@MapleMoose: Witch hazel has been on my shopping list and I keep forgetting because of the padsicles!
My pump shipped today! Hooray! Still having BH on and off again today and tons of movement from this little lady.

@mfa_lady: Yes ma'm. I woke up with two wet spots and there was no denying what had happened! Bra inspection shows that I also leak some during the day. Sheesh.

@Happygal: Oh, man. Here we go, I suppose! Now I'm kind of fascinated...I want to know exactly when this leakage is occurring. Ha!

@mfa_lady: I know. I guess things just getting rubbed?
Here's another new night time activity: drooling. Lots of it. Anyone else a drooly monster? I'm telling you--between the restlestness and drooling and occasional leaking, night time is not my finest hour.

@Happygal: I mean, to REALLY get gross, I just have more fluid in general. More pee, more CM, more saliva, even more earwax. Is that totally disgusting and TMI? I mean, really. This baby-growing business is no joke.
persimmon / 1096 posts
@mfa_lady: @Happygal: I actually wondered if my water broke the other morning because there was so much fluid "down there" when I woke up. Thankfully, nope, just CM - but wowwww, no dignity in late pregnancy!

@keepcalmcarrie: YES! I thought mine was leaking (FTM worry over here--but my cousin's wife had their first at 35 weeks so I'm not taking anything for granted!) because the other day it just kept trickling out....and trickling out....and trickling out after I believed I was done using the restroom. Hahaha!

@mfa_lady: @keepcalmcarrie: I know. I decided to tidy things up down there to help feel a little better about the situation and realized I can no longer see what's going on without the help of a mirror!
And since we're into sharing, I sneezed with a full bladder yesterday and just a little pee came out. Not much at all, but enough to make me sad.

@Happygal: Okay, thank you for bringing that up. I'm in the same boat. I'm thinking of getting a wax--I have a friend who had one a week before her son was born and she said it was the best thing she ever did. I've only ever had a Brazilian once in my life, but I'm thinking of doing it again. Although honestly even a bikini wax could really help at this point. Just to get things...under control, you know? Ha. Oy vey.

@Happygal: haha I realised I can't see down there this week too! I was thinking about going to a salon or something but I'd much rather use the money to get my nails/hair done. It is only DH and my midwife who will see down there and I don't think aby of them will judge me!

@Raindrop: I'm betting you will get your horse.
@oliviaoblivia: Is it the name you were working to convince him on?
@Happygal: I remember the drooling last time.

@Snowdrop: I hear you--I've mostly thought of how nice it would be postpartum to have things a little tidier down there...but it is so expensive!
persimmon / 1313 posts
@MapleMoose: I'm so excited for it. I really can't wait to see DH get to feed her. I'm the first to breastfeed in my family so I have to admit, I'm a little more accustomed to bottle feeding.
@mfa_lady: Definitely check Groupon! I've been pretty accurate with tidying even while blind but if I was terrible at it, I was considering getting a Groupon or Living Social for a wax.

@Happygal: Ikea has awesome tunic-style bibs. I highly recommend a few for the self-feeding days! At our Ikea they're up by the cribs and baby furniture.

@Happygal: Haha I totally pee a little if my bladder is even on the edge of full... So to combat it I just pee a lot (maybe twice as much as I use to) and wear a panty liner.
@Radish: Thanks girl!

@namaste: Great idea! Just found a great deal at a place with great reviews.

@mfa_lady: can totally happen. I started leaking at 21 weeks with my daughter!
@Happygal: ummm I opened my mouth to bite a bagel today and drooled ALL OVER MY SHIRT. on my way to a prenatal massage. SO embarrassing!!! LOL!
Edit: photo proof that I sent to my friend

@Raindrop: Peeing often and panty liners have saved my life.
@mfa_lady: Yay!
@sorrycharlie: hahaha nice. Totally has happened to me a few times.

@Radish: @Snowdrop: hahaha, call me crazy but the first thing I did once I found out about my EDD is do the math on whether or not baby could be a February baby since this is what happened with #1 (he was due March and came April). This time not so much since they typically start inducing at 41+3 here, which would mean Jan 30th for me.
We had a horrible night yesterday since B started throwing up at 8:30pm and regularly continued to do so until nearly 4am. I'm alone with him again so my bedrest has been fairly "modified" today since I couldn't send him to daycare in this state. Also had to reschedule my OB appointment since they always do a NST and no way would B be able to sit through one of those.

I am somewhat freaking out over here...
Just went to the bathroom and saw a medium amount of brown blood. Not a huge amount, but not a few tiny drops either. WTF? I have zero labor signs, baby is still kicking and I feel okay (just extremely anxious now). I am waiting for a call back from my OB.
Has anyone else experienced this or heard of it? I've heard of BH contractions, red blood, water breaking, etc in the third tri. But not brown. My first thought was actually meconium, because when they broke my water with J there was meconium in the fluid, but I'm pretty sure that's not it. Ughhhh. Anyway, I'm just sitting here waiting now.

@keepcalmcarrie: could it have been some of your mucus plug? Mine with DD was a yellowish brownish mucus. Hope everything is OK.
@Pumuckl: sorry you had such a rough night.
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@sorrycharlie: LOL at the photo!
@Pumuckl: Oh no poor little guy, hope he is feeling better and you aren't getting too worn out
@keepcalmcarrie: Here's hoping it's nothing. I remember losing bits of my mucus plug with brown spotting weeks before I was due (about 33 weeks actually) even though I ended up being induced with zero signs of labor starting. I didn't know it was my mucus plug until my doctor said it. Glad you called your OB and please keep us updated.
persimmon / 1096 posts
@oliviaoblivia: I guess it could be. It was definitely different with J - more yellowish/clear, mucous-y, and passed over the course of a few days around 38 or 39 weeks. This was dark, dark brown.
J is sick right now and has been wanting me to hold him a lot, which is not easy physically (he's 32 pounds now). I'm just worried I've done something that's causing distress somehow? At least baby is kicking and, like I said, I feel okay other than anxiety.
ETA: It looks like sex could be the culprit here. DH and I DTD two nights ago, and since then it has hurt to pee a few times. I wonder if I irritated my cervix?
Sorry, this is so much TMI right now
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: I'm so glad you're still feeling baby and aren't having any other signs! Sounds like, based on other mamas' experiences, that this is totally normal. Please keep us updated--I'm thinking about you!
persimmon / 1096 posts
@MapleMoose: @mfa_lady: Thank you! I'm so relieved to hear that this isn't unheard of. I've never had any spotting/bleeding with either pregnancy, so this just totally threw me for a loop. I'm still anxious to hear back from the OB, but I'm feeling slightly calmer now.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: It would throw me, too! Hope you've gotten to talk to someone at your doctor's office!
ETA: We're past the point of TMI around here. Sounds like the sex really could be the cause!
nectarine / 2242 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: Oh scary! Thinking of you and hoping you hear back soon. It definitely sounds like it could be from the sex. I used to get spotting like that when I wasn't pregnant and it makes sense that your cervix is probably even more sensitive at this point.
I love how TMI this thread is because I know I can really ask you guys anything at this point
I just wrote up literally 4 pages of notes on how to take care of DD for whoever ends up watching her while we are in the hospital. I feel relieved to have it written down but also know probably no one will even read it! My main concern is she is allergic to peanuts and people without an allergy kid don't realize how careful we have to be.

@HappyBaker: Thanks!
Just heard back (the two hours it took is a little bothersome, but oh well)... Anyway, she said it's probably from sex, too much heavy lifting of the toddler, or a combo of the two. She said I'm to spend the next 48 hours doing as little as possible, which sounds pretty nice
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@keepcalmcarrie: So glad it's nothing serious! Enjoy your 48 hours of rest

@keepcalmcarrie: Great news! Glad to hear that she wasn't concerned. Enjoy your restful couple of days!

As of today, it's officially LESS than a month until my due date! ACK! My birthday was the beginning of last month, and comparing to that makes me realize a month is REALLY not a long time!
We had our second (and last!) doula meeting last night...as she was leaving, we were saying how the next time I see her I'll be in labor! How did this sneak up on me like this? Ha. I'm going to try to get the nursery done next week...I'm headed to Ikea tomorrow to get a bunch of last-minute things we need, so I know I'll feel better once that's all done. I've made a bunch of food for the freezer, so there's that...so hopefully we'll be ready-ish by the end of next week.
Second-time mamas--what clothes did you need for early on? I have mostly been asking for footed sleepers and onesies...any advice for how many of each I should have on hand?
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@mfa_lady: footies and onesies are the best. I would say a few in newborn size but I had 8-10 in 0-3 Month size. I didn't do laundry that much so that was enough to leave me with a weeks worth.
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@mfa_lady: Oh my goodness time is flying! The first weeks I kept LO layered in onesies under microfleece one piece outfits with feet with a microfleece sleepbag over it to keep her warm. At night or for naps we put a Halo sleep sack over the whole ensemble. Socks never stayed on so everything she wore had feet attached.
ETA: Mostly 0-3 months, maybe 6 sleepbags and 10 one piece footed. I had about 20 onesies because LO was queen of blowouts.
