@MrsTiz: So cute and you look like such a natural mommy! I can't wait to see a picture of the blonde curls!
I had an ultrasound yesterday to confirm baby's position (breech) and the tech said that Reagan has hair! At least on the back of her head. That was really exciting news for me. The day I was born, I had enough hair for my mom to put a clip in it and I would love to do the same with Reagan.

@sweetooth: I could share a birthday with my LO too! If they schedule a c-section it would be around 11/15 (that's exactly 39 weeks). My birthday is 11/14 and I requested that the section be 11/15 or before/after 11/14. Not that we do anything special for my birthday and it's no big deal, but I would rather have her own, for herself, and not have to share.
@NeekieRose: I read that before and hearing you say it again makes me wonder if mine ever really turn too? I know my movement has always felt the same also. The midwife that said she turned is not my regular one and is new. She had only been with the practice under a year (wasn't there when I had my last yearly) and is young so I'm not sure how experienced she is. The tech in the hospital did say she was head down and in position last Wednesday, but maybe she read it wrong? I'm fine with a section too. It is what it is and I don't feel like using my energy and time with just DS trying to make a baby turn that obviously doesn't want to be head down

@NeekieRose: @anbanan15: You both are making me feel better about coming to terms with a c-section if little dude doesn't flip. It has been a lot to process in the past few days but I just really can't wait to meet the little guy regardless of how he arrives!
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@sarah.clarisse: I think the last part is the important part "regardless of how he arrives". Hold on to that and I also like to think babies position isn't really up to me, but baby, so maybe thinking along those lines will help you come to terms a little more.

You guys are all over this board! So hard to keep up
@NeekieRose: I'm glad you are at peace with the C...again, all that matters is getting her here safe and sound!

@Mrs. J: Hahahah, I know, our board is crazy!!! I love it!
Ugh, just found out I'm Strep B positive. Laaaame.

My showers this weekend were great! Tiring, overwhelming, but great So much to put away.
Here is a photo of my, my goddaughter, and her little sister from the Sunday shower

@Mrs. J: Ugh, here's hoping you get better results! It's like, I get that it is relatively "common" (more or less), but the thought of NEEDING to be hooked up to an antibiotic IV drip for at least 4 hours before she's born...plus then checking her to make sure she doesn't/didn't get it (and from what I've read this can mean a longer hospital stay? If anyone knows, let me know!), and then the thing that scares me the most--possibly getting thrush right away from the antibiotics!!! Gah!
pear / 1571 posts
@ms.janedoe: You don't have to be hooked up for an entire 4 hours before the birth- they generally just want you to have at least one dose at least 4 hours before birth. You'll probably get a dose as soon as you arrive at the hospital and them every 4 hours after that until the birth. But it doesn't take long to get a dose of antibiotics into you and then you can absolutely be unhooked from the IV. Just make sure to request a hep-lock instead of a direct IV line.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ms.janedoe: Booooooo! Honestly, it shouldn't change anything. They run antibiotics about every 4-8 hours so you can be unhooked between that. And they don't check baby for anything so no need for a longer stay. At least where I've worked, that's how it is.
@Mrs. J: cute pic!

@FarmWifeGina: @Ash: Whew--you ladies sure know how to make someone feel better!!

@Mrs. J: you're beautiful!!! Love the pic!!
@anbanan15: Mine may be on your birthday!! According to the doctors, 39 weeks for me is the 13th and if I get a choice, I'm requesting either the 14th or 15th!
pear / 1571 posts
Or, 8 hours, like @Ash: said, lol. I'm mixed up between the Hibicleanse routine and the antibiotics routine.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ms.janedoe: glad that makes you feel better! It's very common.
@FarmWifeGina: You're not alone - I don't remember what the routine is! I think it depends on the medication too.
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@FarmWifeGina: @Ash: Do you ladies know if thrush is more common/prevalent after being on the antibiotics...or a yeast infection (good lord I can't even IMAGINE dealing with that on top of everything else...)?
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ms.janedoe: I've never seen it while a patient is still in the hospital. Not sure what happens after discharge but I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about.
pear / 1571 posts
@ms.janedoe: I hear a lot more about thrush than vaginal yeast infections. But I'd have to look it up. Maybe just dose up on plenty of probiotic foods and maybe some acidophilus after delivery and hopefully that'll bring your gut back to normal more quickly, before anything has a chance to set in.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@lilteacherbee: yay! I don't mind sharing it with other people's kiddo's, just not my own lol. She should have her own day (even if it's only 12 hours later haha).
@Mrs. J: Aww so cute! Is your goddaughter related to you? Because the girls share some of your facial features.

@NeekieRose: I'm a week out in recovery from my scheduled c-section with my breech baby. It was not as bad as I built it up in my head. I even went a week earlier than I had originally had it scheduled for. I had my staples removed today and I have been doing some things around the house, etc. I really feel good and just wanted to let you know that. I hope it's the same with you!!! Fingers crossed and good thoughts headed to you!!

Anyone else breaking out in sweats? I'm just sitting here in the AC and suddenly will be dripping in sweat...I've never been the type of person that sweats easily, even when working out, so this is so odd to me. I'm usually freezing, even in summer!
apricot / 360 posts
@anbanan15: yes!!!! I typically run a little warm already and much prefer to stay as cold as possible so it's driving me crazy! I'm just soooo warm all of the time. At night I have the ac on full blast sleeping with no blankets or sheets as bare as possible and have a fan on. Poor DH is next to me curled up under extra blankets

Got back from an ultrasound to determine if I'm going to attempt the ECV next week. Little dude is frank breech. I'm now referring to him as yoga dude. He has his feet up covering his face. It's sorta cute the tech estimated him around 7 lbs already. So even though I know they are often off by a pound it's nice to know he's growin on schedule in the case that he comes early.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@sarah.clarisse: are you going to attempt an ECV? Btw I usually need tons of blankets and the weight of them to sleep, but not lately. So hot! But I will wake up like 5 am shivering
apricot / 360 posts
@anbanan15: we haven't decided on the ECV yet. It won't be til the end of next week. So I'm putting my faith in accupuncture and my chiro who is trained in the Webster technique first. That and anything I find on the spinning babies site.
If we do the ECV I'm going into it with the thought that from what I've read when it works the baby flips within the first minute or so of trying and fairly easily. If he seems to fight it we will stop. Relying on my gut feeling in that dept.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Ash: I have none either!! Well, I am attempting to recover some glider cushions, so I guess I have a little motivation. But when it comes to work stuff, it's not pretty. All the extra stuff that comes along with teaching is slipping through the cracks. As long as the kids are learning something and they're all still alive and well, it's a good day
@anbanan15: That's how I would feel as well!! It's kinda a weird feeling to be picking out your kid's birthday, isn't it?
@Jennimac: Good to hear!! I may be having a scheduled c section as well and it's nice to know that the recovery isn't totally horrible. Congrats again on your baby girl!!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: I'm usually always cold too but I've been extra warm/sweaty. Fan on when I'm in bed with the windows open with dh afraid he's gonna freeze to death.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@sarah.clarisse: Keep me updated! My midwife didn't mention anything about trying to do an ECV if she is still in an unfavorable position at 36 weeks, just that we would schedule a section. Not sure if that means they won't attempt one or if she just didn't want to get excited about it until it was necessary, which seems to be how her and my regular OB do things. No sense getting moms worked up before they have to.
On a side note if I end up having a section scheduled it will be the week my midwife is on vacation. I'm fully convinced my babies do not want her to deliver lol. She was on vacation for DS too and my induction was scheduled with my regular OB (I don't like the other OB with the practice as much and the new midwife wasn't there when I had DS). Also if baby girl comes super early, in October, I'm going to tell everyone she didn't want the ugly birthstone...I'm a November baby and I think my birthstone is the ugliest one (I hate yellow though so maybe that's why?).
@lilteacherbee: ohh I want to see the cushions when your done! I intended to do ours with DS and never did and obviously haven't this time around lol. We sort of had to pick DS's too. I was supposed to be induced April 22nd, but got rescheduled for April 23rd and he was born April 24th (Easter Sunday). My original due date was April 21st and I said "watch him come on Easter" the day we found out I was pregnant. My due date got moved up to April 15th and the little stinker still came on Easter! That's why I was thinking Thanksgiving baby for this one, but now I don't know if I can make it that far for so many reasons (my midwife originally thought I was going to go late again as well...not sure what she thinks now if baby turns besides I look like crap lol).
@Ash: oh good that makes me feel better! I feel like I'm getting hot flashes!
** if there are errors, I'm sorry. I'm mobile and too lazy to fix!
pomelo / 5073 posts
@lilteacherbee: oh yes. I haven't taken my pain pills today and I has my staples removed. LO was up in my ribs, a full 2 lbs bigger than she was predicted to be so there was no way she was turning back or could be turn. All in all, I'm glad with the way everything turned out. I do feel better than I did when I had to vaginally deliver our 20 week old when we miscarried her. Physically that was harder on me for lots of reasons. I'm glad I got a different birth experience with her.

@sarah.clarisse: I had a scheduled CS with my first DS. He was breech and we found out 2 days before I hit 37 weeks, so they attempted an ECV at 37 weeks. I would not do it again. I was a little uncomfortable with how they push and push from the outside and don't know *exactly* what they're pushing on. It was unsuccessful, wasn't that uncomfortable. I was devastated - I had accepted that I might have to have a c section after laboring and maybe pushing, but it had never entered my mind that he could be breech. We tried acupuncture, I think I had two sessions. She gave us a stick that we could burn near my toe which we did religiously a couple of times a day which is also supposed to help. I did lots of yoga poses that I read could help, and we played music and shined light low in my abdomen to try to get him interested enough to turn. I don't regret doing any of those things but I do wish I had accepted the section sooner. I know exactly how you feel about feeling like your plans for birth have all been throwing out the window and how hard that is. I finally accepted it a couple of days before the scheduled section, and was able to enjoy the last couple days of pregnancy and look forward to meeting my son.
As for the c section itself - it was AWESOME. I'm not even kidding. I had such a fantastic experience, especially compared to other women I know who have delivered vaginally. I really think the recovery from c section is much easier than recovery from a first time vaginal delivery. I took a couple of Percocet while in the hospital and maybe took one after coming home but the pain was very minimal.
I hope you can work with an OB who would be open to letting you go into labor. If you are near a "family friendly" hospital, they are probably likely to let you schedule a section later in your pregnancy.
If you have questions or anything, feel free to send me a private message, although I'm not sure how that works on here, or post something here if you want to chat more. I'm a physician so might be able to answer some medical questions if you have any too. (I'm not only a patient, I'm also a provider, ha ha.) I know exactly how you feel and would love to help you any way I can.

@anbanan15: ECV are somewhat more likely to be successful in later pregnancies after the first, since the uterus stretches a bit and there is more room for baby to move around. If that helps. Glad you can go to your parents and at least not be solely responsible for DS all day, every day.
I hate complaining about being pregnant too. My first pregnancy was so easy, and this one has been a lot tougher. There are plenty of women who have it worse than me, so I mostly limit my complaints to whining to DH
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@anbanan15: So I don't have a real "before" photo because we painted the glider a few months ago- it used to be a light wood color, but we painted it dark expresso to match the rest of the nursery furniture. It was my grandmother's that she used when my sister and I were babies. My grandfather bought it for her so she could rock us at her house. He passed away in April when I was 8 weeks. We knew it was coming, so I told him that I was pregnant 2 weeks before he passed away. In those 2 weeks, he mentioned numerous times that he wanted me to have the glider for our nursery, so it has a lot of sentimental value. (Side note: my grandmother now lives with my mom and she's getting a brand new glider haha).
But here it is before and after I did the cushions:

@shellio: Honestly, regardless, I'm not comfortable with the idea of an ECV for the reasons you stated. I remember you talking about your time spent trying to turn your LO a few weeks ago and I agree, just let it be and enjoy those last few moments. Yes same thing! My first pregnancy was super easy and really this one hasn't been that bad in terms of actual pregnancy related issues, but toss in a broken leg and my thyroid (diagnosed after DS) and it's been kicking my butt lol.
@lilteacherbee: Love the sentimental value to it! It's looking good! Are you covering it in minky?! That's going to be so comfy and squashy soft! I bet your grandmother is loving her new rocker. Sorry about your grandfather.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@anbanan15: Yes, the minky is so soft!! I'm thinking about making a crib skirt to match since I haven't been able to find one I like in stores or online (that aren't crazy expensive). And yes, my grandma basically told my mom she needed one because she can't sit back and also touch her feet to the floor in my mom's chairs (neither can I! My grandma is 4'9" and I'm 5'0" so we are little people ha!).

@lilteacherbee: looks great! I recovered the cushions on our chair too. The rocker was parents' when my siblings and I were babies.

@lilteacherbee: your chair looks so so comfy and I love that it had sentimental value!!
Our glider gets delivered today and I am beyond excited!! I can't wait to start taking pics to show off the nursery!!
I have a long list of things to do today... one of which includes prepping some dipes. -deep breath-

@shellio: It's so great to hear you say that the scheduled c-section didn't have that bad of a recovery. That is what I'm hoping for!
@lilteacherbee: Glider looks so good!
@Ash: Can't wait to see pics of your nursery! Our dresser should *finally* get delivered this Saturday (it is over a month late), and the nursery will be fully complete!
I am so over working. Counting today, I have 8 days left before starting maternity leave. I have wrapped up almost everything so I just don't have any real motivation. I'm ready for baby to get here!
