I can't contain my excitement today! I can't wait to see our baby! 90 more minutes! Ahhhhhhhh! Good thoughts and prayers please!

@Ash: Yay, good luck! It's so cool to see it :).
So I was really frustrated and annoyed with the OB's office yesterday. I had to get back to work before schedule the next appointments last time, so I called yesterday to set them up. We scheduled a bunch of ultrasounds, including one at 12 weeks they called a "first look." I also asked about doing the MaterniT21 test, which if you're not familiar gives similar results to an amnio, plus the gender of the baby, through just a blood test. It is really important to me to get this test and get it early.
So anyways, I know from reading the MaterniT21 literature that you can have it done as early as 10 weeks. But when I asked about scheduling it then, they said the genetic counselor has to see if I "fit the profile", which they'll do at the 12 week screening. I got really annoyed because I don't give a crap if I fit the profile or not. I want the test, and I feel I have a right to get it, even if I didn't fit their profile. On top of that, I've already checked with my insurance it's free, but if it wasn't we would pay for it. The midwife also told me she wouldn't refer me herself because it would make the genetic counselors upset and she only does it in cases where she sees something horribly wrong on the ultrasound. Um, you're not bothering to see me until after 12 weeks, so how would you know if something looked horribly wrong? And sorry, I don't really care about your office politics.
I managed to be nice on the phone and we got it straightened out this morning. I now have an appointment with the genetic counselor at 10w1d and they will supposedly give the order for the test and I can have it done that day. And then I still have to go back at 12w for the ultrasound.

@Ash: Omg, yay!!!!! I'm so excited for you update as soon as you can!
@MrsCB: I've thought about asking for that blood test too. It makes me so mad when offices make things so difficult (like my last post!). Ugh! Like, if I want to see MY baby which is in MY body and I agree to pay for it even if insurance doesn't, I should be able to! Same goes for your situation!

@Ash: Thank you! How did everything go for you today?

I had my final RE appointment today. I graduated! Now I need to book my first OB appointment. The baby measured right on track, 8w1d, we saw the strong heartbeat, 171, got more pictures, lots of paperwork and found out that I get to stop taking my progesterone suppositories! It's a precautionary thing that they have all patients take after IUI and IVF procedures. I'm almost as happy about my little glimpse of my kidney bean baby as I am about stopping the twice a day suppositories.

@MrsCB: How frustrating that must be! I'm glad you got it straightened out, but sorry that you had to go through that. At least you know how to be your own advocate - stay strong. Your body and your baby need you!

@Mrs. J: yay for hearing the baby and recording the heartbeat! I can't wait until we get to hear the heartbeat. I did see it today though! Happy to hear that you like the midwife!
@Cara M. 17: thank you! May 16th will be here before you know it!

@sweetooth: Thanks! You're so lucky to get to see the baby!
@Ash: Details, details, mama! How did it go?!

@MrsCB: @sweetooth: @Mrs. J: @lilteacherbee:
AHHHHHHHH BEST DAY EVER! We got to see and hear the heartbeat today! Best sound ever! It was a strong 176bpm. And baby is measuring 8w6d so I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow! Crazy cuz I thought I was only 8w2d. My edd is November 23! Such an emotional day, wow! Thanks everyone!
@sweetooth: Yay for graduating and no more supps! Happy day!

@Ash: Yaaaaaaaaay so good to hear! It's the best hearing that little heartbeat like a marathon runner---I started giggling!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: I told dh I wouldn't cry but I bawled like a baby! So many emotions! Such a cool little sound! The first thing the ultrasound tech said was "Yay! There's a heartbeat! First I'm gonna look around but we'll get back to it...." And she let us listen twice. She was the best!

@Ash: YAY! So glad to hear everything went so well I'll go update the due date thread. I got a new date today too - 11/28.

@MrsCB: I'm glad you got it straightened out. That sounds incredibly frustrating. Don't they know not to mess with a pregnant woman who needs answers?! That test sounds very interesting, I'm going to ask about it at my next visit.
@sweetooth: Congratulations on your graduation! Woohoo! It sounds like you had an amazing appointment, so very happy for you!
@ash: YAY!!!!!!! Best moment ever is hearing the heartbeat for the first time!!! We may be due date twins -- they are keeping me as 11/23 until the dating scan on 5/16.

@Ash: That's so awesome!!!!! I'm so happy for you I can't deal with not seeing baby again for 2 more months. Pretty sure I've decided to switch offices. I read their website and they even offer 3d/4d ultrasounds at their office at the beginning of the 3rd trimester!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Cara M. 17: Yay! They actually have me as November 21 but the ultrasound tech said between the 21st and 23rd and since I was actually close to their original they're keeping it. But I'm going with the 23rd. Hahahah!
@lilteacherbee: I don't get another u/s until 20 weeks now but after today's u/s, I feel great. She said if I ever want to come in to hear the heartbeat I can. But I might borrow my sil's doppler to save cash. Ha!

@Ash: My due date by LMP is 11/23 but my 7w6d ultrasound showed baby M measuring 7w4d which would be a due date of 11/25. My midwife said it'a too early to use that ultrasound for accurate dating so they'll go by the 12 week one and keep my date as 11/23 for now!

@Mrs. J: I know! Yay! And it skimmed about 4-6 days off of my days til baby is born countdown lol!

I thought I'd update the appointment list today. I couldn't find new dates for everyone - so feel free to update this list or post any edits and I can update.
I finished up working with my RE last week, so now it's on to my OB! Man am I going to miss the efficiency of my RE office though. They were so expedient and responsive there. I was on hold for 8 minutes this morning before I got to talk about making an appointment with my OB. And then I had to reiterate several times to her NO - I'm not 8 weeks today. I was 8w1d last Friday! I know my cycle woman! Don't mess with me! She was counting all crazy telling me when I was going to be 10 weeks - and I was like - NO! By then I'll be 11! Sigh...so silly. Anywho - my next appointment isn't for an eternity. I'll be 11w5d by the next appointment. Welcome to pregnancy!

@sweetooth: My appointment on the 25th was moved to last week, so I won't be going this week. I just called to get my records sent to another OB office, so they will call me with an appointment for the NT scan in a few days.

I'll be going in on Friday for the 1st trimester (12 week) NT screening (I mainly just wanted another ultrasound!). If all goes well I think we'll be starting to tell people!

My next appointment is May 17th for my physical. No more ultrasounds till 20 weeks now. She'll probably go over my bloodwork from last week's appointment too.

I feel like I have the latest first appointment out of everyone! I will be like 10w5d. Some of you have already seen your doctor a few times! I did have a dating ultrasound at 6w but it was done by a tech at the imaging center and I have yet to actually see my OB/midwife.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: I had to beg for my early ultrasound otherwise I would've had my ob interview at 8w and ultrasound at 12w. Too long to wait for this girl!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@anbanan15: I have yet to see my OB/GYN. I've just been working with an RE so that is why I already had 2 ultrasounds. Now I have to wait until 11w5d for my first appointment.
I hope your thyroid appointment goes well tomorrow!

I had my first OB appointment on Tuesday (11 weeks, 4 days), and she was able to find a heart beat (170 bpm!!). I have another ultrasound next week, and I can't wait to see my little baby again. Happy to hear about so many great appointments lately.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@sweetooth: Thanks. It's just a blood draw and my endo will probably call in the evening with the results. Nothing exciting
@Ash: My OB doesn't see you until typically at 10 weeks, but I had the early ultrasound since I had no clue how far I was. 10 weeks seems like an eternity!
@yin: Glad your appointment went well!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: my ob is very stingy with ultrasounds lol! But that's okay. My midwife told me I don't need a bunch of ultrasounds... hearing the heartbeat will suffice.

@yin: Yay!! Glad it went well
I have my NT scan on May 7th with a perinatologist. Then on May 16th, I have an appointment with my OB to go over family history and hear the heartbeat.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Ash: Yup! My office typically only does the 20w anatomy scan and that's it unless there are reasons for others.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
Had my appointment today, the perinatologist was sooo nice. He said i'll get my results (and know the gender!) in 2 weeks.
Next appointment is 6/19 for our official anatomy scan!

I had my MaterniT21 test on Monday and I unfortunately need to do the glucose challenge tomorrow :(. I was having blood sugar issues before getting pregnant, and when they checked last week it had gotten worse. So now I have to do the challenge at not even 11 weeks and I'm kind of assuming I'm going to fail :(.
But at least I have the 12 week ultrasound coming up soon on 5/13 to look forward to. And by then, we should have the results of the MT21 and we'll know the gender :D.
