@Raindrop: I thought BH was a possibility too--but how long do they usually last? This was more ongoing, and I figured BH would come and go. What do you think?

@mfa_lady: I don't know what the cause is, but i get really tight and crampy in the upper right corner of my stomach. Sometimes it feels more like contractions, and sometimes I think it's because the baby's positions is just pushing some random organ or something up there that makes it painful. Sorry you have to deal with that, too!

Does anyone else think Namaste's silence means we're going to have our first January baby any minute??

@mfa_lady: That is usually how my stomach is in the evenings. I never know what to classify all the strange body happenings as, I just go with it isn't labor and baby is moving so we are good. Even on my second pregnancy, I can't be certain when I have BHs Last time I was induced after my doctor noticed two contractions during our 39 week appointment that I couldn't even feel (that wasn't the main reason for it, but it was a contributing factor to her believing I was a good candidate for induction).

@Mrs. Blue: I hope so, I'm keeping an eye out for a post from her.

@Radish: Me, too! I keep checking back here to see if there's an update.

@Mrs. Blue: @Radish: Thanks for the commiseration! No matter what is happening in there, I'm glad to know I'm not alone. And I'm totally with you--I'm thinking Namaste's absence means that baby is coming!

@mfa_lady: When I had time last time... they came about 2 weeks before I was due... and they would happen maybe a few times throughout the day till I was actually in labor. I heard they are a good thing because it's your body getting ready!

@Mrs. Blue: @Radish: Hehe I was thinking that too!

  9. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@Raindrop: Interesting! My due date is two weeks and three days away...so you could be right! I like the idea of getting me ready for labor. I'll go with that!

@mfa_lady: I'm having similar sensations but they are only in my lower abdomen, they feel like menstrual cramps.

Had my 36 week appointment today. She mentioned that baby's head is super, super low. That would explain the crazy cervical twinges I'm experiencing the past few days- sometimes they are very painful! I'm having a ton of them tonight especially, every few minutes. She didn't do a cervical check or anything today to cause them. They're making me a little nervous! Still no BH contractions though.

How is everyone else feeling tonight? I'm sooo tired but having trouble falling asleep before midnight lately. I'll be bitterly regretting these wasted sleep opportunities in a few weeks, I'm sure.

@keepcalmcarrie: I'm waking up every night around 3:30 AM or so and 9 times out of 10 cannot fall back to sleep at all.

I hear you on the crazy twinges. I just got stopped in my tracks with some crazy thigh/ligament pain and completely freaked out DH like we're going to have a baby tonight or something, heh. I had to reassure him several times that I'm NOT in labor.

Here's a complete wig out I just had: Next Christmas our babies will be nearly 1 year old!

@Espion: wow that really is an intriguing thought. 1 yr old sounds so grown up...

@keepcalmcarrie: I have been having pelvic and cervical pains too. Glad I am not the only one.

@mfa_lady: repositioning myself often helps me if random parts of my stomach start hurting.

Things here are still good. 2 more weeks baby girl - we can do it I have another NST this afternoon. No expecting bad news so I guess all good.

I keep hoping for an update from Namaste!! Maybe she is snuggling her newborn right this minute. What an exciting thought!

I have been getting BH since the 2nd trimester. Now they are more frequent and my whole belly gets hard all at once. Lots of pressure. Also I know what you mean about the slicing sharp pains down there. They make me gasp sometimes but thankfully don't last long.

  15. Mrs. Confetti

    blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts

@keepcalmcarrie: omg re: those non-BH "twinges". They are awful. I've been getting them all week, especially at night, and it is the worst.

Totally had a crazy dream two nights ago about a bunch of you guys having your babies. Specifically Namaste and Charmed. So so so so random.

I am basically functioning in zombie mode these days. Fighting a cold, afraid to take my toddler out much for fear of the crazy stomach bug going around, letting him have WAY too much screen time and basically waiting for it all to be over. Which makes me feel sad. Should be relishing my last time with C as an only.

@Mrs. Confetti: I'm also on the way too much screen time train.

Right now I'm seriously wondering how can I last 6 (give or take) more weeks feeling like this. My husband keeps saying it is too soon and I want to hit him because it feels like he wants me to be miserable forever so he can finish his to-do list.

@Radish: I so wish I had six more weeks. I have 11 days and have so so so much left to do. I'll trade pregnancies with you!

On my way back from my 38 week appointment. I've gained 23 pounds and my cervix is so far back she could barely find it. My section date is creeping closer and closer.

    Wishing the best for namaste!!

@Mrs. Confetti: we're on the screen time train too. DD woke up today and said "watch caillou please" no good morning, no hi, just give me TV. Ugh. Not like it's going to get better any time soon. Hope the stomach bug stays away from your house!

Had my NST today and had to stay hooked up for almost 2 hours. Right when I got there I apparently had a contraction and his heart rate went down and took a while to come back up so they wanted to make sure that wasn't happening too frequently. I apparently am having contractions that I can't feel or am just thinking are him moving? Which is crazy to me.

Definitely hear you guys on being super uncomfortable / ready to be done!

  19. HappyBaker

    nectarine / 2242 posts

Also do you get cervical checks every time starting at 37 weeks? I forget how this worked with my first pregnancy but remember they were awful!

  20. Mrs. Confetti

    blogger / pomegranate / 3491 posts

@Radish: I'm with you on the wanting it to be over. I told my MW on tuesday that I would be cool with a 35-36 week baby just to be finished with this. she was not on board with that plan.

@oliviaoblivia: hey, at least she said please, right? little victories. Colin also wakes up saying TV please...

  21. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@HappyBaker: with DD1 I didn't have cervical checks until 39 weeks. I had one today to see if there was anything going on... if there was vbac would have been back on the table. I don't really believe in them though.

    Still no baby

I'm just feeling awful. Yesterday was all nausea/vomiting with some painful BH but now they're paired with back pain. They just come and go so nothing that's indicating go but it is certainly miserable. I've been too tired to try to walk around and jump start anything but today I think I will, especially since they're starting up again. This baby can't make up her mind!

  23. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@namaste: Oh no! Hydrate and rest, mama. I hope you are feeling 100% when this baby does make up her mind!!

@HappyBaker: My previous OB didn't believe in them. I caved and asked for one at 38 and 39 weeks. They didn't hurt at all.

  24. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@Espion: lucky! Mine are so painful!

@namaste: bummer! Come on out baby girl!! Hope things get going for you!

  25. Espion

@oliviaoblivia: My theory is that because he was a guy and he had long, slim fingers? Lol. In my healthcare experience women always seem to be a little rougher on each other than guys and vice versa!

  26. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@Espion: maybe. I've only ever had them done by women. I was pretty much squealing on the table this morning.

Funny side story. I had a student today with the worst bedside manner. I could barely hear him and then when it came time for me to get undressed for the exam he wouldn't leave the room. My OB had to remind him. And then after the exam he left the door open on his way out while I was naked from the waist down. Hellloooooo I'm naked in here! Again my OB had to remind him to close the door. Such a bone head. I'm all for education and giving students the opportunity to learn but man...I hope he doesn't attend my section.

  27. namaste

    persimmon / 1313 posts

@Espion: Ugh my checks are so painful and my OB is pregnant so I figured she would feel for me right now.

@oliviaoblivia: Same here! Now I'm getting stomach tightening BH ugh lol

  28. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@oliviaoblivia: Ugh, clueless. With any luck he'll become a pathologist... If you see him, you have every right to kick him out. Teaching hospital or no, it's still your call!

  29. Radish

    nectarine / 2079 posts

@oliviaoblivia: Wow. I let an EMT training student in during my delivery with DD1 and luckily she was cool and helped a lot in keeping me in position for pushing. I was worried about what I got myself into when I agreed to it - but I want well educated future medical professionals!

  30. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@namaste: that sucks! I hope you can get some rest and that walking will jump start things if you feel up to it. One of my cousins always told me last time to tell myself, "This is temporary and for good cause." Soon you'll have a sweet newborn in your arms and all of this will be over!

  31. Radish

@namaste: It sounds like your body is gearing up, I hope it is show time soon!

@Espion: I chose my OB because she's the head of the teaching program. I almost feel like I should let him stay because he needs the help! Poor guy, it was almost like he had never seen a woman before. Haha.

@Espion: I can't envision having a 1 year old right now, but I'm sure it will make Christmas even better next year

@Mrs. Confetti: hope you're right about Namaste, but I'm not ready yet

@HappyBaker: My office is supposed to start doing them at 37 weeks, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to decline the first couple. I don't think it will help me to know if I'm dilated or not- I'll just spend too much time worrying about what it means. Plus I heard the checks hurt like crazy and I'll avoid that as long as I can

@namaste: hope things go better for you today and that baby either gets here quick or gives you a break!

I am probably the only 36 week pregnant person that is NOT in a hurry to go into labor. I'm sure that will change if I get more uncomfortable in the next weeks, but right now I'm content to relax and enjoy time to myself for a little longer.

  34. SleepyMonkey

    grapefruit / 4006 posts

@namaste: is it lower back pain? Like back labor? I walked around all day with #1 with back pain and went into real labor at 2am the next day. so you could be really close!

  35. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@charmed: I'm with you 38 weeks and wishing I had more time before baby.

  36. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@oliviaoblivia: Ha! Definitely pathologist material then! It is nice of you to let him stay. I always felt like such a nuisance.

  37. keepcalmcarrie

    persimmon / 1096 posts

@charmed: This was me the first time around - I was in NO rush to give birth, even at 39 weeks. I was genuinely a little alarmed when I went into labor at 39 weeks 4 days! It was like I'd talked myself into him being late.

This time around, I'm wavering back and forth between feeling ready and hoping it doesn't happen anytime soon (I mean, sooner than my due date, haha - obviously it's happening one way or another pretty soon!) I am so much more physically uncomfortable this time, and I'm not at all afraid of labor now after going through it before, so I will be happy when we get this show on the road. But I'm also nervous about being away from J for a few days (never happened before) and about taking good care of him while seriously sleep deprived. So I'm not sure I'm really "ready" at 36 weeks, but yeesh this is uncomfortable, I didn't truly realize how lucky I was the first time around to feel so good!

@Espion: @Pumuckl: @MapleMoose: @Mrs. Confetti: Sucks we are all experiencing these "twinges," but I'm glad it's not uncommon! They're really more like slicing pains, actually, good call @MapleMoose. Carrying J from this open gym toddler time thing today, I had them basically the entire time and it felt like baby was going to fall out! I haven't started waddling yet, I don't think, but ugh the pressure down there is crazy.

Which is why I'm also on the screen time train. I need to put my feet up!! The first thing J says in the morning is "Juice?" or "poopoo." The second is "ELMO!"

@Mrs. Blue: That's such a good mantra to think of. Thank you for sharing when I'm just over it lol

    @Radish: @keepcalmcarrie: @charmed: Thank you ladies!

@SleepyMonkey: Yep! Lots of lower back pain today.

  40. mfa_lady

@namaste: Oh my gosh, lady. I am so sorry you feel so terrible! I'm not sure if your OB has said anything to you about positioning (and maybe someone has said this already?) but it sounds like baby girl might be working hard in there to try to get in the right position to make her grand entrance. I'm thinking of you!
