So exciting that a few of you will know the sex soon! I don't have any risk factors so I decided not to do the NT scan or any of the other tests besides the quad screening.
@MrsCB: Good luck with the glucose challenge!

@MrsCB: ahh how exciting! What did they tell you the wait time was? Mine said 2 weeks (from Wednesday/yesterday) so i'm pretty sure this is going to be worse than the TWW! Hope you do well on your glucose test!

That's so nuts some of y'all are going to know the sex of the baby... I can't wait! I updated with my next appointment; it isn't anything too great, just a standard doctor check, I'll be a few days over 15 weeks at that point.

@MrsCB: How did the glucose challenge turn out? Hope you're feeling well and that you got some good news.

@sweetooth: Well, it wasn't the most fun thing I've done! The drink was pretty bad. If I have to do it again I'm going to ask for another flavor. I'm not a big Sprite fan in general and it tasted like super sweet, flat Sprite. And it upset my stomach for the rest of the day. No results yet, hopefully will hear today, though I'm expecting I failed. But I'm really not looking forward to them making me do the 3 hour challenge :-/. I'm a contract worker, so I get paid hourly. Having to miss a half day of work in order to sit around a doctor's office half the day is not super appealing.

@MrsTiz: So exciting that you'll know the gender in just two weeks!!!
@mrscb: Crossing my fingers for a passing result for your glucose test!
coconut / 8472 posts
So I did fail the test - my blood sugar was 192, and they like it below 130. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what kind of impact this will have on me.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@MrsCB: I'm so sorry. That totally stinks. Do you know what this means as far as more testing or just eliminating sugars from your diet etc? Hang in there..hugs
coconut / 8472 posts
@anbanan15: They're not going to have me do the 3 hour challenge, I guess because I so obviously failed? I'm not supposed to eat a lot of sugary foods, and you're supposed to balance the carbs you eat with protein and fat. So don't eat a big plate of spaghetti with sauce. But if you say, chicken and veggies you could also eat a serving size of pasta.
I haven't been interested in sugary foods since getting pregnant, except for the occasionally craving for a vanilla milkshake, and then i drink maybe a 1/4 of it. I can still have that stuff, but it's better to have it after a non-carby dinner.
The thing I'm really not looking forward to though is that they want me to test my blood sugar 4 times a day. I'm not sure I can handle being poked that often, especially when I'm on a computer all day and kind of need my hands to not be hamburger.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@MrsCB: Sounds like you have the diet part under control and good thing you don't have to do the 3 hour! I know you said that the drink was terrible for you so I would be thankful that you don't have to repeat that
Testing your blood sugar shouldn't be too bad...I'm afraid of needles and as a competitive athlete growing up I had reactive hypoglycemia and had to check my blood sugar...it really wasn't that bad and the needles on many of the monitors these days are so small and fine (I had a freestyle at the time). Did they already give you your monitor? I believe there are some where you can test other places than your fingertips, like your arm, so maybe you can get one of them instead if you explain your concerns with the pricks and having to use your fingers all day?
pear / 1787 posts
@MrsCB: I'm so sorry! I know it will be an adjustment at first, but I'm sure that in a few weeks you'll totally have the diet and blood sugar testing down.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@MrsCB: Aw man, that sucks! At least they gave you useful advice on diet changes. My dad has to test his blood sugar daily and his needle is so small it's nothing.
coconut / 8472 posts
@anbanan15: @DigAPony: @MrsTiz: Thanks everyone :). That makes me feel better to hear how small the needles are. I've only had a finger prick once and it wasn't the most comfortable thing ever, so I've been kinda worried about it.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@MrsCB: Sorry to hear that you'll have some new challenges to deal with. Bright side - no 3 hour nasty sprite test in your future? hugs! I think it's definitely worth speaking up about your job to be sure that the test can be taken in another place other than your fingertips.

I had my appointment today (just a regular one) and it went well! I got to hear the heartbeat--baby was hanging out a few inches below my belly button. The most exciting part was that I made the appointment for the 20 week anatomy scan! We'll find out June 13 if we're having a boy or girl! I'm so excited. It's starting to feel more real.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@DigAPony: Yay!!!! So glad everything went well
My NT scan is tomorrow morning and I'm excited to see baby again! If everything goes well, we'll book an ultrasound for June 11 (our anniversary) to find out the gender!

@lilteacherbee: Thank you! And good luck tomorrow. Isn't it awesome to think that NEXT MONTH we get to find out?! It's making me giddy.

I had what was supposed to be a boring appointment yesterday, I was 14 weeks and a couple days and hadn't had an appointment since 8 weeks so was excited to hear the heartbeat. But they couldn't find it, which kind of made me worried since with my daughter they never had any trouble though I didn't say anything. So the midwife brought in the ultrasound and we got to see baby, which looks like a real baby now. Baby was sleeping with its little hands up by its head just like my husband and daughter sleep and moved around a couple times looking like he was a bit annoyed about being prodded, I think he was trying to say 'just let me sleep'. Next appointment is the anatomy scan but I don't have a day yet for but sounds like itll be the second week of june, right before my birthday

@Maysprout: aww so glad everything is okay and you got to see baby, I would have been nervous too!
Well, I'm back from our scan! There was a crazy six car pile up this morning and it took us over an hour to drive 10 miles to our appointment. The ultrasound was great, baby moving all around, heartrate of 169 Since I was at the perinatologist/high risk doctor and I explained my history with a m/c due to chromosomal abnormalities, they were surprised I hadn't been referred earlier (if you remember, I had to fight to get this appointment!). They were super nice and had us talk to a genetic counselor and we agreed that the materniti21 testing was the best fit for us since it can also test for xy issues (previous baby had turner's/missing X chromosome). So, we will have the results and know gender in 2 weeks
so happy
also, I'm getting my anatomy scan done there and they happened to schedule it on our anniversary, June 11th!
Also, our due date is currently up in the air because the ob office said 11/20 at 6 week ultrasound, but by my ovulation date, it's 11/17 (what I go by). The ultrasound today measured 12w6d which would be 11/13, so the doctor said she wanted to review the measurements and make a decision.

@lilteacherbee: Woohoo! I am (not so) patiently awaiting my results. How freaking EXCITING. I should know within the next 10 days.. not that i'm keeping track..
I can't believe we're all only a month (or less!) away from knowing genders!

hi nov mamas! i've been kind of stalking this thread for awhile and finally decided to announce baby #2 :)! we had out NT scan today like @lilteacherbee and everything looked great.
here's our newest addition! EDD 11/14

Hi November mamas - I'm going to keep it shorter and sweeter over here. I wrote a longer post on the pregnancy boards if you want the whole story. But long story short, I woke up this morning with brown and then bright red discharge. Everything is OK - but it was a super scary start to the day.
I was able to get in for an ultrasound this morning and we saw the li'l bugger in there. The baby moved and we heard the heartbeat for the first time. It was magical and just what I needed after dealing with the sadness of seeing the blood this morning.
Looks like I have to keep an eye on this bleeding stuff though. Fingers crossed this isn't the beginning of crazy times for me.

@Maysprout: yay for boring appointments turned into AWESOME ones!

@kokobee: Welcome! Glad you're here!
@sweetooth: I posted on your longer post -- but again, so happy that everything seems to be okay for you!
I've got an appointment coming up May 29... my doctor never called me back to set one up so I called two weeks after my first one. Sooo I'm going another 6 weeks between appointments which is annoying, but everything seems to be okay in the meantime from what I can tell?

@MrsDragon: thank you - I'm glad things are still good for you. The 6 week break between appointments must feel like an eternity. I'm glad you were able to get another appointment scheduled. Like I mentioned on my other post, be sure to ask about the bleeding.
@DigAPony: Thank you

I had my 12 week ultrasound and appointment today. Baby looked good, was measuring 4 days ahead! It was so cool to see him swimming around in there. At one point he kind of went back to sleep and the ultrasound tech has me drink some cold water and that woke him right up!
Sorry for the blurry pic, the tech and the doctor printed us awful pics so after they left DH changed the pic on the machine and we went against the rules and took some pics, haha.
