@mfa_lady: Thanks so much!

Catching up!
@keepcalmcarrie: Good to hear your appointment went well! Also good to hear the blood was nothing. That's always a relief!
@Pumuckl: Bummers about being sick... I'm glad your little one is head down though. Wow I can't believe we are all so close to giving birth!
@mfa_lady: I think I'm the odd one out... we only bought 0-3 month clothes because everyone told us we didn't need newborn clothes... low and behold... our LO was swimming in 0-3 month clothes when he was born (he was 7.5 lbs and 19.5 inches). I had to go out shopping and get a few newborn clothes. I think I only got about 4 sleepers and 7 rompers (one piece outfits) in newborn size and that was good enough till he was big enough to be in 0-3 month clothes. Will still have those so we are set if this one is small too.
@HappyBaker: Yikes what a scare!! I'm glad your resting.
Thanks for the update!! I hope things keep going well. Stay in there little one and cook some more!
@Mrs. Blue: I did have an appointment on Friday! It went well... I don't have placenta previa anymore but the baby is still head up. OB is not worried though... she said they don't worry about till 36 weeks... seriously LO #2... troubles. OB said very few amount of babies stay heads up by birth though... I googled it... and it says only 3% of babies don't go head down. I also gained 2 lbs since my last appointment. So I'm actually only down total 5lbs I believe. OB is sure that I won't gain more than 15 lbs till birth which is where she would like me (aka I wasn't suppose to gain more than 10 lbs total because I'm overweight).

Had my appointment earlier today--saw my favorite midwife who's actually due with her own on Christmas...she said to me "Look at us, all big and pregnant." Ha!
My weight is back up a pound or two and her fundal height measurement had me right on target for today. I've felt huge the last few days, so there's a chance I've had a growth spurt since Thursday, I guess. Haha. She pressed all around on my belly and said that while baby doesn't feel particularly big, she's not worried about the ultrasound on Thursday at all. (She isn't the one who ordered it.) So, that's awesome--and now I'm just trying to be excited about seeing baby girl again!
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@mfa_lady: Sounds like an excellent appointment!
I think with all my issues with this pregnancy that the one key things is I get a lot of ultrasounds and get to see him a lot (we have gotten about 6 so far) . Haha. With my first I only got 2 ultrasounds total.

@MapleMoose: Poor LO! That is hard to deal with - I hope he feels better soon!
@HappyBaker: Awesome news about the good urine. Did they give you an idea of when exactly they were aiming for induction based on the BP alone?
@mfa_lady: Yay for some reassurance. Now Thursday will just be a bonus look.

Drs appointment was uneventful. Nothing like trying to keep a 2 year old entertained for an hour when they only see you for less than 5 min. She said that she definitely felt the head on the bottom, so looks like she is head down!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Radish: Yay for head down! And yay for you for braving the appointment with LO in tow. I can't even wrap my mind around that yet...but then again I don't even know what to do with a newborn, so....
nectarine / 2242 posts
@Radish: I am also impressed that you brought LO to your appointment, I actually like going to the Dr because I drop her off at daycare first so its "me" time.
For my induction they basically said let's try to get to 37 and reassess if/when we get there. I feel surprisingly a lot better after only one day of resting (also DD is at daycare during the week) so I'm hoping this helps keep things in check.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@HappyBaker: Glad you are feeling better!
@mfa_lady: @HappyBaker: I don't really have an option, I have to bring her now. She does really well as long as I have food with me.

Sooo, have just started having pretty persistent pains coming down the back of my thigh from my butt. Dangit! Is that sciatic pain?
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@Radish: Yay head down!!
@mfa_lady: Oh I haven't had this happen to me... but I hope it gets better! Sorry you are going through that. How painful is it?
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Raindrop: It's more naggy than anything--nothing excruciating, just kind of stops me in my tracks and makes me change positions. Blah! Add it to the list.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@mfa_lady: Oh bummers... though I'm glad it's not super painful!
About once every 2-3 weeks... I wake up with a major leg cramp in either one of my thighs .... one time it was both thighs!! Normally moving my legs for a few seconds helps but it's pretty painful for about half a minute. I think it *might* be restless leg thingy but it only happens to me during pregnancy (it happened last time too) and very rarely.
I hope you don't have any more interesting symptoms!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@Raindrop: Oh, that sounds icky! I still feel lucky because even though I have lots of weird stuff happening, almost none of it is debilitating and almost none of it is constant (heartburn is excluded from both of those categories).
ALSO....this is crazy, but because of weekends and holidays, I only have FOURTEEN work days left before baby girl's due date. NUTS!!
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@mfa_lady: Haha well that's true. I'm glad you are looking at the bright side!
Yay!! 14 more days! Woot woot!

@HappyBaker: welcome to the world of pregnant couch potatoes glad you're feeling better.
Things here are also slowly getting better. Hope it stays that way. I'll have another NST on Friday and on Monday we'll do the pre registration at the hospital. I keep telling little girl (ugh, who's still nameless) that she has to stay in there for another good three weeks. I really hope she listens to me - I don't know I have a weird feeling. Ah we'll see...
@mfa_lady: sounds like sciatic pain to me. I have trouble with it sometimes. Generally all the streching pains are less so far than they were with #1.
@Raindrop: I hate nightly leg cramps. Hope it won't get worse for you.
@Radish: Glad you're appointment went well and your LO was content with the food

@Pumuckl: Your comment reminds me of our birth instructor...we took a Bradley class with an instructor at the advice of some friends, and were warned that this lady was totally wild. She was showing us positions all laid out on the floor and everything. Anyway, she was talking to one second time mom (who was trying for a VBAC after having a CS with her first because he was huge and stuck) and opened her arms up wide and said "Oh, girl, this will be a piece of cake. You have SO MUCH ROOM down there now!" Hahaha. What every woman wants to hear, right?
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@Pumuckl: Wooah you are already pre-registering!? That's so crazy to think about!
@mfa_lady: LOL on the birth instructor comment! Haha.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@mfa_lady: hahaha that comment made me chuckle. But I guess it's true. The midwife that taught my birthing class with #1 said something similar though, it roughly translates to "all is perfectly greased now".
@Raindrop: yeah, I called them and that's the appointment they suggested. I'll be 35 weeks...

So glad everyone is feeling better! Had my appointment yesterday and I asked for a cervix check. The baby has definitely dropped but my cervix is still in tact. Everything else was fine but I just have a crazy cold. Talk about the worst timing!
persimmon / 1096 posts
@Pumuckl: Hahaha, I love that "perfectly greased" phrase so much I'm debating telling my DH, who will definitely think it's gross!
Our crib, swing, rock 'n play, NB sleep sacks, and tons of mitted onesies arrived today - it feels so much more real now! J is going to look like an absolute beast next to LO#2, even if he/she is a sizeable newborn - I can't believe J ever fit into newborn and 0-3 month clothes, they look like they're for dolls. I'm so excited

@mfa_lady: I have the same thing with one side of the belly being hard and the other is soft. I think she mostly hangs out on my right side. It's a little frustrating because I feel like she's wasting all the real estate on the left side lol.
@HappyBaker: Sorry to hear about your BP being high but it's good that you will be monitored closely. Hopefully you can hold out a while longer before getting induced. I'm wondering if they would try medications to lower your BP to avoid inducing early, I know there are several that are considered safe in pregnancy but they might not use anything for pre-E
@Radish: glad she's head down!
@namaste: I have had a cold for the past couple of days. The nasal congestion just adds to my misery at night, not only am i tossing and turning and getting up to pee but now I also can't breathe through my nose =(
I had my OB appointment today at 36w5d and she did a cervix check and said that it's soft and 1cm dilated, but no effacement yet. I am wondering if it might mean I will go into labor earlier than my due date but I know there's no guarantee. She also said she will be on vacation for the holidays during my 39th week so I'm kinda bummed about that since it's cutting it really close.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@pmrlady: my understanding is that it means nothing. I hope that you don't go into labor while she is gone!
@keepcalmcarrie: I know, they seem so small! My LO is super petite but still seems like a giant next to the newborn clothes.
I am extra exhausted this week and I try to think back to when LO1 was a newborn and am just blanking on how things were. I feel like a FTM again some days.

So I'm hopelessly behind, again.
Put on pants this morning and the waistband rooted while getting it over my massive belly. I had a complete meltdown and took a mental health day from work. Went to old navy and bought a pair of maternity jeans for $2.00. Now u don't feel like the hulk any more.
Hope everyone that was sick is better.
I'll try to catch up when I'm not on my phone.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@oliviaoblivia: hahaha, the hulk... But $2 that's a steel! I feel as though my belly is actually smaller this time than it was at this point last time. Is the jury still out whether you'll get a repeat c section or if you can go natural? Sorry if I missed the news somewhere along the way.
@keepcalmcarrie: Same with B, we'll be at the pediatrician tomorrow and I hope they can weigh him for me. But my guess is he's somewhere between 30 and 32 lbs. So I'm really looking forward to seeing them next to each other. Although if she ends up being smaller I'll have to actually buy some NB cloths. B never fit in them. I guess the growth scan the day before Christmas Eve will be a good indicator.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@oliviaoblivia: Wow 2 dollars!! That's such a good deal!
I have been in maternity pants from day one but I can totally hear you on being massive... I have normally loose fitting tops and during my last pregnancy I didn't have to get new tops... I still don't for this one... but 2 of my tops this time around don't quite go over the belly and it makes me sad.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Pumuckl: still undecided on the vbac. Every day I go back and forth. The doc thinks this one will be smaller... 9-10 pounds instead of the 9.5-10.5 they predicted with L. Still a huge baby.
I would be totally into it if it were a six pounder, but recovery from a 9.5 pound baby isn't a walk in the park.
P.S. sorry for all the awful auto corrects.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Raindrop: seriously. I was so annoyed to be buying maternity clothes at 37 weeks and then almost bought another pair when the girl rang them up at $2.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@pmrlady: my OB didn't deliver me. She was there for most of my labor, but it took forever so another doctor took over. I ended up liking her too.
persimmon / 1177 posts
@Raindrop: glad your placenta previa resolved itself, and good for you for keeping your weight on track
@mfa_lady: hope your ultrasound goes well tomorrow!
@Radish: yay for head down, and for surviving an appointment with your 2 year old I can't imagine trying that!
@pmrlady: Hope baby stays put until your OB is in town!
@oliviaoblivia: $2 is a great deal for maternity jeans!
I've practically given up on jeans and am living in leggings and yoga pants
And I can no longer wear bras with underwire Baby girl is up so high in my ribs that the underwire is super painful. I found one wireless bra at VS that's ok, but all the nursing bras I've tried on have zero support.
One month till my due date! I cannot believe how fast the third trimester is going!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@charmed: Thank you, lady! And I feel you on the underwire. I quit wearing all my underwire bras about a month ago. I'm in Coobies, but my boobs aren't that big. (Well, right now, they're huge for me--but that's still relatively small. Ha!)
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@charmed: Lol on the leggings and yoga pants!
Have you tried coobie bras? I sometimes feel like a sales man for them... but I like them a lot! So comfy. I use hate sleeping in bras.. but for this pregnancy ... my girls have gotten big... and coobie bras are the only ones I can stand to sleep in.

@Raindrop: Great news on the placenta! I had a breech baby last time, but with twins, I think it's less likely that they'll turn later just because they run out of room earlier. Well, and the fact that I wasn't allowed to go past 36 weeks. I bet LO will flip over soon. Awesome job on the weight gain!
@mfa_lady: This baby definitely seems to grow in spurts. I'll feel the "right" amount of big for a couple weeks and then all of the sudden, my stomach is way bigger. Then, it will settle back down for a while. Weird!
@Radish: Brave mama! I've only had to take the boys with me to one appointment, thankfully. It went okay until they had me lay down to listen to the heartbeat and they FREAKED. Someone told me they were just being protective of their mama, which was cute, but I've reeeeaaally tried to get babysitters since then!
@Pumuckl: Love the "greased up" idea. I wander if that applies to those of us who never actually went into labor. I keep hoping to find a way to tell myself that a VBAC will be more like a second time delivery, but realistically, I think it will be more like a first-time mom.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@pmrlady: Wow! The fact that you're already dilated really makes me want to start a baby watch thread, even though I know that doesn't necessarily mean LO will come early.
Okay, people, I really am going to go start a thread just for the January baby watch.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
Okay, I know we probably won't need this for at least a week or two, but here's the thread I started.
persimmon / 1177 posts
@mfa_lady: @Raindrop: I've looked at the Coobie bras before, but I'm worried they won't be supportive enough for me (I'm a DD or larger). Also, it looks like the straps on the full size ones don't unhook in the front (which would be nice for nursing). They do look comfy though!
@Mrs. Blue: I am in denial that we are getting close enough to need a labor watch thread But since my EDD is 30 days away I should probably face the facts that it's happening whether I'm ready or not!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
Okay, I've been doing great NOT worrying about my ultrasound....and now it's in 45 minutes and I'm freaking out. I guess making it to an hour beforehand isn't too bad, right?
I'll update you guys when we get out.
