@ms.janedoe: hooray for zero baby experience!!! That's exactly how I feel. It's making me panic a bit, but DH assures me that we are both smart enough to figure it out
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@sarah.clarisse: Hahaahah, yep. As embarrassing as it is, I've never changed a diaper in my life. Ever. I mean, growing up, I was just never around/exposed to babies! I figure people have somehow been figuring it out for years and years, 2 responsible, educated/decently-intelligent adults shhhhhould be able to figure it out...right? Right?!

So apparently my feet really did grow since getting pregnant... and my riding boots no longer fit. I'm thinking I'll live in leggings and boots postpartum (especially at the holidays).
What do you girls think of these?

The pair I wanted went off sale and are 20 dollars more expensive now... not the price i want to spend anymore.

@Ash: Not yet. Just was saying I will be on Thursday (looking ahead) and feel ready to not be pregnant anymore.
Just got back from the OB and said almost 3 cm and 50% effaced so the show is getting on the road, which I kinda figured with how many contractions (though not regular or anything) and been losing a lot of MP. But it could still be 2 weeks before baby or it could be tomorrow.
@ms.janedoe: With LO1 I felt the same way. I diapered a few stuffed animals before baby arrived for practice.

@Maysprout: Yeah but today is Monday and Thursday is so close! Yay for a good appointment!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@Maysprout: I'd say you're definitely gettin' goin'! Congrats!! When are you due again (and I have a feeling you just said it on the previous page...next Thursday was it?)? Baaahahah, yep, I whipped out a teddy bear to try my hand at the prefolds we have... No shame!
@Ash: Those are super cute! My feet haven't gotten huuugely bigger, but there's one or two pairs of shoes I can tell are a little...tighter. Also, I can tell my calves (holy balls, is that the right spelling? I feel like I've looked at it too many times and can't think straight now...) have gotten bigger because some of my boots are tight--noooo!
Totally gross, but has anyone started losing their mucus plug yet? There's been zero action with that one so far, and I'm curious when it might start happening (if it does). Yeah, yeah, yeah, it doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I can still look into it, right?! I'm starting to worry about my bellybutton... I had it pierced forever, then took the piercing out last summer. My bellybutton has popped, but the skin that was over the piercing is suuuuuper stretched...not good!

@ms.janedoe: I've started losing pieces of it!
@Maysprout: oh my gosh, 39 weeks?!?! Crazy! I'll be 38 on Thursday
@Ash: Cute boots!!!
So the pains that I had when walking on Saturday have sporadically occurred today, so I am clearly not overexerting myself. Hmm. I definitely think LO is dropping...I'll have to do a picture comparison like @ms. janedoe.

@ms.janedoe: Yup next Thursday, on Halloween. I think my chart might say Nov 1st because one of the nurses at my early appointments said oh no you don't want a Halloween due date and said we'll make it Nov. 1st. But the Dr's seem to go back and forth depending on who I see so not really sure.
@ms.janedoe: I've been losing little bits of mine since the end of my 2nd tri, but it's my 2nd pregnancy. With my first it didn't start happening until maybe a week or two before birth and not much until I was having regular contractions, then it all happened at once.
@Ash: Cute boots

@ms.janedoe: I should've thought about an outfit for this weekend's wedding before today. I tried on some pre pregnancy clothes today and YIKES! Nothing.fits.not.even.my.shoes.

@Ash - Those boots are cute. My feet definitely grew, which supremely sucks since now I wear a size 12. It was hard enough finding shoes in 11s, now it's pretty much impossible to buy anything in a store and the online selection is pretty limited. Thank goodness for Zappos and free returns.

@stine_ciro: will our feet shrink? I have a crap load of shoes I can't wear anymore. P.S. I
zappos!

@Maysprout: It's coming up so soon for you!
@Ash: You'll have to show us your mad swaddling skills with photographic proof // Those boots are cute. I'm not sure I like the heel color on the brown ones. But the price is right! I bought some ankle booties at the start of September and I hope they continue to fit me. My feet have always been super narrow, and it does seem like they have gotten a bit wider. I wonder if they go back to normal or not. I would miss some of my shoes!
@ms.janedoe: Zero baby experience here too! // Keep applying lotion to your belly button and tummy. Does the stretching hurt at all?
@Mrs. J: So do you think the pains are the beginning of something? Hope you're not experiencing too much pain.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@sweetooth: I found a different pair I like better Hahahaha! Once baby comes, I'll show pics of a tightly swaddled little babe! I have the best job ever - it has prepared me to be a mommy over the past few years. Well, a mommy to a newborn. Not sure what to do after that!!
@ms.janedoe: I haven't started losing my mucous plug yet... the thought of that gives me the heeby jeebies. As for the belly button, mine is sooooo squishy but not popping out!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@sweetooth: I've been lubin' it up like crazy! It DOES hurt! Only on the area that was over the piercing! So gross. Blah.
@Ash: Mucous plug. Ewwwww. Hahahahah. Yeah, I keep waitin' for it, but nothing yet!
Over the course of yesterday/this morning, I think I can FINALLY say that I'm feeling some intense heavy-ness/pressure/pain in my pelvis/hips/crotch...weird!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ms.janedoe: The area over where my piercing was is squishy and feels weird to touch it... like it's ticklish! / Baby girl is getting ready to enter the world!! Mine is still just chillin - hoping to get the u/s today to verify baby isn't head down!

My belly button is freaking me out. I had it pierced when I was 14 and took it out ages ago -- now it's all stretched out and weird. I had the deepest innie and now I can see the bottom! It keeps getting stuck half in/half out, which really disturbs me, and I hate it touching things or being touched.
My cervical check is tomorrow and I'm super anxious. It's my first one and I've convinced myself it's going to hurt like crazy.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@MrsDragon: I had a cervical check when I was being observed for preterm labor at 27 weeks. It didn't hurt at all - and I was shocked!!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@sweetooth: I think it's the baby dropping, but I don't know. I'd like the little sucker to bake a little longer...at least get me to November!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: I think you'll make it to November - dropping usually happens a week or 2 before labor, doesn't it? I think. I don't think it relates to when you'll go into labor.

@Mrs. J: Is it supposed to hurt when the baby drops??
Since 32 weeks I've been feeling more pelvic discomfort and pressure, but when I look at comparison pictures, he just looks bigger and not necessarily lower :-/.
I have my 36 appointment a week from today and I'm really curious if I'll be dilated, and how it'll go for scheduling the induction at 39 weeks. IDK if they'll wait until my 38 week appointment and then schedule it? Or would they just wait until a day or 2 before? My midwife told me to expect it to be scheduled for sometime Wednesday - Friday of that week. Ideally it would be on Wednesday and I'd know beforehand and just take Monday and Tuesday off to rest. I'd prefer not to go to an appointment on Tuesday and get told "ok let's do this Wednesday or Thursday".
Luckily so far no feet growing or swelling here. I'm still wearing my rings too. I hope I don't forget to take them off before we go to the hospital, they're pretty much a part of me and I forgot I'm wearing them.
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Ash: That's what I figured. You can drop like a month ahead, and it means nothing.
@ShootingStar: I don't know if it's supposed to hurt, but I'll ask the midwife tomorrow. I had mentioned pelvic pain before (more pinching like), and she didn't seem concerned. I'm still wearing my rings too!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ShootingStar: Oh man, I haven't been able to wear my rings for a couple weeks now. I'm not swelling though.
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@Ash: Yeah, I've had mine off for awhile. I can still fit 'em on and off around mid-day, but I'd rather not risk getting 'em stuck...that's the WORST feeling ever!!
I SO wish I could get an idea of when baby will come!!! It could be tonight, or I could still be like...maybe even 3-4 weeks out!!! I want to knowwww!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ms.janedoe: same! I hate thinking "I can get them on now but will they come off later?"
I agree! I hate not knowing!
persimmon / 1386 posts
@MrsDragon: I had a cervical check last week and I actually thought it did hurt. But I will probably still have one tomorrow at my appointment just because I am curious if anything is happening.
I am still wearing my rings and I think I am going to be able to make it the whole way with them. But need to remember to take them off before heading to the hospital.
Speaking of heading to the hospital....as long as baby stays breech (which I actually would prefer at this point), we will be heading to the hospital one week from right now!!

Ugggh, I was looking at Christmas dresses on Carter's just now--they're so expensive! For a (ridiculously adorable) dress, sweater, tights, I'm up to like, 45 bucks--and that's AFTER the 40% off plus 20% off coupon!! I honestly can't remember the last time I spent that much on clothes for ME!! Hahahha, man, so it begins!
OK, another question, is anyone actually doing like...Christmas presents for the baby? DH and I were talking about it and I...don't really see the point. I just got done spending 9 months buying stuff for babygirl...she's a month-ish old...ehhhhh... Hahahah, he thinks we have to get her "something..." I think as of now we've settled on an ornament or something. Hahahaha, we're not bad people, I swear!
apricot / 360 posts
@NeekieRose: how many weeks will you be when then schedule the c-section if baby stays breech? My understanding is they typically schedule at 39 weeks which is Halloween for me! So I am planning on asking for a few extra days!
apricot / 360 posts
@ms.janedoe: I don't think we will do much as far as Christmas presents this year. A first ornament for sure... I'm super excited about that. I expect family will get him more than he needs for his first Xmas!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@ms.janedoe: I think we'll do something super small so we can say that he/she got it for 1st Xmas, but idk. I'm sure all the grandparents will take care of it!
persimmon / 1386 posts
@sarah.clarisse: I will be 39+4. The hospital here will not schedule before 39 weeks and that falls on this Saturday for me and no scheduled c-sections happen over the weekend and Monday was full. So Tuesday at 2pm it is.
I'm just ready for her to be here. I actually don't mind being pregnant and am not at the point of being done with being pregnant, but I just want to hold our baby!
Which is why at this point I would be disappointed if she flipped and I had to wait longer for her to come. My leave is already scheduled to start next week, my mom bought her plane ticket, and we are ready for baby!!
She has the hiccups all the time, and I have always felt them at the top of my bump, so I think as long as I am still feeling them there (like I am at this exact second), she is still breech.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ms.janedoe: Holy smokes! I never thought about a Christmas outfit. Oh geez. And as for a gift, what would you even buy for a 1 month old? Someone already got us an ornament so we already have that. Hmm.
@NeekieRose: 1 week? Ahhhhhhh!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@NeekieRose: I was just thinking about hiccups! Baby is supposedly head down, but I always feel them at the top right of my bump! I can feel them in my butt, too, so maybe she's just gettin' so big that everything moves! Who knows...
persimmon / 1386 posts
@ms.janedoe: I told DH that we aren't getting her anything for Christmas. We will probably end up getting her *something* but I think the grandparents and other family and friends will spoil her. So we can save for her daycare bills that will start in January....
persimmon / 1386 posts
@ms.janedoe: I did some reading about the location of hiccups and it seems that most often if they are felt above the belly button they are breech, but there were plenty of people who said they felt hiccups lower even with a breech baby or high with a head down. I'm more basing it on I have always felt them high and she has always been breech....so she must still be?
clementine / 825 posts
@NeekieRose: I can feel the hiccups everywhere and she is head down. Her butt and back are still up fairly high and they always shake when she has them.
Still no drop for Baby M, mucous plug is still in tact, and my rings are still on with no swelling YET. Am I supposed to take them off before the hospital in case is well with IV fluids? Does this apply even if I'm trying to go med free?
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@Cara M. 17: This sounds like exactly where I'm at! I would say DEFINITELY take the rings off...you nevvvver know what could happen and the last thing I'd want to worry about would be my rings!
clementine / 825 posts
@ms.janedoe: Ok sounds good!
Is anyone else having a miserable time sleeping? My hips, ribs, and legs cannot take this side sleeping anymore, no matter how many pillows or body pillows I use!
Also is anyone planning to or already drinking red raspberry leaf tea? I had a cup over the weekend (35 weeks) then had a bunch of BH so DH and I decided I should wait until full term. Maybe it was a coincidence but we would rather be safe!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@Cara M. 17: Ugh, sleeping blows. I totally (again!) feel the same way! I get sooooo sore, and getting up to pee (4+ times a night...) sucks because then I have to hoist myself up and then try to get re-situated after!
I don't plan on drinking any tea. I haven't seen enough evidence that it's safe enough/effective enough to give it a shot. How does it taste??
coconut / 8472 posts
@ms.janedoe: We haven't figured out exactly what we want to do about Christmas presents. DH's FAVORITE holiday is Christmas, and he'd really like Declan to have at least a stocking. We're obviously not going to buy a ton of presents for the baby, since he's got a room full of new stuff. And I don't even know what to put in the stocking, lol. Wth is a good present for a newborn? They can't enjoy toys all that much and we have a million books.
