@MrsTiz: Well thank you! Neither do you! I try telling myself it's a 30lb baby in there!! I'm actually not real worried about it - a lot of people I know gained 60+ lbs and I just keep thinking how much I'd hate to have to lose all that weight!! So I'm looking at the bright side. / As for checks, I'm not even sure when my office starts - I think 38 weeks too. That's when my SIL started getting checked (same city, different OB office).

@ms.janedoe: I want to schedule a pedicure too... I was told there are pressure points in your feet that can help with inducing labor! But I have 45 days til my due date. Time really has been flying, I have to agree! I can't believe it.

@MrsTiz: I think having the base installed is a good idea! Dh wanted to install in a couple months ago - hahaha! I wouldn't let him - people would think I'm crazy!!

I have an appointment this afternoon and I know they will be doing the GBS test and *I think* an internal exam. Not sure if they said they would be doing one, or if I just assumed they would since they will be doing the GBS test.

I know it doesn't really mean anything but I want them to do one so that we know if anything is happening yet!

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@Ash: @MrsTiz: I was thinking about the car seat installation....maybe we will do that depending on what they say at my appointment today. Already have the hospital bag in the car though!

  5. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@NeekieRose: Jealous of having your bag packed! Let us know how the appointment goes.

Anyone get any comfy jammies for after delivery? That's pretty much one of the last things I need to pack.

  6. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@NeekieRose: @Ash: I haven't packed my bag yet, that's on my to-do list for this week/weekend.. What kind of bag did you guys use? I didn't get any pajamas because I don't want to spend money on something new that i'll just ruin..I don't have a lot of nursing friendly clothes, so i'm really struggling on what kind of clothes/pajamas to bring for myself.

  7. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@Ash: I bought a nursing nightgown and robe a couple weeks ago....but I'll probably end up wearing yoga pants and tank tops? Both are packed, so I'll have options.

What about nursing bras? Anyone starting looking into those? Bought any? I'm nervous to buy any before the milk comes in, but am I going to go buy them the first week after baby comes? Doubtful....

  8. NeekieRose

@MrsTiz: I just packed a Vera Bradley duffle, it seems like a good size. DH actually made me pack my bag. I had been procrastinating and he wouldn't let me leave the house last Saturday morning until it was packed. I didn't pack anything really for during labor. I figure I will just wear the hospital gown instead of ruining anything of mine.

  9. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: Honestly, I just used a small roller suitcase (but big enough to toss in the hospital goodies). I just figure I'll take some pajama pants and nursing tanks (oh yeah, I need those too). I'd like to get a cheaper version of the VS cotton pajama (http://www.victoriassecret.com/sleepwear/pajamas/the-sleepover-cotton-pajama?ProductID=69037&CatalogueType=OLS) That way if I'm cold, I can throw on the top. I really have no idea what I want to do. I don't own yoga pants like some mamas recommend.

@MrsTiz: At my last appointment they told me they'll do the GBS test and check for dilation at my 36 week appointment. Since I'll likely be induced (unless baby boy comes early on his own) it's important to know how ready my body is.

@Ash: I haven't bought any new pj's, but I did buy a nursing tank and a new pair of yoga pants for my hospital bag. And I want to buy one more tank. Oh, and I bought a comfy robe too. Don't want to be walking around in hospital gown with things showing out the back, lol.

  11. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@NeekieRose: Oooooo, can you share the nightgown and robe you bought?
When I was being observed at the hospital, they made me put on a gown and it has made me soooooo anti-hospital gown! SO ITCHY AND UNCOMFORTABLE!! Once I deliver, I want out of that beast!!
I thought about nursing bras too but I'm with you on not knowing about the size I'll need. Not sure what to do about that.

  12. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@NeekieRose: I bought a nursing sleep bra from Target
    http://www.target.com/p/gilligan-o-malley-reg-women-s-comfort-nursing-bra-assorted-colors-patterns/-/A-14001062#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=nursing+bra

I'll wait to get real bras until my milk comes in.

Anyone care to share their clothing list? Of all things to be worried about..this one is a big one for me haha

    On my list is
-Maxi dress to come home in unless I find something better
    -Nursing bra
    -????

  13. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@ShootingStar: I don't blame you - hahahaha! I see lots of moms at work and some of them look so cute in their jammies and robes!! I'm just a tightwad and only want to buy stuff I'll wear again.
The idea of checking gbs gives me the heebie jeebies - If I'm correct, they check vaginally and rectally. Eep!

  14. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: Bahahaha, that's really all I'm worried about!!

  15. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@Ash: Yeah, I'm totally dreading the GBS check :-/. I would love to be wearing something other than a hospital gown, because I really hate them. I find them so uncomfortable, maybe because they always make me take off my bra? But that's so not happening for hours at a time. When you see people in their cute pajamas, is it after the baby's born, or while they're in labor?

  16. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@Ash: wait..what? What is GBS? No one told me there would be rectal checks!!

  17. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@ShootingStar: It's definitely after. They just look so comfy and cute. I can't imagine hanging out in a hospital gown more than I have to.

@MrsTiz: It's just a swab that checks your gbs (group b strep) status - which determines if you'll need antibiotics during labor. But they check both areas.

  18. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@Ash: Here is the nightgown I bought....it was actually more expensive than I had been planning on spending. I was in the store and I think I was looking at cheaper ones then liked this one better without looking at price. Ooops. http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=97109Z10150&MasterCategory_Id=MC16

@MrsTiz: Ooo...sleeping nursing bra, good call!

    Clothes in my bag:
    socks
    underwear
    yoga pants
    yoga capris
    handful of tank tops
    comfy sports bra
    robe and nightgown
    flip flops
hoodie sweater to wear home (with yoga pants)-didn't know if I should pack something cute to come home in??

@Ash: I can't believe you don't own yoga pants! I do not do yoga (lets not even mention the prenatal yoga dvd I bought and did once...), but I wear them all the time when the weather gets cold. If you decide to jump on the yoga pant bandwagon, Old Nave has cheap, really comfy ones: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=53935&vid=1&pid=633125032#close

  19. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@NeekieRose: I don't own yoga pants either. I'm on the hunt for some skinny fit sweatpants because I don't really want to wear a dress home but I am running out of clothes that fit and am a cheap-o so I refuse to buy anything I won't wear PP. What kind of tanks are you bringing? Thank you for the list!

    I think i'll bring
    -Flip flops
    -Warm socks
    -Nursing bra
    -Something to come home in
-Pajamas of some sort, maybe something short sleeve and button up? I get so hot I can't do long sleeves!

I'm looking at nursing tanks online right now and am not sure if those will work for me..I'm veryyy boob-conscious so I don't see myself wearing a cami/tanktop with no bra underneath..which kind of defeats the whole purpose of them, no?

  20. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@NeekieRose: I looooooooooooove that!!! So so so cute!!! / I know, I'm a little crazy!! I think ON has 20% off active wear today. Hmmm. Oh, and I'd pick comfort over cute to go home. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. AHHHH!

  21. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: I'm a cheap-o too - that's my problem with going into fall and having like, NO warm clothes that fit. The same goes for a going home outfit. I like the idea of having on a nursing tank when visitors aren't around and then throwing a top over it when they are.

I haven't had my GBS check yet and my doctor hasn't even mentioned it! I know I'm going on to weekly appointments after this Friday, so maybe it'll be coming up soon (I'm 36 weeks Saturday).

Haven't even thought about a hospital bag yet! Yikes!

@MrsTiz: Ooooooo, cute & half the price!!! Thanks!!!

@MrsTiz: I have a bunch of Old Navy tank tops (are we sensing a theme of where I buy cheap wardrobe staples??), I think the "tami" ones are my favorite. They are a soft cotton material and really long. The maternity ones are even longer. And they are somewhat low cut on the top so they will be easy to pull down for breastfeeding.

@Ash: I'm totally in camp comfy. Although I also packed 3 different going home outfits for Reagan....I couldn't decide, they are all so cute!!

  26. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@MrsTiz: That bra is really cute! I got a really ugly sleeping bra because I have giant boobs and it fit, lol.

@NeekieRose: That nightgown is really cute. I wish I could wear nightgowns, but I always end up uncomfortable! They get all twisted around my waist and my legs get cold.

    I'm planning to bring:

2 pairs of yoga pants (anyone who doesn't have them, get them!!)
    2 nursing tanks
    2-3 comfy/fuzzy socks
    2 pairs regular socks
    Slippers
    Robe
Going home outfit - maternity jeans, tank, hoodie.

  27. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@NeekieRose: I feel so plain and generic but I'm only packing a fleece sleeper for baby's going home outfit. Zzzzz! / I bought some of those tamis but I'm not a fan of them - hoping they will work once I'm nursing.

@Ash: http://www.target.com/p/just-one-you-by-carter-s-newborn-3-piece-set-grey/-/A-14329068#prodSlot=large_2_8 this all I got for Jack to wear home, nothing fancy (or expensive, you believe me when I say I'm cheap now? lol!)

I'm glad to see you guys are all going to go home in a hoodie. I've officially decided to scratch off the maxi dress, especially since it will probably be cold! So now i'm on the hunt for sweatpants and long tank tops.

I bought some Evening Primrose Oil yesterday but i'm too chicken to start it.. is anyone else going to do any of that stuff (the teas, massages, etc.) to encourage labor/make it easier?

  29. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: That bra is SUPER cute!! Adding it to my list

@ShootingStar: Anymore, I hate having anything on my legs cuz I get so hot! I'd like to just hang out in my bra and underwear but that'd be awkward lol!

  30. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@Ash: LOL, that *would* be awkward.

@MrsTiz: I'm thinking the hoodie will cover up any boobage problems. And I was thinking of trying some breast pads to cover the nipple, just in case it shows through.

I'm definitely going to try whatever I can. This boy is being put on eviction notice starting at 37 weeks. I need him out!

We went a little overboard on a going home outfit. I really wanted something cute and special. I got this sleeper - http://www.janieandjack.com/shop/dept_item.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443472013&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374303720017&bmUID=1381330468116&productSizeSelected=0 and a matching onesie to go underneath - http://www.janieandjack.com/shop/dept_item.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443472061&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374303720015&bmUID=1381330515741&productSizeSelected=0.

@Ash: @MrsTiz: Oh, I'm so cheap when it comes to clothes. I have been ridic when it comes to the consignment sales. I went to one at a local church 2 weekends ago during the "Dollar Dash"...spent $50 but got so much clothes for the baby. There were multiple piece outfits for A DOLLAR! So I think one outfit may have been a gift, a rose printed outfit with a little cotton jacket, onesie, pants, and hat and another consignment find with argyle print on a little cardigan, onesie, and pants. Then my dad got her this polar bear suit that is super soft and warm that we might use if its really cold...

@MrsTiz: So I bought red raspberry leaf tea in the first trimester because I had read that it helped with morning sickness, it didn't so I didn't drink much. But this week I started drinking 2-3 cups of tea a day. I should probably discuss this with my midwife today...

  32. NeekieRose

@ShootingStar: That's a really cute outfit! So is the one @MrsTiz got for Jack!

  33. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@ShootingStar: how cuuuuuteee! I love that! It looks so warm.

@Ash: That's my problem too, I sleep in underwear only, so a full pants/long sleeve pajama set sounds like my idea of hell. I get all wadded up and hot, ahg! I've been like that my whole life, so adding pregnancy to that I am like a sauna. I might get some soffee shorts and a button up short sleeve shirt or something? It sounds so raggedy but I have NO clue what to wear pajama wise because we'll have a TON of family coming in and out all day (sigh)

@ShootingStar: I'll be 37 weeks next Friday so i'm collecting all my supplies now..though I keep reading to start the EPO at like 34 weeks and then start it vaginally by 36/37? I don't know, i'd hate to start it now and him come too early, (If it actually works!)

  34. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@NeekieRose: could you ask her about the evening primrose oil? I forgot to ask mine yesterday and I don't want to wait until next week haha I need to go shopping with you! I have a ton of baby clothes but none i'm too crazy about, since most of them were gifted (and used) so I can't exchange them, it just feels wasteful to buy even mroe because I don't know what sizes he'll fit into in which seasons.

Dudes, you all are way too fast for me.

We have the car seat base in--it's been in a for a few weeks, actually. I installed it to see how it would work (again, since DH and I just have one truck)...and how cramped we'd be. The result was that we'll be very cramped. Hahaha. We just have the base in right now and the car seat inside until we need it.

I pretty much have my bag packed for the hospital. I'm really not bringing a whole lot. I figure they'll have most of what I would/could need. I packed a going home outfit for myself (fabulous stretchy black pants, nursing tank, basic sweater), toiletries, and then threw in a few crap pairs of underwear, fuzzy socks, a basic thin robe, and a few of those "Gownies" that I got from someone else. I figure I'll be in the hospital gowns/Gownie things pretty much the whole time, so whatever.

I have the diaper bag pretty much done, too. Nothing too crazy, a Carter's fleece Sleep-N-Play in NB and 3 month for a going home outfit, a swaddle blanket, a hat/headband, nursing cover...and that's about it. Again, I figure the hospital will be pretty stocked with what babygirl will need.

I'm not going to try any of the EPO/raspberry leaf tea/etc. stuff. I looked into it for awhile, but for me personally, babygirl will come when she's ready (or when the doctor tells me she will). I don't want to rush anything just because I'LL be more comfortable...you know? I mean, OBVIOUSLY if there was a need for her to come early I'd be all over it and do whatever I had to, but I'm happy to go as long as we need to! In regards to the EPO/tea/etc. making labor easier, again, personally I don't believe it. There's people who have gone crazy with it and had great results, but just as many who have had no results... And on the flip side, people who have done absolutely none of it and had great results, and just as many who had no results! You just can't win!

(Gone for like 30 minutes to throw dinner in the crock pot and I feel so behind lol!)

@ShootingStar: Such a cute outfit!! Awe!! / I live in underwear and tanks - that's why I hate when people just SHOW UP unannounced when I'm home. Thinking of making sure people know to give us notice after baby comes for this reason.

@MrsTiz: Ummm, the outfit I got is just a fleece sleeper for 5 bucks from carter's. But the one you got Jack is so cute! I just want something warm. / I don't think that sounds raggedy at all - it sounds comfy and cool. I wasn't thinking about how hot I'll probably be - maybe pants are out of the question. I'm really in love with NeekieRose's gown and robe.

@NeekieRose: is the polar bear suit from carter's? Sounds like one that I have!

As for the raspberry leaf tea and Evening Primrose, I say it's worth a shot. I had an Amish patient at work a few weeks ago and she told me about a bunch of herbs that help with easier labor but I'm a little afraid to try them. I'll have to find the sheet she wrote them on and look them up and share.

@ShootingStar: Ohhh, I got the hat that goes with the set. It was so soft and cozy and I love ear flaps to keep their lil ears warm. I didn't buy the whole suit but I'm a bit tempted to.

The GBS test isn't bad it's just a quick touch with a qtip.

I'm bringing lots of casual dresses with sweaters to the hospital. I had zero desire to put on pants after LO1 but I guess it depends how cold it is.

  38. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@Ash: please do share! I'm all into trying to make him come early, sorry dude but mama is DONE. & YES on people showing up unannounced. I told DH he needs to let his family know that that will not be allowed when J gets here. I have a feeling I won't wear a shirt most of our early nursing days, so if someone just showed up (which is family is famous for) I would be so embarrassed. At least text me to let me know you're on your way so I have a bra on, jeez.

@ms.janedoe: You're in the same mindset I am as far as bringing crap, our hospital gives you just about everything you need so i'm not overpacking! (trying not to at least)

I'm gonna bring J's coming home outfit, something cute in 3 month size because the outfit is NB, a hat, scratch mittens, a swaddle blanket, and his baby book for footprints. & carseat, duh. Undecided on the boppy as of now.

Not bringing anything for DH other than my tablet/chargers because he'll have to go home to let the dog out, so he'll shower/change there.

Does anyone have any sweat/lounge pants they recommend? I feel like i'd be worried about pantylines in yoga pants.. I feel so shallow writing that, but hey, it's the truth! I hate stuff tight across my butt.

Ya'll.. we're talking about packing hospital bags..because our babies could be here anytime! AHHHH

  39. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@MrsTiz: This! Dh's family is the same way!! I'd like some notice. I'm also weird and don't like a lot of company. I'll look for the paper and let you know what she advised. And I have no advise for sweats cuz I don't own any but hopefully someone does!! OH and the panties we give moms are boyshorts so they might not show through...
That's about all I'm taking baby wise too... they'll provide dipes (I'll start cloth when we get home) and wipes and even a binky if I want one. Oh, and I'll throw in a white onesie to wear underneath the sleeper too.

@MrsTiz: Haha, it hasn't even occurred to me that people would possibly show up unannounced. But then, my parents are going to stay with us for a week or two, so I will need to be dressed at all times, lol. Oh, and I assume when people visit us in the hospital I'll just be sitting on the bed, so no need to worry what the butt looks like.

I am a habitual over packer. I pack really well, so I can get away with it. But I like having everything I could possibly need.

@Maysprout: Isn't that line of clothes so cute? The pictures don't do it justice. It's so beautiful and soft in person.

@ms.janedoe: I wish I could be more zen about when the baby comes. I hit 32 weeks and just couldn't take it any more. My GD is still not controlled well, which makes me worried and it's getting really restrictive. And I'm uncomfortable all the time. I get really achy by the end of the work day, then I couldn't get comfortable anywhere in the house last night, and spent the night waking up again and again due to pain from rolling over. I'd love to say "hey, let him cook as long as he needs." If I felt the way I did at 30 weeks I totally could have dealt. And it's crazy because I haven't even gained any weight! I'm still down about 10 pounds from pre-preg weight, so I feel like I should better be able to handle the pressure from the baby, but I guess it doesn't work that way.

It would work out a lot better for us financially if he stays in until when they're likely to induce me, so maybe I should just keep encouraging myself that I can do this. I was thinking of asking my boss if I could work from home a couple days a week so I can at least rest a little more.
