@shellio: Thanks for sharing your experience about your breech little one & scheduled c-section. It helps to hear others go through the same sudden change of plans. I'm trying to balance wishful thinking that I can get him to turn & accepting that a C-section isn't the "end of the world" just because it wasn't my first choice.

@ms.janedoe: NO idea. Everyone at work tells me I need to carry around a "Caution Wet Floor" sign just in case my water breaks lol.
SO, we've been thinking boy, but this morning I woke up and said "good morning, baby girl." Uh, where did that come from????

I decided a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to do newborn sized cloth diapers instead of disposables while we waited for the little dude to comfortably fit into his 1-size BG 4.0's. We decided rental was the way to go and they arrived yesterday... OMG little newborn sized cloth diapers might be the cutest thing I've ever seen! It made my day
Today I have my 37 week appointment. Little dude doesn't seem to have moved from the breech position, but I have a second round with the chiro this afternoon to once again work through the Webster technique. The warm weather this weekend also means a lot of handstands in the pool in hopes I can get him to flip!
How is everyone doing?

@sarah.clarisse: Gaaaaah, I know, I have a huge stash of 4.0s for once she's bigger, but have some newborn/infant prefolds for the interim. SO freaking cute (well, I say that now!)! Bummer about your little man still being breech. Good luck with the flipping attempts, but otherwise, good to hear that you're kind of coming to terms with a C-section.
@Mrs. J: Are you still Team Green?! Holy man! That's awesome!
I'm doin' alright otherwise, uncomfortable, but again, that's to be expected I guess! It's only super rough if I'm standing for a long time, and when I first stand up after sitting/lying for awhile. Oh, and trying to turn from one side to the other at night...haahha, I need to like, lift my belly because otherwise it's too heavy to follow my body as I turn. I'm terrified to find out how big babygirl is!

@sarah.clarisse: Doing good over here!
We went to our BF-ing class last night which was pretty good. I learned about the "lay back" position, which I'd never heard of before. And we saw some videos of babies nursing right after birth, which were amazing. After we left last night we both kind of felt like "ok, we've done all we can do preparing, bring on the baby!"
Also, I had my 2nd NST this morning. Baby boy is doing perfect so far. Oh, and I had a thread about this (asking about STD) but I got my official job offer yesterday, which means I get paid maternity leave! And a guaranteed job to come back to :D.

@ShootingStar: Oh hell freaking yes! Congrats, lady! PAID maternity leave and a guaranteed job? Bring on the celebration for you!!! Nice!

@sarah.clarisse: Yeah, it is hard to find that balance. It sounds like you are dealing with it. I think the hardest thing for me was when my relatives started talking to me about attempting breech vaginal birth, which I did NOT feel comfortable with, and giving me tips for getting him to turn, which I had already read up on. (I can use google too, thank you very much.) At that point I was like, okay, maybe I am dwelling on this a little too much.
@ms.janedoe: I feel the same way, not super uncomfortable but getting up from sitting/lying and moving around in bed are the hardest! Plus I have my body pillow lying next to me in bed so I'm sure I look pretty funny trying to climb over it every morning.
@ShootingStar: Smart to go to a BF-ing class. I didn't with my son, and eventually we figured things out, but I think it would have been helpful. Nobody told me how hard it could be!! When my son was 1 day old, I laid him on my chest, and somehow he just wiggled his body right over to my breast and started nursing. It amazed me how he knew just what to do and how to get there, it seems like they couldn't know anything at 1 day old!!

@shellio: Yes, that's what we saw in the video, it was really cool!
@ms.janedoe: Yeah, my boss was insisting that they would still keep me on as a contractor if they couldn't get the rec for my job, but I feel so much more secure now. Only bad thing is that contractor pay doesn't include benefits, so the hourly rate is WAY higher than what I'll make as a regular employee.

@ms.janedoe: what newborn prefolds did you get? We rented Bummis Tiny Fit AIO's and I also purchased a couple of Thirsties Duo Wraps & GMD prefolds to round out the newborn stash.

@MrsTiz: how are you feeling? How's the little man doing? How are these first few days at home going?
@ms.janedoe: your nursery is so cute, I'm kinda jealous that we're not doing one!

@sarah.clarisse: I ordered the GMD prefolds with Thirsties Duo Wraps. Here's hopin' it all works out!
@FarmWifeGina: Thank you!!!

@ms.janedoe: @Mrs. J: Congrats on making it to full term!
@ShootingStar: Congrats on the job security and paid maternity leave! So awesome! And I'm thinking I should take a breastfeeding class too, or at least watch some more videos on it. Glad you feel prepared and ready
@sarah.clarisse: Handstands in the pool sounds like SO much fun right now! I would love to get in a pool and feel weightless. Good luck with your attempts to turn the baby, and also I think it's healthy to process the information about a c-section and letting go of the birth you imagined.

I'm 34w 1d today and I'm feeling good. This was the first week I asked for help in putting my socks on one morning. I love my husband We have survived 2 weeks of this bathroom renovation and I anticipate it going at least another 2 weeks. So until then, all I can do is keep focusing on my work goals (things I want to achieve before maternity leave) and holiday planning. I also should really buy some sheets for the crib. I think that's the one outstanding item on my list. And do you all have a miracle blanket? Or are you just going to swaddle with a regular wrap?

@ShootingStar: Yay for the job!!! That's awesome!! I'd be so thrilled to have paid maternity leave!
We had a field trip today and I'm beat! All the parents were impressed that I'm still here haha. Tomorrow is our all day childbirth class and then we have a baby shower on Sunday! Next week I have another ultrasound to measure growth and then we may be scheduling a c section! It's all getting so real!!

@sarah.clarisse: we did gmd fitteds (with and without snaps) and prefolds, thirsties duo wraps and kissaluv fitteds.
@ms.janedoe: @Mrs. J: yay for full term!
@ShootingStar: congrats on the job, what a relief!

@ShootingStar: That is AMAZING about the job! Congrats!!!!
@sarah.clarisse: we have Kissaluvs fitted and Bummis and Thirsties wraps for NB diapers, and 4.0s and Freetimes for after.
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Ash: My friend said the Freetimes are great for travel/leaving the house because they are trimmer in your diaper bag.

@Mrs. J: good to know! I bought some off the classifieds earlier this week. I think I'm up to 18 dipes... Only need a few more!

Those of you cloth diapering... have you prepped your diapers yet? I finally got everything and I'm just staring at it overwhelmed by how many pre-washes to do etc!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@sarah.clarisse: I'm in the process of prepping my gmds... I have 2 loads going (1 in wash and 1 in dryer) both on wash cycle #3! It's not bad, honestly!
@Mrs. J: I'm waiting for baby's arrival to get more gender specific dipes!
apricot / 360 posts
@Ash: are running the GMDs with a regular amount of soap on each wash or just basically a bunch of rinse cycles? I know I've looked this up before but now I'm feeling lazy! Ha!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Ash: good idea I think we'll do that too. Then I get get some girly ones if baby is a girl!
@sarah.clarisse: I prepped the NB ones, but none of the BGs yet
honeydew / 7909 posts
@sarah.clarisse: I did a cold wash with detergent (highest load setting) and then did a hot cycle with half the amount of detergent... Then dry on hot and repeat 4x.

@Mrs. J: yes! Especially since you called baby a girl this morning

@Ash: seriously, we're pretty convinced it's a boy...I don't know WHERE that came from!

@sweetooth: we have Halo sleepsack swaddles, woombies and a+a blankets to swaddle.
apricot / 360 posts
@sweetooth: we have a+a blankets plus a couple of the swaddle me ones (that have the Velcro and stuff). Honestly Im not sure how or what we are going to use but DH seems confident in his swaddling knowledge. It's cute

@Ash: How did stripping/prepping your diapers go? I have mine soaking in a storage container right now. I wanted to do a long strip/soak since they have been in storage. Still need to wash all the new ones
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: I ordered a few used freetimes so I'm waiting for them to come and then I'm gonna start the stripping. I'm finally done prepping my gmds (prefolds and fitteds) and that went well. Now I have to prep my thirsties and wash my covers... Maybe I should be doing that instead of laying around! Hahah
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Ash: Have fun! Will they arrive soon? haha yea I was just going to say I'm doing something productive today, but once I put the diapers in the container I'm pretty much just sitting around until I feel like washing them lol.

You guys move fast! I haven't been on much. Il catch up later!
As for all the stuff I was stressing about before birth seems so pointless now. So I'm biting my tongue because were inviting as many people over as possible for help, I didn't take a single thing with me to the hospital and only had DH bring me a big outfit to come in. My situation was probably a bit different but I wasn't allowed to shower and we didn't bother with his coming home outfit.
Nursing is impossible. Jack won't latch at all and won't even try, so after days of crying every time we tried I decided the best route for us was just to pump milk and bottle feed him and it's been much less stressful. Not my ideal situation but it's all that's working for us. Jack is a good baby, he doesn't cry and donesnt get too fussy, he hiccups a lot which is so sad but so funny.
DH has been a freaking rockstar, he's doing so good taking care of Jack and I. He's really surprised me, he took a lot more time off work than I thought he would so that he can be with us and take care of us (mostly me)
As for me, recovery has been smooth because I didn't tear or need stitches so I feel good physically. Mentally I'm the complete opposite, but I knew I would be this way because I could feel my depression coming on towards the end of my pregnancy so no surprise about baby blues/ ppd.
And now what you've all been waiting for ...
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: being lazy seems like much more fun... but I'll be regretting it if baby comes and it isn't done! I bought them off the classifieds this week so they'll be here in a few days, I'm thinking. You need to rest! You've been run ragged, mama!
pineapple / 12234 posts
@MrsTiz: ahhh!!! You look beautiful and he is PERFECT! I see both you and your DH in baby J!
Hoping the baby blues go away soon! Don't feel bad about pumping - I did the same for the first 8 weeks until E could get a wider, better latch.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@MrsTiz: Ahhhhhh! You must be so in love! Precious precious precious! so happy for you and your dh. And kudos to him for being so awesome! Glad to hear everything is going better! We're here for you - make sure if you think you have ppd, you tell someone. Thanks for the gorgeous pics - you look amazing too!
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@MrsTiz: those pictures are precious! I'm glad to hear you found a solution for feedings that works for you! I was actually thinking the same thing about the hospital bag...I packedine according to a list and only ended up using clothing to come home for both DS and I and everything else was pointless to bring. Hope your mental state catches up to the physical soon! Yay for no stitches!!
@Ash: I will feel the same way, so I know I need to get moving, just no motivation
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: motivation? What's that? My get up and go got up and left!
Second time mamas, any pad recommendations for after I get home?
