I can't believe it's November.
Today concludes week 4 of our master bath/bed renovation and unfortunately, I think they will still be here for another 2 weeks. They had originally said this project would take 4 weeks, which I knew could mean 5. But knowing that they will be here well into week 38 or potentially week 39 of my pregnancy...let's just say, the stress is very tangible right now. And I'm mainlining the leftover Halloween candy since I can't drink wine.
We chose to fit this project in before the baby, and I have no regrets. I just wish our contractor had been available to start earlier, and I wish there weren't the typical poor planning issues popping up at the end of week 4. I want to be nesting now that it's November. Not just making lists of what I need to do once they are out of our house.
It will all work out. I just have to breathe and stay calm. And enjoy my time with my husband. And the various other men in the house. bleh!

@Ash: That's cool if your coworkers can actually help you get the hours that you need. I know it's important to have that security of FMLA. I hope it all works out. Also - did I hear you right? You've been going into work at 3am?
@anbanan15: I'm glad that your mom has been able to help in a way that works for you and your husband. I'm sure the added layer of the FPIES makes it tricky to trust others.
@MrsTiz: I think a thread for the November babies is a great idea! I feel like it will be a while before I can contribute - but I'd love to hear how all of the new moms are doing!
@ShootingStar: How fun that your husband took today off. Just grab a bunch of movies, or pick a show to start watching on Netflix and snuggle up on the couch together. Have him make you food all day long And if you feel the urge to do things, just start making lists.

@ShootingStar: Make DH do it! I know the feeling though- I tend to have babies a day or so after that happens.

@sweetooth: I'm sure the reno stuff sucks, but I'm sure it'll be AWESOME and so worth it when it's finished!

Heeeey, everyone. Still here. Just slacked off on responding. I religiously stalk this page, I'm just usually on my phone and forget to come back and comment on my computer and by then we're all leaps and bounds past where I was going to comment!
Glad to hear everyone is still hangin' in there! We're in the home stretch...which is SO nuts! I was happy to make it through the week with baby girl still inside; I'm at the point where I don't know if she'll stay in until next Wednesday or not! I'm 39 weeks today, lost what I thought was the main chunk of my mucous plug--but am still getting chunks here at there, and feeling some tightening in my belly occasionally... If I start getting regular contractions or if my water breaks, I'm into the hospital ASAP!
I of course made the mistake of Dr. Googling last night and was researching how babies who have spent the majority of the 3rd trimester breech (mine...) often have misshapen heads due to being stuck in the mother's rib cage...and how breech babies (and females, and first borns...again, mine...) can have a higher risk of hip dysplaysia. Sigh. Needless to say, DH took the computer away from me.
In the meantime, I'm preeeety uncomfortable, my upper ribs kill, as I'm sure she's running out of room to go up/down! We'll see what this weekend brings!

@ms.janedoe: I'm totally with you on the stalking/not responding thing.
When I got up in the middle of the night, I was feeling weird pains/twinges, so I thought, "Is this starting? I really just want to go back to sleep". Luckily, I was able to...and nothing came of it. DH says now that we made it til November, the baby can come any day now lol. I've got 6 days, according to my count, 7 according to the midwife ( I don't know why they have my due date at 11/8 instead of 11/7. Oh well. I say it's the 7th).
They just turned the 7th-11th into a 4.5 day weekend at work, which is great for me and the use of my sick days with maternity leave. Disability doesn't kick in until 10 business days from birth, and I have exactly 10 sick/personal days that I have to use to cover that time. If LO actually comes on time (ish), that will help me there! Otherwise, I'm still thinking that if I go overdue, I am not going back to work. We'll see.
@MrsTiz: a November babies thread sounds GREAT!

oh! I almost forgot. DH and I are going on our last date before we need a sitter to go on a date tonight French food. Yum!!

@anbanan15: Yeah, I have 2 weeks left of work so I'll probably wait til after that's done. They're just BGs so I can always do them after baby arrives.
@sweetooth: Yes ma'am. I've only done it twice this week (yesterday and today) but it isn't fun waking up at 1:15 to go into work. Zzzz!!
I can kind of relate to the renovations - we are *still* in the process of adding on our breezeway/garage and the majority of the work (foundation is pouring but no building has started) probably won't happen until after baby is here. So our cars are parked further away and we have to use our front door which is further away too. Just hoping the snow holds off til after something is built. High hopes?
@ShootingStar: Take it easy this weekend, mama!! You need to just relax with dh - do it for baby D.
@Mrs. J: Nom nom! Have fun!!

I am sooooooo sore. My mom is making me walk and walk and walk and walk, haha. I think I've been more active this first week of maternity leave than I was the last two weeks at work.
I'm feeling lots of pressure but not a lot of cramping or anything, no plug... I really feel like she isn't coming any time soon. I'm not sure where things are at because I haven't had any cervical checks at all but we do have another ultrasound next Tuesday if she isn't here yet. I don't really have any huge urge to get her out, but the sooner she comes the sooner I can rest my damn feet, hah.

@ms.janedoe: I started reading about the hip and head issues with breech babies too. Then stopped myself because we all know dr. Google isn't a good idea! Anyways, he was breech or transverse my entire pregnancy and one of the first things the drs and nurses commented on when he was born was how perfectly round his head was because he was breech. So it can totally work both ways! As for his hips the pediatrician will order an ultrasound at one month to check. But from the look and feel of his movement there isn't likely to be any issues.
Try not to worry! I totally understand how you feel!

@ms.janedoe: My DS was breech and he had zero hip problems and a perfectly round head.

@anbanan15: Hope your cousin is doing well!!
*drumroll* Diapers are being stripped! Not sure what came over me but I like it!
Oh and I'd like to add I finally FINALLY felt baby hiccups last night. It made me nervous at first and then it hit me... What a crazy feeling!

@Ash: Haha you've been struck by the nesting bug lol. No baby yet. Her induction was started yesterday and she isn't expected to deliver for 5-7 days, but will remain in the hospital. I'm not really sure any details, that's really all we know.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: Oooooo, okay! I've never heard of that before. /
Nesting bug or the "they're not gonna wash themselves" bug, I'm not sure! I don't know why I put it off for so long.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Ash: Yes I've never heard of that before either, so I wonder if something else is up? Honestly who knows, just hope everything is okay. Keep me posted on the diapers!! Can't wait to hear how they turn out.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: I think something else is up too... I hope everything is okay! As for the diapers, I have them sunning and have the inserts washing now. I totally think I have been bitten... I went crazy in the nursery today and tomorrow dh and I are gonna get things in order in there. Such a relief. I need another nap!

@ms.janedoe: so I'm on etsy looking for changing pad covers and some of them look so sloppy... What shop did you get yours?

@Mrs. J: Hope your date went well!!
@MrsDragon: Hahahha, hope you're loving the walking!
@sarah.clarisse: Gah! Thanks so much for the insight, lady. I know I should back off and not worry about anything unless there's reason to! SO happy all is well with you and your little man!
@shellio: Yay! Thanks for the reassurance that it can turn out perfect!
@Ash: Baahaha, congrats on getting the diaper stripping going! I ordered my changing pad cover from iviebaby: https://www.etsy.com/shop/iviebaby . It's a perfect fit, but was a little spendy ($35) for something that will just end up getting shat all over...so we only have that one so far. I did end up getting one of those foamy/rubbery ones that just wipes down for once the novelty of the adorably cute changing pad cover wears off.

@ms.janedoe: Ooooooo I love her store - just hated the price! Hers are the only ones that don't look too big. Thanks!
It's almost baby time for you!

@Ash: I know!!! SO crazy! I'm still wondering if I'll make it to Wednesday or not! I just did all of our sheets/blankets/duvet cover again, made a few more freezer meals, and did some more cleaning/tidying...I just don't know what to expect!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ms.janedoe: Ahhhh yes, freezer meals. They'll come in handy! The worst of everything will be while you're in the hospital. If you want the skinny on what will go on there, I can tell you what I know.
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@Ash: Dude, I haven't heard ANYTHING yet from my doctor/hospital as far as what the "plan" is. Like, nothing about how far in advance I should stop eating (12/24 hours?), if contacts/hair/makeup are OK, how long is "typical" to stay in/at the hospital... So again, Dr. Google to the rescue! Hahahha. I'm going to give them a call Monday afternoon if I haven't heard anything yet.

@Ash: I have washed 0 of the BGs yet...but I figure I have a little time until we need them?
honeydew / 7909 posts
@ms.janedoe: Omg, that's crazy! Nothing like leaving you hangin! I'm sure it's 12hrs/nothing after midnight. No jewelry. I'd say no contacts. But hair and makeup are fine they'll shave you so if you wanna do that yourself the morning of, you can. They'll also put in a catheter that will come out after 12-24hrs. I'd pack something comfy to wear home - something that won't rub your incision. Tip: you can place a pad between your underwear and your incision to prevent rubbing. Another piece of advice is to move as soon as they let you. It really will make you feel better!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: well that's what I thought too but 18 of mine were used so I wanted to get them stripped. I just ordered 6 more on the cotton babies website (buy 4 freetimes, get 2 free) so I still have to wash them. 4.0s are in sale too if you're interested
And I don't see why contacts wouldn't be allowed - your eyes might get dry though.

@Ash: take it easy mama!! Can you sew at all? Changing pad covers (along with sheets) are SOOO simple to make!
Btw anyone else not getting email notifications today?
pomelo / 5132 posts
@anbanan15: I only ever get some of them, which is weird. Even when people direct reply to me!
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Mrs. J: So interesting! I usually always get them when someone replies directly to me, but not today I just checked and my notifications haven't been turned off.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: ummm, can't sew at all. but I'd like to learn!
I noticed my notifications went to my junk mail today. Weird.

@ms.janedoe: I was able to wear my contacts during my section. I had some makeup, but not a lot. The next day, after I took my shower, I fixed my hair and out on some makeup. It helped me feel normal.
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@Ash: @Jennimac: Awesome, thanks!! Yeah, I don't plan on going in with full hair and makeup done, but I wouldn't mind a little concealer and mascara... Hell, I might as well go in ready, right?!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@ms.janedoe: I guess every hospital is different because my instructions said no makeup I guess I'll look a little scary going in, but I figure I can put some on afterwards so that I feel a bit more normal.

@Ash: You just need to know how to see a straight line! You could so do it!
Ohh and duh! Ha that's where mine all are! I never check my spam folder, but sure enough they are all there. I have gmail...I wonder if they updated again or something? Like when they introduced the tabs feature.
pomelo / 5073 posts
@ms.janedoe: I wasn't allowed to eat or drink after midnight. I suggest taking it easy on the ice chips when they allow you to have them afterwards. They won't let you eat solid foods until you pass gas. I changed into some yoga pants and a. Nursing tank after my shower. I suggest wearing the mesh panties they offer. My dr didn't give too many details. Just the no food or drink and when to show up.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@anbanan15: I have Gmail too... Maybe that's why! I removed them from spam and put them into my inbox and since then I've been getting the notifications.
I'm sure I could find a pattern online somewhere. I have so many things I'd like to sew... and I need a hobby. Hmmm.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
@Ash: I will try that! Our changing pad is contoured on one side so I combined these tutorials: http://www.aloadofcraft.com/2010/03/tutorial-how-to-make-contoured-changing.html?m=1 and http://prudentbaby.com/2009/12/baby-kid/diy-changing-pad-cover-tutorial-2/. Crib sheets and pack n play sheets are basically the same thing too. So simple!

We finally got our maternity pics back!!! DH just said "wow, you look so much smaller then than you do now..." He got the evil eye. These were taken at 33 weeks and I'm now 11 days away from delivery (ahhhh!!).
Here's some of my favorites:

@lilteacherbee: so cute! Thanks for sharing! My DH has a way with words too
honeydew / 7909 posts
@lilteacherbee: Awe love the pics! All I have are pics of the pics in the album I got. I told dh "I feel so fat" And his response is "now you know how I feel" And then I make him feel bad. But I know he isn't calling me fat. You look great!
@anbanan15: you make all this sewing stuff sound easy but I haven't sewed since 8th grade!

My cousin had her baby via c-section this morning. 5lbs 9oz 19". She is cute but so tiny!!
@Ash: It's like riding a horse! You would do great and if you have any doubts YouTube is awesome!
