@NeekieRose: Look at that adorable little face! Congratulations to you and your husband!
@lilteacherbee: You are not a horrible daughter. This day is as much about you and your growing family as it is about your mom. So take that special time as a new family - and then she'll be just fine an hour later. Seriously, parents! (I'm dealing with stresses of my own related to parents, so I'm with you!)

@stine_ciro: Congrats on the last day of work!!! My last day is Friday--I'm also right in the early stages of a cold...which blowwwwws. Feel better soon!!!
@lilteacherbee: Again, totally lame on the cold. Get better, woman! That sucks about your mom... Bottom line, you have YOUR new little family you're lookin' out for, and that's what you have to focus on! Your momma will eventually get over it--don't let her stress you out (I know, easier said than done!)!
@neekierose: CONGRATS!!! SO happy for you! She's freaking GORGEOUS! You did well, momma!!

I had my weekly OB appt this morning, and was prepared to get the GBS test and a cervical check. Well, I'm 1 day shy of 36 weeks so they want to hold off until I'm 36 weeks for the GBS. Because some first time mothers go until 41 weeks and if I test early, and go that late, they would have to do the GBS test again. Ok. So the appt was basic. No cervical check - just a little poking around to confirm location of baby. All stats look good. And then I had some time to kill between this appt and my scheduled u/s to monitor my son's kidneys. It's something we've been monitoring since week 20. Well, with the "out of the blue" u/s from last week it made it unlikely that insurance would be happy to pay for another u/s this week. Do you think they could have told me this last week though? No. So I spent the morning for a whole lot of nothing. But you know what? I'll take a whole lot of nothing. Because I came home to hear news from my contractor that certain timelines are slipping. So as much as I thought this whole renovation project would wrap within another week I think I need to prepare myself for more time under construction. And less time to nest.
You know my mantra though right now?
Too blessed to be stressed
I saw it in a blog last week and I love it. At this time last year I was working through a series of tests and appointments to learn if we would ever be able to conceive. And now here I am, 35w6d pregnant, renovating our master bath/bed, and feeling good. So I shall continue to focus on the good. And cheer on all of my fellow November mamas

@Mrs. J: @ms.janedoe: @sweetooth: Thanks, it's just frustrating. I know I'm doing the right thing for us, I just feel guilty? I may as well get used to it though because she's like this about a LOT of things....like last week she was shocked and disgusted almost when I said I would like to breastfeed for a year. Anything I do differently than what she did, she takes it as a personal attack. Like "you and your sister turned out fine. That's crazy!" Ahhhh.
@sweetooth: I LOVE that mantra! It's so true Throughout our year plus of TTC and our miscarriage, I often wondered if I'd ever have a baby in my arms. Now with 2 weeks to go, I'm feeling so blessed!
One of my friends who was 1.5 weeks ahead of me had her baby early this morning!! So happy for her and so ready to meet mine!

@NeekieRose: Oh my goodness...congrats! She's precious! @sweetooth: I LOVE that mantra!
I am so jealous of all of you that have a specific end date for work! My own choosing, I guess, but I'm trying to work through next week (my due date). I've decided that if I'm overdue, I'm probably NOT going to want to teach teenagers all day...

@lilteacherbee: My mom was the same way, but once I had the baby she kind of backed off. They still think we are kind of crazy for co-sleeping, cloth diapering, and baby wearing, but you gotta do what works for your new family.

It's our third full day home and after waking every two hours to nurse last night I was determined to "nap when baby naps" all day. I'm exhausted. Well.... The city has decided today is a great day to jack-hammer the sidewalk outside my apt window. Awesome! Of course newborns sleep through it fine... New mamas not so much.

@sarah.clarisse: Hahaha, oh nooooo!!! Will they be done soon with the construction?! How's nursing going?

@ms.janedoe: it looks like they might just be doing construction today. When it started I laughed.. . What are the chances!
Nursing is going great. Thanks for asking.

Looks like this might be an October baby after all. Woke up last night at 1 am convinced something was wrong, did a kick count and only got 3 movements in 30 min, so I went in to the hospital. After 3 hours here, they just admitted me for low amniotic fluid and are going to induce me today. Not really how I planned to spend my Halloween, but glad I followed my instincts and that she's on her way.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@stine_ciro: good luck mama! My induction took until just after midnight so you might squeak in with a November 1st baby!! Either way, it's only hours now

@lilteacherbee: My mom's favorite phrase is "Well, back in the days of the dinosaurs..." in reference to when she was a mom. I know that she has knowledge and is a wonderful mother, but I need her to be open to the the fact that times have changed, and I may just want to figure things out with my husband and on our own. Knowing she is available to help is so comforting, but keeping the remarks to herself would be an even bigger help. // Congratulations to your friend who had her baby! You're going to meet yours so soon!
@Mrs. J: It's a good mantra to have on a little post-it note that you can see every day Your last day of work will be here before you know it!
@sarah.clarisse: Glad to hear that breastfeeding is going well. I hope the jackhammering didn't last all day long. I find that working from home introduces you to all of the noises that happen while you're usually away in an office setting. I bet you'll be sleeping through that jackhammer someday
@stine_ciro: Good for you for trusting your instincts! Lots of luck to you today!

@sweetooth: Yep, sounds like my mom. But she takes everything SO personally and she's generally not open minded at all (about anything). It really kinda worries me that she will be watching the baby for the first couple of months when I go back to work. I mentioned that I probably wouldn't start solids until around 6 months and she acted like I had 3 heads. She was like "well I fed you baby food at 3 months and you're fine." Yes, but it's MY decision. Then she says, "Well he'll get some food when he's with me" basically saying she would go behind my back. So, so frustrating.
@stine_ciro: OMG good luck!! Can't wait to read an update
coconut / 8472 posts
@lilteacherbee: My mom started talking about doing rice cereal in bottles to get the baby sleep I was like "yeah they don't recommend doing that now, no solids before 6 months." She's generally awesome, but in this know it all voice, she was like, "well then the baby won't sleep through the night then." *sigh* ok Mom. She's said a couple times my baby, my decisions. We'll see if she sticks to that.
@stine_ciro: Good luck!
AFM, you guys have probably seen my other thread about the high blood pressure and other stuff. I really thought I was going to go in today and hand them my jug of pee and they were going to tell me things were fine. But in the past 2 days I've gone from trace amounts of proteins to moderate amounts (+1), to fairly significant amounts (+3/340mg/dL). They kind of scared me because they said I need to work at least part of the time from home and get my BP down, or I'll end up on bed rest. I'm not really sure what the deal with the proteins is, if that's a sign it's just going to get worse?
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@ShootingStar: Hope you get some answers. Protein had always been +1 since BFP for me and they have never said anything, but I don't have high bp (in general mine is low).
coconut / 8472 posts
@anbanan15: I didn't have any proteins until this week. And my BP was high a little bit at the end of the 1st tri (*might* have been related to a little too much hot-tubbing on our anniversary trip). But ever since then it's been right in the normal range - 120s over 180s.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
Okay so I *think* the tech said baby was head down at our u/s Tuesday, but ever since I've been having HUGE movements again. Like across the room belly shifting, rolling etc, which had me a little concerned she is moving again? Err
My cousin is due 2 days before me and she goes today to find out when they will take the baby, probably within the next week. She has a placental lake (but my aunt didn't know any more details) and is of AMA...I'm not really sure any of the details though. She hasn't really told anyone anything.
@ShootingStar: Probably more of a concern because of the sudden change. I hope you get some answers and things calm down. I'm glad your doctor is being proactive and on too of everything, even if it is a little alarming.
pear / 1571 posts
Good luck @stine_ciro! She'll be here soon!
@anbanan15: SUCH A MIND GAME!
@ShootingStar: Hope it turns out to be nothing, or resolves itself.
I finally got my negative GBS test results that I've been hoping for. Last foreseeable hurdle to our planned home birth. And my backup doc is putting a prescription for a new breast pump in the mail, so now I have to call and see what my insurance will cover.
Ha! And ya wanna hear something crazy? Sometimes more than a week between due dates isn't enough when you commit to photographing one birth and agreeing to be a backup doula for another birth. Well, it totally looks like I could be attending one or both births this weekend! I'm just really hoping they don't both overlap. Really, really. Stressing out a little, but things usually work out in the birth world. It wouldn't be quite as stressful if both clients were in the same town, but no, they're 3 hours apart in opposite directions. Lol. Oy vey. Seriously, the only thing that could further complicate this weekend would be if *I* went into labor. Which, I'm not really planning on, but at this rate, I could just about believe anything.
coconut / 8472 posts
@anbanan15: My baby seems like he's doing that, but he's always been head down. Something about the way he moves, (maybe his legs?) feels like this giant rolling, but he's never flipped. So maybe it's not as bad as you think :).
So I called my ob/midwife office with some questions and I'm REALLY glad I did. So I asked if I should move my next appointment from Thursday to earlier in the week. They said yes and I'm doing the 24 hour collection on Monday and then NST/OB on Tuesday.
They think that appointment will be kind of definitive for what's going on, but the nurse said the OB thinks next week is my last week of anything at work either way and to be prepared. They also advised that I WFH on Friday and Monday and rest as much as possible until the appointment. I wish they'd given me that direction earlier - kind of helpful to know. I also need to monitor my BP through out the next few days and let them know if it goes high again. In good news, my preliminary GBS results are negative. I'll know definitive results in a few days.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@ShootingStar: hopefully! Although I am mentally prepared for a c-section at this point so it doesn't really matter to me, I would just like to know. With DS movement was extremely hard for me to feel and I never felt big movements like this. He was also head down the entire time. I've had 5 u/s so far and she has been in a different position each one!
Glad you called! Good luck next week and yay for a negative GBS!

@stine_ciro: Hope you're doing well! Thinking of you!
@lilteacherbee: I know what you mean about those statements she'll make that worry you about leaving your baby with her. Hopefully once the baby is here you can really say, "Mom, this is my child, and I make the decisions for my child. I need you to honor and respect that." Or at least that's what I hope to say Feel free to vent anytime. I'm sure I'll need to vent too!
@ShootingStar: Such an eventful day for you! I hope that you had a good talk with your boss. It's great that there's flexibility and understanding at work, one less stress. Put your feet up tonight and take it easy. Baby DC will be here soon!
@FarmWifeGina: Yay for negative GBS results! Good luck with all of those photo shoots!

@stine_ciro: thinking of you!
@FarmWifeGina: Oh my. You are so motivated!
@anbanan15: I feel big huge movements all the time but I don't think baby is changing positions. At this point, I think it's rare but anything can happen!
@ShootingStar: Oh man, what a week for you huh? Fingers crossed things get better. I have a feeling of you continue to spill protein, they'll induce you but I hope that doesn't happen.
So, drama at work regarding my fmla and not qualifying (I'm short 50hrs that I have to get over the next 2.5 weeks) and I only work 24 a week which aren't always guaranteed. I have awesome coworkers that are willing to give up their hrs so I can get mine though. Fingers crossed baby doesn't come early!
And dh and I both think baby dropped. He's like "what's that mean? Do we go to the hospital?" He's so cute!
pear / 1571 posts
@Ash: HA! Motivated or insane. More than likely insane. But 50 hours in 2.5 weeks at 9 months pregnant sounds pretty motivating and exhausting to me.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@FarmWifeGina: Bahahah! If it gets me 12 weeks off with my baby, I'll do whatever I have to! It does irritate me though. And irritating someone who's 9mos pregnant isn't good. Grrrrr!
But what you're doing sounds like fun, honestly. You can be my doula.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Ash: Yes I agree. If she is head down turning is unlikely at this point, but she has just been all over the place with each u/s that I wouldn't be surprised! She is still so so high too. I literally can feel her butt (or head?) right under my breasts with those big movements!
I'm glad your coworkers are being so helpful! 50 hours in 2.5 weeks does not sound like fun right now, but you've got this! So cute about your DH! And I've been meaning to ask but how is the prep/nursery coming along? I still can't get motivate to do it
All of those with mama issues, I'm so sorry you are dealing with that! My dad is sort of that way. He repeatedly does things I do not approve of and the one thing a few weeks ago had me so infuriated that I totally blew up at him and was hysterical. I think the things I said finally put it in a perspective that he is starting to understand...I think (he mainly lets DS do things without thinking of potential dangers involved and are sometimes things I am not comfortable with DS doing). Similar reasons are also why no one else in either side of the family has been able to watch DS, especially due to his FPIES and their unwillingness and/or inability to try and understand and follow his restrictions.
My mom has always done things as we asked. While she might not always agree with all of our parenting decisions she does respect that they are our decisions and has always said she wants to do things as closely to the way we do them as possible to make it easier on DS and us. My parents are the only ones that have ever watched DS and my dad rarely alone until recently, but my mom is usually there too.

Congrats to the new babies/mamas!! We need a November babies thread now!
I can't find time to get on the computer and I hate typing on my phone but I just wanted to let everyone know I'm thinking of you all and wishing everyone was more comfortable! So many c-sections planned!! Crazy to think all these babes will be here soon since its November tomorrow! Eek!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: I guess baby girl just isn't 100% ready to cooperate just yet, huh?
As for the nursery... yeah... it's the same. DH and I are going to get it in order this weekend. I still have a few things left to get to complete it but overall it's good enough for now since baby won't be in it right away anyways.
I still need to wash the used diapers I've bought. I keep pushing that off. Ugh. It's just not appealing to me right now.
@MrsTiz: Hope everything is going well for you! You should start the November babies thread
grapefruit / 4681 posts
IT'S NOVEMBER!!!
My cousin is having her baby today (EDD 11/20). My aunt said induction; but it's scheuled for mid-day, so I'm thinking she is scheduled for a c-section? They just decided yesterday that they are taking the baby today.
@Ash: Haha yea thinking that she won't come until Thanksgiving if she is head down really killed what little motivation to get it done I may have had. Good luck finishing it this weekend! Just bite the bullet and do the diapers lol. That's basically how I had to think about it to get it done...btw I have no clue where to put them all!! The diaper drawer I used last time also needs to hold some of her clothing since the other dresser drawer is for DS's clothing still.
@MrsTiz: Glad to hear your doing well! I've been thinking about you. You should totally start the November babies thread, with birth stats please I love reading birth stats!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: It could be an induction. We start them at all hours of the day where I work. Hope all goes well for her.
As for the diapers... I don't wannaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! I'm so so tired! I've been coming into work at 3am the past couple of days and it is seriously kicking my arse. I hope I find motivation to work on the nursery!!
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Ash: Aww I'm sure you have enough other diapers to last you until you get the energy to do them or you could hold off until things calm down at work just before baby comes. It is a lot of work to strip them, but mostly just the time involved and the washer does the rest, so sleep when it's doing it's thing!
Could be an induction. We'll see. I think there is so much more going on though than just she has a placental lake and is delivering early and she is just not telling anyone...well our side of the family. We got the feeling his side of the family knew something we didn't because someone made the comment about her needing preemie clothing at her shower (why would she need that unless something was up, kwim?) and she wasn't sharing the name, but they acted like they knew the name already. Haha If you can't tell we are not very close, just happen to be pregnant at the same time.

So I'm on the first of 4 days of chilling on the couch/bed. DH decided to stay home with me and keep me company and help out incase I needed it :). I am feeling a little bit of nesting, which was making him a little crazy since I'm supposed to be resting. We tend to keep a ton of junk on our kitchen table and all of a sudden I felt this need to finally clean it up. And of course I sent him around to various floors of our house to put things away, lol. I have a feeling I'll move to our kitchen island next. There's not much else to be done in the house, everything is just waiting for baby.
