@namaste: 3 centimeters?! You go, girl. My practice doesn't usually do cervical checks until 40 weeks, and after my episode last night I'm certain they won't do any for me, since things seem to be easily irritated down there. And yes--babies close in age is going to be amazing! Our good friends are having a little girl two months after us...I foresee lots of fun in the future.

@Raindrop: @Radish: Thank you ladies!
@mfa_lady: She always asks beforehand and I thought I was brave this week lol turns out not so much. How fun for you and your friends! Two months is fantastic. It's just so great to go through milestones and being able to share in these moments
Lots of contractions since last night but no pattern yet. Maybe things will keep moving? They haven't slowed down at all and they seem to be getting more intense.

@namaste: that's so exciting! And it's good that you're already 3cm so you're not starting from scratch.

I have my 34 week appointment this afternoon..supposed to be getting an ultrasound to see if this chick is head down or not. I'm a little worried the midwife I see today won't do it (an OB was the one who said we'd do it this time, at my last 32 week appt). I'm crossing my fingers because I am seriously stressed out now about
1) precipitous labor
2) going earlier than my induction date and
3) having this all complicated by a frank breech baby!
I've been having serious contractions, full body aches and pains, baby dropped, etc. I feel like I did with DD1 at 40 weeks. Granted, this could just be torture because DD1 came so quickly and easily..so why not have months of pre-labor?! lol.
But last Thursday, I had contractions from 1 pm - 10 pm (and likely during the night but I was exhausted). Generally every 3 minutes for about 45 seconds. I didn't call because every time I mention my contractions they shrug it off as a second baby thing. I plan to put my foot down today!

@Radish: I'm so behind! Thank you! This kid better have red hair at least or else E is going to feel robbed, heh.
@namaste: @sorrycharlie: Whoa, both of you are sounding way close!
I keep wondering if I would go into labor at all since I never went into labor with the first. But I have a recurring nightmare that this kid wants to come early. I've got way too much work left!

@sorrycharlie: I'm with you on all the pains compared to last time. I hope that you get some answers today!

@sorrycharlie: Not sure if this will make you feel better or worse, but my cousin's wife had a crazy fast (and early--35 weeks!) delivery with her first--4 hours from water breaking to baby. This time around, she went to 38+3 and had a more "normal" labor--around 12 hours total and her water didn't break until pushing. I hope you get some good info at your appointment today--we're all thinking of you!

Also, ladies...wish me luck tonight. I'm going to get a Brazilian wax (!!!!!) since I haven't been able to see down there in weeks. It's probably not going to be pretty (I've only ever had the whole shebang done once before) but at least I'll feel better. Once the pain subsides, that is... YIKES.

@sorrycharlie: FX she's decided to flip for you. I also feel that this baby will want out early. So I am quite curious what my appointment next week will bring.

@namaste: So exciting! Keep us posted if you can!
@sorrycharlie: Let us know how everything goes.
@Espion: Same here. I was induced with zero signs of labor. I'm wondering if that's going to happen again. I had contractions, pressure, and pain for weeks before last time and it's started up again this time too. The not knowing is torture!
@mfa_lady: Ouch! You my friend are a brave one. I've never had a wax down there.
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@MapleMoose: Hahahaha. I actually think I might cry. I used to get regular bikini waxes, but that's nothing compared to getting the whole thing done. I had it done once before...post-MC and during TTC for this little lady. I guess I'd call that a success? Haha. I'll report back, if I can stop whining long enough tonight....

@mfa_lady: Did you used to take anything beforehand for the pain? Advil? A shot? lol
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@MapleMoose: You know, I think last time I actually did take Advil. Too bad neither of those will work at the moment....maybe I can find some Tylenol!
pomelo / 5000 posts
@mfa_lady: good luck! Brave. I just talk a whole lot to try to distract from the pain. Maybe you can try out your pain management techniques for labor!
@sorrycharlie: how did the appointment go? Did she turn?!
@namaste: whoah, that is exciting! How are you feeling?

@mfa_lady: Happy waxing! Think of all of the low maintenance after the pain
@Happygal: They were slowing down this afternoon but now they're back and just as painful as this morning so we shall see. Lots of yoga ball time happening!

@mfa_lady: Ah! That makes me cringe just thinking about it. Although I'm sure mine is also pretty rugged since I haven't seen it for months either!

sorry everyone! longgg afternoon. I'm so tired.
sooo I had some painful contractions on the way to my appt, so I figured it was good timing. the nurse took my BP and said it was high but wouldn't tell me the numbers (she usually does, and it's always on the lower side) and asked about the contractions I've been having. she said she would have the midwife check me between that and my high BP.
no sooner had she shut the door behind her, the midwife came in. she took the baby's heart rate for awhile which I thought was weird, but didn't think anything of it. she asked, "she moving often?" and I said yes, but didn't think it was a weird question.
then she checked me. holy. shiz. I have a very high pain tolerance..I labored with my first to 10 +3 with no pain meds! and I almost shot off the table. I gritted my teeth for a minute before I said "ow!!" and moved backwards away from her. She said my cervix was very posterior so it was hard to get to but it was soft and at least 1 cm. and that her head was very, very low. so clearly these contractions are doing SOMETHING.
then she decides to tell me between that, my high BP and the fact that the baby's heart rate was higher than she was comfortable with, that they wanted to put me on the monitors. I remembered to ask quickly if the baby was definitely not breech, she felt around and said it felt like she was head down. so here's hoping.
anyway, after being on the monitors awhile they decided I could go and they'll watch me carefully for PIH. next appt is next week - tues - at 35 + 3. she said before she left the room that "we want to keep her in til 37 weeks - and I *think* we can do that."
holy crap!! I am ready to be done being pregnant, but thinking of an EARLY Jan baby is scaring me a little!!

@namaste: so exciting! keep us posted!
@sorrycharlie: hope your ultrasound goes well, and they take you seriously about the contractions.
@mfa_lady: good luck with your wax! I need to go get one, but I'm chicken because I've never had one. Right now I'm just blindly shaving and pretending that if I can't see it or reach it, it doesn't matter
nectarine / 2079 posts
@sorrycharlie: oh man, sounds stressful! Hope that you are able to keep her in for a while longer and at least make that 37 week mark.

@sorrycharlie: Oh my goodness! What an appointment! I hope that your next one goes well, too, and that they get it all straightened out. Try to rest up!!!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
YOU GUYS. It was so painful! Usually for down-there waxes, places use hard wax because it pulls the hair out differently/more easily...but this place just used the regular stuff with strips!!!! I wouldn't even let her do the super sensitive areas (I know, I know, what part of that area ISN'T super sensitive?!) but I still feel a lot better about my situation now that I had it done. Haha!

@sorrycharlie: Wow what an update! Stay in there baby! I'm glad she's not breech anymore though.
nectarine / 2242 posts
@sorrycharlie: sorry you had such a LONG crazy day! My BP has not gotten worse since my craziness a couple weeks ago because of making a really hard effort to rest - it's definitely hard when you have a toddler around (but mine at least goes to daycare, I forget if you are home or not). Definitely drink lots of water and try to just rest as much as you can!

Had my 36 week appointment today - baby is head down and everything else is good! I also scheduled the remaining 3 weekly appointments before my due date
How's everyone else today?

@charmed: Glad to hear you had a great appointment!! Crazy that we're in the world of weekly appointments, huh?
I'm feeling kind of weird today, actually--my belly has been super tight and crampy all day, but only up top, which is strange and not labor-y and mostly just makes it hard to breathe. Fun stuff! I think I slept funny last night, and that's the cause. At this point, who knows!

thanks everyone! sorry I didn't pop back in last night..I'm beat. I also feel like a drunk amnesiac. And the target cashier somehow lost the tucks pads I was buying before he even scanned them and just stared at me when I said I Needed them. I guess I'm making another trip?? lol.
I'm all of a sudden on a "get everything ready and/or packed NOW" kick after that appt.
grapefruit / 4731 posts
@charmed: yeah head down! Also yay weekly appointments! my hospital has never done weekly appointments. We get 2 weeks appointments near the end.
@mfa_lady: hmmm... I think you might be having braxton hicks contractions!
@sorrycharlie: Wow target guy... so weird! Sorry you have to make another trip!
