (or, rather, my belly) feels so much bigger at this stage, so I won't be that surprised. I hope for another 7.5 pounder though! Recovery was easy.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@mfa_lady: whoa! I can't believe you're due date is only a little more than a month away. That sounds so quick!
@keepcalmcarrie: we're not prepared, either! DH did get baby stuf down from the attic and I washed one load of clothes and sterilized a few bottles and pump parts, but that's pretty much all we have done. We don't even have a crib yet, but I figure he'll sleep in the rock'n'play in our room for the first few weeks, so I'm not too anxious yet! As for ultrasound estimates, I have ZERO faith in them after our experience last time, so hopefully your LO is really going to be a bit smaller than that!
Everything is going fine pregnancy-wise here, other than the general "how the heck am I going to do this with another 7 weeks of baby growth" kind of feelings and uncomfort going on. I seriously have no idea how I survived last time since I was already measuring full term by this point. I guess time really does fade the miserable parts! My next appointment (Dec. 5) I when they'll do the ultrasound to see if my placenta has moved up.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
persimmon / 1481 posts
Wow so much going on here ladies! I'll give you a little update on us! We're going to my parents house for Thanksgiving and I'll be making some apps. I'm not looking forward to everyone fawning over my belly and wanting to touch. I always thought I would love getting the attention from being pregnant, but it really just makes me uncomfortable.
DH and I were in Labor and Delivery last week for Braxton Hicks contractions that were coming every 2 minutes!! When the triage doctor checked me I was already 1cm dilated! They let me go since the contractions didn't cause any more dilation in the few hour that we were there.
I'm done working now, so I've had a LOT of time on my hands. I've been doing lots of Christmas and nursery crafts and taking a lot of naps. My shower is on December 6th so hopefully after that I'll get to finish setting up the nursery. I can't believe how close we all are!! I suspect we will be seeing some December arrivals soonish!!
persimmon / 1177 posts
@HappyBaker: those prints are adorable!
@Mrs. Blue: I don't know how twin mamas do it! I'm feeling overstuffed here with one baby at 33 weeks
@MrsHansen82: glad the Braxton Hicks contractions didn't turn into anything more!
We had our third childbirth class this week, and got to take a tour of the hospital. I was happy to see how nice the labor/delivery and recovery rooms were - apparently the "Birth Center" at our hospital was redone about 5 years ago so everything is nice and new-ish.
PSA Amazon has some good deals on Graco stuff if anyone is looking: http://tinyurl.com/kunczzd (That's where I got my pack and play)
pear / 1846 posts
@charmed: right where you are with the classes! We had our tour last night. The labour ward and postnatal ward were both very nice as far as hospital wards go but the birth centre was amazing, it looked like a spa! Even had a fake 'starry night' ceiling over tge birth pools that twinkled. So relaxing!

@Mrs. Blue: I know! It's totally crazy. When I think about this baby being here in a month(ish), I am excited and scared and overwhelmed and excited some more. We have SO MUCH to do before she gets here. Haha!
@MrsHansen82: So glad the BH didn't turn out to be anything!
@charmed: Our L&D wing was just redone, too! The postpartum rooms are still kind of crappy, but we hopefully won't have to stay too long anyway.

@pmrlady: LO1 was not picky about her nipples, but I LOVE comotomo bottles (the 5 oz) because they are so easy to clean.
@HappyBaker: I think it looks great!
@MrsHansen82: I'm glad it ended up being false labor and now you are super prepared for when it is real go time.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@Mrs. Blue: I have an appointment on Dec 5th too! Good luck on yours!
@MrsHansen82: Wow scary! I'm glad you got discharged. Baby stay in there! Fun to look forward to a baby shower!
