For some reason, this week I'm feeling better and optimistic. I think maybe just 8 weeks was a milestone in my head? I told a couple of my coworkers, which was good, because now I don't have to feel bad about napping on the floor of my office. I'm not going to tell our main office/my supervisor until at least 12, probably 14, possibly 16 weeks (we don't see each other much, so I can get away with this.)
I couldn't sleep and I woke up at 4 am and now I'm awake. Which means I'm going to be exhausted all day AND I have a job interview today, which I'm sort of majorly stressed about.

Update!
My first ultrasound is going to be on April 9th, and my first appointment with my OB isn't until MAY 28th!!! I don't know why they're making me wait that long to start seeing her, but whatever.
I'm just so excited to see a heartbeat and find out for sure how far along I am and what my due date will be!

Also, for those of you that are pregnant with #2, have you started showing already? I swear to god I am. It's ridiculous.

@petuniasandpearls: Eeek! How exciting! Congrats on a healthy heartbeat!
@Ms.Mermaid: Good luck on the job interview!
@Sophs Mama: I feel ridiculous, but yes! I know it's just bloat/baby prep, but it's definitely starting earlier than it did with LO1. It's not cute to be wandering around with unbuttoned jeans without it even being public that I'm pregnant
My first appointment isn't until Tuesday - I'm jealous of all of you who've seen a healthy little baby already! I'm still scared something will go wrong even though my pregnancy symptoms keep growing.

@Sophs Mama I could not button my interview pants this morning (haven't worn this suit in awhile) and proceeded to grumble about getting fat. I'm currently sitting at my desk in a belly band and hoping I just look like I make poor nutritional choices.
apricot / 429 posts
@ms.mermaid: that's awesome. We told my husbands parents last night (who we live with) and after we told them I was all "great! now when you see me wandering around you won't just think I got fat!"
I didn't have to wear maternity clothing until nearly 20 weeks last time (mind you, I wear almost exclusively lululemon clothing), but this time I can't even suck it in. Ugh.
kiwi / 745 posts
@Rattles I'm also wearing pants. Just to clarify. But it is a funny image.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@petuniasandpearls: congrats!! Hoping I have mine in TWO days. Must be a relief to know you have a heartbeat in there!
@Ms.Mermaid: I *have* to get up within 6 hours of going to sleep to pee, or else my bladder will burst. I then cant fall back asleep so can empathize.
@rattles: I totally hear you! It's like I keep blaming my symptoms on things other than pregnancy. Can't sleep through the night without getting up to pee? Must be drinking too much before bed. Worst acne ever? Must be unlucky:-). I don't have a lot of the classic symptoms which is the root of my worry. Here's hoping our appointments in the next few days assuage our fears.

I have 2 pair of work pants that still fit.... the rest are complete belly band. I have a belly band, a long white shirt and a shawl on today and I feel so fat and awkward. It is very obvious!! This is my first and I am only just over 8 weeks! I was showing DH yesterday and was saying, look it is not just fat belly cause it is really low!! We are heading to the states hopefully next week as it is spring break and I am hitting up Target and any other maternity sections I can find for pants cause I feel disgusting!!
cherry / 220 posts
@Sophs Mama: Yes. I mostly wear yoga pants (another lulu fan here!) and they still fit fine, but I definitely have a baby bump. I'm as big as I was at 15 weeks with my first. It's insane. I wore maternity jeans out to dinner the other night.
nectarine / 2358 posts
My pants aren't really fitting, either. I mean, they WILL but it's totally not comfortable and I end up looking more pregnant because it squishes my gut up since I was already overweight to begin with, Going to a wedding this weekend and I feel grooossssss.

@ShayNanigans: @thisisme: Yes please to the done-with-progesterone party!
@Mrs.Panda: oh goodness, but I'm sorry, I can't help but laugh at your crazy preggo moment. I bet your DH won't joke about food with you again!
@MrsScottish: I completely agree, I love having a place here where we're all at the same stage of pregnancy and can talk and share!
@petuniasandpearls: hooray for seeing the heartbeat and a successful appointment!
@Ms.Mermaid: hope your job interview goes great!
@Sophs Mama: wow, thats a long time between your scan and your first ob appointment. Is it because you're a 2nd time mom?
@rattles: hopefully Tuesday will be here before you know it!
You guys, I just don't think I'm going to put on regular pants again. I don't want to know if my skinny jeans would be tight already, but given my bloat and the fact that my stomach was already in awful shape from months of meds....yeah. I think I'll just keep my head in the sand and continue rocking the sweatpants and leggings! Being a hermit who works from home is seeming to have some benefits for once!
Although I must say, I can't wait until it warms up a bit and I can break out the sundresses and feel cute again. I'm hoping my old stuff will work at least halfway through summer!
apricot / 429 posts
@sprite: I think that's why. Last time I remember seeing her at around 10 weeks.. so maybe they figure I've got it all under control?
cherry / 245 posts
Um yeah, my jeans are officially now torture devices. I will be picking up a belly band this weekend! Leggings are also in my imminent future.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
I think I'm incompetent with belly bands. I feel like they always roll down or up on me! I've got an ever-classy ponytail holder looped through my button hole and around the button.
@Sophs Mama: How'd telling your inlaws go? I hope they were supportive!
apricot / 429 posts
@rattles: They were supportive and happy, but not nearly as much as last time. I think it's because they're worried about us financially..
I was actually pretty disappointed that they weren't happier. Oh well.
apricot / 305 posts
@petuniasandpearls: yay! That's so special!
@ChiCalGoBee: ditto to peeing every. morning. at 4 am.
@Sophs Mama: how did it go telling your in laws? I think I remember seeing on another thread that you were nervous about their reaction...
@Mrs.Panda: ditto to already being overweight. Ugh.
@ShayNanigans: I'm definitely transitioning into mostly wearing leggings. Which is a totally obvious give away since that has never been my style before. Sounds like I need to look into these belly bands!
I'm stiffing in the waiting room at my docs office now. So nervous to see the heartbeat again!
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@Sophs Mama: We're excited for you! My grandparents responded similarly when my parents were expecting my youngest brother (he's the 5th, and my sister was only 7 months when they found out). Once he was born, they were of course smitten. I'll cross my fingers the same is true for you/yours.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@Sophs Mama: I think that's how my in laws will respond. MIL is always making comments about how we're poor (which we're not! just living modestly so I can be a SAHM) and I bet that will be her first response.
My jeans still fit, probably because they're pretty low...I can tell my stomach is starting to pooch out above the waistband, though. Sexy! (I already am missing the artificially flat stomach I had from BFing a giant baby...)
cherry / 220 posts
@rattles: I feel the same way. I used it for awhile with my last pregnancy and it never really fit well. It always rolled down too! I gave up around 12 weeks and moved straight to maternity pants. This time I went straight for the maternity, except for my leggings/yoga pants haha.
apricot / 429 posts
@tororojo @rattles: It's tough, because I know they're crazy excited, but they just didn't show it. I was nervous that they'd be upset and give us a lecture or something, but then when there was no lecture it was confusing. I figured they'd either be super happy and excited, or be concerned and lecture..y.
So silly. My parents are thrilled, so I should be happy about that though.
@thisisme: I responded right before you asked!

@petuniasandpearls: Yay for a heartbeat. That's exciting!
@Sophs Mama: I'm so bloated this go around. I have on a peplum top today and I'm having to suck in. Oy! I heard you show sooner with #2, so here's to looking forward to that. I just hope I can keep my secret until after the first trimester!
@Mrs.Panda: I have a wedding in May and I'm dreading finding something to wear. It'll also be before I want to tell people so, I have to find something to flatter the bloat
@ChiCalGoBee: Is it bad that I am still holding my pee in? I just can't interrupt my sleep like that. LOL Selfish of me, I know!
kiwi / 745 posts
I have also had issues with the bellyband rolling up, etc. but it's more of a problem with jeans than with my dress pants, which is good, because I have to wear suits every day. Also, the rubberband trick doesn't work on dress pants with clasps. As soon as it is not so EFFING COLD ALL THE TIME, I'm just going to wear dresses and blazers.
apricot / 305 posts
@Sophs Mama: Yeah, I saw that! It takes way too long to type out a response on my phone, so I missed the updates while I was typing.
@Ms.Mermaid: I'm with you! I can't wait for it to warm up!
My appointment went really well this afternoon! Baby is 9mm now (I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow), and still has a heartbeat! I was disappointed at first that the ultrasound machine was out of paper, but then my doc suggested that I take pictures on my phone. We even got a video to send to the grandparents! But the BEST news is that I GET TO STOP PIO INJECTIONS!!!! @ShayNanigans: and @Sprite: I'm still on the suppositories until 10 weeks, but I'm so ready for round one of our party!

Holy moly I have missed so much in the past several days, I'm not sure exactly how I'm ever going to catch up. I've been so busy with work and feeling super sick I just haven't had time to get on here. Hope everyone is well and I'll try to look back and catch up tomorrow!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@MarieJ: not selfish of you! Totally practical!! I wish I could ignore it but I can't. Poor DH has a long 33 weeks to go with my night waking!

@thisisme: so glad you're progressing so beautifully!!! I am sooooo anxious to join all of you with healthy, heart-beating babes!!!

@Mrs.Panda: So adorable! DD's nickname from my family was GB/gummybear through my whole first pregnancy based on her 8 week ultrasound pictures
@thisisme: Hooray for no more injections!

@Mrs.Panda: What a perfect little gummy bear!! Great picture.

@Sprite: @MrsScottish: @rattles: @theotherstark: here is GB busting a move. It was dancing hard in there! I was super hungry lol
@MrsScottish: you totally should!!
@rattles: haha we will be doing the same! Though DH still says poppy seed.

@mrspanda amazing picture thank you for sharing!!

nectarine / 2028 posts
@theotherstark: you're so sweet. I'm so nervous that I have zero focus today. I want a healthy beating baby heart so badly!!!!! I'll update here
cherry / 173 posts
Ok I have about 5 pages of posts that I have missed and need to catch up on which would likely take me all day so I'll try to make this short and sweet!
Congrats and welcome to our new November mammas to be, so happy to have you here
@ShayNanigans: OMG twins how exciting!!!!! I know you definitely had a higher chance due to IVF, how are you feeling?!? I am honestly terrified of the thought of twins although DH says he would LOVE it. I have 2 first cousins that have had twins naturally and many more sets down the 2nd/3rd cousin line as well, so there is definitely a chance.
How is everyone getting along with the M/S? Now that my doctor gave me the Zofran Rx I'm feeling 100x better. Still have bouts of nausea, but haven't vomited since I started taking it. Is anyone already having issues with constipation? I have been having issues big time. I was never that regular to begin with (sorry if TMI) but now it's even worse. The last time I went "normally" was about a week ago, since then when I go it looks like a rabbit used my toilet if you get my drift.
I too am already rocking the belly band although I don't know how crazy I am about them, I am also having the issue with them rolling. I have been living in my sweats and yoga pants, and luckily I wear scrubs to work so that is not an issue, it's only when I have to go somewhere and actually look presentable that is a problem. I think the bloating from the constipation is probably causing most of my "fatness" right now, and I feel silly going out and buying maternity pants at 6 weeks....so I'm just trying to deal with it a little longer.
I'm so excited for everyone that has had appointments this week and has gotten to see a heartbeat, how awesome!!! Our appointment isn't until 4/9 so we have a little longer to wait to see ours, and I am just dying with anticipation!
@Mrs.Panda: Gahhhhhh so cute it really does look like a gummy bear!!!! I love it . We have been calling ours "Bean" lol and my co-workers who know have been calling it "Billy Zygote", which all started when one of my male co-workers called made a comment about it being a zygote and then said I'm just gonna call it "The Gote" and my other co-worker was like "Billy Gote" and so that is now what they call my little bean haha!
@Mrs.Panda: you're so good with the calendar and I've seen this on other threads, any chance you can add an appointment section so we can keep track of each others appointments? I'm having a hard time keeping track of when we all are going. If not or it's too much for you to take on, let me know and I can make a list, it won't be near as fancy as the calendar but would work just as well! How is bed rest going, any end in sight?
nectarine / 2358 posts
@katieleigh_82: Yeah that's no problem! If you guys can let me know when your appointments are so I don't have to scour through the pages I would appreciate it. I will have something up by tonight and let me know of any due date changes!
