First and foremost: the nursery trim is done!!! And we built furniture yesterday! Just need my husband to get into the closet, paint it, add baseboard and install the shelves, then install a few more things and it's DONE. Finally!
My inlaws are coming for Thanksgiving this weekend (Canadian over here) and I'm not psyched about houseguests but it could be worse. I hope all of you dealing with holiday expectations get what you want and need -- if the holiday were any later or my due date any closer I'd be pretty unhappy about it, I think.
We have a growth ultrasound on Friday. I've been measuring small and didn't grow at all between appointments last time around, so they're going to check in on her.

Sounds like everyones projects are coming together. My IL came this weekend and helped with a few projects so with each thing done I'm feeling more ready for baby to come. I feel like my neighbors are watching me with a close eye and keep thinking I've gone into or about to go into labor. Our elderly neighbor came over today thinking she heard me, but it was just my daughter yelling at her stickers because she couldn't get one off, she hadn't been whining for more than a minute and I saw my neighbor start walking over. It's sweet but it's going to be a long few weeks of anticipation.
We had an uninvited house guest show up after our weekend of 3 house guests. I felt bad but I was not pleased and I'm sure he got that feeling. I kept going about what I wanted to get done and wasn't quite as welcoming as maybe I'd usually be but he is more my husbands friend anyways so I left him to deal with it. I think my eyes shoot daggers at this point even if my words aren't unfriendly.
@MrsTiz: I feel you on lack of patience.

@ShootingStar: @lilteacherbee: Thanks guys I left work early because my boss (mom) kept telling me I looked like shit basically, so she took me home. I took that time to watch some Jerry Springer, catch up on dishes and throw some food in the crockpot. DH scratched my back when he got home and said I need to consider taking a half day or even a whole day off a week to breathe because my job has gotten really stressful. My mom scheduled her cleaning lady to come to my house on Monday (next Monday), that alone is the biggest weight off of my shoulders..someone is going to clean my bathtub for me?! Heaven! It was good to get some time to not have to focus on getting everything done before it's time for bed. Long weekends have healing properties, I swear it
Still feel like crap, but at least i'm rested haha. I have an appointment tomorrow so i'll be sure to ask about the dizziness/fainting.
@FarmWifeGina: ..SNOW!?! What! It was 89 and miserable here all weekend! I *wish* we got snow. Maybe not the first week of October but still
@CARA M. 17: I think (hope) it will either be me or Neekie Rose. She's due the first or second (I believe) and we'll both be full term next in the next few days so I hope no one goes too early!
I've been having this feeling that he's going to come soon. I know it's probably wishful thinking but i'm seeing signs everywhere and I feel like he's dropped..although I know that doesn't mean anything, I just have this feeling. My mom came in freaking out because she had a dream that he came early and I didn't have everything ready yet so she's making me order the last of the stuff I need haha. DH's prediction is sometime between October 18-25. So, basically 37 weeks. Fingers and toes crossed he's right haha.

@MrsTiz: If baby hadn't flipped, then I would definitely been having an October baby, but since she has, I am really hoping she doesn't go past her due date. I too am feeling like she has dropped a lot. I have an appointment on Wednesday and they should be doing an internal exam, so it will be really interesting to hear if anything is progressing....
DH is convinced she is going to come early, especially since at our last detailed u/s (at 29 weeks) she was measuring a full 3 weeks ahead in head circumference and 2 weeks ahead in femur length.
Nursery is all ready (with the exception of dresser being delivered), I am about 90% wrapped up at work, and my hospital bag is packed. So if she decided to make her appearance in the next week or so, I would be perfectly fine with that!
Has anyone been experiencing carpal tunnel at night? I am still feeling good for the most part, minimal swelling and discomfort, but I have been getting the tingling hands pretty much every night....and it is really annoying. I am contemplating getting wrist braces to sleep in.

@NeekieRose: at night yes! Not at all during the day but my hands go numb at night haha

I keep having a feeling he's coming early too. Although, it's almost a done deal that he won't be coming past his due date, and even if he did it would only be a couple days past. Maybe it's wishful thinking. Maybe it's the two predictions I got that both said I'd have a boy in October that won't get out of my head! (Jenny Renny and Cherri22 if anyone did that while TTC like me.) Not that I really believe in psychics, but at the time it gave me some hope when we were struggling with TTC.
Next weekend we plan to pack our hospital bags with everything that can go in them now. And after that we'll do setup of the last stuff - swing, pack n play, and maybe playmat. I think I'll feel better once that stuff is done. I'll feel better too once we're out of October, since he'd be less than 37 weeks if he comes this month.
No carpal tunnel, no swelling. But I am having some pretty bad pelvic pain. BTW, how do you know if the baby's dropped at all? Just compare pictures of yourself? Based on how baby feels? I've been trying to figure out of my pelvic pain is happening because he's more engaged, or if it's just relaxin making things too loose.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@ShootingStar: I don't think I *look* lower (DH does but I don't see it) but I just feel like he's really low in my abdomen and almost in my crotch? My pelvic pain has gotten a lot stronger and now it's not so much of a stinging at the top of my vag bone as it is a heavy-ness..like if I lift my leg up to step into the bathtub it hurts, it feels like a strong pressure mixed with the burn/sting of pelvic pain only a bit lower. More in the middle of my crotch than the top..
also, crotch is a really nasty sounding word but now I can't stop saying it. Crotch.

@Cara M. 17: @sweetooth: Yeah, I'm curious to see how the Thanksgiving drama plays out...it should be interesting to say the least!
@MrsDragon: The nursery looks awesome!!!
@Maysprout: Dude, I totally hear you on uninvited guests...
@MrsTiz: Kickass about the cleaning lady! I really want to book a house cleaning but feel like I should just...do it myself. Lame. That's so crazy to hear that you think you'll go early--we're due the same date (the 8th, right?) and I feel like I still have the FULL 32 days to go... We'll see!
@ShootingStar: Also curious about knowing if baby dropped...I totally can't tell. I'll take a picture later and maybe that'll show...something? Hmm.

Hi Ladies! I sorta fell off the face the planet as far as posting on HB but I’ve been on here constantly the last couple of months. I can’t believe we are all getting so close to our “due dates”. We finally assembled the crib and rearranged the furniture in our bedroom to make a nursery corner. We live in an open urban loft – so no actual rooms just zones. Should be interesting w/ a baby. Not ideal, but I wasn’t ready to give up downtown living just yet. So we are sticking it out until April. We also managed to get pretty much all of our last baby items ordered and next weekend I should finish having everything organized. The only big to-do is packing our bag & figuring out what breastpump is covered by insurance so I can get it ordered before the little guy arrives.
Has anyone else packed their bag yet? We are planning on delivering at a birth center & if all goes well we get to go home the same day/morning. But I need to be sure to pack a back-up in case we transfer to a hospital for some reason. I have no idea what to pack.
@NeekieRose: I've been dealing with carpel tunnel and/or sore hands since the 2nd trimester. They are tingly at night but mostly just stiff feeling. If I don't use them during the day (watching tv etc.) they get stiff again! It's annoying but I'm starting to get used to it at this point.
@MrsTiz: @ShootingStar: I was feeling like he might be coming early as well. Which I am totally not ready for. I have too many work projects to wrap up & normally I wouldn't care - but DH and I work together and he's also on the same projects, so neither of us will be around to tend to client issues. It's a bit stressful. That said... as soon as I'm full term (about 10 days from now) I'm probably going to start doing all sorts of wishful thinking to get this baby lower and ready for arrival!
Has everyone figured out their holiday plans yet? Or are you up in the air like me? Depending on when the little ones arrive in relation to thanksgiving?

@ms.janedoe: Oh I forgot to mention, it wasn't just like an uninvited guest stopping by to say hi, he showed up at 5 pm so DH made dinner for him and he needed a place to sleep so he spent the night. All without getting in touch first and he didn't even bother to help do the dinner dishes after showing up unannounced (I didn't do them either, I left my husband to that job but the guest just sat in the kitchen and watched and talked while DH cleaned up).
I had been planning on an evening with my husband and getting to sleep early after a busy weekend of houseguests and poof went that plan. One of those things that wouldn't bother me too much when not pregnant but I just couldn't bring myself to be super friendly to him. I wasn't unfriendly but I didn't go out of my way to make him feel welcome.
coconut / 8472 posts
@ms.janedoe: I just took a pic but I think he hasn't dropped. Just gotten bigger. I was going to post it, but I look pretty goofy, lol.
@Maysprout: I would have been SO annoyed with that. I can't believe someone would just drop in unannounced and expect you to put them up.
We had our childbirth class over the weekend, and I ended up really enjoying it. I wasn't sure that I would, especially given it was an all day thing and I'm getting really tired really easily these days. But I managed to make it all day long. Though I took a 2 hour nap when I got home, lol. Some of the info I already knew, but I did learn some things.
I think the best part was that DH learned how to support me in labor. My husband is so sweet and thoughtful a lot of the time, but he can also get wrapped up in his own little world and be less than supportive sometimes. It REALLY helped him see some of the birth stories and how what the husbands did to help out, and to practice those techniques in the class. If we hadn't learned that stuff, I could totally see me being frustrated with him in labor. And now he's more motivated to more supportive of me in general and the fact that I need a lot more help then I used to. He even gave me a fantastic massage last night, without being asked :).

@Cara M. 17: I think I'll be towards the end but hoping baby doesn't wait til December!! Can't wait to see nursery pics!
@sweetooth: You're not alone in the project area... it's always something around here - currently in the process of putting up our garage and breezeway! Drywall dust is THE.WORST!
@MrsDragon: Love the nursery color! Hope the u/s goes well on Friday - keep us posted!
@MrsTiz: Crotch.

@MrsTiz: You have inspired me to possibly get a cleaning lady for before baby comes...trying to convince DH that we should get one as we speak Groupon? Heck yes.
@NeekieRose: I have carpal tunnel at work sometimes when I'm on the computer entering grades and whatnot. Bleck. @ms.janedoe: I feel like I will go the whole way too!
Anyone been having sharp pains in the lower pelvic area? It's kind of a pinching pain?
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@Mrs. J: I would never get one on my own because I'm a cheap-o and my house is only 1500 sq ft..but the fact that I don't have to clean toilets, bathtubs or wipe down baseboard until the baby is here makes me way too excited haha. I say go for it!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@MrsTiz: I would normally not want one, but my experience cleaning the tub this weekend was less than pleasant...I kept telling DH he needed to do it, but that didn't happen. He does not clean bathrooms. Like ever. My house isn't that big either... like 1800sqft. My inlaws have one once or twice a month, but they have a huge house and money is not an issue there!
CD ladies who have had showers, did anyone buy you CDs? My showers are this weekend, and I am hoping people buy them!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: yes, I have - on my right side mainly! Makes me wonder if baby is pressing on something around the area of the "pinch". / And nope, nobody bought me any CDs... I did get some wipes (Pampers sensitive) though!
coconut / 8472 posts
@MrsTiz: @Mrs. J: Oh man, my cleaning service is probably the most favorite thing I spend money on. I HATE cleaning and LOVE coming home to a perfectly cleaned house every few weeks. We don't have a huge house, but it's just overwhelming to me to keep clean on a regular basis. Plus, I can now barely walk, so no more cleaning for a while anyways.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@Mrs. J: Pinching is what I was trying to describe to ShootingStar..it's a burning pain, like if someone had nails and pinched you really hard.. exactly! Pinching is a much better way to describe it. Mine used to be up high where the top of my underwear would sit, now it's moved down much lower.

@Ash: Yay for a fun baby shower!!!
@ShootingStar: Our childbirth class is the 19th, so I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed yours!! It is nice knowing that our LOs will likely be here early. One silver lining to all the GD stuff!
@sarah.clarisse: My due date is officially the 20th, but he'll likely be here before that, so Thanksgiving will be us at my parents house (they live 20 min away). I'm kinda nervous because there will be some extended family there (like my bratty 11 year old cousin).
@MrsTiz: Yay, so glad you are getting some help!! If I wasn't pitiful myself, I'd come help you haha. I'm SO thankful that DH cooks every night AND volunteers to do stuff like clean the bathrooms. I have to say, he's been pretty amazing about that.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
I'm 34 weeks now and totally feeling it. I slept horribly last night and the weather has been so depressing (rain/hot/muggy). We're doing assessments all week at school in the mornings and even though that's its own brand of misery, I'm kinda enjoying the break from 18 kids at once. This afternoon (the first time I'd been in the classroom all day), I definitely found a movie for the kids to watch for 30 mins because I felt like I may fall asleep at any given moment. One. More. Month.
Also, a girl I went to high school with had her baby last night. After being in labor for hours and hours, the baby got stuck and they had to do a c section. She was 8lbs 11oz. That is EXACTLY what I'm afraid of, since Nathan is already over 6 lbs. If its likely that I'll need a c section, I'd rather go ahead and schedule it instead of trying for vaginal and then ending up with one anyway. I have a small frame, which makes me worry that this 9+ lb baby won't fit, especially since the doctors have already mentioned it without me bringing it up. I have an appointment Wednesday, so I'm definitely going to ask.

i need some advise ladies....my back is KILLING me...just started about a week or so ago...sitting at my desk all day is finally catching up to me...i make sure to get up and walk, i readjust my chair a couple times a day, try switching positiions...but nothing seems to be working...
do you have any suggestions??? should i bring an ice pack to work?
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
they have them at BRU too.. I NEEDED that thing for my whole second tri. You can heat up the pack or freeze it depending on what feels better for you. I just slip it in the back of my chair and sit with it behind me. Loved it. Nothing else worked for me!
@lilteacherbee: sorry you're not feeling well lady. Your DH sounds amazing! When are you starting maternity leave? How are they getting Nathan's sizes? U/S? A girl I went to school with just had her baby last night..he was 9 lb 6 oz and she's probably 5' flat and has always been really thin and narrow, so it's certainly possible to have him vaginally! Keep your chin up. Are you open to a section if your doc recommends it, or do you think you'll want to try vaginally? Either way, you still get the same prize at the end, right?
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@MrsTiz: Nope, I'm not opposed to a c section. I'm actually terrified of regular childbirth. I've had abdominal surgeries before and a lot of other surgeries, so a c section isn't something that I'm totally against, especially considering his size.
I have major anxieties about losing him in labor, even though I know that the chances of that are really low.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@lilteacherbee: Oh that's right! You said that earlier. Is that something you could set up with your doc ahead of time, to go ahead and schedule one?
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@MrsTiz: Well I'm seeing so many doctors (my OB practice has 11 I think, plus I go to the high risk office too). The high risk doctors mentioned it at my last appointment when we realized just how big he's getting. I have a regular OB appointment tomorrow with one of my fav doctors, so I'm definitely going to ask. I doubt they'll let me go too far past 39 weeks. Whenever I get annoyed by this GD stuff (like...I deprived myself for the past month and he is STILL huge!), I think about the fact that at least I won't go 41+ weeks.
The fact that I know my due date is a little off from what they're saying makes me not worry as much about them taking him early. The doctors' due date is 3-7 days off from ovulation AND early beta results AND the 8/12 week ultrasounds. So I'm pretty confident that he'll be okay if they take him at what they say is 39 weeks (because that's about 40 weeks in reality).
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@lilteacherbee: 11?! Wow! I wouldn't stress over 39 weeks at all, I'm over here praying for J to come at 37 weeks haha oops!
Is anyone else creeping on the October boards? So many babies already!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@MrsTiz: Haha well I'm 34 weeks now and I'm soooooo impatient!!! I need time to go by just a bit faster!!
Yeah, there's basically two HUGE OB offices in Wilmy and that's it. They have all consolidated into two different practices and you see all the doctors at your practice so that you get used to them all. It's kinda annoying (I haven't seen my OWN obgyn that handled my m/c since I was 6 weeks!), but at least I have options!
And yes, I'm totally creeping!! They have had a lot of people go early!! One of you early November girls could have a baby real soon!!
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@lilteacherbee: I'll be 36 weeks in a few days, so the fact that we're all *so* close to being full term is crazzzzyy!! I think NeekieRose might already be? I feel like we all just found out we were pregnant! Time is FLYING by over here, but i'm still so ready to be done.
You'd think there would be more offices in town! I wonder why they only have 2 big offices instead of a few smaller ones? My office has 3 doctors and 2 midwives and I get them all mixed up, can't imagine 11~
coconut / 8472 posts
@MrsTiz: LOL, I was reading the September ones a couple weeks ago and I was creeping the October one today for a little bit.
@lilteacherbee: I feel you on being more scared of regular childbirth than c-section. Honestly, the only thing that seems worse about the c-section is that you don't get skin to skin or to hold the baby right away (at least at my hospital). I'm terrified of how my body is going to handle labor, what with the awful pelvic pain and hemorrhoids I already have.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@ShootingStar: Yes, I'm very anxious about childbirth. I mean, I get anxious about lots of things medical-related, but pregnancy has forced me to chill out for the most part. But some things, I still get worried about. I know it sounds crazy, but I just want to minimize the risks of something awful happening. I've had a hard time believing that everything will be okay with this pregnancy because of the previous miscarriage. The fact that he's really big is just making me even more anxious. I just want him to be here safe and sound!
persimmon / 1386 posts
@MrsTiz: Not quite full term yet. I'll be 37 weeks on Saturday. Although my EDD is a pretty conservative one. Based on my LMP my due date would actually be 10/28 and off ovulation (I used OPK) it would be 10/31 (I DO NOT want a Halloween baby), but the 8 week dating u/s put me at 11/2 and in our wonderful November group! If I had gone by either of those other dates, I would be considered full term right about now.
I don't want to think too much about going early....but I did have my first dream about the baby being born last night. Actual delivery I don't remember really from the dream, but I remember that Reagan was super cute with big blue-green eyes. This was the first time I have "seen" Reagan in a dream.
@lilteacherbee: One of my biggest fears is also laboring for hours and then having to have an emergency c-section. Ugh, worst of both worlds. I would definitely prefer to have a scheduled c-section instead. But since baby girl flipped, I am now hoping for a relatively easy normal delivery...that's not too much to wish for, is it?
persimmon / 1386 posts
And now with all the talk about the October board...I'm going to need to pop over there and do a little stalking!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@NeekieRose: Yep, that's what I want to avoid! If the doctors think its a good chance I'll end up with a c section, I'd rather just go ahead and schedule one instead of trying vaginally and it failing!!
You're so close!!!

An old friend from school is due the same day I am, so we always chat on FB about how we're doing.. she had an appointment yesterday and is already 1cm dilated!!
When does everyone start getting checks? My office doesn't do internals until 38 weeks! It seems so late to me. I'm dying to know, even though it doesn't mean anything at this point but still
As for my appt yesterday, BP was 134/82, but she wasn't worried. They took blood to check my white blood cell count and iron to see if either of those could be the reason for my dizziness. I asked how much weight i've gained and wish I wouldn't have! 28 pounds. Crap. I knew it was a lot but didn't think it was THAT much! They said not to worry about it, but how can you not?! I guess theres no turning back now.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@MrsTiz: Holy smokes, they do checks really early!!! I don't ever want to be checked... I'll probably only be disappointed. / I've gained the same amount as you and I'm a couple weeks behind.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@Ash: You don't look it! She moved to Kansas I think, so maybe they do them earlier there or at her office. I assumed they would start at like 36/37 weeks. 38 weeks feels so late!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@MrsTiz: We're both 36 weeks on Friday, right?! So crazy!!! I have an appointment Monday for my GBS test, and I thiiiiink my doctor mentioned doing a vaginal exam then...crazy. Not sure I'll go through with the exam part, like you said, doesn't really mean a whole lot!
I've been popping in on the October boards from time to time, it's so crazy to think that it's already baby-time! I feel like I JUST found out I was pregnant and now I'm 30 freaking days away (THIRTY DAYS) from my due date. Holy balls. So nuts. I'm starting to freak out a little bit, like, totally not worried about the L&D part of it, but I'm terrified of the first few nights/weeks home! Now it's so close it's getting SO real!!
I've started to panic and try to get stuff in line--I booked a Groupon for a car detailing (DH and I share one truck and it's FILTHY right now...), decided (thanks to a lot of you!) to totally splurge and get the house cleaned, and I want to go book a pedicure all in the next couple of weeks. I want to do it as CLOSE to babygirl coming as possible, so I'm thinking I'll try to schedule it all for the week of the 21st or 28th...leaning towards the 28th...
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
@ms.janedoe: I know! If my OB offered it, I'd totally take the check though, just to know. I need a pedicure too, I'm jealous of the car detailing though! & yep we're the same due date so 36 weeks on Friday. I'd go with the 21st, just because if she comes early you will have to cancel!
Have you put in your car seat yet? DH insists that baby will be early so we put it in last night, we're leaving the actual seat in the house but the base is installed.
